Homeless Camp.
Ranma lost no time as she swiftly went over and kicked the closest monster in the face, it falling backwards as it's handlers ran out of the falling beast's path.
"Get everyone out of here! Now!" Ranma shouted to Alick and Lars.
Alick and Lars quickly pulled themselves together as they grabbed the nearest people next to them and pulled them away towards the hidden entrance, the rest following them.
"Don't let them get away!" shouted a soldier.
As the men started positioning their weapons, Ranma quickly shot Ki blasts shaped as saw blades at the men closes to the fleeing crowd. The blade cut the tips of their weapons, rendering them useless. She lost no time as she shot several more energy blasts at the soldiers, blasting several of them into the wall.
"Meta-human! Release the Monster Men!" shouted a soldier who appeared to be the leader.
The four men holding the second and third Monster Men released their chains as the monsters ran towards Ranma. Ranma dodged the first's ones punch as she maneuvered onto the second one's head and elbowed it. As the monster sank down onto it's knees, Ranma's eyes quickly locked onto a soldier advancing towards the mother and her child, who were going slower than the rest. The soldier nearly made a grab at them before a Ki blade separated arm from man.
"Leave them alone!" shouted Ranma before instinctively jumping up out the Monster Man's reach, blood seeping out of the wound Ranma inflicted.
"Talk about a hard he-AAAHH!" shouted Ranma as a blast of energy from one the the tanks hit her.
Her body landed on the ground as the three Monster Men advanced on her again, all three stomping on her body with their large feet.
"Meta-Human neutralized" shouted the Lead Soldier "Take the remains back to base"
"What of the targets sir?" asked another soldier. The homeless people were able to make their way out of the room thanks to Ranma's distraction.
"Hunt down the stragglers. Halt operations for two days before recommencing with test subject draft. Meanwhile report to-"
Suddenly an inhuman wail filled the room. The noise came from a Monster Man, long Ki claws coming from Ranma's right hand stabbing it under it's head, the sharp tips poking out of it's dome. Ranma herself stared up, her eyes filled with venom. The white in her eyes were replaced with red while the green iris overtook the pupil.
The lead soldier stared in horror. "Mother of-"
The Monster Man kept wailing in agony as Ranma kept looking up at it hatefully. The other two Monster Men stayed still for several more seconds before proceeding to keep stomping on Ranma. The instant the stomping continued, Ranma yanked her claws out the the Monster's skull as she leapt upon the second Monster Man and started slashing at it's chest, her other hand also covered in Ki. As the first Monster Man fell over dead, the second one screamed in agony as Ranma violently ripped it's chest open with each slash. The third Monster Man didn't even have time to react before Ranma suddenly shot a concentrated Ki blast at it's head, it's head popping like a balloon filled with lunch meat.
The soldiers in the room could only stare in horror as this girl stood atop it's victims.
"Fire!" shouted the Lead Soldier.
Any man still standing shot every weapon at the girl and as the tanks took aim. Ranma snarled as the blasts kept hitting her body, shredding her clothes, but not harming her body. She let out a violent roar before rushing at the soldiers.
.
Gotham Slum District/Red Hood Hideout.
"I assume you have a guess or two about who's been taking these people?" asked Batman.
"A few guesses" said Red Hood "Ra's could be on a recruitment drive. H.I.V.E. could want test subjects for Meta Human experimenting. The world's full of crooks Bruce"
"I'll look into this when I return to the Batcave and give Nightwing and Batgirl new instructions" said Batman "But first Ranma needs to be found"
"Good luck with that" said Red Hood jovially.
"And you're going to help me if they can't find her"
Jason was rolling his eyes under his helmet. "Not my business"
"She's lost in Gotham because of you. I've already told you her mental state is hanging on through thin wires"
"If she becomes someone Arkham can't keep locked up, then start talking with me"
"Her mental state is only half the problem" said Batman "Her powers are another thing. I've seen her maim men twice as tough as you or I. Those powers were focused for a good cause then, but what happens when she can no longer lead that fury towards one goal"
Red Hood stayed silent as he took that in. The idea of crooks and villains getting grisly killed didn't bother him. But he still cared about the innocent people of Gotham.
Suddenly a device on Batman's belt started beeping. Using his free hand, Batman detached his communicator from his belt and brought it up to his ear.
"Did you find her?" asked Batman.
