Arc 4 Chapter 2: Green Lightning

Izuku was thinking about those words that Yusuke said to him and they were buzzing around him.

Even if you're able to transfer the quirk from one part of your body to the other, you won't get very far with it. So with all this information what do you think the best course of action is.

Izuku was in his room writing down notes. He was going to try putting Yusuke' advice to use. He focused One For All into his arm and did a Detroit Smash, and then a Delaware Smash.

Afterwards, Izuku started taking notes on how he was originally using it.

"According to Yusuke and Grandpa Torino, my respect for my dad seems to be a shackle of how I'm using One For All," Izuku said, "It feels like I'm using it as if it were a super move, like Force."

He looked at the notes and saw what he was doing. He was thinking about why his moves seemed so stiff and why there was a bit of backlash in his attacks. He realized he was thinking of OFA as some last resort trump card.

"That's it!" he said, "Quirks are an extention of an individual's body, so if I wanna use OFA more efficiently then I need to use it more evenly. Not just on one part of my body but my whole body…."

He rushed out of the apartment to Degobah Beach. Inko was concerned since he hadn't eaten yet, but Toshinori knew what he was trying to do. Once he was there he made a few platforms to practice on.

"Just try to imagine something in a microwave looking even the whole time," Izuku said to himself.

He channeled OFA at 5% starting at his legs. He then jumped and attempted to switch the power quickly to his arms but failed and fell to the ground. He then got back up.

"I'm gonna need some more work with this," Izuku said.

He kept going with the same procedure for a few minutes. He felt like he was still missing something. Suddenly, it flicked like a switch! He thought about the time when he made pastries with Gran Torino and accidentally put them on a plate that was too big.

"That's it!" Izuku said.

Meanwhile other students were training up for the Sports Festival. Yusuke and Momo were having a few sparring lessons together. He was teaching her a few procedures as far as fighting with creations. He also gave her a few books to help her with making more objects. Todoroki was practicing using his ice and refusing to use fire, much to his father's disappointment.

Uraraka continued practicing with her quirk and making objects float simultaneously. Bakugo being Bakugo was practicing with his explosions making them bigger and stronger. Everyone was determined to give it their all in the Sports Festival.

Izuku was continuing practicing his new ability, and almost perfected it. He was also working on his super moves as well.

"I'm finally starting to get it," Izuku said.

"I thought I'd find you here!" said a voice.

Izuku turned around to see Toshinori walking up.

"So this is where you've been going all this time," Toshinori said with a smile, "Young Urameshi said you've been heading straight somewhere every day after school and even on the weekends."

"Yea," Izuku said.

"Urameshi also said something about you wanting to perfect something," Toshinori said, "It has to do with One For All probably."

"Yea, actually its a good thing you're here Dad," Izuku said with a smile, "Because now I can show you what I've been doing!"

Izuku took a deep breath. He then started focusing OFA around his entire body. His skin began to glow, and veins appeared around him. His hair begun to flow with the wind and there were sparks of green lightning dancing all around him. All Might looked at this and he was amazed.

"Ahh, so this is what you've been working on!" Toshinori saiad, "Very impressive!"

"Yeah, I noticed how Yusuke uses his quirk around his entire body and he told me I should try the same with my quirk," Izuku said, "Also, I've been fixated on using OFA only when its necessary like flipping on and off a switch. Instead of that, I need to envision OFA flowing around my entire body evenly at 5%!"

"That's incredible son," Toshinori said, "If your grandmother were still here she would be proud. So what do you think you'll call this move?"

"Hmmm…. Oh I got it! Full Cowling!" Izuku said, "Since I'm basically cowling my body with the energy of One For All. It should decrease the backlash I get when performing certain smashes."

"Indeed it will," Toshinori said, "What do you say we have a sparring match for old times sake. I wanna see everything."

"Let's do it," Izuku said with a smirk.

Just like that, the 2 weeks of training went by. It was finally the day of the sports festival. Class 1A and 1B were in the back mentally preparing themselves for the sports festival.

"ALLLLLLLLLLRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT!" Present Mic said, "You could've been anywhere in the world, but you're here with us. So who's ready for a Sports Festival!"

The audience started cheering loudly.

"This festival is a time to shine for all students other than those in the hero course to have their moment to shine!" Present Mic exclaimed, "That includes, general education, business, and the support course!"

