Izuku ½
Chapter 1

"The Tendo Dojo…" Inko's eyes glided over to the nearby sign. "To defeat owners in savage combat, use rear door." Inko chuckled slightly at the sight, then looked down at her son and smiled. "This is the place, sweetie!" Her smile dipped into a frown as she saw her son's downcast expression. She knelt down and placed her hands on his shoulders. "It's going to be okay, Izuku. I've already talked to one of the instructors here." Her eyes dipped down to one of his current bandages, covering yet another burn. "It is not going to be like school. I promise."

Izuku sniffled a bit before slowly nodding. Inko sighed a bit in defeat. She stared back at the slightly open gate in front of her, her last hope in doing something to protect her baby. It was only a year since he was declared quirkless, and with that came the bullying. Izuku would now come home, not with a smile and joy that a five year old should always have, but with burn marks, bruises, and a face full of tears.

Izuku wouldn't even tell her anything about the bullying. She'd only caught on by seeing the injuries herself, despite her son's bad attempts at hiding them. He'd claim a burn mark was simply an accident or how a bruise was him just being clumsy, but Inko knew better. However, no matter how many times she called the school and ranted to them about it, demanding they do something to stop it, the teachers and staff were obviously having no effect on Izuku's constant injuries. 'If they were even doing anything at all…' She bitterly thought.

Unfortunately, moving Izuku to a new school just wasn't an option. Hisashi may be able to support the household from overseas, but there was no way he made enough to put Izuku in private school or to hire a tutor, and she herself lacked the credentials for home-schooling. The only way Izuku could go to another public school was if they moved outside of their district, and that wasn't financially an option either. And even then, if getting him into a new school were possible, would that even solve the problem? Would the kids there bully him just as much once the fact he was quirkless spread around?

No, her only foreseeable option now was to give her baby boy a fighting chance: to give him both the tools and the confidence he sorely lacked to defend himself. At least Izuku seemed somewhat interested in the idea of learning martial arts. "Come on sweetheart, let's go in." Izuku nodded and followed his mother through the outer gate, his small hand clutched to hers. As they walked up to the main house on the very old-fashioned estate, Izuku was a bit amazed at how large it all was. Compared to the Midoriya apartment, it was practically a palace! Soon enough they were at the front door, and Inko knocked.

"Coming!" A feminine voice yelled out. The door opened moments later revealing a woman with short navy blue hair and kind brown eyes. She was dressed in a white gi with a red belt tied around her waist. She looked over the mother and son duo for a brief second before smiling. "You must be the Midoriyas!"

Inko returned her smile. "Yes. I'm Inko and this is my son Izuku." She looked down towards her son. "Say hello Izuku!"

Izuku stared at the stranger in front of him, before looking down. "H-hello."

Inko's smile dimmed a bit, before she looked back to Akane as if asking for help. Akane slowly nodded at the mother, and then looked down at the sad child with a face of contemplation. She focused on the bandage first, remembering Mrs. Midoriya talking to daddy about Izuku's bullying over the phone. She then noticed the All Might brand shoes on his feet, before putting a smile back on. She knelt down in front of Izuku. "Hi. I'm Akane Saotome. I'm going to be one of your instructors here. It's nice to meet you!" She then pointed at his shoes. "So, is your favourite hero All Might?"

Izuku looked back up, his frown slowly melting away. "Y-yes, ma'am." He smiled slightly. "All Might's the coolest in the whole universe."

Akane nodded. She leaned in and faux whispered. "You know… I've met All Might befo-"

"You have!" The boy squealed. "Where? When? How?!"

"Well, it's a bit of a long story. I'm not sure you would want to hear the whole thing."

"I do! I do! Please tell me! Please, Mrs. Saotome!"

Akane chuckled a bit. "Okay, how about we go through a quick lesson in the dojo first, and then I can tell you all about when I met All Might. Does that sound okay to you?"

Izuku turned to his mom, his eyes filled with joy. Inko smiled back and nodded. Izuku immediately turned to Akane and vigorously shook his head up and down, his whole body vibrating in excitement. "Let's go! Let's go!"

"Alright then! To the dojo!" Akane pointed to the building to the side of the house.

"To the dojo!" Izuku parroted, and then ran towards it in haste.