.
Gotham Sewers.
"No" said Batgirl as Nightwing talked to a man with a horn on his forehead called Alick. "But we found homeless people that made contact with her. They said they were attacked by armed men and fled as she held them off.
.
Gotham Slum District/Red Hood Hideout.
"Proceed to help her" said Batman "I'll make my way over. Batman out"
"So found your pet furry?" joked Red Hood as Batman deactivated his communicator.
"And she found our mysterious kidnappers" said Batman.
"Did she?" said an intrigued Red Hood.
"Your still coming with me Jason" said Batman.
"As fun as it would be see the old gang, I got better things to do"
Batman instinctively brought his cape over his face as Red Hood threw a small ball at Batman. The instant the ball made contact, smoke erupted into the room. The smoke faded in three seconds, but Red Hood was gone. Several things from his desk were missing, including several firearms.
Batman could only narrow his eyes.
.
Homeless Camp Entrance.
"This way" said Nightwing as they found the tunnel Alick instructed them towards.
"We gotta help this girl before-"
But Batgirl stopped in her tracks as they entered the room, both their eyes wide in horror.
Dozens of soldiers were dead on the ground, hacked away at. Two tanks were aflame, reduced to scrap. And three unnaturally large men were violently ripped apart.
"Dear Lord" said Nightwing.
"Dick, look!" shouted Batgirl.
Against the corner of the room still intact, Ranma was laying in a fetal position. Ki claws were still intact as steam was lightly coming off her body, which was a light shade of green.
"Gently Dick" said Batgirl as she eyed the girl.
"Alright" said Nightwing as he slowly walked towards the girl, Batgirl behind her.
Before words could be said, Ranma's eyes, which were pure green, widen as Ranma sprung onto her feet and faced the two, baring her sharp teeth and growling like an animal.
"Whoa! Friends! We're friends!" declared Batgirl as she lifted her hands up.
"I don't think she understands" said Nightwing as they took several steps back.
Ranma just kept staring at the two as more steamed erupted off her skin, her claws shining a brilliant red.
?
Ranma opened her eyes as she looked around.
"No" whispered Ranma in horror as the setting around her focused in.
She was back in Japan.
Back in Nerima,
Back at the Tendo Dojo.
The Tendo Dojo on fire.
"No. No. No no no NO!" said Ranma as she tried to back away, but she couldn't move backwards. Her body wouldn't listen to her. She couldn't even close her eyes. Oh how she wished she could close her eyes.
Her mother's body covered Kasumi and Nabiki, as if trying to shield them in death.
Mr. Tendo's lifeless body was on it's knees, red blood dripping of his mustache.
Her father's body was crushed along with the ground around him.
Happosai's pipe was drenched in the puddle of blood around it.
Shampoo was smoldering, the smell of rotting flesh around her.
Mousse was pinned to the wall by his own weapons, reflected back at him.
Ukyo's spatula snapped in half next to her mangled body.
Kuno was on his back as his sword was piercing his heart.
Kodachi was hanging from a street light by her own ribbon.
And Akane.
...Akane.
Akane was laid on her stomach, Ryoga's bandana in her left hand. Her body looked so untouched. So intact. But Ranma knew that if she were rolled over, her eyes would be blank.
"Not again!" shouted Ranma "NOT AGAIN! NOT AGAIN!"
The last two words were echoed with a demonic male voice, her body outright on fire.
{Master}
Her eyes shot open.
She was no longer in Japan and the bodies were gone.
She was now in Jusenkyo.
"Wh-what?"
{This change is mine. Little Master.}
Ranma turned to the voice and saw a man was standing there.
His entire body was covered in a black full body coat with red marking covering the lower half of the sleeves. His hood covered his entire head, the mouth of the hood only showing darkness.
"What are you?" asked a shaken Ranma. "Who are you?"
{The second question is easier to answer first. I am Yrix. And I am your humble servant.} said Yrix as he bowed.
"My servant? But I never met your before"
{Indeed this is your first time interacting with me.} said Yrix as he scratched his chin, his black glove disappearing into the darkness of his hood's mouth. {But I have known you ever since you fell into my Master's pond.}
"... You mean when I fell into Jusenkyo again"
{Precisely.} said Yrix as he clapped his hands {The Nishui Moshen Zhi-Quan. My former master's grave.}
"I don't understand what's going on" said Ranma as she clenched her face.
