Episode 438: Facing Fear With Eyes Wide Open
A little while after dealing with Georgia and her Beartic, Sora and Iris decided to ahve a practice battle with Fraxure against Druddigon. Both trainers knew both are Dragon Type Pokémon, and both were at a disadvantage, but they had to give it what they got.
"You ready to go, Iris?" Sora asked.
"Ready when you are, Sora," Iris said.
"Fraxure! Use Dragon Claw!" Sora ordered.
"Druddigon! You use Dragon Claw, too!" Iris ordered.
Both Dragon Types came right at each other with their calws ready to strike each other. They slashed right at each other.
"Dragon Rage!" Sora ordered. Fraxure had unleashed Dragon Rage right at Druddigon.
"Use Metal Claw!" Iris ordered. Druddion came right at Fraxure with Metal Claw. Druddigon has landed a hit onto Fraxure.
Fraxure has let out a powerful Dragon Pulse and struck Druddigon on the spot. Sora was surprised to see that Fraxure has learned a new move.
"That was Dragon Pulse. You just learned to use Dragon Pulse," Sora said.
"Druddigon! Use Focus Blast!" Iris ordered. Druddigon has unleashed Focus Blast.
"Dragon Pulse!" Sora ordered. Fraxure has unleashed Dragon Pulse right at Druddigon's Focus Blast. The two attacks collides and results in an explosion. "That was great, Iris."
"You too, Sora," Iris said.
With that done, Sora and Iris joins their friends for lunch. Druddigon had been sociable with the other Pokémon. Oshawott had finished his meal and attempted to swipe Eevee, but Eevee was quick to act.
"Don't even think about it!" - Eevee subtitle. Oshawott placed his hand back. Oshawott attempts to swipe Azurill's meal, but that just earned a smack on Oshawott's hand from Angel.
"If you want seconds, ask Kairi or Cilan. You should know better than to steal from your friends." - Angel subtitle. Oshawott pouted, having to be denied from having a meal. Once the other Pokémon had finished the meal they all shared, Sora and Riku decided to get some training done.
"Okay, Sora. One-on-one?" Riku asked.
"Sure," Sora said. He looked among his Pokémon. Oshawott went up to Sora.
"Osha, Oshawott, wott!" Oshawott said.
"You wanna have a go?" Sora asked.
"Osha!" Oshawott nodded.
"Okay, I can let you. So, why not? It'll help you get stronger," Sora said.
"Wott!" Oshawott said.
Oshawott grinned right at Eevee, knowing that he was going to have himself a little payback for denying him the rights to the Pokémon food. Sora, Riku, Eevee, and Oshawott got into postion for the battle.
"You got the first move, Sora!" Riku said.
"Oshawott! Use Water Gun!" Sora ordered. Oshawott fires Water Gun right at the evolution Pokémon.
"Eevee! Dodge and use Swift!" Riku ordered. Eevee fires Swift right at Oshawott.
"Block it!" Sora called out. Oshawott uses his scalchop to reflect the stars. Riku smirked.
"Not bad. Your Oshawott sure knows how to use that scalchop!" Riku said.
"Osha!" Oshawott beamed at the compliment.
"Sacred Sword!" Sora ordered. Oshawott swings his scalchop as it forms a sword and heads right towards Eevee.
"Okay, Eevee! Dodge and use Quick Attack!" Riku ordered. Eevee dashed to avoid Oshawott's Sacred Sword. "Now, use Dig!" Eevee dug into the ground.
"Be ready when Eevee comes out!" Sora said.
"Osha," Oshawott said. Oshawott looked around for Eevee to come out. Eevee emerges from the ground and struck Oshawott.
"Use Aqua Jet!" Sora ordered. Oshawott shuts his eyes and he goes out of control. Riku had noticed that Oshawott shuts his eyes and heads right towards a tree. Oshawott is then struck. Sora went over to the sea otter Pokémon, helping him on his feet. "You okay, Oshawott?"
"Osha," Oshawott said.
"I'm glad. I don't get how could lose control over Aqua Jet like that," Sora said.
"I can," Riku said. "I just noticed that Oshawott was shutting his eyes when he was using Aqua Jet. That's probably why Oshawott has trouble using it probably."
"You were shutting your eyes the whole time?" Sora asked. Oshawott looked at the ground. "No wonder you were having a hard time with Aqua Jet. That's something we both can work on."
"Osha," Oshawott said.
"I know you can handle it, Oshawott," Riku said. The sea otter Pokémon looked right up to Riku. "With a trainer like Sora, there's nothing you can't handle. Trust me." He rubs Oshawott on the head.
