Chapter 529.
"Glee Clubbed."
(Royal Woods Middle School.)
The duo of Lincoln and Jordan took their bikes to school and are both walking towards it and they wave to Ryan Hope, Gretchen and Darrel who are talking to each other. "Alright, so next Saturday we got the whole Gamers club championship going up, huh?" asked Jordan.
"Dang right" replied Lincoln. "We can begin more training when classes are done, and no need to be concerned about what Luna has planned for us this Saturday, we already know the lyrics to the song and I like them."
"Same here." Lincoln and Jordan then walk down the halls. "So, this week is gonna be the big music festival that everyone is excited about, but the one thing we don't know. Where the heck is it gonna be held?" asked Jordan.
Lincoln is about to say something, but then he realizes. "Huh, now that you mention it. I don't think Luna even told me, or I don't even know if she knows."
"No worries fellas." They see Liam and Tabby go to them. "The whole Royal Woods spring music festival is gonna be held a few blocks from my family farm, and it's gonna be a doozy too."
"The whole thing was surprised the other day, and chances Luna will know when she meets with the rest of her band mates, Sully and Mazzy were informed of this" replied Tabby.
"Wow. Awesome" said Lincoln. "Also, is there something else you guys wanted to talk about? I can tell something is up and it might have something to do with the confusing text from Clyde this morning."
The duo look to each other and then to Lincoln and tell him. "Lincoln, Clyde needs some support. He's in the glee club and he could use some help in trying to calm his nerves and also the man in charge wants to know if you've made the choice yet and he sounded really desperate."
Lincoln knew something like this might come up. "Alrighty, then. Let me go and talk to the man himself." They all follow Lincoln to the Glee Club room. But then they wonder. 'Did Lincoln even tell Luna about this?'
(Glee Club.)
They all go into the club room and they see some familiar faces are there as well. Delilah, Cristina, Emma, Chad and Richie and then they see Clyde and Chloe are there. "Hi Lincoln." Of course they know Liam and Tabby are part of this, which is kinda odd for Liam to join this club.
"Hey guys, hey Clyde how are you handling this?" asked Lincoln.
"A bit nervous, but I think I can handle this." Clyde then looks to his lyric sheets. "I was able to go through my mantra again and I am so ready for this, I'm actually going for the Glee Club Solo and I know that I am a shoe in for this. Also, sorry about the whole confusing text, I panicked and was going for Chloe, but sent it to you."
"Well, that explains why you sent multiple cake emoji's to me and called me your love" replied Lincoln. This whole thing becomes awkward for everyone, and Clyde and Chloe.
Jordan then looks to the others part of this. "Are you guys also competing for the solo act?"
"Mmm, not really" replied Emma. "We're just part of the whole thing as the backup performances in singing and also handling the stage coordination, we're also helping with attires for the whole thing."
"We're also doing this because we're gonna need to perform a number for an upcoming district championship" replied Chad. "And if that goes well, then we can move onto regionals and then states, the whole thing is gonna be performed this Friday, and if we do well, then we are so going to advance."
"That sounds cool and all, but who the heck is also competing for the solo act?" asked Lincoln.
Then the man in charge of the Glee Club shows up, with a smoothie in his hands from the Seven-Eleven, the man is Mr. Budden. "Alright everyone, settle down now. Hang on." He takes a sip of his smoothie, but does it so fast that he has a brain freeze. "Oh, ow! Why did I do that, I will never know."
He then sees Lincoln. "Well, well. Looks like you made your choice, Mr. Loud, welcome to the Glee Club and just in time too. After all of those amazing performances of singing, you are the lead role for the solo."
This shocks them and Clyde's glasses feel like cracking.
Lincoln did not see this coming. "Hang on there, Mr. Budden, now I know this sounds cool and all. But, you need to know that Clyde here is as good of a singer as I am, so let him take the shot. Also, I have two clubs to deal with and those clubs are in the music and the gamers."
"Well, the thing is that we need someone for the solo act and you my good man are a shoe in for the stage, you are taught by the best musical performer in Royal Woods, well the next generation singer, Luna Loud" replied Mr. Budden.
"Also, I've made my choice and so you are gonna be performing for the whole thing, and at this point, we can make it to the regionals and Royal Woods will win the first ever Glee Club, which we haven't won in a long, long time."
Jordan then intervenes. "Sir, this isn't right. Lincoln said he doesn't want to, he has his own choice."
"She's not wrong" said Lincoln. "I have my own thing going on and I got something else to do which involves this Saturday and next Saturday. So, I'm gonna need to decline on the offer."
"Well, that does sound important and all, but this is the Glee Club and we cannot fail this one, and I officially made up my mind" replied Mr. Budden. "You, Lincoln Loud are going to be part of the Middle School Glee Club, and it's gonna be fantastic!"
He then drinks his cherry smoothie again, and then he gets another brain freeze. "Everyone, start practicing, while I go and recover from this…. Ow."
All of them are surprised by what had just happened and they look towards Clyde who is a bit shattered by this. Lincoln goes to him. "Clyde, I am so sorry. I didn't see this coming, and I didn't even mean to."
"Well, you are good at singing, even Jordan by your side" said Richie. "After all, being taught by someone with a ton of musical knowledge makes you guys into pros too."
But he gets elbowed by Cristina. "Not helping, Richie."
Clyde sighs in disappointment. "No, it's okay. I understand, and you are mostly musically talented than anyone, so this is fine, I guess. I can be the understudy for you."
