THE TECHNO QUEEN (Worm AU, humour, with extra HAM&CHEESE!)

1.1

Amy was impatient.

God, why was the bank always so crowded?

And then the lights went out.

Had the power gone down? But then she heard a booming, dramatic laughter behind her and she swiveled to see. A girl was standing in the middle of the room, laughing maniacally, her head thrown back, smoke dissipating from around her. She'd probably arrived via a… smoke bomb or something? She had long dark, curly hair, and a dark red cape that nearly reached the floor. She wore black spandex interspersed with some light metallic armor here and there. There was a futuristic gun hanging from a belt she was wearing, the belt itself looking like something a heavy weight champion would wear, a big golden skull on the front. Her face was hidden by something that looked like a motorcycle helmet, but, again, like with her gun, it looked futuristic. A tinker, most likely.

Amy tensed. So, a new Cape had come to Brockton Bay, high on power and superiority, looking to steal some hard cash.

"Citizens of Brockton Bay!" She said in a booming voice, gesturing at the frightened crowd with a sweeping arm.

"All of you lie down on the ground now, if you do not wish to face the mighty wrath of THE TECHNO QUEEN!" She yelled, posing theatrically.

Definitely a Tinker.

In a sort of confused and dazed way, the people did as she said. She was a bit… startling. The woman vaulted over the counter and ran into the back room. For ten minutes there was just the sound of cursing and muttering and then a shout of "THE TECHNO QUEEN is victorious yet again!"

No one had run away in the meantime, because at some point, unnoticed by her and every single other thirty other odd people in the bank, generic looking robots with generic futuristic looking guns had taken up guard at each possible exit point.

Techno Queen, or so she called herself, vaulted the counter again, now holding a middle sized beige sack with a big green dollar sign on it one hand. Amy stared. That… didn't make any sense. You could steal more money out of ATM machine! Why would someone rob a bank in broad daylight just for such a mediocre sum of money!?

Suddenly, there was a loud sound outside the bank. Techno Queen perked up and headed towards the front of the bank and looked out through one of the windows.

"Ah," she said. "So the heroes have finally mustered up the courage to face me! I'll show these so called Wards what THE TECHNO QUEEN has to say about that!"

And then, without even hesitating, a lone villain Tinker faced with the threat of an entire Ward team did possibly the stupidest thing she could have done. Dramatically (Amy was beginning to suspect that one could tack on the word to any action the Techno Queen did and be accurate) Techno Queen flung open the doors. Her cape flowed behind her in a nonexistent breeze.

"Heroes of Brockton Bay!" she announced. "Hear me and fear my name, for I am THE TECHNO QUEEN! Surrender quietly, or be prepared to face complete and utter obliteration at my hands!"

A split second later, she dove to the side as one of Gallant's emotion beams went sailing in her direction. The beam met the wall instead and Techno Queen pulled herself up, a bit flustered.
"So they have chosen a dignified defeat over a cowardly compromise. Truly, the Wards are deserving to be my rivals." She said solemnly.

She turned (dramatically) back to the interior of the bank and she raised her hands.

"Fight my minions! Fight for your mistress!"

The robots left their guard positions, storming the entrance door, Techno Queen following them. At being left unguarded, all of the hostages began a stampede towards the backdoor, glad for the escape. But Amy knew that her healing skills might be needed so she ran in the opposite direction towards the fight.

What she saw was… hmm. Okay then.

Browbeat was surrounded by at least four broken robots already, and in the process of smashing a fifth one's head into the pavement. Vista was running interference, Clockblocker was freezing robots left and right, Gallant was trying helplessly to hit Techno Queen in the chaos, and Aegis was charging the robots like a flying bull. Techno Queen herself was just kind of standing there in the middle of it all, cackling in a decidedly evil sounding way, occasionally stopping to monologue about the hopelessness of the situation at the heroes.

A hand settled on her shoulder and Amy squeaked, looking behind her to see Glory Girl.

"V-Victoria!"

"Hi Ames. Glad to see you're okay." Her sister smiled at her.

"Why aren't you fighting?" she asked curiously.

"It's just that I… well. Look at them. Really look at them. Not one of them are even scratched. Except for Aegis, who keeps using himself as a cannon ball, but what can you do."

Amy looked. Victoria was right. As she watched, one of the robots snuck up on Clockblocker and hit at him with the butt of its gun, but the hit went wide, ridiculously wide, not even close to connecting, drawing only attention to the fact that it was behind the Ward. Clockblocker quickly and easily tagged him, freezing the robot in place for later demolishing from Browbeat when it began moving again.

"I think they've got it handled, don't you?" Victoria said

"Uh… yeah. You're right."

"Of course I am. I always am."

Amy rolled her eyes at her sister's antics, but she let herself be scooped up in her arms nonetheless. And then they flew off into the sunset together. Or in the direction of the Lord's Market. Whatever.
