Chapter 494 Esai Makes a Plan

"

Esai suspected a trap and he was on high alert, but there was Maria at a table in the mall and everything looked OK. He didn't see any Mayans. He hadn't eaten in more than two days, so he eagerly took the food on the table and ate it while she told him how much she had worried about him.

No one knew the source of the trouble he was in but most assumed it had something to do with his MC. He'd been down to his last ten dollars when he connected with Maria and she told him that his father wanted to give him money and a new ID that she'd seen with her own eyes, he'd been desperate enough to take the risk.

The deal was she would get some money from her father but only if she gave him the money and he called his father to confirm that he'd been given the money. He'd taken the money into the bathroom and counted it before calling his father. He hoped this money and ID was his father's way of offering him a way back home after a few years spent in exile.

When he spoke to his father, he'd been actually kind and understanding. He hoped his father was being sincere, but Marcus Alvarez was a ruthless man and a true outlaw MC president. That meant he put the MC ahead of his own son.

Esai was the second of four sons and he'd always felt disposable. He'd tried so hard to prove himself and failed miserably. Whatever his father's motives, Esai was grateful for the money and ID.

He got a milkshake at the food court and dropped the phone Maria had given him into the shopping bag of a woman. He was sure his father was using the phone to track him; that's why he'd gotten rid of it. He wondered if the woman would get a knock at her door and find a group of Mayans there. They wouldn't be there to say "hola" that's for sure.

For a few moments, some of the extreme stress he'd been living under since he'd been on the run eased. He was fairly safe at the mall unless there was one of those deranged guy mass shootings, but he was armed too and could take care of a shooter.

He decided to buy a few clothes now that he had a little money. He needed to decide if he should sell his car and take the bus to Alaska or drive his car. He'd still need transportation in Alaska and things were more expensive there, so he decided to keep the car.

Since his money had run low, he'd been sleeping in his car. It was better than staying in an abandoned building with the rats and roaches. Tonight, he was going to treat himself to a motel room.

With his shopping bags in his hands, Esai walked to his car, drove to a rundown motel on the outskirts of Oakland and got a room for the night. He might have money but he wasn't going to go crazy and get a nice motel room. He just wanted a bed, a toilet and a shower. He liked to be well groomed and he hadn't had a shower in almost a week. It would be great to be clean and to put on clean clothes. He'd gotten some cookies and a sandwich from the food court before leaving because he knew he'd be hungry later.

He parked his car a few doors down from his actual room. It was a precaution so no one would know what room he was in. As he juggled his bags and inserted the key card into the door, a van slammed to a stop, the doors were flung open and a bunch of guys got out and forced him into his motel room. It happened in the blink of an eye. He didn't even have time to reach for the gun in the waistband of his jeans.

The men looked vaguely familiar. Then he realized who these familiar men were; it was the Sons. He recognized Jax Teller.

Esai was smart enough to know that the chances of his leaving that motel room alive were next to zero.

Author's Note: I just wanted to mention again that I have another story called Taming Ava/Fixing Jax that is an "M" so you have to change your filters to read it. I hope you give it a try. It's funny and a little crazy.
