1: living in a fairy tale.
Lucky Lucy Heartfilia quickly ran up the fire escape's stairs as she raced to reach the crime scene.
At the roof of the apartment complex was a story for her to cover. When she made it, however, she was disappointed to see that the police where already there. How am I supposed to get this news story with them here? She wondered.
Jason, her superior, appeared right behind her with his camera in his hands. "So cool! There's a dead body! Hahahaha!"
"Sir, we're going to need you to step away from the crime scene," one of the officers said.
"Sorry, but we're journalists. Isn't there freedom of the press?" Lucy asked the officer.
"Leave, now, before I get angry," the officer demanded.
Lucy, who was used to arguing with the police, wasn't intimidated. "It's you job to protect the people of this city, right? Okay, so how come there's a dead body right there? Looks like you're not doing your job."
"Hey!" The officer cried. He rose his hand to slap her but he didn't land the blow.
"So, excuse me, but I gotta do my job, unlike some people around here," Lucy said as she walked past the officers.
"Damnnnn! Lucy's so cool when she's pissed!" Jason cried, following behind her.
Lucy looked over the yellow police tap and studied the dead body laying on the ground. Jason took pictures.
"Jason, we should meet with the people she was close to," Lucy said as she jot down some notes in her notebook. When she looked up, she noticed there was an aura around her. Magic!
"Sir! She's a victim of the Oracion Seis!" One of the officers cried, pointing somewhere.
Lucy and the other officers look in the direction that one officer was pointing at and saw what that officer meant. Written in blood was, "Oracion Seis has heard your prayer."
No doubt about it! Lucy thought.
The Oracion Seis is a popular group of murderers who respond to people's "prayers" and kill the people based on the "prayers" they've heard. But what many don't know about the group is that they use magic. Only another wizard can tell if magic has been used and wherever the Oracion Seis has made there mark, there is always a trace of magic.
Lucy turned back to the dead body as the officers ran over to the bloody message. Let's see if I can see what spell was used on her...?
However, being a novice in the art of magic, Lucy wasn't able to tell what type of magic was used. Sighing, Lucy walked away from the scene. Jason followed.
"Why're we leaving?" Jason asked.
"There's nothing left for us to do here," Lucy answered.
"Alright then. Good job today! Stay cool!" Jason cried as they made their way down the fire escape.
"Same to you!" Lucy cried.
At the bottom, they got into their respective cars and drove away.
Lucy lived at a girl's dormitory called Fairy Hills. To the naked eye, it was simply a girl's dormitory, but it was more than that. Run by Mirajane Strauss, a shapeshifter, girls who happened to be wizards were allowed to live here. Some of the girls had how levels of magical knowledge while others had low levels. The goal was to get the girls to work together and bring each other up on the path of magic. However, it was still a girl's dormitory so things were bound to get out of hand.
The minute Lucy entered her room in the dormitory, she frowned. Her room was taken over by some of the residents.
"Damn! Took your sweet time!" Cana Alberona cried as she opened a can of beer. "Come join us!"
Juvia Lockster was crying her tears out as she sipped her can of beer. "I'm so glad you're back, Lucy!"
Erza Scarlet threw an empty can of beer at the door. "Come here right now or I'll kill you!"
"Guys, guys!" Levy McGarden said seriously. She dramatically paused for a minute, then she started laughing.
"Oh my, everyone is so drunk!" Mirajane cried.
"Yikes..." Lisanna responded, looking at everyone.
"You guys always do this! Why do y'all like to meet up at my room! All of you, out!" Lucy cried.
Levy pouted. "Aw, but Lulu..."
Erza summoned a sword and threw it at the door. Lucy quickly dodged it. "Erza! Are you trying to kill me!?"
"Drink!" Erza yelled, glaring at Lucy.
"Yes, ma'am," Lucy quickly said, sitting with Erza.
Juvia tearfully passed Lucy a can of beer. "Thank you," Lucy said as she reluctantly took it.