Riku, Naminé, Eevee, and Azurill were heading off ahead.
"You sure you can't stick with us a little longer, Riku?" Sora asked.
"I'm sure, Sora. We'll meet up with you in Nimbasa City," Riku said.
"We'll be sure to root for you in your Gym battle, Sora," Naminé said.
"Azu, Azu!" Azurill said.
Riku, Naminé, Eevee, and Azurill took their leave of the group for a little while. Acouple of days later, Sora and Kairi had exchnaged Krokorok, Watchog, and Munna for Swadloon, Ducklett, and Emolga. Sora decided to help out Oshawott keep his eyes open while in the water. Sora has changed into his swiming trunks as he and Oshawott came to a pond to learn keep his eye open in the water.
Snivy, Tepig, Swadloon, Fraxure, Deerling, Purrloin, Ducklett, Emolga, Woobat, Deino, and Pansage came on out to play. Sora and Oshaowtt did some stretches.
"Ready to go?" Sora asked.
"Osha," Oshawott said.
"Great! In the water!" Sora said. Oshawott jumped in the water to swim. Sora came in the pond as Oshawott started to swim. "Okay, Oshawott, we're going to work on having your eyes open in the water. To use your Aqua Jet, you gotta be looking where you're going, so we're going to have to work on it. Try, slowly putting your face in the water." Oshawott shuts his eyes and planted his face in the water. Sora places his face in the water and sees the sea otter Pokémon has his eyes closed again.
A little further away, Pikachu and Angel were spending some time together as most of the Pokémon were playing a ball game. Ducklett was pecking around when she spotted something that resembles Pokéballs. It turns out to be Foongus. Ducklett pecks at them, but the Foongus didn't seem to like that, so they started to fight Ducklett.
"What's going on?" Iris asked.
"I don't know," Aqua said.
"It's lunch time!" Cilan announced ina sing-song tone. The Pokémon all started to head for the ruckus. "Where's everyone going?"
"Something's going on over there," Ventus said.
"That can't be good,' Meowth said. He, Pikachu, and Angel went to join their friends as Ducklett fired Water Gun at them, but the Foongus all spewed Poison Powder at her. All of the Pokémon were struck by Poison Powder.
"Angel!" Kairi gasped.
"Kairi, wait! Those Foongus are using Poison Powder!" Cilan said. Pikachu, Angel, Meowth, and the other Pokémon were in pretty bad shape. Ventus went to get his cousin.
Over to the pond, Sora and Oshawott were working on keeping his eyes open under water.
"Let's try again, Oshawott," Sora said.
"Sora!" Ventus called out. Sora turned to see his cousin.
"Ven? What's going on?" Sora asked.
"A bunch of Foongus just used Poison Powder on all of the Pokémon!" Ventus said.
"Foongus? Poison Powder?" Sora asked.
"You should see for yourself!" Ventus said. Sora, Ventus, and Oshawott went to the spot where it happened and saw all of the Pokémon in bad shape.
"Guys!" Sora gasped. He saw the mushroom Pokémon and they all rolled off into the shrubs. Sora turned to Cilan. "We got some antidote to heal them, don't we?" Sora asked.
"I'm afraid we're out of the antidote. And there isn't a Center in miles of here," Cilan said.
"Man, this is bad," Sora said.
"is there something we can do?" Kairi asked.
"Actually there is. The thing to cure poisoning is the use of a Remeyo weed. I can mix it into a tea to neutralize the poison," Iris said.
"Is there any nearby?" Terra asked.
"I'll check for that," Cilan said, checking his device. The map pinpoints the exact location. "Yes! It's nearby!"
"Great!" Sora said.
"I'll stay here to keep an eye on the Pokémon," Iris said.
"And I'll go with you," Ventus said.
"And I'll lead the way," Cilan said.
Kairi, Terra, and Aqua stayed behind to look after the Pokémon since Sora, Ventus, Cilan, and Oshawott went to get to the Remeyo Weed.
"How much further are we?" Ventus asked.
"We should be almost there," Cilan said. They arrived to another part of the lake. "And here we are. I knew it! Remeyo Weed grows in crevasses between rocks at the bottom of the lake."
"Then, I'll have to swim down and get some," Sora said.
"It's not as simple as it seems, Sora," Cilan waarned him.
"Why not?" Ventus asked.
"The crevasses the Remeyo Weed grow in are very small. Even if you do reach it, there's no way you cn fit. In the old days, people would use Water Type Pokémon that are specially trained to gather it," Cilan said.
"Then it's a good thing we have Oshawott," Sora said.
"But, Oshawott still won't keep his eyes open while underwater," Ventus noted.
