Notes: This is my first fanfic so there could be moments where you are bored, probably some grammer mistakes but I will do the best I can. Updates might or might not be weekly. I hope you enjoy it. I will also put a Side Story near the End. Hope you enjoy!
Ok, lets start.
Chapter 1 "By Me, 400 Years Ago"
?: "Subaru! Wake up!"
Huh? Subaru didn't understood why someone was calling for him. He wanted to ask but he was unable to open his mouth. The only response his body gave him was pain. He could feel he was lying on the ground.
He tried to remember what happaned but before he could do that some voices coming from far away (maybe near?) reached his ear. He couldn't hear much of it, the voices were faint.
?: "I..ve..ou...lo...e...you...I..ove..yo...lo...ove..ve...ve...you"
The voice was coming from a female Subaru tried to understand what she was saying but the pain that was around his body stopped him from focusing.
?: "...am Volc...ste...almigh...petitioner..."
Even through his eyes were closed a light so strong pierced its void. Subaru started to feel an uneasy feeling of being lost. He tried opening his eyes one more time... and it worked.
Subaru looked arouned his surroandings only to see there was no one near, in fact he wasn't even touching the ground! He was falling his heart skipped a beat.
Subaru: "Wha-?"
Before he finished his sentence he hit the ground.
Subaru: " Argh!"
The ground was called and irratating. He tried to get up but he fell again. He cling to a tree and got up without falling this time. He opened his eyes...
He was in a forest full of snow...
Snow is a sign of bad things that are going to happen, at least for Subaru. Subaru knew this well.
Subaru: "What had happaned?"
His memories were slowly coming back. He was in The Pleides watchtower. He had fought the obstacles he faced and won... But why was here then? He tried to recall what happaned. He was going to the top floor to meet some old man with Ram... But when he reached the top of the tower Satella...NO...The Witch of Envy showed up. He was knocked to the ground and hit his head a little too hard.
He presumed he (and maybe several others?) was teleported away from the battlefield. He didn't know where he was or what to do.
Subaru: "What is this place anyway?"
It didn't looked like anyone lived in this forest. His friends needed him but he had no idea where he was or what direction The Pleides Watchtower is. So he had nothing to do but to walk around hoping he would encounter someone.
He wondered around for what felt for ages, but he couldn't anyone. Before he noticed it was dark already. The tempature was belove the freezing level.
If he couldn't make fire quick he would freeze to death. But no matter how much he tried the snow put it out quickly. All hope was lost... He would die here and then go back to the tower. He would have to face the obstacles again. The Mabeasts, Reid, Ley, Shaula and finally Satella...
He didn't want to do it again... He gave a promise that he would use Return By Death as a last resort.
As he was thinking this he was running aroun aimlessly. He hit something and fell to the ground. He thought he had hit a tree but he didn't. The blizzard cowered much of his vision but he could see that it had a humans face.
Subaru: "I am sorry I didn't see you, Can you plea..."
Subaru stopped talking as he realized something was wrong with the person he bumped into. Its eyes werent moving his skin was mixture of blue and white. It stood lifelessly like a statue...
Subaru tried to touch to Statue but it was so cold his hands burned. Subaru jumped back, making the "statue" and himself fall over. Subaru realized this wasn't a Statue...
It was a corpse of someone who freezed to death. Subaru tried to scream but the cold glued his lips to oneother. Subaru couldn't help but think that he was going to become like him, frozen in time waiting for someone's rescue, forever...
Subaru didn't had to energy to get back up. His vision slowly got more and more blurry, the weather got colder and colder until his vision completely blacked out.
Subaru didn't know how much time has passed but he finally felt warm again. He somehow had the energy to open his waked up looking into a ceiling that he wasnt familiar with. He was placed in a comfartable bed. He could see a mediavel styled stove presumably where the heat came from. He noticed a desk with a glass of water, made for him. He waited 5 minutes more in this comfortable bed to process what happaned.
He finally got up from the bed, he had to thank whoever rescued him. As he tried to get up he was met with an unreasonable amount of pain from his legs.
He was so distracted by the pain he didn't realize he was being too noisy or that a cloaked figure entered the room.
