Sooooo I saw a few people write stories like this and decided to take a crack at it myself. Enjoy.
Summary: Naruto Namikaze never wanted this war, he never wanted any of the hell that rained down on the Elemental Nations. But with his father's jutsu, he will do whatever it takes to defend his home. Even if he has to carve a bloody path all the way to Vale to do so.
Notes: This chapter might be a little short.
Naruto Notes: Hiraishin!Naruto, Mature!Naruto, The Akatsuki are all dead, Alive!Jiraiya, Good!Sasuke, Alive!Itachi, and I tweaked the map a little bit.
RWBY Notes: This happens while RWBY is at Beacon. (Year 1.)
Arcs: Starts right before the start of the war at the 5-Kage Summit, Goes over various battles in chronological order, Final battle, Negotiations, Certain RWBY arcs, War once more, This is the way the world ends, The End of the World, and Peace Everlasting.
Five Kage Summit
Kakashi Hatake, Onoki, Ay, Mei Terumi, Gaara of the Sand, and Mifune all sat around one round table ready to discuss the recent events that happened in Sea Country.
"You all got the letter so I won't bother explaining. But I will ask all the same. I need someone to help me. These people want nothing more than to enslave us and our people. This is a threat we cannot face alone. They are technologically superior and Mist has already had a little fight with them if I'm not mistaken." Said Gaara as Mei nodded.
"Yes, we have. I sent six jounin and three chunin while eight of them survived, they had some kind of shield that protected every square inch of them. Upon inspection, it turned out to be something that almost everyone has." Gaara paused to let that sink in.
"Please elaborate Lord Kazekage." Said the Raikage.
"They have something called huntsman and huntresses which are basically their version of shinobi and kunoichi. And supposedly, all huntsmen can use whatever this ability is called regardless of their family line."
"I see. Judging by the fact that they died, their shield doesn't last forever and can be destroyed? Correct?" Asked the Tsuchikage.
"Yes Lord Tsuchikage. Sadly, it's too late to have a Yamanaka pick their brains but I'm sure we can figure something out." Finished Gaara.
"That makes things a little bit easier. Their "shield" must be better against blunt force trauma which is most likely why your ninjas did so well." Said Kakashi.
"Anyway, this puts the Leaf, Sand, and Cloud at a potentially major advantage so if you all agree to help, we need to plan this carefully." Finished Kakashi as the other Kages nodded.
"Did you send a letter demanding to know why?" Asked Gaara.
"Yes, I did. I'll let you all read it." Said Kakashi as he gave it to the Raikage.
'I'm very surprised you savages have a written language much less one advanced as ours. But we won't change our minds. We will hunt you down until you're all dead and use your people as slaves.'
There was more to the letter but the Raikage stopped reading out loud. "Well if that isn't a "Fuck you and see you on the battlefield", I don't know what is. I'm in."
"So am I.," Said all the other kages bar Onoki.
"I wish I could help but my troops would be at a major disadvantage and I would have to move thousands of them a very long distance. I'm sorry but I can't help you on the battlefield but I will do what I can back here. "
The other kages nodded.
"Then give us weapons. The Land of Earth is famous for being rich in strong minerals. The Mizukage will take care of the water while I will provide all the food I can. All villages have something to offer. Mist and Sand have created some of the best poisons known to shinobi and I think it's time to put them to good use." Said Kakashi.
They put the finishing touches on their agreement and decided to talk strategy the next day.
The Next Day
The Kages met in the same room but it was formatted differently. They were at a standing desk with a passive map six feet in length and two feet in width in front of them. Kakashi decided to deliver some very important information.
"I have a confession to make. My guard, the blonde one, is the son of Minato Namikaze and Kushina Uzumaki. He knows Hiraishin and the Rasengan. I think he should be one of our main weapons." Said Kakashi.
"I see. I hold no grudge against his son if that's what you're wondering and I doubt Lord Raikage does either. Still, though, I think it would be a good idea for that secret to never leave this room. My guards won't bat an eye as you can see but my village might call for blood and I'll be in a tough spot." Replied Onoki as the others nodded.