"Okay okay. Lemme tell y'all about my boyfriend Bacchus!" Cana cried, slurring.
"At least you have a boyfriend! Gray won't even look at me!" Juvia cried before balling her eyes out. Lisanna patted her back in reassurance.
Levy was still laughing her ass off. Erza, getting annoyed, slapped Levy. That didn't stop Levy from laughing. "Ow! Erza slapped me!" She cried, tears falling as she laughed.
Lucy sighed as she tapped on her beer can. "Don't y'all got work in the morning?"
"I lost my job again!" Juvia cried, balling her eyes out.
Lucy blinked. "What!? But you were so good at it!"
"They found out that I'm part of the Phantom Lord gang!" Juvia cried through her tears.
"Juvia! You're melting!" Lisanna cried.
"Huh?" Juvia looked below her and saw that her bottom part has become a puddle of water. "What did I have to get cursed at birth with this body!?"
"Stop melting!" Erza yelled at Juvia.
"I'm trying!" Juvia yelled back. Unfortunately, that only sped up her melting.
Erza was still glaring at Juvia. Suddenly, one of her eyes fell out. Erza covered her now-empty eye socket. "Where's my eye!? Find it before I kill all of you!"
"Oh dear...!" Mirajane commented.
"Imagine having an artificial eye! Couldn't be me! Hahahahaha!" Levy cried, laughing.
"Now that was just mean, Levy," Lucy told her.
Cana slammed her hand on the coffee table they were all sitting around. "Stap!"
Everyone grew quiet.
Cana chugged her 17th beer can before throwing it to the side. "So siondcaub kkdnaopwieiqodms ciwhsdnoe sdo wjsidnc-" she passed out.
"...anyways," Lucy responded.
The craziness returned to Lucy's room. One problem rose after another one was solved. All Lucy wanted, however, was to get some sleep. She had a feeling that the next day was going to be eventful.
When Lucy arrived at the news station she worked at the next day, she was glad that she didn't drink last night with the girls. She was positive a hangover wouldn't help her get through the day. Her co-workers were running around the place left and right and those who were at their desks looked like they were busy at work judging by how fast they were vigorously typing on their computers.
"Lucy! You're here!" Jason yelled from his desk.
"Yeah...um...why's everyone jumpier than usual?" Lucy asked him.
"When have things not been jumpy when the Oracion Seis has attacked?" Jason asked.
"True true," Lucy said as she sat at her desk. The minute she sat down, however, she received a phone call. "Hello?"
"Yeah, hi. I'm the ex boyfriend of Tilly," the speaker said.
Lucy blinked. Who the fuck is Tilly? Then she remembered Tilly was the name of the girl who was murdered. "Oh! Perfect! You want an interview, right?"
"Yeah...it'll be fine, right?" The speaker asked.
"Yeah! Tell me when and where you wanna meet," Lucy said as she held her phone against her ear with her shoulder. She took out her notebook and started to jot down the address of the location the speaker was telling her.
"Uh huh. Uh Huh. Uh-now!? You want me to come now!? Okay, I'm on my way!" Lucy cried before hanging up. She shoved her notebook and her phone into her purse. "Bye, Jason! I have an interview to do!"
High heels and a pencil skirt wasn't ideal for running but it was a necessary sacrifice. She zoomed out of the news station and down to the subway. She impatiently tapped her foot as she waited for the train to arrive. A few second later, she decided to just fuck it and she ran out of the subway. She quickly flagged down a taxi and got in.
Minutes later, she was at the fancy restaurant she was told to meet at. She adjusted her hair that she had in a ponytail before walking into the restaurant.
She stood where the receptionist was and looked around the place to see if she could find whoever she was meeting. Then it hit her: she had no idea who it is.
"Are you Lucy Heartfilia?" The receptionist asked. Lucy nodded. The receptionist pointed at a table where a rich looking guy with his golden hair curled and with an expensive looking white suit was sitting. "Mr. Stacks is waiting for you."
