Hey, really recommended for you to be caught up to the Web Novel and to read the Pride IF side story. Also this is my first Fanfic and my first time writing something serious for the Internet to see. Criticism is welcome and any opinions on this would be great. Also note that this will have mess ups and will not be perfect but I will try to make it as enjoyable as possible for the reader.

This is also inspired by the Shattered Kasaneru Fanfic, enough to make me want to write this, go read that Fanfic, it's really good, "10/10 would read again" IGN.

Dark. He was in a dark place. Where? He didn't know other than after every death he would end up here for a bit before being sent back to defy fate, but he didn't return. Maybe because he achieved his goal of having Emilia be the Ultimate Hero and have her kill the Worst Villain. At the first thought the worst villains would be the Sins, which isn't wrong but the worst among them would be the Sin Archbishop of Pride, him. He was to be the Worst Villain and have Emilia kill him to ensure she would be the Ruler.

Setting the Kingdom ablaze and killing countless as the Sin Archbishop of Pride would be known on the surface, things in the history book of sorts. Like in the stories he once read of the Witch of Envy and the Dragon. He actually did some good things despite what the books would say like killing the other Sins, though those would be Emilia's achievements, and it's not like those good things would counter act the bad actions he's done but he wasn't all bad. He would still felt guilty about what he did to those innocent people like the wives of Greed, but at the end of the day it was needed to make the half-elf resembling the Witch of Envy, to become the Ruler.

Looking back, he had done a lot to make that a possibility, He killed the Sins and had Emilia credited for it. He sacrificed everything just to make the Sword Saint lose his reputation as a Hero. He set the Kingdom on fire to test the Sword Saint and the supposed Dragon that would save them in their time of need. He killed countless of people just to make Emilia the Ruler and to confess his love for her. He thought about his speech multiple times beforehand and when he finally said it, it was perfect.

After dying by her magic he was now here, with her, and without him noticing she had placed her arms around him and stared into his eyes. Honestly he was conformable here, he was happy, safe, content, satisfied. He made Emilia the Ruler and became the worst villain in history. He couldn't ask for more.

Wondering what will happen to him now, he looked back to the Witch and into her eyes. He saw... sadness... and... pity? 'Hold on' he thought. Looking forward was her, Satella, the Witch of Envy, the cause of the Great Calamity 400 years where she cover half the world in her shadows, and not even the Sage, the first Sword Saint, and the Dragon could kill her combined, they had to seal her away. How can he claim to be the worst villain when the one who holds said title was right in front of him, looking at him with those sad pitiful eyes.

Why? Why would she pity him, be disappointed in him. Was he not enough. Was it because he wasn't better than her.

Subaru: Why? Why are you looking at me like that. Was it not enough. Is it because you were worst, because you destroyed half the world with your shadows, and I couldn't do better.

Envy: I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you.

Subaru: Well what is it. Will you say anything else.

Envy: I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you.

Subaru: Quit saying that, even an 'I'm disappointed in your efforts' would be better to hear than 'I love you'. I don't even like you in any way, how can I when you gave me the power to taste death over and over. I would rather be tempted to despise you. You know what, I've my mind, send me back. I'll prove to you I can do better.

Ignored by the Witch of Envy and without an answer form her, he finally made up his mind. He needed to be worst, he needed to do more, But how, how could he best Satella, how could he be worst. If she covered half the world in shadows, then he would need to burn not only the Kingdom but the world as well. Right and while he was at it, he would have the Kingdom of Lugnica be the only country and make Emilia the Ruler of the world.

Now that he got thinking, he never did see Emilia as the Ruler or the process of her becoming the Ruler. It's highly unlikely but it's not impossible to say that she wasn't the queen. It's like Schrödinger's Cat. Both alive and dead until check on. It's the same to him with Emilia, he didn't know if she was the Ruler unless he saw it happen. Another reason he needed to go back.

Subaru: but... even if i go back.. I would be holding Meili's dead body and be in front of Reinhardt. Can't really complete my other goals with the Sword Saint is ready to kill me. I don't like the idea but I can't deny that I need a full reset to complete my new found goals.

Envy: I love you, I love you, I love you

No matter what she tried to say, she would only repeat the same line. She wanted him to not be like her, not a bad person who has done unthinkable things, but a hero himself, so she would send him to another dimension where he saved Emilia directly to give him a hint, but that might not be enough, he needed to learn to be a better person and not abuse his power, so she would give him a little something else to help him turn his ways.

Subaru was still deep in thought about how to go about his new goal. He would have to kill the Sins again, which he had done before and would be a lot easier now that he knew their Authorities, their powers. The problem would be setting the world on fire as Vollachia had it borders closed and he was unfamiliar with the other countries.

Then he started to feel something creep into his body, like an insect crawling towards his heart. He panicked, was confused, and startled, but it quickly went away. What was that, did he get a new power, he was excited by the idea and looked at her only to see no more pity, but just more sadness directed at him.

Did she feel so bad for him that she gave a new power to help him. In that case he didn't want it, he could prove that he didn't need anything other than Return by Death to achieve his goals. Then he started to feel a familiar sensation.

Feeling his consciousness being pulled away, he knew it was time to go back into the world and out of the void.

Subaru: The question is if I spawn in front of Meili or if Satella listened and puts me in front of the appa seller.

Now being able to feel his body, many unexpected feelings rush to his nerves, instead of the harsh warmth of the blazing inferno or the scoring sun in the Capital, he felt soft warm sunlight on his face, along with what felt like him laying on a soft bed. He smelled not the smoke of the fire but that of a cleaned room. He opened his eyes to see a familiar looking ceiling, he couldn't put together where he was but he definitely has been here before.

Subaru: but was the hell is this, this has never been a checkpoint for me, so why did Satella bring me here

?: Satella?

?: WITCH CULTIST

Subaru sat up and turned his head to the sudden yelling only to get a Morning Star thrown to his arm breaking it off. Turning to the wound, blood was gushed from it. Pain ran through Subaru's nerves, He was in pain, he was going to die, he couldn't even think about what was going on, the pain was the only thing he was thinking about, he thought he saw a flash of what was wind magic. Then his head now in the air, disconnected from the nerves screaming PAIN, he finally saw the two maids who attacked him. The same maids who were by Roswaal's side during their dealings, he didn't know their names but he knew immediately who they were and where he was when he saw them. Roswaal's Mansion. With that last thought he finally pass on from this world.

Seeing the dead cultist, Rem finally calmed down. She remembered Cultist being a lot stronger, was he just not meant for combat, did they get him by surprise, or was he just that weak.

*Thump*

Surprised by the sound Rem turned to the source only to see her sister on the floor, blood spilling from her mouth. Panicking she quickly started to apply healing magic on her sister to no avail. She was dead.
