Chapter time babbyyyyyy

I do not own 'Fairy Tail' or 'The Gamer'

I weaved around another punch with a jump to the side as I slid across the ground.

"Go get 'em Natsu!" A flying blue-haired cat shouted from the sidelines, "You can get him this time!"

"Let's see how you like this ya bastard!" He shouts as his hands are put over his head, "[Fire Dragon's Brilliant Flame!]"

A sphere of fire was hurled in my direction as I leaped upwards to avoid it and gently landed on the ground.

The year was now X779, around the end of it, which marks two years since the dragonslayers arrival and a lot has happened since then.

I was now 13 years old.

The Strauss siblings had arrived in the tail-end of last year, which allowed me to sigh in relief. I didn't know when they would arrive into the guild other than it being after the X777 debacle.

Mira had trouble controlling her magic as she believed that it was some sort of possession, luckily Makarov was able to defuse the situation explaining to her that it was actually [Take Over] magic that she was doing. Her relationship with Erza could be described as passively aggressive, they didn't hate each other per se but they liked to be very competitive that's for sure. Although, every time they do fight, Erza effectively beats her as Mira isn't that good yet and the requip mage was constantly training, she was now nearing mid A-rank status.

It's still impressive that Mira was able to hold her own though.

Elfman was odd from what I remember, he was extremely shy and introverted, mostly referring to his elder sister for anything as he wasn't very confident in himself. He wasn't the macho-man yet, perhaps something will change that in the future.

Lisanna was as cheerful as always. She and Kagura became fast friends basically doing everything together, from shopping to light training. I mentally promised myself that once the 'Beast' quest was taken by them, I would shadow their path and watch from afar. She was Kagura's best friend and I'll be damned if my inaction takes that away from her.

All the Strauss siblings are capable of using [Take Over] magic, while for Mira it was her inherent magic, that meant it was stronger for her as it's the manifestation of one's spirit.

Which explains why it's easy for her rather than the other two.

When you learn magic it's inherently weaker than someone who naturally attained it. My [Lightning Magic], while powerful in its own right, still cannot match up to Laxus in sheer power alone as he is attuned to it. Add in his [Lightning Dragon Slayer Magic] and he's a monster in the electricity department.

The Exceed duo of Carla and Happy had appeared not too long after the Strauss family and hatched a few weeks afterward. Their personalities were the same as their canon equivalents as the white-haired cat stuck more with Wendy. While Natsu and Lisanna had the blue-haired furball they raised together.

I snapped out of my thoughts as the resident pink-haired boy ran at me, determined to get a hit in.

We've been at it for just about 1 hour and I'm quite honestly surprised Natsu was still attacking me at the same speed since the beginning, he's all about perseverance, it's his character I suppose.

"I'll hit you for sure with this!" The dragonslayer bellows as I roll my eyes but smile softly taking note of his resolve, "[Fire Dragon's Iron Fist!]"

With his hand lit ablaze, Natsu punches at me with a wide swing, aimed directly at my face.

Skill Level Up!

Physical Endurance 49 - 50 (MAXED)

Current decrease to damage: 50%

The skill maxing out makes sense, you can't decrease 100% of damage. I also remember that my [Reflexes] and [Listening] skills maxed out at level 50 as well.

An explosion echoed across the field as I could hear Natsu gasp in shock.

I caught his attack with one hand and slightly moving backward from the position I was in.

"What the he-" Before he could even finish his sentence, I clutched his fist and threw him across the field.

The fire dragonslayer redirected himself to skid across the ground, but by the time he looked up, my fist was centimeters from his face. It slammed into him sending Natsu flying back into the dirt.

The groan afterward prompted the end of the fight.

"You can't just ask to fight me every time you finish the missions I told you to do ya know," I sighed helping him up from the ground, "You have to train too."

"Yeah, I know," He replied in a slightly agitated voice, "But you're the only one who lets me fight!"

I snorted at his statement, but it was true.

Natsu tried challenging the other members of the guild, but was either declined or was beaten down before he could land anything. At this point, even Gray could beat the guy as he trained more after seeing the Mikazuchi sisters and myself in action. This had a ripple effect within the guild causing everyone to train more often, one of the good changes I've made.

"You've been training Wendy, why don't you focus on that?" This time Happy joined in on the conversation using his wings to fly over to us.

"She's definitely becoming stronger because of Natsu," I said putting my hand on his shoulder and giving him a nod, "You should be proud of that."

Wendy was currently sitting at level 28 and is only 7 years old. Even I wasn't that strong at her age, Grandeeny picked well by taking her as an apprentice. Her potential is enormous and it needed to be properly molded and who better to do it than a fellow slayer. Of course, I'll provide some help if she needs it, but surprisingly Natsu was a fairly good teacher for the girl.