Akane went to follow, when a hand was calmly placed on her shoulder. She looked back to see a teary-eyed Inko looking at her. "Thank you… Thank you so much."

"Ma'am…" Akane scratched the back of her head. "...we haven't even started yet."

"You've only known Izuku for two minutes and you've already made him smile. I haven't seen him smile like that… well, it's been a long time. That alone is thank you enough." She suddenly bowed before Akane, who immediately was flustered by the act. "Please take good care of my son."

Akane blinked before regaining her composure, and returned the bow. "Mrs. Midoriya, I promise I will. I'll teach him to the best of my ability and do my utmost to raise his spirits. You have my word as a martial artist." She stood out of her bow, and looked towards the dojo. "Besides a kid like that shouldn't ever be that sad."

Izuku gulped for air as he fell to the floor, the gi he was now wearing drenched in sweat. Who knew martial arts could be so exhausting? First, they went through a warm-up of push-ups, sit-ups, these funny things called crab walks, different stretches, and laps around the dojo. Then things settled down as Mrs. Saotome showed him how to throw a proper punch and how to do a front kick. He even got to hit a bag! Then, she walked him through on how to hold different stances, and told him to work on memorizing what each one was. There was a side stance, a ready stance, a fighting stance, a horse-riding stance, and more! It was a bit overwhelming, but Izuku promised her he'd memorize each and every one!

By the time they were done with all that, it had already been an entire hour! That's when they went through a "cool-down." Izuku knew what a warm-up was from PE, but a cool-down was something new. Mostly it was more stretches and breathing really slowly, but it did help calm down a bit. But now he felt so sore and was super sweaty. Mrs. Saotome though didn't look tired at all! She was amazing! She smiled everytime she looked at him and didn't look sad or mad once, even when he messed something up!

"Alright, that's a wrap for lesson one! How'd it go?"

Izuku merely gave her a thumbs up from the ground. "It was great, Mrs. Saotome! I feel so tired though…"

Inko chuckled from across the room. She then looked at Akane with curiosity. "Excuse me, I was wondering, if your last name is Saotome, why is the dojo called the Tendo Dojo? Shouldn't it be the Saotome Dojo? If you don't mind me asking."

"Oh, it's fine. I took my husband's name, but daddy wanted the training hall to keep the Tendo name. That's all. Besides daddy still teaches… a bit. So the name fits for him." She then turned to Izuku. "Feeling tired is a good thing! It means you pushed your limits, which is really the only way to improve when it comes to physical exercise. If your muscles aren't pushed, they won't grow."

Izuku nodded at that explanation.

"And well… if you're so tired, I could always tell you about All Might next time…"

Immediately Izuku was up, and looking at her with stars in his eyes. "It's okay! I'm fine! Please tell me about how you met All Might now!"

She smiled at his excitement. "Alright then. About five years ago, right after I graduated from high school-"

A series of loud booming cracks interrupted her and frightened both of the Midoriyas! Inko was looking around worried about the possibility of a villain attack, while Izuku merely covered his head, the noise sounding awfully like Kacchan's explosions. Akane however was immediately on guard and ready to protect her charges.

"Ranma! You've been slacking haven't you?!" Another loud crack sounded after the declaration, worrying Inko even more while Izuku tucked himself into a ball. Akane's guard melted away as she placed her palm onto her face in irritation.

"Slacking?! I'm not the one who's packed on weight, Pops!" Another booming crack sounded throughout the dojo, the walls slightly shaking from the force.

"Ah, how cursed am I to have such a rude and disrespectful son!?" Another crack.

"Oh just shut it, you old fart!" And then another.

The loud booming cracks continued as Akane deflated and sighed through the hand wrapped around her mouth. 'Oh great, and things were going so well… At least having a student for once was nice…' She looked over to the fearful Midoriyas. '...while it lasted.'

Inko had gotten her wits about her and was hovering over her son protectively. "Mrs. Saotome, should I call the police?" She winced as another loud noise boomed.

"No!" Akane suddenly shouted. At the alarmed look on Inko's face, Akane shook her head in resignation. "Sorry. No. I know exactly what's going on. I'll take care of it." She stomped over to one of the side sliding doors, slammed it open, and screamed. "Will you two cut it out! You're scaring the guests!"

