Never Letting Go

We're spinning around and around and I can't seem to get control of where I am. I vaguely remember something about a wedding, but I'm not sure about anything anymore. Last time I checked, I was still breathing, but I can't really tell right at this second. Something tells me that his eyes are causing all of these strange feelings.

"Are you having fun?" His voice brings me out of my daze. God, it's so sexy. Wait, when did I start thinking that? Well, whenever it was, it's ungodly true.

"Uh, yeah. This is… really nice." I say, stumbling over my words. He's giving me butterflies. No man has every really given me butterflies this size before. Ugh, where'd that bottle of Jose Cuervo go?

"Good." He smiles slightly at me. I smile back, nervously. I feel like something more is going to happen. In fact, I think I'll be really disappointed if it doesn't.

I rest my chin on his shoulder, and close my eyes. I'm really enjoying this, this feeling of being so close to someone, I never want to let go again. I haven't felt this for a long time, and I'm gad it's finally back.

We continue going around in circles, and I've lost track of all my senses again. I'm just here, and that's all I need. I stay like this until I feel something against my skin.

"What's that?" I ask, opening my eyes and lifting my head.

"That, my friend, is rain." As he says this, it begins to rain harder. But, for some reason, we don't move. Everyone else is flocking to the gazebo, but we just stay where we are, and keep spinning. It just seems so natural. Why would we ruin this perfect moment by running away? I'm sure as hell not moving.

"This is really nice, Luke."

"I'm glad you're having a good time."

"I am. I thank thee, sir Lucas. Doth though-"

"Stop," he says in a huff, but can't help smiling.

"Fine," I say, feigning annoyance. I look into the sky, letting the downpour hit my face. I can feel Luke's eyes as they continue to stare at me. I look back into his eyes. They're so wonderful, comforting. I've lost count of how many times those eyes, along with the rest of him, have been there for me when I needed them.

"Lorelai?" he says, sounding a little unsure of himself.

I swallow hard and hesitate before I answer. "Yes?"

He doesn't say anything. He just stares right back into my eyes. His gaze is so strong, I almost have to look away, but I don't. This is happening. I can't believe this is really happening.

It begins to rain harder as he leans in closer to me. We are inches apart, and I can feel his breath. My heart begins to beat so fast, I'm sure it will fly out of my chest. I glance down, the strength of his gaze finally getting the best of me. Finally, the moment comes, and he gently brushes his lips against mine. I'm smiling against the kiss, and he can feel it, because he begins to chuckle quietly. I laugh a little along with him as the kiss deepens. I can almost feel the prying eyes of the Stars Hollow citizens staring at us from the gazebo, with jaws dropped.

But, all I care about is this moment, being here with Luke and never letting go.