{Hmm. Where to begin? I assume you are aware of a powerful Demon falling into Jusenkyo?} Ranma nodded {Of course you do. Well let me tell you that the official version is a lie. Long ago, my Master sought to conquer the lands for the sole purpose of having his name indented into the Universe himself. He gathered supporters like me to help extend his name. He conquered many lands and felled many adversaries. But there were those that opposed him. A fanatical group called the Order of Men were our most persistent thorn. They were a group that despised the idea of a demons and such existing on the same plain as humans. They sought to destroy my Master}
"So they turned to God?" asked Ranma, remembering the story.
{Hmm? Oh no.} said Yrix {That part was a fabricated lie to keep my Master's name tarnished. My Master was powerful and destructive, but not cruel. We conquered many lands, but we never left them as what people thought. But the Order of Men would always be our enemy. And I am shamed to say that it was they that caused my Master's destruction. Using various resources, they enacted a ritual. In exchange for the souls of every member of the Order of Men, the soul of my Master was set aflame. Like a fireball spreading through a tree, the power of the ritual destroyed my Master.}
"Plum said that he was struck by lightning" said Ranma.
{A half truth. The mere act of a Demon God's soul before destroyed is violent and destructive. A creature of lower intelligence would assume it was something more logical like Holy Lightning. But even as my Master's soul was being dissolved, his brain still worked. With his dying will, he guided his body into one of the empty springs of Jusenkyo.}
"Why?" asked Ranma.
{My Master has lived many years. And he had heard of Jusenkyo. The instant her was struck by the Ritual, he knew his goal had failed. He had made no offspring to continue his name. His soul would never be able to reincarnate or even reach the other plain in it's reducing state. And the anomalous properties of the curse would wipe the mere memory of his name from history. Even I regret to say I cannot remember his name} Yrix pinched in brim of his nose under his hood is despair {But with this tragedy, there was a sliver of hope. If he could not return, he would leave a successor. You.}
"Me!" said Ranma in shock "But that can't be. I'm a human. Why me? Why Jusenkyo?"
{Calm yourself my Young Master.} said Yrix as he held up his hands {Let me explain this as best I can. You are not his blood or his reincarnation. As I have said he had no child. Nor could his soul survive. But his body was still intact. The body he sunk into Jusenkyo as his soul finally faded. As his body fell into the recently empty spring, it disappeared out of existence. This is information the Guides never knew, but those that died as they drowned left more power than the ones that lived. The will of my Master still existed as it influenced Jusenkyo itself. That will had the Spring's guardians cut the spring off from rest of the land, so my Master's powers would not be sought out and abused.}
"...So Jusenkyo itself chooses who falls into which springs?"
{Most of the time.} said Yrix. {With the power of Jusenkyo capable of recreating my Master through a successor and the still existing Will of my Master, all was set for his return.}
"But how do you know all this?" asked Ranma "What are you?"
{I am an entity that exists as an observer. I stopped that role when my Master came into play. I was his advisor. And I existed on both the physical plain and the mental one. I stayed with my Master until the destruction of his soul. After that, I entered a dormant state until someone took the role of his successor.}
"But why so long?" asked Ranma "It had to been over a thousand years"
{A Will is not a soul.} said Yrix {Do you recoil your hand in pain because your brain tells it to? A Will is the essence of a person. Not the person itself. A Will is what keeps something alive when the body is at death's door. It is what makes people run into danger despite the odds. The will of my Master would never associate with the weak. The majority of those that visited Jusenkyo were the Amazons who punished their criminals by throwing them into springs of weak bodies or the Musk that committed pseudo bestiality by creating women of animal blood with their mating. Besides that were travelers that came for one reason or another.}
"Still, why me?" asked Ranma.
{I do not know.} said Yrix {I did not awaken until after your change. But speculations don't change the facts. My Master allowed you to fall into his spring and become his successor. To carry on the goal of etching your name into the Universe.}
"...I won't be a conqueror" said Ranma with slight determination.
{Not necessary.}
"Nani?"
{A thousand years have passed since my Master's end. The goal of conquering was for the sole purpose of etching his greatness into the Universe, for it was the most logical course of action for said goal. But the Earth and the Universe itself have changed. And your experience with this Justice League have opened up a new path.}
"What do you mean?"
