Davis: Died on Barataria. His ship Four Rooks ended up being taken by Yvonne Smith.
French, Graham: The oldest of all space traders. Flies on the Circe (formerly the Star Conqueror).
Jones, Max: Flies on the Asgard. Known for being beaten by Shard on the way to sell the mass duplicator.
Prospero: Flies on the Triboulet.
Regos, Philip: Husband to Sdina Betin Sdi, who died on Summerland. Flies on the Beautiful Alice.
Shard, Rockwell: A fan of long-range jumps. Known for being the first to bring the mass duplicator to Earth. Flies on the Mischievous Beauty.
Smith, Edward: Flies on the Skylark of Space. Along with his wife Yvonne, he found Davis's ship on Barataria and took possession of it.
Smith, Yvonne: Edward Smith's ex-wife, who ran away from him on the ship Four Rooks, which she rechristened to the Bursting Smith.
