Chapter four
For the next couple of days, Harry only left the house once to get his other contacts, apart from when he went somewhere to eat. He started to write again, this time sitting at the piano. The electrician turned up and had power connect to the house, then installed power points all around the large room, along with a few lights. Harry had charmed the doorway and the wall so any magic couldn't get through to the back room, but he knew magic couldn't be used when the band was at the house. The following day all the instruments arrived and Harry set them up around the room until he thought he had it right.
The next morning Harry woke to loud banging on the door, hurried downstairs and saw the band standing there.
'Why so early?' Harry asked as he moved aside to let them in.
'We want to get familiar with the equipment, is it here?' Liam asked.
'Yep, in the back room, go through and I'll get dressed. I was up late last night writing more songs,' Harry hurried up the stairs, dressed, then had a quick breakfast before joining the band.
'You've got a lot of songs here Harry. From what I've read, there going to sound great.'
'Well, we need to work on the arrangements. Do any of you write you're own stuff?'
'Just me, but I only have about a dozen, mainly ballads though,' Mark said as he picked up his guitar and started to tune it. John went to his drums and put it all together and adjusted his seat. Liam went to the electric keyboard and set that up, while Martin went to his guitar and tuned that.
For the next few hours, the five of them discussed one of Harry's songs, working out everything. They tried a few things, changed it around, did some back up, dropped it at other places until they thought they had it. Then they rehearsed that song with all the instruments and back up.
'Man that's good,' John said.
'Yeah, it was, so let's go get lunch and we can do one more today if you want?' Harry asked looking around, then he heard a familiar voice, 'Hang on, just wait here for me,' Harry hurried through to the living room, 'Kingsley, what brings you here?' Harry glanced at the back room and noticed the four band members watching them.
'I need a word, but who are they?' Kingsley jerked his head towards the back.
'Their muggles, so no wands or magic. I'm just glad they didn't see you arrive.'
'So who are they Harry?'
'My band, Lightnings Kiss, we're rehearsing ready to record. So what did you need to speak with me about and can you're auror try to look a bit more relaxed, so they don't get suspicious?'
'Hector,' Kingsley nodded, 'Can you ask them to leave for a bit Harry?'
Harry sighed, 'Alright, were just heading to lunch anyway, I'll tell them to go and meet back here in an hour,' Harry hurried back to the other room. 'Hey, if you blokes want to head out to lunch, an old friend wants to talk to me about something. We'll meet back here in an hour or so?'
'Sure Harry. There's nothing wrong is there? That blonde bloke looks serious,' John said.
'No, nothing's wrong,' Harry gave them a reassuring smile then they followed Harry into the living room.
'We'll be back in an hour to work through the next one,' Mark said as the four of them walked out the door.
'Why are you hanging out with muggles Harry?' Kingsley asked.
'I like muggles, my mother was muggleborn remember, I grew up as a muggle.'
'Yeah, it's just strange, I don't know any wizards or witches that hang out with muggles. Anyway, where are you're glasses?'
'I've got contact lenses,' Harry said and saw Kingsley looking confused, 'Their these glasses, but small and you put them right on you're eye, look,' Harry took one out and showed him, then put the lens back in on his eye. 'Anyway, what did you want to see me about Kingsley?' Harry asked looking a little suspicious.
'It's fine Harry, I'm not here to use you like Scrimgeour wanted to. The aurors have heard about some threats against you. The few death eaters that escaped are out for you're blood for killing Voldemort.'
Harry shrugged, 'Figures, not like I can do anything about it and I'm sure the aurors will catch them, that's what they do.'
'They will eventually, but it's going to take time. I want to put an auror with you Harry.'
'Oh great, but the muggles, they will want to know why, I can't tell them.'
'Do you really need to work with muggles?'
'Look, I was approached by a muggle record producer, we just finished signing contracts and are getting ready to record. I never thought of singing professionally, now I can't wait and our band, Lightnings Kiss sound really good. I'm going to do something that's pretty normal and nothing to do with danger, for the first time in my life.'
'Alright, what if you let them think you've had death threats and need a body guard. Say it has something about how wealthy you are. I know Sirius's family were very wealthy and he left you everything.'
'I wouldn't know, I've never been to Sirius's vault, never needed to as my parents left me plenty,' Harry went and poured himself a drink, 'You would want this auror to be with me all the time, wouldn't you?'
'Yes, here and if you go out.'
'I'll be spending a lot of time in the muggle recording studio. I know they deal with big stars that have body guards, so it wouldn't look too suspicious. But if I'm with the band, we travel the muggle way, they drove me home the other day.'
'Then why not get a car and the auror can pretend to be you're driver. It won't look suspicious because of the danger and as long as no one sits in the front with him, they won't see him use magic to drive the car.'
'I know the ministry let Mr. Weasley have a car and driver when they escorted me to Diagon alley, so yeah, that might work. You're making my calm life complicated Kingsley. I thought I could finally have a normal life.'
'Yeah, sorry mate, but we can't lose you now. People are finally feeling safe and that comes down to you, they think as long as their saviour is around, they will always be safe, you give them that hope.'