{So many know the names of them. Is it because they save such a mast population? Is it because the have bested such powerful adversaries? Because they have accomplished feats so impossible? I must confess, I'm excited to see where such a prospect ends.}
"...Well tough beans. I'm not interested in greatness. Not after what I've been through?"
{Your encounter with the Chimera.}
Ranma widened her eyes in shock.
{Don't look so surprised Young Master. I have been inside your head for six months. I have seen your decimate that abomination. And I know what you lost to accomplish that fact.}
Ranma's eyes tightened.
{Please do not despair Master. I am not mocking your lost. I simply wish to understand and help your pain.}
"WHY?!" shouted Ranma, steam erupting off her again.
{Because I am connected to your mind. And I feel your pain.}
The steam slowed down before coming to a halt, Ranma taking in deep breathes.
{I do not blame you for falling to such depression. Great powers do not heal great wounds. It was I who shaped the voices in your head from your emotions.}
"You? Why?" asked Ranma meekly.
{To comfort and toughen you up.} said Yrix {With that body you could never kill yourself. So instead of wallowing in darkness for eternity, I made the voices to tether you into the real world. The voice of anger, in the voice of your old form, was made to toughen you and accept your faults. And the voice of comfort, in your own tone, was made for you to accept your pain and to love yourself, for it is a sad thing to hate oneself.}
"They just made me feel crazy" said Ranma.
{Yes. Sometimes I admit the voices did more damage than healing. But you did stop killing yourself for a time. And in that time, you found comfort in the real world thanks to the League. They too were suffering, so you trusted them faster than you should of. And as you stayed with them, they accepted you. And you in turn learned of their pain, pain which they have surpassed. Which you took inspiration to.}
Suddenly several images formed around. They were memories forming around Ranma.
{They showed you strength.} Ranma, Superman, Wonder Woman, and Green Lantern fighting Thanagarian Starships. {You found kindred spirits.} Shayera hugging Ranma goodbye. {You found comfort.} Ranma sitting on the roof with Supergirl. {You received a taste of closure.} Ranma reuniting with Dr. Tofu. {You ignited resolve.} Ranma and Superman standing in front of a grave. {The voices are gone, their purpose complete. But you still have one more thing to do before you can take the next step.}
"What?" was all Ranma could say.
.
Homeless Camp.
Nightwing pulled out his Escrima Sticks as Batgirl readied herself to throw several Batarangs. They would have to try to run.
Suddenly Ranma grabbed her own throat, her Ki claws digging into her own neck.
"NO!" said Ranma in a demonic voice, the words barely choked out. Her eyes were twitching and she was biting her tongue "No MORE! NO MORE!"
Suddenly a power surge erupted off Ranma, knocking Nightwing and Batgirl into the wall.
Batgirl quickly composed herself as she recovered. She turned back to Ranma to find her falling onto her knees before planting herself into the ground, her body still twitching.
"Ugh" groaned Nightwing as he adjusted herself "Are you alright?"
"I am" said Batgirl as she walked over to from, squatting down in front of her.
"Be careful" said Nightwing.
"Relax" said Batgirl as she placed a finger on Ranma's neck. "She fainted. But she's having a seizure"
Batgirl quickly turned her to her side. Ranma was luckily not biting her tongue, but her upper jaw was biting into her lower lip, drawing blood.
"Don't force her down if she starts struggling" said Nightwing as he squatted next to Batgirl.
"She isn't struggling" said Batgirl "But she won't stop biting her lip"
"She's grown back a nose. This will heal. But we got to keep her calm"
Batgirl and Nightwing spent several more minutes standing guard over Ranma as they kept her relaxed. Eventually she stopped biting her lips and started relaxing more.
.
Batcave.
Ranma shot her eyes up and sprung forward.
"Whoa, relax" said a voice "You're okay now"
Ranma took in deep breathes as she looked around. She was in the Batcave, herself in a medical bed. Her ruined clothes were gone and replaced by a medical gown. Standing next to her bed were two people, a man and a woman.
"You okay?" asked the man.
"Who are you guys?" asked Ranma.
"Nightwing and Batgirl" said Nightwing "We're part of Batman's little family"
Ranma stared at the two before silently laying back in bed and bringing the blanket over her nose.
"What's with that reaction?" asked Batgirl.