"He's right, Sora. And I may add those narrow crevasses will be difficult to see," Cilan said.
"No problem. I can just signal Osaowtt just by pulling on his ears, like this," Sora said, pulling on Oshapwtt's ears. Sora pulled on his left ear, making him look left. Sora pulled on his right ear, so he looks to his right.
"You sure that will work?" Cilan asked.
"I'm not seeing any other options, so Oshawott and I are heading down," Sora said, putting on an oxygen mask, and held onto Oshawott, coming down.
"I hope they know what they're doing," Cilan said.
"He's going to be okay. What could happen?" Ventus asked.
Back to the campsite, Kairi, Terra, Aqua, and Iris were doing what they could to keep thier strength up. Kairi gave some freshly suqeezed Oran Berry juice to Angel.
"Here, Angel, have some Oran Berry juice. It won't stop the posion, but it'll keep your strength up," Kairi said.
"Eevee," Angel said weakly, drinkming the juice.
"Please hang in there," Kairi said.
Down in the lake, Sora was holding onto Oshawott, unaware of a Palpitoad watching them. He turned to a squad of Tympole.
"Attention, Tympole! We have invaders on our turf! Your job is to go and drive them off! I don't know what they're here for, I don't care! Get them out of here!" - Palpitoad subtitle.
"Sir, yes sir!" - Tympole subtitle. The Tympole swam off to drive away Sora and Oshawott. Palpitoad smirked.
"No matter if it's a human being or a Pokémon, nobody comes on my turf uninvited and gets away with it! No one." - Palpitoad subtitle.
Down to Sora and Oshawott, they found the crevasse Cilan was talking about.
"There it is! The crevasse!" Sora said. "Now to make sure that it's the right one." He peeks inside and sees the Remeyo Weed. "Yes! The Remeyo Weed! Grab it!" He turned to see a bunch of Tympole coming right at him. "Tympole?" The Tympole swooped by him with Oshawott looking around with his eyes closed. The tadole-like Pokémon turn around and they start to set their attentions on Oshawott. Sora managed to distancehimself from the Tympole, but he noticed Oshawott wasn't with him. "Oshawott! Get out of there! Quick!" The Oshaowtt looked around. "OPen your eyes! Hurry!" The Tympole rammed into Oshawott and then unleashed Supersonic on the sea otter Pokémon. "That's Supersonic!" Oshawott is now confused. The Tympole all fired Hydro Pump. "Now they're using Hydro Pump!"
Up in the surface, Ventus and Cilan watches the water attack come right out.
"Look at that!" Ventus saisaid.
"What's going on down there?!" Cilan exclaimed.
"Sora! Oshawott!" Ventus called out.
Back underwater, the Tympole were surrounding Oshawott.
"Use Razor Shell!" Sora ordered. Oshawott took his scalchop and swings it around blindly. "That's no good if you can't see what you're doing! Open your eyes! You got to open your eyes!" Oshawott starrts to slowly his eyes, as the Tympole were firing their Hydro Pump at the sea otter Pokémon.
One more time! Open your eyes again!" The Tympole all fired their Bubble Beam right at the sea ooter Pokémon. "Oshawott! Hurry!" Oshawott opens his eyes fully underwater and swings his scaphop like a sword, cutting the bubbles to shreds. The Tympole were scared of Oshawott an they swam off. "That was great, Oshawott. Those Tympole might be back, so let's get oout of here and regroup." Oshawott nodded and they both headed for the surface. Palpitoad was watching and it was furious at the Tympole's failure.
"What the hell is going on?! I should have known better than to rely on those stupid useless tadpoles! I still have one more. Stunfisk, get up here!" - Palpitoad subtitle. Stunfisk emerges from the mud.
"You called me, boss?" - Stunfisk subtitle.
"There's a human and an Oshawott and they just bested the Tympole. I send them to do one simple task and they blow it! I need you to take care of them for me." - Palpitoad subtitle.
"You can count on me, boss!" - Stunfisk subtitle. Stunfisk swam close to Sora and Oshawott and zaps them with Thunder Shock.
Ventus and Cilan sees a yellow light in the water.
"What's that?" Ventus asked. Sora and Oshawott erupted out of the water. "Sora, Oshawott!"
"Are you alright?" Cilan asked.
"What happened down there?" Ventus asked.
"Oshawott and I were attacked by a bunch of Tympole, before we could get to the Remeyo Weed. Thought it was a good idea to retreat and regroup, but we got zapped down there," Sora explained.
"Oshawott," Oshawott added. Stunfisk jumped out of the water and laughed at Sora and Oshawott.