?: " Oh so you woke up, please don't try to move a lot you were almost going to die when I found you." "Your legs were in a pretty bad condition but I tried to heal them as much as I could."
Subaru turned his eyes to see his savior. He or She was wearing a magic enchanted cloak just like Emilia's (without the cat ears of course). The person who saved him was very, very short. Thanks to the magic enchanted cloak Subaru couldn't even determine their gender or age.
Subaru: "O..ok thank yo... you for saving m...e, I owe you a lo...t
It was hard to speak given the condition his body was in right now.
?: "You don't owe me anything, anyone would do the same if they were me." "This forest doesn't have a lot of visitors so am I right to assume you are lost right?"
Subaru: "Yes... I am lo..st and I don'..t know where to go."
?: "Your clothes look damaged so you can take these."
Even through Subaru should have stayed on guard while dealing with a person he doesn't knowhe feels like he could trust this person whoever they are, he feels ... happy?
Subaru: "Thank...you."
Subaru used his left hand (which hurt less) to grab the clothes this kind person gave him. He needed to go back to the tower right away but his entire body was hurt and he was lost so he couldn't afford going out to cluelessly run around.
?: "You need to rest for now, I healed you as much as I could but your body still needs time." "You should drink this tea, it should help you to feel better."
The cloaked person left a cup of tea on the table near Subaru and left the room. Subaru inspected the tea before he drinked it. The tee looked no diffierent then the ones his mother made when he catched cold.
He was thirsty but he decided to do a taste test first. IT WAS TERRIFIC! AMAZING! DELICIOUS! Subaru thanked the kind person again for making such fine tea. He gulped it all down before he even realised it.
After drinking the tea, he started resting in the bed which is probably a guest bed, but it felt too comfartable almost like it was designed for him. Having a guest bed this good Subaru wondered if the person who saved him was a rich guy. But when he looked at the clothes the person gave him, the table, the walls and the fireplace it didn't looked fancy at all.
Subaru decided to take a close look to his legs. He couldn't move his toes, there were a few scars but it looks like they were healed beforehand. He pulls the quilt to his neck.
He sighed being lost in his thoughts and closed his eyes and fall asleep almost instantly.
Subaru is running, his breath is anormal. Something is chasing him and he fears it. A blue light is accomapanying him. Subaru doesn't understand what it is but knows it can be trusted. He doesn't have the courage to look back. He runs and runs and runs and runs and runs and runs and runs and runs and runs and runs and runs and runs and runs and runs and runs and runs and runs and runs and runs and runs and runs and runs and runs and runs and runs and runs and runs and runs and runs and runs and runs and runs and runs and runs and runs and runs and runs and runs. He finally trips over a rock and falls over. Subaru turnes his back waiting to be killed. But an attack never comes. Subaru realises he isn't being chased, He is running away from his friends. Leaving them alone to die. He was afraid and decided he couldn't save them so he decided he saved himself. Leaving them alone to die. Leaving them alone to... Leaving them alone... Leaving them... Leaving..."You are really Slothful"
Subaru wakes up in the guests bed. He realises tears are coming from his sanpaku eyes. Why had he left them? Why did he think he was powerless? Why was he so...Slothful...?
But those events didn't happaned. He never run away from his problems. So why was he running away in that dream? He would never do something like that.
He sees sunlight invading the room opens the curtains. When he realizes he can move his arms without pain he tries to get up and surprisingly his legs obey him. Unlike before he slept when he couldnt move a limb now he feels awfully refreshed. Subaru rubs his eyes while he thinks of his friends.
Subaru: "I guess I have to learn where I am and where I should go, before I leave. "
His hands reachers for the door when he realizes he is wearing the clothes that the person left him but he doesn't remember putting them on. He looks at the drawer near the guest bed and sees his clothes there but he also doesn't remember putting them there.
Subaru: "Guess I put them there and just forgot about it."
He slowly opens the door.
Subaru: "Huh?"
Outside the guest(?) room is a room that looks like a poor family's living room.. Subaru expected the house to be more... fancier? The person has a guest room with the comfiest bed Subaru has seen so Subaru assumed the living room would be like a typical families room at the least.
But this was the opposite of what he imagined. The living room had a dirtied couch, a stove slightly bigger but clearly older than the one on the guest room. There was a tiny area that was used to cook and some shelves that stored forks,spoons,and plates.