Yusuke noticed Izuku had a look of determination on his face.

"I recognize that look kid," Yusuke said, "What are you thinking?"

"I'm thinking I know how to use my quirk now," Izuku said, "Thanks for the advice by the way."

Yusuke smirked and patted his back.

"Glad I could help."

Mina pouted a bit.

"I wish we could've worn our hero costumes."

Izuku was approached by a certain person. It was none other than Shoto Todoroki, the boy who can manipulate fire and ice, but only uses ice for some reason.

"Yagi," he said, "Objectively speaking, despite that you're All Might's son, know this. I am stronger than you. I'm going to beat you."

"Whoa, getting a declaration of war from the strongest in our class," Kaminari said.

Kirishima attempted to reason with Todoroki.

"Todoroki, you truly are strong based on what I've seen," Izuku said, "However, I don't plan on backing down. If I have to prove to you that I have what it takes to be a hero then so be it. Therefore, I'm going to give it my all."

Later on the students were walking out into the field.

"Coming out first, its the students in the hero course, the ones who survived an attack, Class 1A, followed by 1B!" Present Mic said, "Joining them are students from other courses such as support, or general studies!"

"And now for the Athlete's oath," said Midnight who was walking up to the stage, "Here to give a speech about the festival, our class representative, and my surrogate nephew, Izuku Midoriya from class 1A!"

Izuku slumped down and blushed a dark red.

"So embarrassing…" he said.

"Dude get your ass up there!" Yusuke said pushing him up.

A student from Class 1B, Itsuka Kendo approached Momo. She was good friends with her.

"Hey, can you do me a favor?" Kendo asked.

"Sure," Momo said.

"Could you tell your classmate that I think he's cute?" Kendo asked, "The one who can manipulate spirit energy across his body."

"Manipulate spirit energy….. You mean Urameshi?" Momo asked.

"Yea like have you seen him?" Kendo asked.

"Yes but…."

"...So, this is your chance to show the pros what you're truly made of," Izuku said, "Go beyond Plus Ultra!"

The crowd cheered.

"Alright! Now on to the first challenge!" Midnight says pointing her whip to the spinning wheel.

The wheel stopped at Obstacle Race.

"Obstacle Race!" Midnight says.

The students got to the beginning of the arena. Izuku looked to his left while everyone seemed to look back at him with a bit of shaky looks but Shoto just had a cold stare. Izuku started channeling up his new move. He started to glow and sparks danced all around him.

"One For All, 5%, Full Cowling….."

"ALRIGHT! ON YOUR MARK, GET SET... GOOOOO!" Present Mic shouted.

Some of the top students started to run at high speeds. Some of them were frozen in place by Todoroki's ice quirk. Katsuki started using his quirk to boost himself near Todoroki.

"You're not stealing first place from me, Icy Hot!" he shouted.

Other students started using their quirks to catch up. Uraraka made her clothes weightless while Mina started skating on Acid. Ojiro waas using his tail and Shinso commanded people somehow to walk him to the stage.

Izuku was fortunate not to get caught in the ice. He started running faster than he usually does. Full Cowling was a buff that enhanced his speed, and strength. It didn't take much of a toll on his body since he was using a small output.

"Good thinking with your abilities," Mineta said, "How about you get a taste of my….. AUGH!"

He was hit by a robot. There were dozens of robots that looked similar to those from the entrance exams.

"Every obstacle course needs barriers," Present Mic said, "And what better way to start than with a bunch of robots!"

"Where does the school even get the funding for all of these!?" Momo asked.

"Beats me," Yusuke said, "But it gives me a chance to work out with my fists!"

He jumped on a robot and started pummling it using his spirit energy to boost his attack strength.

"You go, I'll catch up!" he said.

Todoroki started freezing the robots with his ice quirk. Other students thought it was so they could get through, however he was making a mess so he would get further ahead. However, Izuku was using his quirk to push the robots away. Because of the training, he could push and pull heavier objects, including the robots. He even used his signature "Delaware Smash" to make things easier.

Uraraka noticed how hard Izuku was working. It amazed her that he was trying despite various circumstances. She also had a tad blush on her face.

'He's so amazing, and brave,' she said to herself, 'He's inspired me. I have to be the best hero I can.'

Yusuke kept pummling robots as he made his way to the goal. He soon found himself face to face with another robot.