"His last helper shot me a stink gun" said Ranma, who stayed on guard.
"Oh that was Red Hood" said Batgirl. "He and Bruce aren't on good terms. But we're not going to hurt you"
Ranma stayed still before removing the blanket off her face.
"What happened?" asked Ranma.
"We found you underground" said Nightwing "You killed several men and nearly killed us. Don't you remember?"
Ranma pinched the brim of her nose "I remember running into the sewers. Then I met those homeless people. Then the soldiers came. I fought them. Then... nothing"
"It's okay" said Batgirl as she put a hand on Ranma's shoulder. "You can relax now"
Suddenly it came back to Ranma. The person who called himself Yrix. How he explained the Spring of Drowned Demon God and his connection to Ranma's curse. And reliving that horrible moment before then. Ranma grabbed her face as she tried to block out the world around her.
"Are you okay?" asked Batgirl.
"Batgirl. Nightwing"
The two turned and saw Batman walking over to them.
"Did you find Jason?" asked Nightwing.
"I did, but he ran" said Batman.
"I covered his tracks" deduced Batgirl.
"He was trained by the best" said Nightwing.
"Dick, Barbara. I would like a word with Ranma. Alone"
The two sensed this wasn't for them, so they made to leave. Batgirl gently patted Ranma on the shoulder before following Nightwing.
When it was just them, Batman stood before Ranma.
"Ranma" started Batman.
"Look Batman" said Ranma "I know J'onn told you what I did. So now your going to let me have it and tear me a new one. And after killing those soldiers and attacking your family, your going to punish me. And I'm never going to see you or Clark or Diana or Kara or anyone else again because your all disgusted with me because I'm vile and a monster and a disgrace and-"
"Ranma" interrupted Batman "It's not your fault"
Ranma stopped herself as she looked up into Batman's eyes, her shivering eyes trying to stay straight.
"It's not your fault"
Ranma let the words sink in before she choked and made a slight noise. With the noise came a wet feeling on her eyes. She made two more miserable sounds before suddenly breaking.
She flung her arms around Batman and buried her head into his chest as she started crying. Seven months of pain kept buried away all came out as Ranma's eyes poured out tears, the girl herself crying so harshly.
Batman stayed silent as he placed a reassuring hand on Ranma's back.
Ever since Batman met Ranma, he knew. He knew that this girl was in such agony. And she hated herself for it more than anyone. Ever since she left his Manor, he knew that before any real healing started, she would have to accept one fact.
She would have to want help.
She needed to accept she wasn't to blame.
She needed to acknowledge she deserved help just like anyone else.
Batman knew this cry wasn't the end of things. But for now, she needed it. So he stayed silent as the demon girl cried.
.
The next morning Ranma felt like she was three times lighter.
After breaking down, she cried herself to sleep. They left her alone for a while before waking her to ask if she would rather sleep in the room from before, which she accepted.
Ranma got up out of bed as she looked into the mirror, her face was dirty and her hair undone.
"I guess I brought the sewers back with me" said Ranma as she smelled herself. Now she felt bad for hugging Batman for another reason. "Which means I slept in a millionaire bed smelling like a septic tank. Ranma you dumb animal"
"It's still better than when you first came here"
Ranma quickly turned and saw something impossible.
Yrix was standing by the window and looking out.
"You!" shouted Ranma.
"Please Master, I am Yrix. Your humble servant. I would appreciate not being called you"
"What are you doing here?! I thought you lived in my mind?"
"I am connected to your mind" said Yrix "I am currently not in the real world. I am simply a mental image created for the purpose of communicating with you. I can not be seen or heard from except for you, my Master"
"So if I talk to you, I'll look crazy" said Ranma as she clasped her cheeks.
"I would advise against it, yes" said Yrix as he faced away from the window.
"So why are you here?" asked Ranma, half on guard.
"To congratulate you" said Yrix as he bowed "I told you that you only had one more step before you can go further into the world. And you found it. Self forgiveness"
"But, I thought I already did that" said Ranma.
