I was still in my bed sleeping when I heard the door open and someone said "Oh, Spike?" I woke up yelping in surprise and then fell to the ground. Ouch. That's going to hurt. Rarity. Of course. I rubbed my head and growled in frustration. I did not want to be awoken this early in the morning. Rarity saw me on the floor and said "Oh, terribly sorry darling. I was looking for Spike." I got up and dusted off my wings because it had collected some. I gave her a glare and said annoyingly "Good morning to you Rarity. As you can tell, this is not Spike's bedroom but in fact my own in here. He's actually down the hall a bit. Oh, in case you haven't noticed, I DON'T LIKE BEING WOKEN UP THIS EARLY IN THE MORNING! THE KING OF ALL BEASTS NEEDS HIS BEAUTY SLEEP!" I threw Rarity out of the room and slammed the door before going back to sleep. Sorry. I'm not a morning person. So when you wake me up early, I get very grumpy. It's typical. I did it while growing up, and it still sticks with me as an adult. You know what they say: Old habits die hard. I think I should put in a Do Not Disturb sign on my door so this thing doesn't happen again.

After a bit, I went to go get some breakfast, but I saw Spike flying around the corner with Rarity flying right behind him. I didn't even bother looking because I didn't have time to deal with it. From what I could tell, it seemed like Spike was rushing to get out the door and Rarity thought it was for a certain thing even though that wasn't the case whatsoever. Once Spike made it out the door, Rarity stopped him and tried to ask him a question. Of course, he wasn't paying attention that much and Rarity's patience was starting to wear thin. Spike had to get to the post office before noon and Rarity thought it was ridiculous and said "Alright very funny. Obviously, you get the bigger basket and I-" before she noticed Spike was gone. Yeah, he disappeared just like that. She was confused and started wondering where he went off to. I headed to the kitchen to make some breakfast before I went to the dining room table to eat it. I was alone in the room, but it gave me time to think. Suddenly, Twilight came in and said "Good morning, Zach." I still had bags under my eyes and said groaning "Morning Twilight." Twilight seemed concerned and asked "Are you alright, Zach?" Not really.

I sighed and said "Not really. My sleep got interrupted early this morning by Rarity because she was looking for Spike for some reason. Unfortunately though, because I'm not a morning person, I kinda threw her out of my room and slammed the door." When I say that now, I feel ashamed for doing that. My ears drooped down and my face turned red in embarrassment. Twilight now understood my situation and came over next to me. She said "Is that really what happened?" Yes, it did. I'm telling the truth here. "Well, that would explain the noises I heard from your bedroom this morning. I thought nothing of it and I was too tired to even want to investigate." I don't know why I did that though. Twilight lifted my head and met me at eye level. "We all make mistakes. I get it. It was quite early in the morning and you didn't want to be disturbed. Most ponies can find that reasonable. I'm not really the biggest morning pony either." Huh. I guess that makes sense since you like staying up late at night a lot. "However, we shouldn't get angry and take it out on others." I know, but it was the heat of the moment. I do regret it though. "That's all that matters." What does?

"As long as you regret it afterwards, you know you're doing the right thing." I guess that's true. I sighed and said "I guess I should give Rarity an apology, huh?" Twilight nodded and said "That would be a good idea. But first, since you seem very tired, let me brighten up your day a bit." And how would you do that? Before I could ask, Twilight slammed her lips against mine and gave me a passionate kiss. I returned it of course because well, she's that pretty of a mare. I'm just saying. After probably about two minutes, we pulled away and stared into each other's eyes. Yeah I know. It's become pretty routine to do that. I could care less though. Doesn't matter to me. I said "I'll be back. I need to go run some errands." Twilight smiled and said "Okay, but don't be gone too long." I won't. I left the castle and went towards the gem cave because I knew that Rarity would go on a rant about why Spike didn't accompany her to the cave which I do find to be unusual, but considering the situation he's in, it's understandable. Rarity just doesn't know yet. Of course, she was also nitpicking at Applejack for not holding the basket the way Spike would, but there's not much Applejack could have done anyway. She doesn't have hands in case you forgot, Rarity. So cut her some slack, why don't ya?

Anyway, I heard Applejack say "Rarity, Spike's been followin' ya closely since he got to Ponyville." That is true. I have seen it for as long as I have been here in Equestria. "And in case ya hadn't noticed, AH AIN'T SPIKE!" I guess Applejack forgot she was in a cave because as soon as she said that, the bats were awakened and started flying around in the cave. Both her and Rarity quickly ran out screaming and Rarity said "Actually Applejack, I had noticed!" Both of them continued to take off and I went back to the castle. Twilight was organizing books in the library and I wanted to help her out. Anyway, as Twilight was about to put a huge pile of books into one of the sections, the door opened and it caused Twilight to jump in surprise which caused the books to drop on the floor. It turns out Rarity had returned once again. My goodness, her mane was a mess. Twilight said "Um, hi Rarity. What's up?" Rarity was quite panicked and simply groaned in frustration. She said "Besides my mane, that is a question for Spike!" Welp, he's not here, so I can't help ya with that. He's at the post office. Again. He's been going there quite a lot recently.

