Daphne Greengrass

Daphne Greengrass, a Slytherin girl with armpit-length blonde hair and ice-blue eyes, was having a bad day. She was already in her sixth year at Hogwarts and studying for her pre-NEWT exams was stressing her out, judging by her huffing and puffing and her renowned Ice Queen glare. To add more fuel to the fire, Draco Malfoy kept reminding her every day that she needed to be preparing to be the next Lady Malfoy. Daphne wanted so badly to give the Malfoy scion a mouth full of broken teeth, but the whiny little ferret threatened to have 'daddy' reprimand her for it even though Lucius was in Azkaban. Still, Daphne had her sister, Astoria (who was in Ravenclaw house), and her best friend, Tracey Davis. Daphne was stomping her way through a deserted corridor while resisting the urge to scream, when she heard some suspicious giggles.

'That's weird!' thought Daphne in bewilderment.

Her Ice Queen glare turning into a confused expression, Daphne began following the source of the giggles while walking at a more softer pace. Then some kind of talk was getting more and more audible, causing an icy chill to slither down the Slytherin girl's spine because the talk didn't sound like a friendly one. It was coming from an abandoned classroom with a door left wide open. Daphne tiptoed her way in being as smooth as possible until she could properly see what was going on. The Slytherin girl felt her jaw drop open in sheer horror to come across something she never thought would happen. She spotted Harry Potter sitting on the floor with his back leaning against a wall, with a girl with long, curly black hair facing him. The girl was wearing a blue short-sleeve t-shirt, had her gray skirt down at her ankles and her purple panties exposed. Harry appeared to under the influence of some kind of potions because he looked all dazed and unaware of what was really happening.

"Oh, Romilda Vane." Harry responded in a monotone voice. "How was I so blind to not realize how wonderful you are?"

"You just needed a little help, Harry," said the girl named Romilda Vane. "You won't regret spending time with me, especially after tonight."

Daphne widened her eyes in further horror when she realized what that Romilda girl was planning on doing to poor Harry. As quietly as she could, Daphne whipped her wand out and cast a charm at Romilda's feet to make her trip and fall forward onto her chest. The fall temporarily stunned Romilda, giving Daphne enough time to get in between Harry and the arrogant girl on the floor. Daphne spotted four empty potion vials right next to Romilda. The Slytherin girl picked them up, smelled one of them, and began feeling her legs trembling in pure rage when she found out that Romilda had given Harry Amortentia. There was also an empty bottle of butterbeer closeby, angering Daphne further. She realized that Harry had been given butterbeer laced with Amortentia keyed to Romilda.

"What're you doing here?!" Romilda growled at Daphne, after coming to.

"I could ask the same question about you!" snapped Daphne.

"You're ruining my moment with Harry here!" Romilda responded in a shrill-like voice, after getting back onto her feet and pulling her skirt (which was a micro-mini skirt) back up.

"Why, so you can take advantage of him and even violate him?!" growled Daphne, fixing Romilda with her famous Ice Queen glare. "I know what you were planning to do to him, you insensitive bitch! Don't deny it!"

"You're crazy to think that I was planning to violate Harry in any way!" Romilda retorted in a shrill-like voice. "Now go away, you're continuing to ruin the moment."

"I'm not letting you take advantage of Harry at all, you ugly bint!" Daphne shouted, rather loudly.

That attracted unwanted attention (for Romilda at least) because Professors McGonagall and Snape were patrolling the corridors. Upon hearing the commotion, the two heads of houses followed the source of the shouting. Since Daphne and Romilda were still having their shouting match, it was allowing McGonagall and Snape to follow the source easier and when they finally made it, they looked over at Daphne, then over to Romilda and finally Harry, in confusion.

"What is going on here?" asked Professor McGonagall, huffing and puffing.

"It seems like this girl named Romilda was planning to violate Harry in some way." Daphne reported to McGonagall and Snape.

The two heads of houses looked over at Harry leaning against the wall and indeed, they saw him all drugged up and he looked as though he was on the verge of passing out. Professor Snape widened his eyes in shock to see the green in Harry's eyes looking all glassy. For the first time, he saw some of Lily in Harry's eyes. Professor McGonagall just flashed Romilda a dirty look. Daphne pointed to the empty vials of Amortentia and the bottle of butterbeer closeby and the two professors picked them up.

"Miss Vane," Professor McGonagall chastised. "Why would you think of potioning Mr. Potter with Amortentia?!"

"So he could finally see that we're meant to be!" Romilda cried, feeling tears welling up in her dark-brown eyes. "He just needed some help!"

"What you would have gotten was a puppet, Miss Vane," Professor McGonagall. "And if you really knew Mr. Potter, you would've understood that he would not appreciate anybody sneaking him any love potions. You'd better follow me to Professor Dumbledore's office."

"Miss Greengrass," Professor Snape started instructing. "Escort Mr. Potter over to the hospital wing."

Daphne nodded her head obediently as she pulled a still-potioned Harry onto his feet and started taking him to the hospital wing. She also watched Professor McGonagall leading a now-frightened Romilda over to the headmaster's office. Taking Harry to the hospital wing was somewhat difficult because he almost toppled over in his dazed state four times. Luckily Daphne was able to catch him before he could fall to the ground and risk suffering a serious injury. They finally made it to the hospital wing, where Daphne explained what had happened to Harry, to the school nurse, Madam Pomfrey. So the nurse helped Daphne in getting Harry into one of the beds before casting a charm to change Harry's clothes into a pair of pajamas. Daphne sat down right next to Harry's bed while Madam Pomfrey gave him a flushing potion to cleanse his insides and get rid of the Amortentia. Then she placed Harry in a magically-induced coma to make the flushing potion work more efficiently.