Subaru looked around without moving an inch and saw another door that led to outside and another that led to the restroom. If there was only a restroom, a living room that contained a kitchen area and a guest room, where did the owner of the house sleep last night?
Something in Subaru's head clicked as understood the mystery. There wasn't any guest room. The person that saved his life, gave him drinks had also given him their own bedroom so he could be comfartable. Subaru promised to himself that he would thank for this later.
And to the answer of the question of where the cloaked person slept, there was only one answer. Subaru slowly walked to the couch, very silently so he won't wake them up. His assumption was right. His lolimancer charms helped him even if he was in middle of nowhere.
On the couch, a cute loli was sleeping using her cloak as a quilt. The couch was small it would seem that noone would be comfortable while sleeping on it. Yet the loli looked so peaceful. She had a thin white cloth, It was clear it wouldn't keep her warm in this freezing forest.
Subaru opened the door to outside, there was no sign left of yesterday's blizzard. Subaru decides to thank the loli, learn where he is (and if he is lucky getting a map would be fine too) and rush to the tower with reinforcements. And slowly closes the door. Just after that he hears something fall to the ground.
Subaru turned his back to see the loli threw the cloak and get up. Subaru felt like being caught being somewhere that he shouldn't have been. Her face showed 3 emotions in 5 seconds. First being exhausted then being surprized and after rubbing her eyes and confirming what she is seeing is real, embarrassment.
?: "Eeeek! Why are you awake so early in the morning?"
She blushed so much one could mistaken her skin as red. It looks like she is very shy and doesn't want people too see her so she wear a cloak, Subaru thinks to himself.
Subaru: Umm... When I woke up I was really refreshed and it seems the wounds in my legs had healed completely.
?: "O...Ok, then I was worried, you look like you have to go somewhere so i will give you a map."
Subaru: "Thank you for everything, I really owe a lot."
Subaru thinks for a second then talks again.
"Do you really all by yourself in the middle of this dangerous forest?"
?: "Yes"
Subaru: "If you want to you can come with me, why would anyone want to stay in this deathtrap of a forest?"
?: "My family lives here for generations, I can't just leave here."
Subaru: "Ok then, I will be on my way."
Subaru stopped for a second and then asked.
Subaru: "Can you tell me your name?"
A moment of silence, through it didn't last long it was clear that she considered something as her dark blue eyes lost its childish charm and looked calculating, only for a split of second.
?: "My name is...Pandora"
Side Story
Babysitting Is Hard! (Beginning)
Subaru was running low on money so when he heard the local orphanage needed a babysitter to stop the children from "doing bad things" for 5250 yen a week he decided to give it a try.
He was met by the most beautiful girl he ever saw. She was near 18 years old, she had white hair, bluish purple eyes, Subaru questioned himself was he dead and seeing an angel right now?
?: Hi
Subaru: Hello
?: Umm...You were the boy that came for the job right?
Subaru: Yeah. May I ask you your name?
?: My name is Emilia, just Emilia. And you are... Natsuki Subaru right?
Subaru: Yes you are correct.
Emilia: Can I ask You for a favor?
Subaru: Of course, if such a beautiful girl like you asks me I would even jump from a bridge!
Emilia: Most people quit after an hour so my boss gets mad at me, I know this is a little selfish but can you stay a little longer? Wait what?
Subaru: What?
Emilia: Oh ok, I thought you said something embarrassing. Anyway, we need you right now! Fallow me please.
Subaru: Ok, what can go wrong?
Subaru: Did I just trigger a flag?
Emilia opens the door leading to the play room and Subaru quickly learns why everyone else who tried to take this job quit after an hour.
A yellow haired boy is on top of the chandelier holding a gray haired boy so he wouldn't fall, and a yellow haired girl is yelling at them. A gray cat is knocking vase's one after onether, while a pink and a blue haired girl is running around. Toys are scattared everywhere and not only that but there is the sound of babys crying that is so laud Subaru's ears are going to bleed.
Emilia: Can you look after them until nap time ok?
Subaru didn't even looked at Emilia, he was terrified of what he will have to sacrifice for 5250 yen.
Subaru: O...ok.