It doesn't bother me but it does make me curious though. Twilight started picking up the books and said "Oh, well, Spike isn't here. I think he's at the post office." You would be correct. Rarity pushed in some sort of lounge chair and said "AGAIN?! What is it with Spike and the post office?" I don't know. But how did that lounge chair appear? We didn't have that in the castle before. Something seems suspicious here. Twilight seemed to be concerned and asked "Rarity, what's going on?" Everything is. LOL. Moving on. Rarity said "Spike declined my invitation to the gem cave and I intend to find out why!" I think I know why, but I can't reveal that or else it will mess up the lesson for this episode. Twilight seemed curious and said "Hmm, that doesn't sound like Spike." It normally doesn't, but there's a reason why. "Did you two have some sort of fight?" I doubt that. If there was, I would have known right away. Rarity looked at Twilight like that was the stupidest thing she ever heard and said "A fight? Goodness Twilight, what in Equestria would we fight about?" A lot of things. You would be surprised at how some have arguments for the dumbest reasons. It happens a lot in my own culture back home. Twilight said "I've had arguments before, and they can put a real strain on friendships." Right. The Moon Dancer incident back in Season 5. Who could forget that? I sure haven't.

Rarity said "Well certainly. But I think I'd remember if we had an argument." I'm sure you would, but sometimes, they are more vague and harder to tell. Twilight said "Maybe you didn't realize it?" Perhaps, but that's not our current problem here. You have to keep digging here. "Do you think you could've done something that unintentionally hurt his feelings?" I don't think so. Nothing happened between the two of them, so you can drop those theories Twilight. Rarity said "If I didn't realize what I did, how would I know what I have done when I did it?" I'm not sure. After Rarity said that, it hit her like a load of bricks. She quickly got up and knocked over the books again. "I wonder if that's it." Not really. It's something else. "It certainly would explain his behavior." Yes, it would, but there are other things besides purposely avoiding someone. "I must apologize!" Uh, for what though? Twilight seemed confused and asked "For what?" Rarity said "Oh *spits out saliva* That's hardly the point." What do you mean by that? Of course it is! Only dumb people say that! I don't think you're one of them. At least I don't think so. I could be wrong, but I don't think so. "Poor Spikey-Wikey! This calls for a grand gesture!" Really? Ugh whatever.

Rarity quickly ran out the door and left both me and Twilight in stunned silence. She said "Okay good talk." I stuck my head out the door and yelled down the hall "Sorry Rarity for earlier!" Rarity knew what I was talking about and yelled back "It's fine, darling! It happens!" I turned back around and Twilight simply groaned because of the lounge chair she now had to get rid of. I said "I'll take care of that." I charged up my scepter and teleported the chair away to my bedroom. What? It's a bit bland and it needs some decoration, so I'm putting that in there for extra seating. I went over to the post office and noticed that Gabby, yeah the griffon that was seen a few times in the series, was doing something there. After receiving mail from Derpy, the door opened and in came a giant box of stuff which seemed really off. Gabby was confused, and Derpy didn't want to deal with it, so she closed the door and hid behind the counter on the other side. I just rolled my eyes in annoyance because this was over the top and quite ridiculous. It was unnecessary to put it simply. Gabby said "Wow, that's a big crate of stuff you're mailing!" I don't think she's mailing that, Gabby. Not even I would be shipping that many items in one day. Believe me. I don't.

Gabby went through the box and popped out on the other side before Rarity saying while struggling to move the box "I'm not mailing it!" Then why push it that close to the desk? They might think you're trying to mail something. Gabby was obviously using logic here and asked "Then why are you pushing it into the post office?" Because this is where Spike was last and spends most of his time at. If you understand the situation, it makes sense. But if you don't, you would be confused and ask logical questions. Rarity seemed surprised and said "Oh, I didn't realize griffons worked at the Ponyville Post Office." They don't. Gabby's just mailing stuff between here and Griffonstone. Gabby just laughed and helped Rarity up while saying "Oh *laughs some* No. I don't work here exactly. I'm the official mail carrier of Griffonstone!" What did I tell you? The very idea of a griffon working at a post office sounds so ridiculous it's not even funny. "Gabby Griffon. Nice to meet ya!" She stuck out her claw and Rarity hesitated before shaking her claw. Of course, Gabby grabbed it and shook it too hard causing Rarity's body to move up and down.