"I guess you're right!" He answered with a grin that I was all too familiar with, "I'm going to train super hard so I can beat you!"

"Remember our promise Natsu," I told him as he gave me a thumbs up.

"More missions! More fighting!"

I chuckled as the dragonslayer and his flying companion raced off into the guild as took a leisurely walk following behind them.

I wasn't going to babysit the guy, but giving him pointers and the occasional spar was what I planned on doing. He needed to learn and come to conclusion on his own, which was the direction I was pushing him towards by taking those missions. I fully believe that beginning of the series Natsu was high A-rank in terms of battle power and with dragon force, he'd be beyond that.

Entering the guild from the back entrance, I was greeted by several members while passing by them. I didn't really interact with any of the older members, but it looks like the 'super genius' title has reached their ears.

I'm going to have to get Gray back for that.

"Hey Danny!" Someone called out as I looked over to see Lisanna waving at me with Kagura who was acting strange.

My [Sensory Magic] is telling me she is embarrassed about something, but I didn't worry about it as I made my way towards them.

"So what's up Lisanna?" I asked as she had a wide smile on her face.

"Are you going to be busy any time soon~" She questioned as the purple-haired girl beside her started to get flustered.

"I'm pretty much free," I responded raising an eyebrow as Kagura became even more unsettled, "Do you need something?"

"Well~" Her grin grew further as she nudged her best friend, "I think she has something to say about that, don't you Kagura?"

The person in question was beet-red causing me to be even more confused, but she responded soon enough.

"W...Would you like to um...go with me to the...c...cake shop later today." She stuttered with her eyes closed as I slightly tilted my head to the side.

"Sure, I'm fine with that," I said with a nod which had the purple-haired girl widen her eyes and Lisanna smirk, "Just call me on the Lacrima and I'll answer."

"Great!" The youngest of the Strauss siblings answered with a roll of her tongue, "She'll be there~"

Increased reputation with Lisanna Strauss.

Increased reputation with Kagura Mikazuchi.

I always thought that 'Exalted' was the maximum I could get concerning reputation with someone, so why is it still increasing with Kagura?

In any case, I made my way towards the outskirts of town, keen on getting some training.

"So where is the shop exactly?" I asked looking around Magnolia seeing the everyday citizens of the town bustling about.

"It's...not that...uh far," Kagura stated, her cheeks tinted red as we made our way through the town.

What was making her all nervous?

She never acted like this before.

About a few minutes of traveling, my [Sensory Magic] alerted me that we were being followed. As I continued to walk, I reached out with my senses to pinpoint who exactly this was, and I was even more confused as to who it was.

Natsu, Gray, Lisanna, Erza, and Wendy were trailing not that far from our position. I also was able to detect both Happy and Carla flying near the rooftops watching from the sky. The group was trying to blend in with the populace and from what I could see glancing at windows that reflected in their direction, they had goofy costumes on while masquerading as ordinary citizens.

It was like a comedy director trying to do a stealth scene and Kagura didn't even notice a thing.

What were they doing here anyway?

Natsu and Gray were both annoyed from what I could sense. Lisanna was extremely excited and eager about something. Erza was nervous, hopeful, and worried all happening at the same time.

Wendy was just glad to be there which made me let out a snort.

She was too innocent for this world.

I ignored them, seeing as they didn't cause a problem with the people or us, but I kept my eye out lest Natsu tries to pull off a prank or something along those lines.

"Danny," Kagura nudged me on the shoulder and pointed forward, "Um...we're here."

It was a relatively large building with the 'Magnolia Cake Shop' sign right in the center of it. Not a very original title, but I suppose it gets the job done. Giving her a nod, we made our way inside the store.

The shop wasn't filled to the brim with people, but there was a fair amount of chatting amongst each other.

"They are inside, I repeat, they are inside." I heard the voice of what seemed to be Lisanna through my [Listening] skill, but I could sense her at the store across from the cake shop, "Get in position."

Get in position?

"So what are would you two would like today?" My thoughts were interrupted by one of the waitresses looking at both me and Kagura curiously.

"Do you have ice cream cake?" Ever since Erza let me have a slice of one, I fell in love with it instantly, "If you don't have it that's fine."

"Of course we do, and for your friend?" She asked glancing over to Kagura who was just standing still like a robot.

"Get the same thing he did." Once again I caught the sound of Lisanna, but I still didn't know why it was so close.

"Ice cream cake sounds fine to me." The purple-haired girl answered almost immediately as I raised an eyebrow.