"That Stunfisk must be the reason you got zapped down there," Cilan said.
"That Stunfisk is going to be tough since it won't let us near the Remeyo Weed," Sora said.
"Sora, how about you leave that Stunfisk to me," Ventus said. Sora and Cilan looked right at him.
"You sure, Ven?" Cilan asked.
"Piece of cake. I can put the fishing lessons Lana taught me to good use," Ventus said.
"That's right. I forgot Lana taught you how to fish before," Sora said.
"And I know I'm going to do her proud," Ventus said, taking out a fishing pole and he uses a fishing lure that is shaped like Lana. "Lana-sensei, I will now put what you taught me to good use." Ventus casts the fishing pole. "And here we go!" The lure hits the water. He remembered not to reel in too early. He kept his cool.
"Just when Sora was a divinve dish with unique flavors, now it is Ventus's turn to shine. I wionder if we will savor the joyous feast of conquest," Cilan said in his thoughts. Ventus waited patiently as he felt a tug on his fishing pole.
"Got it! I got it!" Ventus said, pulls up the fishing pole. The Pokémon in the water starts to fight back as Ventus holds his ground. "You're not getting away form me! I won't let you!" Ventus pulls Stunfisk out of the water. Stunfish lands right next to his feet. "Mission accomplished.
"Lana would be proud," Sora said.
Just then a blast of water erupted from the lake as Palpitoad jumped on the lilypad.
"Palpitoad," Palpitoad growled.
"A Palpitoad," Sora said. Palpitad fuires Mud Shot right at the boys. Stunfisk fires Mud Bomb right at them.
"Sora, I think this Stunfisk and that Palpitoad are in cahoots with each other," Ventus said.
"The only way we're going to get to that Remeyo Weed is to deal with both of that Palpitoad and Stunfisk!" Cilan said.
"I got Stunfisk!" Ventus said, swinging the trap Pokémon around. "Round and round we go!" Stunfisk was having the spin of its life.
"Oshawott! Let's go!" Sora said.
"Oshawott!" Oshawott said.
"Toad!" Palpitaod snarled, hoping to scare off Oshawott. Oshaowtt is startled by Palpitoad.
"Don't be sacred, Oshawott. Pikachu, Angel, Meowth, and the others are all counting on you. I know you can take it down," Sora said. Oshawott nodded. "Water Gun!" Oshawott fires Water Gun right at Palpitoad. Palpitoad responds by firing Hydro Pump. "That's Hydro Pump!" It collides with Oshawott's Water Gun, sending faced down in the mud. "You okay, Oshawott?"
"Osha, Oshawott!" Oshawott said.
"Great! Razor Shell!" Sora ordered. Oshawott took his scalchop and swings it aorund. but Palpitoad unleashed a powerful soundwave, making Oshawott confused.
"That's Supersonic!" Cilan said. Palpitoad then fires Mud Shot right at Oshawott, alnding a hit. Ventus was still swinging Stunfisk around. Sora was impressed by Palpitoad's strength.
"That Palpitoad is a strong one. I could use a Pokémon like that. The only way to end this now it to catch it," Sora said. "Oshawott! Aqua Jet!" Oshawott uses Aqua Jet. Palpitaod fires Mud Shot right at Oshawott. Oshaowtt has his eyes closed. SOra knoew it was a bad sign since Oshawoot has his eyes closed. "Oshawott! You have to open your eyes! Think back what you did in the lake against those Tympole! You did it before and I know you can again! I know you can do it!" Oshawott knew Sora was right since he did open his eyes and reflected those Tympole's attacks from before. Oshawott opened his eyes and heads right towards Palpitoad. The vibration Pokémon gets hit hard by the sea otter Pokémon resulting in a knock out.
"This ride is over!" Ventus said, throwing Stunfisk down on the ground. Sora took out two Pokéballs for Palpitoad and Stunfisk and threw them both. Both of Palpitoad and Stunfisk flows inside and the Pokéballs wobbles around and around. Stars swirls around them to confirm the catch. Sora's Pokémon Box goes off asking him if he wants to keep Palpitoad and Stunfisk with him. He chose to send them both to Professor Oak's lab. "Two for one!"
"Good catch," Cilan said.
"With Palpitoad and Stunfisk dealt with, we won't have to deal with anymore interferences," Sora said. He bent don to Oshawott. "Okay, Oshawott, how about I let you go and get it by yourself. I have confidence that you can get it yourself."
"Oshawott!" Oshawott said, diving down in the water. Oshawott swam down to the crevasse where the Remeyo Weed is located. Thanks to his small size, he managed to get in without a problem. Oshwaott came back up with the Remeyo Weed and made it back to the camp just in time for Iris to make the tea.