The cacophony of booming cracks stopped immediately, and Izuku peered through the hands over his eyes to look out the door. A distance away, two men were just… floating in the air, staring at Akane in surprise, their fists and kicks paused mid strike.

After a few seconds, gravity finally decided to do its job, and the two fell to the ground, landing on their feet. While his mother began to gather him into a hug, Izuku's fear slowly flushed out of him as his mind tried to figure out what the two strangers' quirks were. One was an older burly, bald man with glasses. He was wearing an old, frayed, and stained gi. The other was a much younger pigtailed man, wearing a chinese styled red shirt and black pants. The two walked over until they were just a few feet away from Akane.

Akane put her hands on her hips. "Seriously, I told you Ranma that we had a prospective student coming today! While I don't expect much from your Dad-" "Hey!" "-you were supposed to be on your best behaviour, not scare them out of their minds!" She finished, pointing at the confused Midoriyas who were now standing a bit behind her.

The two men blinked, then in perfect synchronization pointed at each other and yelled. "He started it!" Their heads snapped to each other and their fists cocked back, both eager to get back to fighting.

Akane was having none of it. "Enough of that! If you both want to spar all-out, can't you two just take another training trip?! Remember the last time you two got crazy here, someone from out of town called a Pro-Hero! Do you remember how embarrassing that was for all of us?" Ranma and Genma immediately calmed down, and looked away from each other with a pout.

"I'm sorry… do you know them, Mrs. Saotome?" Inko asked behind Akane.

Akane's head drooped down before throwing a hand out towards the pair of knuckle-heads. "Meet my husband and father-in-law. They can get a bit... eccentric." She shared a look with the men and growled. "Introduce yourselves you two!"

The two paled a bit and then nodded.

"I'm Genma Saotome. I didn't realize Akane was teaching anyone today. My apologies."

The black-haired pigtailed man merely looked over at his Pops in offense. "I told you this… oh whatever." He looked towards Inko and Izuku. "I'm Ranma Saotome."

"And?" Akane jabbed.

Ranma looked away sheepishly. "Sorry about this."

Inko sighed. "It's alright. I was afraid it was something much worse, so I guess I'm relieved it was nothing serious." She then frowned in contemplation. "Do you often use your quirks when… sparring? I know this is private property so it's allowed, but…"

Ranma frowned. "Quirk? We didn't use any quirks. I can't. I don't have one."

"You're quirkless too?" Izuku asked in amazement.

Ranma smiled at the little kid. "Yup!"

"B-but… how did you stay in the air so long? How did you make those loud noises? Only people with quirks can do cool things like that!"

"Well, the loud noise was…" Ranma made a small punching motion with one fist. "... just a punch. It was a really fast punch, but just a punch."

"That's what those noises were? Wait, you broke the sound barrier with your punches?" Inko mumbled.

Ranma just grinned proudly. "Yeah… As for the long air-time, that's a bit more complicated…"

Genma straightened his glasses. "Mastering one's ability to control themselves in the air is one of the staples of the Saotome school of Anything Goes Martial Arts."

Izuku's eyes shined. "A-are you saying I can learn how to do that, Misters? That I don't need a quirk to do all that!?"

Ranma nodded with a cheerful smile, while Genma nodded more seriously.

Immediately Inko's mood soured and her face darkened. She hugged Izuku protectively, the friendly cheer she felt towards these people vanishing in an instant. "Don't lie to my child." All three Saotomes blinked at that. "Don't go putting ideas in his head that he can throw himself into this and be able to do things that are only possible with a quirk. Don't be cruel. He gets enough of that from school."

Ranma frowned. "I'm not lying…"

Inko's nostrils flared, before she stood up, holding Izuku in her arms. "I think we're done here." Inko started to walk towards the exit. "This was a waste of time." She muttered.

Izuku's face looked heartbroken, as he stared at the martial artists. "But, mom, I want to stay… I want to learn how to do that..."

"Please Mrs. Midoriya, don't go!" Akane yelled after her.

Ranma looked at Akane's hurt face, then stared at the kids watery eyes, and came to a decision. "Wait! I can prove it!" He shouted.

Inko slowed to a stop.