"Would that be a separate cake or a large one together?" She requested with a twitch on her lips upwards, "It's actually cheaper if it's one big cake."

"Together before he can say anything." The novice take-over mage suggested as I opened my mouth to say something.

"Together." Kagura quickly announced as I blinked twice.

What exactly was going on?

Nevertheless, we sat down at an empty table as we waited for our food to arrive.

"I'm going to assume Erza showed you this place?" They were sisters after all, why wouldn't the cake-eating champion show her around.

"Yes, she did," Kagura stated with a nod.

She has been acting strangely ever since the Strauss family came into the guild, more specifically when she and Lisanna started becoming friends. I'm honestly getting worried that something happened.

[Daughter of Emilia, sister of Simon, and adopted sister of Erza Mikazuchi. Kagura uses the loss of her family as fuel to grow stronger and to make sure her new one doesn't fall to the same fate. She values Erza and Danny more than anything in the world as they give her the drive to keep moving forward. Kagura yearns to one day be reunited with her elder sibling if he's out there somewhere. She wants to tell you something, but doesn't have the courage to.]

Magic: [Gravity Magic], [Sensory Magic], [Requip].

Reputation: [?]

I've seen all of this minus the last sentence, the fact that she knows [Requip] magic though she probably learned it from Erza, and the reputation change which was now just a '?'

What does she want to tell me?

Her improvements stat-wise were something I was proud of her about as I knew she trained herself constantly and on a regular basis. I would put Kagura at around High B-rank or Low A-rank which was remarkable given how old she was. At the rate she's going, she'll be S-rank standard by the time she's 15 or 16.

Damn impressive if you ask me.

"Here's your cake you two." The waitress had arrived with quite the large cake in hand placing it in between us. Oddly enough I was able to sense extreme amounts of amusement with a hint of delight in both her tone, "Remember to take your time~!"

"Th..thank you," Kagura replied as the older woman giggled while heading back to the counter.

"Let's dig in!" I announced as I grabbed a fork and was ready to start eating.

"Get a slice and put it in his mouth."

"What?!" The gravity mage semi-shouted as the skin color on her face was that of Erza's hair.

"Are you okay Kagura?" Not only was she talking to Lisanna, but something else was going on that was obviously bothering the promising mage, "Is something wrong?"

Her eyes quickly darting to mine as she took a deep breath calming down a bit.

"N...no nothing is w...wrong."

"I see..." I said while noting that she was shifting in her seat, I didn't buy what she said, but I'll respect her privacy even if I used 'observe' on her which was kind of hypocritical of me, "If you need to talk about anything just know that I'm here for you, I always will be, no matter what."

I wasn't an idiot, well kind of. I knew that Kagura liked me, but she's just a child right now and it would be weird for a reincarnated soul such as myself to reciprocate.

Maybe sometime in the future that will change.

Reputation increase with Kagura Mikazuchi.

Reputation increase with Lisanna Strauss.

Reputation increase with Gray Fullbuster.

Reputation increase with Natsu Dragneel.

Reputation increase with Erza Mikazuchi.

Reputation increase with Wendy Marvell.

Reputation increase with Carla.

Reputation increase with Happy.

Holy, that is a lot of notifications.

"Danny..." Her eyes widened as emotions came out of her like a tsunami.

Joy.

Envy.

Appreciation.

Those were the three that I was able to sense predominantly from her.

"You're strong Kagura, I doubt you'll need any help, either way, you have your sister for that, " I stated with absolute confidence in my voice, "So let's dig into this before it melts."

Reputation increase with Kagura Mikazuchi.

Reputation increase with Erza Mikazuchi.

I'm fairly certain that they're all listening in right now.

"This is why I..." A smile graced her face, but I could see a touch of somberness to it, "Thank you Danny, it means a lot."

"Don't worry about it," I lightly chuckled as I turned my attention back to the cake, "Let's start eating!"

With a nod from Kagura, we began to devour the ice cream cake.

What a strange day it has been.

"Come on!" Gray called out from my doorstep as I rushed towards him, "It might start soon"

"Hold your horses," I replied as I made it to the front door, "Alright, let's go."

With that, we dashed off to the guildhall.

It was nearing the end of the year as the snow started to build up around this time. It was notably colder than the previous years I've been in this world for, but I can just use my magic to heat up my body which was a strange thing I found out not too long ago.

Master Makarov was expected to announce who the S-class candidates will be today and Gray was eager to figure out who it was. The guild master was now announcing who was going to be picked rather than telling them privately to increase competition and make people work harder.

Quite the tactic by the old man.