Lucy bowed. "Thank you." She walked over to the table where Mr. Stacks was sitting at. "Sorry if I'm late."
Mr. Stacks chuckled. "It's fine!"
Lucy dug into her bag and pulled out her phone. She went to the record app and pressed record before laying her phone flat on the table. "Tell me about this Tilly. Was she with the wrong crowd? Was she acting weird? Stuff like that."
"Tilly...she would never harm a hair on anyone. She was so kind...I don't know why anyone would want to kill her," Mr. Stacks answered.
"It must be hard for you to accept the news," Lucy said.
Mr. Stacks nodded. "I don't know how things came to be."
A rich looking girl with a bitchy look on her face approached the two of them. "Daddy!" She hugged Mr. Stacks.
"This must be your daughter," Lucy said.
The girl faced Lucy. "The name's Rosalinda, and I'm not his daughter. I'm his girlfriend."
Lucy blinked. Mr. Stacks had gray hair and looks to be at least in his 60s. Rosalinda looked like she was in high school.
"Rosalinda...how old are you?" Lucy asked.
"16. Why?" Rosalinda asked.
"How long have y'all been dating?" Lucy asked.
"We started dating a month before I turned 16 so it's been 4 happy months," Rosalinda said before shoving her tongue down Mr. Stack's throat.
This is pedophilia! I can write a news story about this! Lucy thought as she cringed.
A few seconds later, Rosalinda was sitting in Mr. Stack's lap. "Honestly, it's such a shame that Tilly bitch died or whatever. I mean, she had to get out of the way. She kept on coming to my bae, telling him that he and I should break up!"
Lucy rose a brow. "Are you saying that you're the one who got the Oracion Seis to kill Tilly?"
"Honey, you did!?" Mr. Stacks cried.
Rosalinda stood up. "What!? How could you say that!?" She grabbed a glass of water right off the serving tray of a waiter that was walking past them and splashed the water all over Lucy's white blouse. "You fucking bitch!"
So I'm the bitch suddenly? Lucy thought as she stopped the recording and put her phone into her purse. She stood up and held her hand out. "My bra's completely visible for the whole world to see. Could you be so kind as to buy me a new shirt or at least lend me some money? I mean, it's the least you could do."
Rosalinda scoffed. "Wow, so after insulting me, you're asking me for money! Look." She stuck up her pointer finger and wagged it in a "no" motion. "Not. Gonna. Happen."
"I think you might wanna anyway. Your so-called bae who's old enough to be your grandpa won't stop staring at my tits," Lucy said.
Rosalinda looked at Mr. Stacks. "Stop!"
"I'll take off my top if you don't buy me a new one," Lucy said.
"You fucking bitch! Fine!" Rosalinda cried.
An hour later, Lucy, sporting a highly expensive outfit, made it back to the news station.
"What took you so long?" Jason asked as Lucy sat at her desk.
"I tortured a girl by being indecisive on stuff and making her spend big money," Lucy answered.
"Cool!" Jason cried.
"Also, said girl may or may not be the one who sent the Oracion Seis to kill Tilly," Lucy said.
Jason dramatically gasped. "Cool!"
Others who were around them heard the news.
"The killer was found already!?"
"Damn, and it usually takes months!"
"Who is it? Who is it!?"
"We need to publish this news fast!"
By the end of the day, Lucy, feeling exhausted, got out of the taxi that took her to an outdoor market.
"It's dark outside," she commented.
The marketplace was filled with street vendors selling treasures, food, clothing, and more. It was often crowded, even during the night. But Lucy wasn't here to buy some items at the market. She was here for a different reason.
After taking a few turns, she ended up in a narrow alleyway where a couple of abandoned shops stood. She opened the double doors of one of the abandoned shops and entered. Instead of the place being all broken down, the place she entered was a whole bar.