"I'm sorry… I do have a quirk, but it's super embarrassing." Ranma lied as he bowed. Akane and Genma shared a look, with Genma merely shrugging. "I can show it to you and prove that my skill as a martial artist has nothing to do with my quirk."

While Izuku frowned in his mother's arms, Inko turned back around to Ranma, her face stern. She then sighed. "Fine. Prove it."

Ranma took a deep breath. He knew the koi pond was on the other side of the house, so he simply made his way to the closest outdoor faucet, thankfully just a few feet away. He grabbed the attached hose that was used to water the plants this morning and dangled it above his head. He then turned on the water.

Inko watched a transformation unfold in an instant: Ranma's black hair became a vivid red. His face became softer and more delicate, while his body now sported a more curvy figure. His height even shrank down a few inches, while his chest expanded out. Inko was no longer staring at a man, but a woman.

"Ta-da! I turn into a girl when splashed with cold water! I turn back with hot water. It's a transformation-quirk only, not a strength-type or a speed-type." Ranma chuckled a bit dejectedly. "Sorry for lying about being quirkless, but… It's kind of embarrassing you know? It's not something I'm proud of."

Inko nodded a bit in shock, and was now lost in thought.

"Ranma, that's your curse not a…" Genma was cut off from Akane's elbow slamming into his chest.

"Shut it, he's doing a thing." She whispered, too low for the Midoriyas to hear.

Izuku however frowned, and then sniffled. "It's not a curse! It's your quirk. You shouldn't be embarrassed by it."

"Huh?"

Izuku looked down. "It's your quirk. It's something special that's a part of you. Even if it's not flashy, or powerful, it's yours and yours alone." He frowned. "I wouldn't mind having a quirk like that. Anything to make me special." He wiggled out his mom's arms, and walked over to the guy-turned-girl. He then gave them a hug, his arms wrapped tightly around Ranma's knees. Already Ranma could feel his legs getting soaked from the kid's tears. "Your quirk is amazing, and you should never feel bad about it, no matter what anyone tells you. Okay?"

Ranma's eyes twitched a bit, while Akane and Genma stifled a laugh. "Sure, kid. Sure."

Inko smiled at her son trying to cheer up this person he just met. She then shook her head. "Okay, but… if that's your quirk, then how did you punch like that? Are you telling me you all can just break the sound barrier with your punches just because you practice martial arts?" She rubbed her forehead feeling a migraine start to form. "This sounds like it belongs in a manga…"

Ranma smiled. "Yep." He then looked over to his family, his eyes full of mischief. "In fact.."

Akane wilted. "Ranma, don't you-" She was cut off as water splashed over herself and Genma, the hose now turned on them.

In Akane's place was now a taller muscular man, with black hair. Immediately they were attempting to loosen the belt around their waist. In Genma's place, there was now a panda.

The panda suddenly held up a wooden sign with writing: 'That was uncalled for.'

Akane meanwhile growled as she redid her belt. She spoke with now a much deeper voice. "A little warning next time would be nice…"

Ranma put a hand over his heart. "I just thought we all could be a little more honest about what our 'quirks' were."

Akane and Genma simply glared at Ranma.

Izuku finally detached himself from Ranma, and was now by his mother's side, who was busy wiping his face with a handkerchief. "Wow your quirks are all so amazing!" Izuku piped up. "I've never heard of a transformation-quirk that works via cold water before!"

While Akane simply let out a chuckle, Genma responded with a sign: 'Yes. So Amazing. Wow.'

Ranma turned towards Inko, who still looked unsure. "Listen, the stuff we can do took years to learn. Even Akane didn't learn the Kachū Tenshin Amagurikenuntil her last year in high-school."

"The what?" Inko asked.

"She couldn't punch faster than the speed of sound until then."

"Oh."

"Yeah, these things take time and dedication. It's years of effort and it isn't something a single lesson could teach. I know we started off on the wrong foot here, but Akane seems like she really enjoyed teaching the squirt. And from what I can tell, he's got the determination to stick with this. I'd love to be able to teach him too."

"Ranma…" Akane said with admiration.

Ranma merely placed a hand on his wife's now much taller shoulder and squeezed comfortingly. "Our quirks are all on the mundane side. We don't turn into a dragon, or an Asura, or a Bull-Yeti-Hybrid thingy." Inko's befuddlement was apparent. "We just transform into either the opposite sex, or in my Pop's case, a Panda. That's it. They don't innately help us with our martial arts at all. All of our strength, speed, and techniques were something we earned."