I've also noticed a trend in the trials, every few years would always be a trip to Tenrou Island, while others were at randomly chosen places. It's been a while since the sacred grounds have been arranged as a testing spot, so it's plausible that will be the case this year.

My apartment wasn't that far from the guild as I actually lived fairly close to where Lucy's future home would be, but at this time, it wasn't constructed as of now.

After a few minutes, we made it into the guild as everyone was going about their business in a 'normal' manner. I found it hilarious that it was only in December was the guild really tried to act sane.

Gray motioned me to where the rest of our age was sitting. From what I could sense, they also were very keen on finding out who was going to be selected. Probably hoping that they might be one of them.

"I'm going to get picked for sure!" Natsu stated as he slammed his fist into an open palm, "Then I'll beat the crap out of that old man!"

"You can't even beat Erza or Mira, and that's not even talking about Danny," The ice-make mage snorted as the dragonslayer gave him a small glare, "How are you even going to hit Gildarts?"

"With my fist of course!" He quickly replied as everyone let out a sigh while I merely chuckled.

Natsu was so straightforward that it was hilarious. The guy was a goofball most of the time, but I guess that's almost every shounen protagonist. Even so, seeing it in person is very amusing though.

"Sure you will fire clown," Gray said while rolling his eyes.

"What was that pervy flasher!" Natsu shouted stood up gazing as the other did the same, "You wanna go?!"

"Did I hear something from you too?" Erza perked up from her strawberry cake as the rival duo quickly went quiet, "That's what I thought."

"Those buffoons will bicker with each other over anything." Carla shook her head in Wendy's lap towards the two who continued to be mute.

"Aye!" Happy shouted, instantly agreeing with his fellow Exceed which only made her huff.

"Alright everyone settle down." The voice of Makarov echoed throughout the guild as everyone turned their attention to him as he stood on the railing of the second floor, "I'm sure you all know what I'm about to say, but let's get this over with, shall we?"

He took a jug of what I assume to be alcohol as he resumed his speech.

"It is my honor and privilege to choose these individuals as S-class candidates for this year's trials."

The entire guild listened closely to what the Wizard Saint had to say.

"Cana Alberona!"

"Erza Mikazuchi!"

"Bickslow!"

"Macao Conbolt!"

"Evergreen!"

"Wakaba Mine!"

"And Daniel Mizuno!"

"There will be no partners for this year's trials." Makarov stated as he flipped onto the first floor, "Remember, it will start in two days, so be prepared!"

There was silence for a time, until everyone burst into applause that echoed throughout the guild.

Our little group started congratulating me and the others who were chosen between us.

Quest Alert!

S-Class Trials

To cower in fear or shine in the light? That is the true question.

Objective: Become an S-class mage.

Bonus Objective: ?

Rewards: 25,000 EXP, ?, ?

Bonus Rewards: ?

Failure: Wait another year until the next trials.

Y/N

The 'N' was grayed out so I couldn't deny the quest even if I wanted to.

I knew this would happen eventually, but now that it was here, I didn't really know what to say.

Being the 'Gamer' let me grow at a much faster rate than my peers. The fact that I'm 3 times faster than Kagura who is a solid mage in her own right was crazy.

How strong will I be once canon begins?

What was my peak potential?

'Who Am I?'

It always came back to that question.

The quest has been nagging me for some time now and I still haven't got a clue what it means. I've been researching ever since I received it, using the poem I wrote down as a reference point, and I still wasn't able to discover anything.

Another quest in particular was on my mind just as much.

'The King of Kings'

I still don't know why I accepted this, killing Acnologia is going to painfully difficult, especially if Makarov couldn't even lay a scratch on the creature.

I barely gave the quest any kind of thought.

This was just one of those things where you do something on impulse, like an instinctual reflex that you do immediately.

It was like I was...pushed...to do it.

"Alright, that's it!" Natsu roared as he stomped his way towards me, "Danny you're going to fight me right now!"

Before the dragonslayer could do anything though, Lisanna grabbed him by the ear, and dragged him out of the guild.

"It seems we'll be competing in the trials." I looked up at Erza who patted me on my shoulder, "May the best of us win."

Giving Erza a nod, the requip mage made her way to leave.

I had a few things that I wanted to work on before the trials begin.

With that, I proceeded to head home, keen on getting some last-minute training in.

The sun was sitting directly above at its zenith as we continued to sail across Fiore's ocean.

Erza sat next to me enjoying the food Kagura had prepared for her. The purple-haired girl was an exceptional cook, being on par with Mira in that regard. I'll have to ask her if she could make me something at some point.

Erza Mikazuchi

Lvl 51

She's gotten stronger just like Kagura had, this trial will be interesting that's for sure.