"Yes, but we have other things to worry about right now and we need to do this quickly. First of all, we have the home-field advantage and we need to use that as much as possible." Said Gaara.
"Yes, we do. But you're the one who lives there so I'll let you decide how we proceed." Said Onoki.
"Right. Lady Mizukage and Lord Tsuchikage will play a supplementary role in this however, I need a few earth users to help mount a defense. Would you be able to spare a squad or two?" Asked Gaara.
"Yes, I can. You can have one BOULDER squad. They're the best we have to offer." Said Onoki with no small amount of pride. Gaara thanked him.
"What will I be doing?" Asked Mei.
"Probably not much unless we capture anyone. Mist is known for its assassination and interrogation techniques. By the way, one of your swords is in Wave Country but I don't know where. That being said, however, if you have any kenjutsu specialists, I would like to have them." Answered Gaara.
"I see. I'll see what I can do." Replied Mei.
"What about the Leaf and Cloud?" Asked Kakashi.
"Frontline combat along with my troops." They nodded. "By the way, I don't suggest going back to the village until all of this is over." The other kages agreed with that. They could always appoint a temporary replacement at any time.
With most of the planning taken care of, they moved on to things like supplies and headband symbols. They decided to go with the Shinobi symbol.
"If that's all, I think we should meet again in Hidden Sand as soon as possible." Said Gaara. Everyone nodded, bowed to each other, and left.
With Kakashi and her guards
It was 10:00 PM but Kakashi decided it was too important to delay any longer than necessary.
"That went better than expected." Said Sasuke.
"Yeah, it did." Said Naruto.
"I have a request of you two."
"What is it?" Asked Naruto.
"I want you two to join the ANBU."
They were both stunned but Naruto answered first. "I accept but my jutsus are too famous. Unless we leave zero survivors every time, people will figure it out pretty quickly."
"I know that however, our invaders do not. The worst thing for them right now is a killer with no name and no face. Or in this case, Naruto and Sasuke with a Fox and a Crow mask." Said Kakashi.
"I see. I accept." Said Naruto. Sasuke soon followed.
"Thank you. We'll talk more when we get back."
10:00 AM Hidden Leaf
Kakashi had just given a very inspirational speech that raised morale and that is always a good thing. The next thing Kakashi did was appoint Tsunade a temporary replacement. After that, he went to ANBU HQ with Naruto and Sasuke.
ANBU HQ
ANBU HQ is a dark place with traps in every corner. Yet as tense as the atmosphere might be, the ANBU always knew it was false. There were still some really nasty traps in the corners that murdered more than a few new recruits but they sometimes caught someone or something important.
"You know what your duties are?" Said Kakashi. They nodded. "Good. We will go to Hidden Sand right away. It's a 72-hour trip but we'll make it in 36. We leave in one hour."
"Sir!" The two new ANBU said together.
Time skip: 36 hours, Hidden Sand, Council Chamber, 10:30 PM
"Why are you late?" Asked the Raikage.
Kakashi unsealed something from a storage scroll. "Because I ran into a squad of three huntsmen. One of them died but the other two are alive."
"I see. What happened?"
Flashback
The three of them were in Wind Country when they felt three presences about 100 feet away from them.
"Any idea who they are?" Asked Fox. (Naruto will be known as Fox until I saw otherwise.)
"No. But they're not rogue shinobi and if they are, they're genin." Said Kakashi.
"The chances of running into a rogue genin out here is slim to none. Let's go investigate." Said Crow. (Same thing with Sasuke.) The three Kage level shinobi spied on them from a distance and noticed they weren't from the EN. They had these white uniforms that probably made them suffer in the heat. "Ah, shit! If they have scouts this far into Wind Country, then Valley, Demon, and Marsh Country must be destroyed." Whispered Fox.
After that, it was all ANBU sign and it roughly translated to, 'Capture if you can. Only kill if necessary.' Fox and Crow went after their targets Kakashi jumped the brown-haired one and started slashing him with a kunai. Kakashi noticed how he tried to use some kind of water technique but the huntsman didn't get the chance. Kakashi heard a shattering noise and then his opponent collapsed to the ground.