This was Fairy Tail, a place where wizards gathered to exchange information, just like a guild. The guild was ran by a gentle giant named Makarov Dreyar but managed by Mirajane. Only wizards can find Fairy Tail, making this place the perfect spot for wizards to use their magic freely.
Lucy walked over to the bar where Mirajane was working at.
"Hi, Lucy! What can I do for you?" Mirajane, cheerful as ever, asked.
"Has Master Makarov gotten that new shipment of books on Celestial magic yet?" Lucy asked.
"Yep! Down in the basement!" Mirajane answered.
Lucy thanked the shapeshifter before walking down the basement stairs. At the bottom of the stairs, there was a large library of books on magic. "I should have asked where the books were. Master Makarov never arranges any of these in alphabetical order..." Lucy grumbled.
She got to work. She went through the bookshelves, searching for the books on Celestial magic. As she searched, however, one book caught her eye. When she pulled it out, she saw that it was a large and old looking book covered in talismans.
Is this forbidden magic or something? Lucy wondered.
Naturally, if something had talismans on it, you would stay far away from it. Lucy, however, was curious. Master would never put anything forbidden in here. It should be fine if I take this, she thought, shoving the book into her bag.
Eagerly, she left the basement. She was excited to read the wonders hidden within the lines of this suspicious book.
"Glad we could help! See you at Fairy Hills!" Mirajane called after her.
As soon as Lucy arrived at her room, she changed into a white hoodie and black shorts and sat at her coffee table. She put the suspicious looking book flat down on the table.
"Celestial magic is the magic of opening basically anything, which means I should be able to break the seals and open this book..." Lucy said to herself. So how do I break these seals?
She traced her fingers over the talismans as she thought of ways to use her magic to break off the seals. "Levy's the master of this kind of stuff...what did she say about breaking seals again...? Wait...create a medium and reverse the words..."
She quickly dug through her drawers and took out an expo marker. Then, she searched through her bookshelf for a specific book. Once she grabbed the book, she sat criss cross on the floor and flipped through the pages of the book she grabbed. The page she landed on had directions on how to draw a magic circle in order to restrain spirits. Only a Celestial wizards can do it.
Magic, don't let me down! Lucy thought before copying the magic circle onto the coffee table. Once the magic circle was done, she put the suspicious book in the middle and started to carefully trace the writing on the talismans. She whispered the words in reverse as she did. The moment she finished, the talismans simply fell off the book.
Lucy pushed the talismans away and read the front cover of the book. "E.N.D. End of what?"
That only caused her to grow even more curious than before.
She carefully open the book. Then, a bright light started to shine out of the book. Everywhere around her became windy. Her books, clothes, furniture, and other items started flying around the room. The glass of her window shattered into tiny pieces. Lucy tried to close the book but it wouldn't budge.
I shouldn't have taken this with me! She frantically thought.
She felt the book burning up, which only caused her to panic more than she was at the moment. A large wave was released, causing her to be pushed back a few feet. A red lizard-like dragon shot out from the book and bumped into the wall a few times before settling in front of Lucy. In a poof, the dragon wasn't there anymore. Instead, it was a man with tan skin and pink hair.
Who happened to be naked.
Random Fact: After watching one episode of Tale of the Nine-Tailed, I got so many ideas and started working on this
Wassup!? It's ya gurl sugarsugarrush!
I've been wanting to write a story like this for 3 or 4 years now! This has gone through so many changes. One name was The Legend of Fairy Heart and another name was 1,001 Monsters and a Celestial Slayer and the plots were kinda similar but also completely different! Now, I'm finally putting this out there! Yay!
By the way, this story is heavily inspired by Kdramas so if you're getting Kdrama vibes, you will know why.
I don't got much to say except that I typed up this whole chapter in a day so lemme close this! How much trouble is Lucy going to get? All will be revealed soon! I hope you guys liked this! Don't forget to PM me or leave a review! Later, yo!