I was familiar with the path we were taking as I've taken it before.

This would lead straight to the sacred grounds.

Tenrou Island.

If I were to scale my power to the guild right now, I'd say I would be the strongest member with the exception of Gildarts, Makarov, and Laxus. The lightning dragonslayer was about level 73 and I was sitting at 64.

I was slowly catching up to him.

My guess for Makarov taking so long to pick me for the trial was probably because he wanted to have another look at the library. He didn't have the chance to before as I fell unconscious before he could do any substantial reading.

+1 INT

Whenever I use my [Sensory Magic] on him, he's anxious and somewhat worried which was understandable given how everything went last time. I just got to hope that nothing out of the ordinary occurs during the trials.

I let out a sigh.

I probably just jinxed it.

Makarov Dreyar [Thought Projection]

Lvl ?

He's a projection, which suggests the master is likely on the island already.

Did he teleport somehow?

Even after my gruesome amounts of training, I still can't see his level.

"Alright everyone listen up!" The Wizard Saint shouted as all of the candidates turned their attention to the guild master as he looked between all of us with a stern gaze, "The first part of the trial begins now!"

"What do you mean now?" Evergreen questioned with a confused expression, "We haven't even arrived yet."

"Your first task is to get to the Island and go through one of the paths your choosing." Makarov pointed to Tenrou Island which was a fair distance away from the ship, an adequate amount of ocean that was in our way to reach it, "There are only four routes which means three of you will surely fail."

Everyone widened their eyes as they took what he said.

"The second part of the exam will wait for you once you're able to pass this one, so I suggest you get moving!"

With that, he faded away telling us that he was a mere [Thought Projection].

The old man planned this from the start.

There was a slight pause before the entire group raced off, but my attention focused completely on the island.

"[Lightning Body!]" My entire body becomes a glowing electric blue light as I shot off towards Tenrou like a rocket causing the ocean below to depart due to the sheer wind pressure I was exuding.

I reached out with my [Sensory Magic] one last time to feel the others not that far behind me.

YOU HAVE ENTERED THE SACRED GROUNDS OF TENROU ISLAND AS A MEMBER OF FAIRY TAIL.

50% to STR, DEX, and VIT as long as The Great Tenrou Tree is standing.

As I received the alert, my sensory abilities became flooded with magic as I lost my ability to sense on a wider scale.

Mavis probably knows I'm here now, I'm sure she'll be very curious just like back then, but I turned my focus towards reaching the island.

I went at a moderate pace as using this lightning spell, in particular, was costly on my reserves so I didn't want to go full speed. It was likely that the second part was the fighting portion and it would be stupid to waste everything here.

The other combatants were still following behind, but were close enough to be a problem. It was interesting to see Macao using his [Purple Flare] magic to make a flying carpet under him or Bickslow using his dolls to carry him over the ocean.

After a while, I finally touched the sandy beach of the island and using my Magic Augmentation perk to increase my speed to a dash. The place we were meant to go was clear as there were arrows pointing in the direction we needed to go.

I glanced back to see the others landing about a minute after I did.

Halting to a stop, I saw the four paths with no markers or anything that indicate which one would be better.

Sometimes everything was based on chance and that was what Makarov was testing us on.

Without hesitation, I took the 3rd path as the second I entered, a wall of runes blocked the entrance to it.

No way back.

Just forward.

I sat down on the floor for a few minutes, utilizing my [Meditation] skill to refill my magic and to prepare myself for the inevitable. Walking down the path, it zigzagged around the forest until I could see a dark cave up ahead.

"Well...looks like it'll be my lucky day." A voice echoed from inside as I could hear footsteps marching out from it, "I was hoping to go on a long quest, but this might be entertaining enough."

He was a tall muscular man with shoulder-length slicked-back orange hair. His well-toned body was easy to see, even from the distance I was at. The man wears a long, black, high-collared, and tattered cloak with shoulder plates; around his waist is a simple belt. He also wears loose-fitting dark pants, complete with an armored waist-guard bearing plate similar to the ones on his shoulders, tucked inside simple boots.

"How long has it been since we've talked kid?" He said with a small smile on his face, "Or should I say Mr. Prodigy now?"

I really did jinx myself badly this time.

"It's been a while...Gildarts."

Godzilla and King Kong are going to team up against something, calling it now!

S-class trials are underway!

Danny's biggest flaw was showcased during his interaction with Kagura.

It's been implied over and over again.

He's too focused on the past and future rather than noticing what's in front of him. He simply shrugs it off to the side and goes back to planning or researching.

Also, he just sees her as a child at the moment.

Will this come back to bite him later on?

Who knows.

Until Next Time!
