The moon shined overhead; stars brilliantly displayed for the couple lying beneath them.
A soft hand found calloused fingers and entwined with them.
"Sesshomaru?"
"Kagome."
"I'm sorry."
Amber eyes slid to her profile, waiting.
She took a strengthening breath.
"I don't know what'll happen once we get home," she explained.
"Meaning?"
"What if... what if this," she gestured between them. "Changes, or what if it never happens? Or what if this doesn't even work? Or, or –"
A clawed finger silenced her rambling.
"We will prevail, Kagome. As we always have."
"Promise?" She whispered.
He nodded, sealing it with a kiss.