"At the grave with Superman, but that was acceptance. You accepted the fact that your loved ones were gone. But you didn't forgive yourself for their deaths. And that could have undone your acceptance. That brief memory scare before our talk would of been such a case. And the reason you didn't see such hatred for yourself was because you fixed that pain to look like the League might hate you instead. But hearing such words of comfort from the one called Batman broke that hatred. You have risen above yourself. And will become something more"
"Look Yrix" said Ranma, using the creatures names for the first time "I appreciate the nice words, but I'm not going to trust some guy I met. Especially one that came from my demonic powers"
"I would not expect you to" said Yrix "Though I am curious to see how quick I could make you trust me, I would rather serve than be trusted. It has been so long since I have served. I will gladly serve a daughter of my Master"
"Daughter?" questioned Ranma.
"Simply a title" said Yrix "The powers from Jusenkyo are all that remain of my master besides his servants. You are the closes that he'll ever have to offspring"
"If his legacy was so important, why didn't he have kids of his own?" asked Ranma, trying to find some way to cut herself off from the creature. He wasn't evil, that much Ranma could tell. And he was genially concerned for her, although more for the memory of his master than her own concern. But trusting this thing so fast wasn't wise.
"Excellent question" said Yrix "Let me answer that question with another question. What is the best way to ruin a man's legacy? Through his descendants. I've seen it many times. Kings of Greatness handing their lands over to spoiled and lazy sons. Parents of fame raising useless and nameless offspring. People born into greatness don't understand greatness"
"I think I get you" said Ranma "But why was legacy so important to him?"
"Many think that ruling the Universe or reshaping the Universe is a great goal. But they are impossible tasks. After all, life is limited and change is unlimited. But memory is legacy. You humans adore dinosaurs simply because their bones were big"
"So... You don't want me to be a monster?" asked Ranma.
"Never my Master" said Yrix "As I said before, my Master simply conquered because that was what life was back then. People stepping on another and the strongest on top. But the world and it's games have changed. Strength is different"
"...I still don't feel hyped about this legacy thing" said Ranma. She didn't like the sound of being forced onto a path, even if it wasn't conquering and murder.
"Understandable" said Yrix "But greatness is usually given, not sought"
"...I'm not getting rid of you, am I?"
"Not likely"
"Didn't think so" said Ranma as she swallowed that pill. "So if I'm stuck with you, what can you do for me?"
"Currently, I will serve as an advisor. I am also a being in your mind, so any memories you despised or wish to remember can be forgotten or remembered. I have done so already"
"You have?" asked Ranma.
"Your Ailurophobia was a weakness caused by memory. So I removed them"
As he said that, Ranma tried to remember the training were her father threw her into a pit of cats, but couldn't.
"That explains why Streaky wasn't freaky" said Ranma. "...You said you can affect my mind?"
"Indeed"
"Could you-"
"I cannot remove the day the lost them"
"..."
"That is a core memory" said Yrix "A part of you that can never be removed or else you aren't you. The bigger the impact that memory has on you, the stronger it stays"
"...I guess I'll have to live with it" said Ranma sadly.
"Apologies master" said Yrix "I do wish to serve, in anyway I can"
"Then I guess just advised me" said Ranma "But only in situations were I need it"
"Hmm. I see" said Yrix as he scratched his chin "A chance to serve, yet not complete reliance on my advice. Yes, this will work. I shall serve greatly"
"Yippee" said Ranma tiredly. Talking to this person was tiring.
"I think I shall let you be" said Yrix as he started fading "You're wanted"
"Nani?" asked Ranma as Yrix disappeared.
As soon as he was gone, the door opened. It was opened by a boy younger than Ranma. Unlike Nightwing and Batgirl, whose outfits resonated with Batman, this boy's outfit was more colorful in his red outfit and yellow cape.
"So you're the new girl Batman brought over?" asked the boy.
"And you are?" asked Ranma.
"Tim Drake" said the boy "But out of this building, it's Robin"
"So Batman, Nightwing, Batgirl, Red Hood, and Robin." said Ranma "Is there anyone else?"
"Besides the Batmobile, no" said Robin.
"Okay. Batcave, Batarang. Now Batmobile. Things are just getting obvious with Bruce"
Robin smirked "Well I'm glad you have a sense of humor"
"Okay Tim" said a voice behind him. As the door opened up more, Ranma saw Batgirl standing behind Robin, except her cowl was down, showing her beautiful face. "You've been up all night chasing Jason. Get some sleep while I watch Ranma"
"I'm not a little kid Barbara" said Robin sternly before walking away. As he left, Batgirl walked into the room, closing the door behind her.