He then bowed towards Inko, and Akane quickly followed suit. "So, please, give us another chance. With your permission, our guidance, and your son's determination, we can help him earn it too."

Inko stared at the scene in front of her, and took a deep breath. "When I first picked this place for Izuku, it was mostly because you were the only quirkless dojo owners I could find."

The Saotomes froze at that.

"The Ojiro Dojo and the Kendo Dojo were closer, and while they seemed like nice and good people, their classes teach martial arts in combination with how their students' quirks work. I was afraid of Izuku being singled out there, just like he was in school due to him being quirkless."

Izuku's smile dimmed and he looked down to the floor.

Inko then looked at the Saotomes sternly. "I don't appreciate being lied to, but…" Her face lightened up slightly. "I'm willing to give you another chance."

Izuku and the Saotomes all smiled at that.

Then Inko placed her hands around Izuku's ears so he couldn't hear. "However, if I find out you're lying, and all these fancy punches and whatnot is the result of a quirk and not something my baby can learn through hard work..." She gave them a joyless smile. "My quirk lets me pull small objects to myself: like cookies or toys… or eyes or internal organs. Please keep that in mind."

'Scary…' The Saotomes all thought at the same time.

She then pulled her hands away from Izuku's ears. He stared at the Saotomes who were all a bit on the pale side. "Mom, what did you just say to them?"

"Nothing sweety, nothing." She then smiled at the Saotomes. "Didn't you have a story about All Might to tell?"

Izuku immediately forgot all about what just happened, and stared at Akane with rapt attention.

"R-right. Let's sit in the family room, and I can tell you all about it there, and we can go over his class schedule afterwards, Mrs. Midoriya."

"That sounds perfect!"

As they all walked over as a group, Akane started her tale. "Well it all began with this villain named Happosai…"

AN: I'm starting a new story, yay! Even though I have other stories to worry about that people really like and are following... Oh well, the muse does what the muse wants.

Anyways, I'm going to be staying away from honorifics here, unless it's part of a nickname (Kacchan, Ucchan, Ranchan, etc.) So just keep that in mind. I did dabble with honorifics in my first fic, but my opinion on that has changed since. I'm translating things into English, so only doing it half-way seems inconsistent. Whenever I do go back to Personality Adjustment and give it an edit, I'm probably taking any honorifics out, and all mentions of the phrase "sweatdrop." (Oh wow, an author is super critical of their first work, what are the odds?)

For this fics crossover, on the My Hero side of things, the world is pretty much the same, but obviously has Ranma stuff mixed in. There's not much that's different since the weird stuff is mostly contained to either Jusenkyo or Nerima. Nerima is essentially this world's Gravity Falls when it comes to unexplainable and magical things, and with Quirks existing, a lot of people assume strange things are just quirks and not actual magic or martial arts insanity.

For the Ranma side it's more of an AU since obviously their story here didn't take place in the 80s/90s, but in the age of Heroes and Quirks, and we're also starting years after canons end. So some things are a little different for them, but for the most part, it was the same as canon. Nerima is just a wacky place in general. Also, practically every character of note in Ranma ½ doesn't have a quirk and just uses martial arts. One because I love the idea of them being Quirkless, and two because I have no idea what quirks I'd even think up to give them. I've only got ideas so far for Nabiki and Kasumi having a quirk, and maybe Gosunkugi if he even becomes relevant in this fic. As for Akane being cursed, and things like that, it'll be explored later on in terms of how it happened.

Also, I'll be going by the Ranma anime hair colors literally just due to weird hair colors being somewhat the norm in My Hero. If Izuku gets his green/black hair, Akane will have her navy-blue hair, Girl-Ranma gets to keep her red hair, and neither will have their manga black hair. That doesn't mean I'll be using terms like "blue-nette" or "green-nette." Those terms are bad, and if you use them you should feel bad. Same with harems. That ain't happening in this fic.

Anyways, ciao. Hopefully I can get my other stories updated soon, but you know, Muse does what Muse wants. Including wanting to do nothing at all, the lazy little minx.