The others can tell that Clyde is not doing well, and that he's upset he couldn't do this solo act that he wanted to perform. He is part of the chess club, the math club, and the cooking club, but he wants a club he can also be part of, one he is good at and that would be singing.
Lincoln didn't like this, and then he has an idea. "Okay, guys if we can't be able to reason with him, then maybe someone can. Someone who knows about music stuff than any of us. No offense Tabby."
"None taken, mate. I know who you gonna call." Tabby chuckles and so do the others, Clyde however has no clue what is this plan Lincoln has.
(Later.)
They finish a whole day of class, and Clyde had to keep his cool and calm down through the whole thing, right now they're all in the music club room and waiting for someone.
"So, when is she getting here?" asked Liam.
Then they see Mr. Budden walk in, with Darrel who brought him here. "So, can someone explain to me why I am here and why some of you are not at the rehearsals? We have the district championship this week, people."
"Well, I wanna talk about this whole thing, the glee club and I say that I don't wanna be part of it. I have the club I can deal with and that club are the two clubs that I am accustomed to" said Lincoln.
Mr. Budden sighs. "Mr. Loud, I get it that you'd rather not be part of it and be going off and doing what you do, but your voice is a voice that could melt a person's heart, and might as well melt someone's brain freeze too, which is why I listen to some of the songs you performed and they are fantastic."
"But I made my choice and my choice is that you're now part of the glee club, and the solo act is all yours and I expect that we do the best as we can before…."
"Not gonna happen, brah." They all turn around and see, Luna, Sam, Sully and Mazzy. Along with their manager, Michelle Lewis. Luna steps forward. "Got the message from Linc about this ordeal with the glee club, and I for one am a bit ashamed at this whole gig of not letting the others partake in it."
"We're not part of the whole solo thing, just Clyde" said Chad.
Mr. Budden then speaks. "Luna, your brother's voice is the best I have ever heard, as well as yours and Jordan's as well. After all, he did learn the whole thing from his big sister and having him part of the solo act this Friday is going to make everything a dream come true for us."
Luna sighs. "Dude, as much proud I would be for little bro to be part of a big performance category club, this ain't the way. This is his choice, and his alone, and you just got him to choose whether to join or not, and he told me about this and told me about his decision and sure to heck I am okay with it and so are the rest of the family."
"Also, Linc came to the club to tell you his choice and then you come in and just tell him that he's part of it and that he got the solo act? Not cool man, you gave him the chance to talk, and yet you didn't want him to leave? You are not his manager…." said Sam. "Because that is her job."
Michelle nods with her arms crossed and wearing shades, Mazzy asks. "Why are you wearing those?"
Mr. Budden sighs. "Everyone, I can see how this is all going down, and I know that this seems a bit bad to call a good thing, but this is for a good cause."
"And Clyde here can do the gig, you just didn't even gave him a chance because you never heard him perform" replied Lincoln. "What kind of auditions are you even holding?"
"Which is why he will be auditioning and of course I will be there along with Meryl to make sure it's seen through." They see Principal Ramirez and she does not look pleased.
This makes Mr. Budden nervous and gulp in fear. "Umm, okay then… I guess we can give Clyde a shot."
They all walk out of the room, and then Clyde looks to Lincoln. "Thanks, Lincoln."
Lincoln nods. "This is what you want, this isn't about what I want, and I wanna help you try out and show them that you, Clyde McBride, can sing."
Clyde is touched by this and wipes away a lone tear, but then he takes in a deep breath and he has the look of determination. "Then it's showtime!"
(Later.)
Everyone is in the auditorium and after hearing Clyde's voice. they are impressed, even the band from the High School and they all stand up and clap at Clyde performing the solo act, and while balancing on one foot onto a chair too, which means he can sing as things go on around him.
"Wow! Now that is good, not as good as Louds…." Mr. Budden sees the stern looks from everyone. "But, it's an okay for me. Clyde, you got the solo act."
Clyde smiles and is overjoyed by this, and then he gets down from the chair. "Thank you, I won't let you down, sir."
Mr. Budden nods. "I know you won't." He then looks to Lincoln and the others. "Thank you for making this right, Lincoln. I guess I should've…."
"You know you're in big trouble for forcing a student into something they don't seek unless they actually need to do it, and let us recall that you held auditions and yet chose someone without even letting the other perform" said Principal Ramirez, sternly.
Mr. Budden chuckles nervously. "I'm in trouble, aren't I?"
"What the heck was your first guess?" said Michelle Lewis. "But, I think you're needed with the glee club, because they need you, then she can deal with you after Friday."
"The ladies not wrong" replied Meryl.
They all walk away from the auditorium and they let the Glee club practice, while Mr. Budden goes with the principal to discuss about his recent actions. Lincoln and Jordan turn around and look to Clyde.
Clyde looks to them and smiles, and he gives them the thumbs up. They smile and nod and then make their way out.
Lincoln is feeling relieved from this and then he feels like someone is pulling him close, and that was Luna. "You did the right call, bro."
Lincoln smiles. "I did what I had to, I already got some stuff I can deal with, and the glee club is all for Clyde to look forward to, also I don't know what would've happened if I became part of the whole thing."
Ryan then jokes. "What? Clyde gonna try and ruin you and your voice?" They all chuckle at the thought, at least it never did happen.
To be continued…
A/N: Based off of the episode "Flying Solo." This is Clyde's thing, and I don't want it to go bad when he tries to ruin Lincoln's voice, otherwise it'd be a total disaster and have Luna pummel him for doing so. Leave a review and tell me what you all think.