'We'll have to look into that.'
With Fox
Naruto was having a heck of a time with his opponent because she could control metal and made his Hiraishin kunai go off target. But fox knew how to improvise. Using his naturally superior speed, he marked him with a seal.
'I marked him.'
The man retreated behind a dune to gather his witts.
'I what the hell was that?!'
But it didn't matter. Naruto flashed behind him and slit his throat. The man's last thought was, 'How…?'
Fox went back to where Kakashi said to meet up.
With Crow
Crow was having a really easy time with his opponent. Granted he decided to play with him to learn everything he could before he captured him but he still felt like it was too easy. That was until he yapped about having a stealth semblance.
Crow put him in a chokehold and channeled lightning chakra into him and he was down for the count in ten seconds. Crow went back to the place Kakashi said to meet him when he finished.
A few minutes later
Everyone but Fox came back with a live body.
"Why is he dead? Asked Kakashi.
"Because he could control metal and we don't know how to suppress their abilities just yet. I'll figure something out when we have more time." Said Fox.
Kakashi nodded. "Looks like Crow and I got the live ones. Come on, we're close to Hidden Sand.
Flashback end
"The is great news." Said Onoki.
"Yup. I trust your interrogation specialists can make him talk?" Said Kakashi. Gaara nodded. "Good and we need to do it quickly. Valley, Demon, and Marsh Country are destroyed and probably don't have any survivors."
The Raikage slammed his fist on the table. "Damnit. Our only choice is to mount a defense here and now."
"But how? We can't let them attack the village." Said Mei.
"Fox and Lord Raikage should meet them in the middle. Their techniques only depend on how much chakra they have and are the fastest people alive." Replied Kakashi.
"For your plan to work, we have to not only win but also let them get ½ way into our territory." Said Gaara.
"I know. But with those three, I have no doubts about our victory. Lord Raikage? Will you take to the battlefield so soon or would you rather wait?" Asked Kakashi. The Raikage smashed his fists together again. "I'll take that as a no."
"What about the two prisoners you brought back?" Asked Onoki.
"Ah yes, those two. I trust your T&I guys and make 'em sing?" Replied Kakashi.
"Of course." Said Gaara.
"Good. In that case, I think our two speed demons should get moving while they still can." Said Kakashi. No one said anything else. "If that's all, meeting over." Everyone bowed and walked out.
With Kakashi and ANBU
Fox and Crow were in Kakashi's hotel room when Kakashi gave them their mission.
"Fox, you were in that room so you already know what your mission is. Crow, however, your primary mission is to slow them down as much as possible while avoiding direct combat. We would like it if you could gather intel but don't risk your life for it. Understand?"
"Yes, Lord Hokage." Said Fox and Crow.
36 hours later
Fox and Crow just got back from the briefing room and both were very glad to have learned what they did. Supposedly, everyone in Remnant had aura but only some could use it. Those people were either hunters or soldiers. Those who could use their aura had something called a semblance. Their version of a bloodline even though it's different for every person regardless of their bloodline bar the Schnee family.
They also learned a lot about aura. How much it can take, how much each person has, what it can do beyond semblances, and they even learned about the existence of dust but didn't get anything other than the basics because the two didn't know much about the subject.
It was also agreed upon that more field testing would be needed to learn about its weaknesses. That being said, Fox and Raven were at the southern gate about to leave for their mission.
"Are you ready?" Asked Crow.
"Yeah." Replied Fox.
12 hours later, Fox
Fox got to his stop first so just made camp and set up a bunch of Hiraishin kunai in a 600 ft^2 area with the kunai shadow clone jutsu. He wasn't worried about them dispelling. Those things could last for about six days before dispelling. Fox went to bed after making a few shadow clones to keep watch.
14 hours later, Crow
Crow watched as they drove along in vehicles of some kind with great interest. He also paid attention to where the food and water trucks were and who was in charge. There was also a camera crew filming the whole thing. Crow's brain immediately thought of several advantages but only if Fox knew as well. Crow made a shadow clone and told him to relay the information to Fox.