"It's done! The medicine from the Remeyo Weed Oshaowtt brought back should help you out. Drink it all up," Iris said. All of the Pokémon drank the Remeyo Weed medicine, and they all started to feel better.
"Ooh, I feel like a million bucks!" Meowth said.
"The medicine really works! Everyone looks great!" Iris said.
"All thanks to Oshawott being able to swim with his eyes open, and Ven's fishing abilities," Sora said.
"If Lana hadn't taught me, none of this would have been possible," Ventus said.
"You and Oshawott saved the day," Kairi said, giving her boyfriend's cousin a kiss on the cheek. Ventus blushed, making his face redder than a tomato. Angel gave Oshawott a lick on the cheek, making the sea otter Pokémon blush the same shade of red. The Pokémon all went up to Oshawott and gave him a toss for helping them all out. A Foongus from before came out of a bush and went up to the group.Kairi noticed the mushroom Pokémon, coming towards them.
"A Foongus!" Kairi said.
"No you don't! Tepig! Ember!" Sora ordered. Tepig unleashed Ember and it struck the Foongus. Sora took out a Pokéball and threw it at Foongus. Foongus flows inside, making the Pokéball wobble around and around. Stars swirls around the Pokéball to confirm the catch. Sora's Pokémon Box goes off asking him if he wants to keep Foongus with him. He chose to send Foongus over to Professor Oak's lab.
After the group had their deserved lunch, Sora, Kairi, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Cilan, Iris, Pikachu, Angel, Meowth, and Axew all came acrosss a Minncino. Kairi took out a Pokéball and threw it.
"Go! Ducklett!" Kairi called out. Ducklett came on out to battle. "Ducklett! Start up with Water Gun!" Ducklett fires Water Gun right at the chinchilla Pokémon. Minncino came at Ducklett with a Tackle. Minccino lands a hit on the water bird Pokémon. Minncino then gave the duck-like Pokémon a smack with its tail.
"That was Tail Slap," Cilan said. Minncino then comes at Ducklet and tickles her.
"She's using Tickle on Ducklett. I have got to get Minncino off of her! Ducklett! Fly up and use Wing Attack!" Ducklett flies and gave Minncino a hit with her wings. "Now use Water Gun!" Ducklet fires Water Gun and strikes Minncino on the spot. Minncino was then taken down. Kairi took out a Pokéball and threw it. Minccino flows inside and the Pokéball wobbles around and around. Stars swirls around the Pokéball to confirm the catch. Kairi's Pokémon Box goes off asking her if she wants to keep Minncino with her. She chose to keep Minncino in exchange for Woobat. "Now, I have my own Minncino!"
"Eevee, vee!" Kairi said.
"That was a good catch, Kairi!" Sora said.
"Thank you, Sora," Kairi said. Kairi gave Sora a kiss on the lips and he kisses her back.
Later that night, Sora and Kairi looked up in the night sky with the both of them holding hands.
"It's so lovely," Kairi said.
"It sure is," Sora agreed.
The couple looked over to Pikachu and Angel cudling next to each other.
"It's a good thing Lana taught Ven how to fish before. It sure came in handy," Kairi said.
"Yeah. I knew it was going to come in handy when Ven starts his very own journey one day," Sora said.
"And I'm looking forward to it. Ven will make a great trainer someday. But there is one thing I'm worried about," Kairi said.
"Yeah? What?" Sora asked.
"Well, I'm worred that Ven might feel like he's living under your shadow. People everywhere would just know him as your kid cousin, and not as Ventus," Kairi said.
"I was thinking the same thing. But, I know he can get pass that, because I never let my fame get the best of me. To be honest, I rerally didn't care if I became famous or not, because I had you, your family, my mom, my aunt, my uncle, Terra, Aqua, and all of my Pokémon with me," Sora said.
"I didn't either. And I felt the same way. I had you with me. And I'm hoping maybe Ven might have his own special someone of his own. The same can be said for your aunt. I know she would love Ven's dream girl the way she loved me," Kairi said.
"I know what you mean. But how about we let him just be Ven for right now," Sora said.
"Okay, let's do that. And here is somethign I want to do," Kairi said, givng her boyfriend a kiss on the lips. Sora kissed her back. Pikachu, Angel, Snivy, Tepig, Oshawott, Swadloon, Fraxure, Deerling, Purrloin, Emolga, Minccino, and Ducklett were watching the scene along with Axew. Axew was blushing as he covered his eyes. The Pokémon all fell asleep as Sora and Kairi soon went to sleep as Kairi clinged to her boyfriend in her sleep.