"So you're Batgirl?" asked Ranma.
"I am" said Batgirl "And you are Kara's pet demon"
"I am not her pet!" said Ranma.
Batgirl only smirked and giggled "And you are just as cute as she said"
Ranma could only just stare in annoyance, too afraid to say something without a comeback.
"Are you feeling better?" asked Batgirl in a more serious tone.
"I am" said Ranma "Thank you"
"Batman says he wants to talk with you, but first" she went over and pulled off the bed covers. "While I take this to the laundry, you're taking a shower.
Ranma could only blush red as he ears lowered sadly. Barbara laughed silently as her cute face.
.
After taking a shower and changing into new clothes (same kind as the ones she got from the store), she made her way down to the Batcave and met up with Batman.
She told him everything of worth. Of her run in with Red Hood. Meeting the Homeless and the Soldiers. And most importantly, her meeting with Yrix.
"So what do you think?" asked Ranma as she sipped her tea, brewed by Alfred.
"...While I'm thankful for this new information, I can't say it doesn't unnerve me"
"I agree" said Ranma "He's in my mind. Talk about no privacy"
"And he doesn't want you to become a Warlord?" asked Batman.
"No" said Ranma. "I'm thankful for that at least"
"Never the less, we still have a leak of information"
"How so?" asked Ranma.
"If he is connected to your mind, then he knows all your secrets, including our identities"
Ranma tapped her finger in thought before turning her attention away from Batman. Batman turned and saw no one in that direction.
"He says he has no way to contact anyone outside my mind, nor would he betray an ally of me unless they mean me harm"
Batman lifted an eyebrow at Ranma.
"He's in the room, but only I can see him. Or he's in my mind and I'm imagining it. I don't know. This is tiring"
"But this has brought up enlightening news" said Batman "If he served under the Demon where your powers originate, then we have a source of information in the case of new powers emerging"
"That's true I guess" said Ranma.
"You don't sound excited" said Batman.
"He's not bad" said Ranma "But wouldn't you feel weird if someone so mysterious started serving with joy? I'm used to people either hating me, playing me, or just being snarky with me. It's weird is all"
"We'll figure this out as you go over therapy"
"Therapy?" asked Ranma.
"Did you expect anything less?" asked Batman.
"No" said Ranma like a child who knew they were wrong but didn't like it.
"On another matter, I am concerned about these soldiers you encountered"
"I told you, I only killed them because I was trying to save those people and everything just got so fast"
"I do want to talk about your casual killing, but the origins of those soldiers if a bigger concern. They were kidnapping homeless people. But for what?"
"Couldn't you check over the bodies I left?" asked Ranma.
"Not possible" said Batman "After they brought you here, Batgirl and Nightwing left to return to where you encountered them. But the bodies were all gone, including any weapons and even these monstrous men you described"
"That's disturbing" said Ranma.
"Well sorry to be breaking up this little chatter"
Ranma turned and saw a blonde man in a brown trench coat walking over to the two.
"Wha-who are you?" asked Ranma. This man was not there five seconds ago.
"Ranma, John Constantine" said Batman "Your therapist"
"Wha-?"
"I don't fancy this either luv" said Constantine. "But I am interested in making sure you don't arse up the bloody world. So we're stuck together for now"
Ranma could only tilt her head in confusion.
It was going to be a long stay at Wayne Manor
.
Unnamed Military Base.
At an abandoned military base, several soldiers were running in several directions as they made ways for evacuation plans.
"Sorry sir" said the Lead Soldier of recruitment squad, a bandaged stump taking place of his right arm "I didn't expect a creature such as that to appear"
"Doesn't matter now" said a man in a lab coat. "If this girl is in league with Batman and his lot, we must abandon house"
"What about the corpses of the Monster Men?" asked the soldier.
"Send them to Strange. He can have them back. And let him know to tell higher ups about this Meta-Human girl"
"Yes sir" said the soldier.
.
And so now we end for now.
It's good that I got this out. Now like Ranma, we can move forward.
John Constantine as Ranma's therapist. Could we call that help?
Seriously yes, because Constantine knows a lot about demons and hell. Do you see anyone else in Gotham with a PD in Demon therapy.
And now Ranma has a servant. Is this further recovery or just a ruse. Keep reading.
And don't worry. The story isn't getting off track from the original Unlimited story line. This is just build up.