'If they knew the whole story, they might realise a lot of people helped finish him off, blimey,' Harry took a sip of his drink, then saw the door open, 'Hey, what are you two doing here?' Harry hugged Hermione and Ron.
'We're leaving tomorrow, thought we'd spend some time with you, we won't know how long we'll be,' Ron said, 'Something going on Harry?'
'You know, threats, Kingsley wants me to have an auror with me. I've got the band here rehearsing, their gone to get lunch.'
'I suggested Harry say he's had death threats because of how wealthy he is and he needs a body guard.'
'Actually, that's a good idea Harry, lots of wealthy or important people in the muggle world have their own body guards. I take it you're meeting with the record producer went well,' Hermione smiled.
'Really well and the four blokes from the band and I have started working on the songs I've written. Guess what our name is and why?'
'What?' Ron asked.
'Lightnings Kiss, Madeline, that's the record producer, she saw my scar and worked out the name. She wants all of us to carry a stamp shaped like lightning, so when we sign albums or even our fans, we can stamp them. It's going to be like a symbol for our band, cool hey.'
'It's a good name, but I didn't think you'd want to be reminded of you're scar,' Hermione said.
'Normally I wouldn't, but since Voldemort is dead, I've been able to put that behind me now, so I'm fine with the name. She wanted to know if we wanted to be Harry Potter and the name, but no, I want just the one name. We've got the back room set up for rehearsals. I had an electrician come in and connect the house and room to electricity.'
'Harry, is it right to come back now?' Martin asked as he stuck his head in the door.
'Sure, come on. I might as well introduce you to my friends. This is Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley, my two best friends in the whole world. This is Kingsley Shacklebolt and sorry I don't know you're friends name Kingsley. But these blokes are Martin, Mark, Liam and John.'
'Nice to meet you,' Hermione smiled at the band, Ron just nodded.
'This is Hector Clancy, Harry's body guard,' Kingsley said.
'Body guard, is something going on Harry?' Liam asked.
'Okay, see I'm really wealthy, so I've had a few death threats. Kingsley thought I should have a body guard. Kingsley actually looks after all my finances, things like that, so he came to tell me about the threats.'
'Well at least that explains why you bought such a large house. It's not like you need the money we're about to make, will you Harry?' John said.
'No, not really, I'll probably donate it to charities or something.'
'Harry, do you think we could hear you and the band play?' Kingsley asked.
'Sure, why not, but we've only just started, so we can do that one we just rehearsed, what do you say?' Harry asked the band.
'Yeah, let's show everyone what Lightnings Kiss is like. Hope you like loud rock,' Mark laughed and walked into the back room with everyone following them. The band and Harry went to their instruments and started to play, when they finished their small crowd applauded them.
'That sound great Harry, so are you going to be doing all rock, or mix it up a bit?' Ron asked.
'We've got a few slower rock songs, some ballads, but we haven't rehearsed them yet. Let's do the one you guys did at the pub,' Harry and the band started again and got another applause from Hermione, Ron, Kingsley and Hector.
'You sound good, bit loud for my taste though,' Kingsley said but gave them all a smile.
'I'll do a soft one just for you Kingsley,' Harry sat at his piano and started sing.
'That was nice Harry. I bet you think of your parents or Sirius with that song,' Kingsley said.
'When I was writing it, I was thinking about Sirius first, then my parents, then basically everyone I've lost. Dumbledore, Dobby, Hedwig, Fred,' Harry looked at Ron.'
'I get you there Harry, I was thinking about Fred when you were singing, I miss him.'
'I know Ron, like all you're family would be. How's George doing anyway?'
'He's better, but it's harder on him as he was Fred's twin. He is thinking of opening the shop again, he said Fred would want him to.'
'Fred would, it was their dream to have that shop.'
'Well, I need to get back to work on all you're finances Harry. I'll organise a car for you and Hector will be with you at all time, so find him a place to sleep.' Kingsley raised his eyebrows.
'I've got a few spare rooms, so Hector, I hope you like loud rock.'
'I enjoyed it Mr. potter. I'll just see...Mr. Shacklebolt out and bring in my things.'
'We'll be here,' Harry sighed as he looked at his friends, 'I knew that was going to happen, Kingsley can be over protective at times.'
'Like you Harry, you were always over protective with us.'
'You two are just as bad, but I'm glad you are, I would be dead so many times if it wasn't for you two. Hermione saved me from the snake, you Ron saved me from drowning, not to mention all the other times.'
'If you can tell me which room Mr. potter, I'll take my things up.'
'Um,' Harry thought for a minute, 'Take the room with the green door then make yourself at home.' Harry watched as the auror left, 'You two going to watch us rehearse since I won't see you for a while?'
'Yep, we'll stay until dinner, so get back to work mate,' Ron said, 'But have you got anything to eat?'
Harry and Hermione laughed, 'Sure, help yourself Ron, just leave some for me, I know you're appetite.'
Ron threw a cushion at Harry, 'Git,' he said and walked into the kitchen.
'Let's get back to our work which is fun at the same time,' Harry grinned at the band and they started rehearsing again.