Crow knew he would have to do this carefully. The Kazekage gave him a drug that fucks up your chakra control so they thought it might mess with their aura a bit. Crow knew it was too soon to use it. He had to use it 12 hours before they got there or else the drug might be gone before they arrived.
With Fox and Shadow Clone Crow, 12 hours before the battle
"Back already?" Asked Fox.
"No. I came to tell you that I'm going to poison the water so you might have an easier time with them. Also, they're so confident, they have a camera crew filming this and a few drones so everyone back home can watch the live combat." Crow could feel Fox's stupefied look through his mask. Said Crow,
"In what world is that a good idea?!"
"Theirs I guess. Do you think the boss should report back to Kakashi when I'm finished or help you fight?"
Fox shook his head. "Send a shadow clone back to Hidden Sand like you did with me while you watch from afar. However, don't hesitate to step in if things go wrong. You can go now." The clone nodded and dispelled.
With Crow 12 hours before the battle
Crow watched as the clear liquid mixed with the water that would no doubt make the battle easier for the Elemental Nations. Sasuke always wondered what a normal shinobi war was like but he figured this was the closest he would get without going back in time. Crow mixed it in a little, closed the lid, and went back into hiding.
Time skip: 4 hours before the battle
Crow watched as they all struggled to keep upright as they traveled and some even puked at random times. He smirked. The poison worked like a charm.
"It's alright men." The man who Crow assumed to be commander and/or general coughed a little. "We're still strong enough to beat these savages if they have to resort to dirty tricks-" He coughed a few more times. "Like these. We're only four hours six hours away from our target. We can do this." The commander coughed a little and kept walking.
Crow smirked evilly. 'This is what you get for invading our land.' He summoned a messenger snake and told him to tell Fox they were about two hours away when the snake arrived at Fox's camp. Crow knew the snake would make it in two. "You know what to do."
With Fox, 2 hours before the battle
Fox sat in the shade of his tent's canopy meditating, preparing himself for the coming battle. Meditation always helped him. Fox sighed internally. He decided to ask Kurama for advice for the first time in a very long time.
"Hey Kurama."
"What is it Kit?"
"I know what I have to do and I can and will do it but...what happens after I'm finished?"
"You'll be treated the same way your father was. Your people will call you hero and savior you but your enemies will call you butcher and murderer."
"I see." Naruto began to think about what he was going to do after and came to a decision. "When I finish this mission, will you please let me get drunk off my ass? I'll need it in order to keep myself sane." The Nine-Tailed Fox nodded.
"Yes. I promise not to purge any liquor from your system unless it becomes too dangerous."
Naruto nodded, thanked his tenant, and left.
Fox noticed a snake rubbing up against his arm and knew it was Crow's or it would have bitten him by now. "I take it you have a message for me?"
"Yesssssssss."
Naruto took the scroll from the snake's mouth and his eyes widened at what he saw. Other than what the shadow clone told him, there were about 3,000 enemy huntsmen and 2,000 metal soldiers coming his way.
"Go back to Crow and tell him to join me ASAP and then go to Hidden Sand and tell Gaara and Ay to get their asses over her ASAP with a Sand Tsunami and lightning armor activated."
"Yesssssssss."
The snake slithered at a very fast pace towards Crow to give him the news and Naruto went back to meditating.
With Crow, 30 minutes before the battle
Crow just saw the message and groaned quietly. 'I guess it's just me and Fox.' Thought Crow as he booked it towards Fox's location.
15 minutes later
Crow and Fox met up at Fox's tent to discuss their plans for the battle that would occur in but minutes.
"We'll hope for the best but expect the worst. Do you think he'll send in the huntsmen or robots first?" Asked Fox.
"Don't know. Both sides have merit. If the huntsmen go first, they're more likely to make us use more energy however, that will buy the kages more time." Replied Sasuke.
"But if the robots go first, all we have to do is use the Hellfire Combination and they'll be vaporized." Replied Fox.
"I guess we were wrong. Especially with them being so weak from the poison, they're best strategy is the one that's least likely to fail and that one is considered suicied even by our standards." Said Crow.
"Yeah. And they're here. Five minutes away."
Fox and Crow mentally prepared themselves for the coming battle.