"Well, now we just have to wait for the potion to do it's job." said Madam Pomfrey. Then she assured Daphne, "Mr. Potter will be just fine, Miss Greengrass. If he was found later, he might've experienced the symptoms of potion overdose."

Daphne had to get up and bolt for the bathroom. The thought of what Romilda planned to do to Harry made Daphne sick to her stomach. Once she was in the bathroom, Daphne locked the door, cast some privacy wards on it and threw up in the loo. When she felt certain the sick feeling went away, Daphne left the bathroom and returned to the hospital wing to keep watch over Harry. It was approximately five minutes later when Harry's best friends arrived, with Neville Longbottom, Lavender Brown, Daphne's sister Astoria, and best friend Tracey Davis in tow. Even the other members of Dumbledore's Army entered the hospital wing to check on Harry as soon as word about Romilda drugging him with love potions resulted in him having to stay in the hospital wing.

/Scene break\

It was early morning the next day (which was a Saturday) when Harry began waking up from his magically-induced coma. The flushing potions finished cleaning his insides of the Amortentia. As he opened his eyes and darted them around, Harry was confused as to what happened. Even with his glasses off, he was still able to tell that he was in the hospital wing. Upon lifting his head up, Harry spotted a head of blonde hair resting on his stomach. Since he couldn't see the person's face (due to the back of the head turned towards the raven-haired boy), Harry had no idea who was using his stomach as a pillow. He couldn't bring himself to wake the person up because he/she was lost in deep sleep. So Harry laid his head back down on the pillow and took a deep breath, relieved that he was away from Romilda.

'I remember she was offering me some butterbeer last night,' thought Harry as he revisited the memory. 'Then everything started getting hazy not long after I drank some. What did Vane put it in the butterbeer to…'

Harry was snapped out of his musings when he felt the person's head lifting off of his stomach. The person faced him, but due to not wearing his glasses, Harry couldn't tell who it was. Harry reached for his glasses, put them on and got a better look at the person. Harry widened his eyes in shock to discover that it was Daphne Greengrass. Instead of giving him her famous Ice-Queen glare, Daphne greeted Harry with a smile.

"Good morning, Harry!" said Daphne in a friendly voice.

"G-Good m-morning, Gr-Greengrass!" Harry greeted, though didn't understand why she called him by his first name and not his surname. Then he asked, "H-How did I g-get here?"

"I escorted you here yesterday afternoon," Daphne explained. "I came across an abandoned classroom that had an opened door with suspicious laughter. So I investigated and came across this girl named Romilda Vane trying to seduce you while you were doped up on Amortentia. You mentioned the name while under the influence. It turned out that you were given butterbeer laced up Amortentia. Professor McGonagall and Snape came by and I informed them what that crazy girl tried to do to you. Then I was tasked with making sure you got here, so Madam Pomfrey could treat you with a flushing potion to get of the Amortentia in your system."

"Oh okay," said Harry, finally getting a better understanding. "Now I feel foolish for just accepting butterbeer from someone who only see's me as either the Chosen One or the Boy-Who-Lived. Now I need to be more careful from now on."

"No need to worry now, Harry," assured Daphne in a soft voice. "Professors McGonagall and Dumbledore told me that Romilda was not only expelled, but the Department of Magical Law Enforcement showed up and arrested her. She's now in a holding cell awaiting trial."

"Thank goodness Vane is gone for good!" said Harry as he breathed a sigh of relief. Then he asked, "But why did you help me out and call me Harry rather than Potter? Aren't Gryffindors and Slytherins supposed to be enemies?"

"Only if they want to be like ferret boy and his kind," stated Daphne with a smirk. "I'm not like those idiots and neither is Tracey. She tried to get me to return to Slytherin territory last night, but I couldn't leave you because you looked so defenceless, so I thought I'd stay here and keep any other fangirls of yours at bay."

"Well, um, thank you for that!" said Harry gratefully. Feeling guilty about calling her by her surname, Harry continued on, "I'll start over on my greeting, if that's alright with you."

"Go right ahead, Harry." said Daphne, nodding her head in approval.

With a smile, Harry greeted, "Good morning to you too, Daphne!"

At that moment, Madam Pomfrey entered the hospital wing to check on Harry. The nurse gave Harry a clean bill of health and allowed him to leave. Harry walked into a bathroom to change into an everyday outfit (consisting of a red shirt,a pair of jeans and white sneakers). Almost forgetting about Daphne, Harry tried leaving the hospital wing to meet up with Ron and Hermione for breakfast.

"Harry, where are you going?" asked Daphne, resulting in the raven-haired boy turning around to face.

"Well, to the Great Hall for breakfast." said Harry.

"Wouldn't you like to eat breakfast somewhere more quiet, with me?" Daphne offered.

"Really?" Harry responded incredulously, wondering if he heard right.

"Yeah, really!" said Daphne.

"Sure, I'd love to have breakfast with you!" said Harry with a smile, accepting Daphne's offer. "We can eat in the school kitchens, if you'd like."

Daphne nodded her head in approval with a smile, then Harry started showing her the way to the entrance to the school kitchens. Harry could feel some kind of warmth near Daphne for some reason, but couldn't figure out what it was. Maybe the Ice Queen facade was just to keep unwanted people away while keeping her inward kind demeanour concealed. Ron and Hermione might wonder why Harry didn't make it to the Great Hall, but neither he nor Daphne cared. All they were focusing on at the moment was to eat breakfast in peace.

The End!

Author's note: While it was obvious that Romilda was expelled and arrested, I'm going to let you decide on Romilda's sentence at her hearing.