"Bigger robot, no problem," he said channeling spirit energy.

However before anything could happen, he saw a cannonball being fired. It was Momo.

"Piece of cake," she said with a smirk.

She continued running, however her top was open revealing her skin. Yusuke decided to turn away, not wanting to be a pervert. Izuku grabbed a piece of debris from a robot and decided to use it as a shield.

"This thing is really handy!" he said to himself.

There was another obstacle on the way. An area of pits. Tsu decided to climb on the ropes to get ahead. A pink haired girl was looking at the area and decided to use this to her advantage to show off her gear.

"Time to show off my babies!" she said.

She had an invention that allowed her to cross the ropes without any problems. Support students were allowed to bring gear to help them on any obstacle they come across. Katsuki noticed Todoroki getting ahead.

"Not so fast," he said.

Izuku and Yusuke were neck to neck at the next area. Hatake was catching up to them. He saw this as an opportunity to get even with Yusuke for the detentions.

"Time to get back at you!" he said.

Yusuke, who was still running sensed that Hatake was coming close to him. He moved to the left as Hatake fully ran through setting a mine off.

"Wow, he may have a strong quirk but he's not so bright," he said.

This gave Izuku an idea. Grabbing the piece of metal he dug up all of the mines. Other students were looking and confused by his actions. He then slapped the metal piece on the mines pushing him forward putting him in first place. To keep the rhythm going, he did a Delaware smash to propel himself further.

Aizawa smirked as he watched this.

"This kid!" he said.

"And in first place we have….. IZUKU YAGI!" Present Mic said.

The crowd cheered as Izuku walked through the gate. Other students started walking through. Yusuke made it in second while Todoroki came in third and Bakugo came in fourth. Uraraka walked through and walked to Izuku.

"Deku that was amazing!" she shouted, "I can't believe you got first place, I'm kinda jealous."

"Uh yea…" Izuku said, once again blushing because of how close she was.

Momo walked forward breathing heavily.

"How could this happen?" she asked herself.

She heard giggling from behind. Mineta used his quirk to stick himself onto Momo.

"Two birds with one stone," he said, "I'm a frickin genius!"

"You. Are the worst!" Momo snapped.

"That may be true, but I'm the one who got this close to a hot girl's hot bod!" Mineta said.

He felt a punch on his head and fell to the ground. It came from Yusuke.

"Get over yourself," he said.

"Alright, the top 42 students that made it in will qualify for the next round!" Midnight said, "Those of you who didn't make it in, take to heart that you did your best, and that's all that counts!"

"Now! On to the next challenge!" Midnight shouted. She spin the wheel with her signature sultry pose. The wheel then landed on…

"Cavalry Battle!" Midnight shouted.

"What exactly is a cavalry battle?" Tadashi asked raising his hand

"Oh right, the Cavalry battle is where you have three or four people carrying one other person!" Midnight explained.

"Its pretty much like a tug of war where you fight to earn points," Mina told him.

"Maybe you should let me do the talking here!" Midnight shouted, making Mina be quiet.

"Anyway! The one who got fourth will have 705, third will have 715, second will have 720." Midnight said.

"What does first place have?" Izuku asked?

"Oh yeah! First place will have..." Izuku was thinking he'll have 725 or 730, but Midnight dropped a rather large bombshell. "1,000,000 points!"

All eyes suddenly locked onto Izuku.

"Ooooohhhhhhhh shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiitake mushrooms," Uraraka saiad, "Deku, team up with me!"

"Are you sure?" Izuku asked, "Everyone's gonna be after me and my stupid points."

"Sure I'm sure," she said, "Its better to pair up with people you like."

Yusuke also joined his team, alongside the girl known as Mei Hatsume.

The battle was intense, having to avoid balls, tongues, and also an explosive student who was close to anger. However, thanks to the power of teamwork, Izuku kept his headband in tact. All of the students were either amazed, or jealous of Izuku and how he was using his quirks together. Momo was more amazed by how well Yusuke managed to use his quirk to the best of his abilities. After the cavalry battle, Izuku qualified for the 3rd round along with his friends. Inko was watching at home and crying a river of tears. Yusuke's Mom was covering herself to avoid the tears.

"You're gonna flood the whole apartment!" she said.

"I'm just so proud of my baby!" Inko said.