Her mane was messed up a bit and said "Yes well, these things aren't for sending, they're for apologizing to Spike." Yeah, I was there not that long ago. I remember quite clearly. Gabby now understood and said "Ohh, Spike was just here. He went to go make us-" before Rarity cut her off and said "That's perfect! It'll give me a chance to practice!" Oh dear. I can only imagine all the ways this could possibly go wrong. "You stand there and tell me if I hit the right apologetic notes." What kind of heresy is this?! How the heck is Gabby going to know if you give a good apology? She hasn't been in this situation. At least I don't think so. Anyway, the point is, you can't expect her to know what kind of situation you're dealing with and just go on with it. They're not mind readers you know. Rarity went up into the box and Gabby seemed confused. She asked "What are you apologizing for?" I honestly have no idea whatsoever. Rarity turned around and said "Darling, I don't see why that matters." Uhh, because if you don't know what you're apologizing for, then what's the point? Others will look at you like you're stupid or something and it will make you look like a fool. I'm just saying. Anyway, as Rarity threw stuff out, Gabby started catching these items until a whole bunch of them toppled on top of her. Ouch. That probably hurt. She poked out the two purple and red gems so that she could get a better view of what was going on.

The lights turned off and there was a light shining down on her. Also, she was holding up a record player and played some dramatic music for some reason. I never watched it, but I know exactly what reference Hasbro is referring to here. This was from the movie Say Anything where literally the guy stands outside the bedroom window of his girlfriend's house holding up a boombox playing her favorite song. If you've watched the movie, you know what I'm talking about. If not, well… I hope I didn't spoil anything for you. Also, please don't sue me. I may have "deep pockets," but the author does not. He can't afford a lawsuit because he's just not in the financial situation for one. So please, if you're offended, don't sue me or him. There's no point. Your case will be thrown out right away because of how stupid it sounds. Anyway, let's move on here. "And that is why I simply cannot bear the thought of having hurt you." This voice sounds so weird, but I won't make any comments on it for now. "And even though I don't know what it is that I did, I want to know that it doesn't matter! Because I'm prepared to do anything to make it right!" Okay then. That… was something else.

Everything went back to normal and Rarity was smiling again. Gabby tried to say something, but you couldn't hear anything except muffled sounds. Rarity noticed that and lifted up the items before saying "Oh, sorry dear." Gabby repeated herself and said "I said… that sure sounds genuine!" Well of course it would be to you. But it's rather unnecessary. But, you don't know her very well, so I would just keep quiet for now. Rarity was offended by that and said "Well of course it sounds genuine! It is genuine!" She turned around and dropped the stuff back on Gabby. Oh brother. Spike walked in and was confused. He asked "Rarity, what are you doing?" Being ridiculous. That's all. Rarity didn't seem to pay attention and said "Obviously, I'm working on my apology to you Spike." Wait for it. "I don't know how I could be more genuine I- *gasps* Spike!" There it is. I can't believe it took Rarity this long to figure out Spike was actually there. Rarity quickly dashed off and the setting changed again. The lights turned off, the single light shined down from above, and the record player went up into the air. "Oh Spike, I am so sorry! Please forgive me! *throws record player across the room* You have to forgive me! I don't know what I did or why you are mad at me, just please say you forgive me! Pp-lll-eassseee." Okay then.

Rarity buried herself at Spike's feet and he was confused as heck to what was going on. He had that face that said "What the heck did I just witness? I am so confused." After a few seconds, Spike said "Of course I forgive you, but what are you apologizing for?" That's what we're trying to figure out! But SOMEPONY here doesn't want to tell us why! Rarity was offended again and yelled "Why does everypony keep harping on that? Wait. You don't?" Of course he doesn't, you dimwit! You never did anything wrong, so you can drop the act here. Spike said "No. I'm not mad at you about anything." Rarity still seemed confused and asked "Bu-but bu-but I don't understand." I do. You're just being ignorant here. "If you're not upset with me, why in Equestria would you refuse to go to the gem cave?" Maybe because he had other plans. Duh! Did that ever cross your ignorant mind Rarity? No, it didn't. So don't even bother. Spike said "Uh, because I had other plans?" Gabby burst out of the pile of stuff and yelled "With me!" She stood next to Spike and Rarity couldn't believe her eyes. She started to panic and put part of her hoof in her mouth.

She said "I don't understand." How can you not understand?! It makes perfect sense right here. "You two know each other?" Apparently so. Spike said "Gabby and I are sorta pen pals." You could say that from the bond they have with one another. Gabby said with enthusiasm "Yeah! There was this whole thing where I pretended to have a Cutie Mark because Griffons don't get Cutie Marks, so Princess Twilight had Spike send a bunch of letters out to Griffonstone about the first griffon ever to get a Cutie Mark! Which I really didn't have." Yeah, I remember that episode quite well. Season 6 Episode 19 "The Fault In Our Cutie Marks." But I do wonder though what has been happening all this time though because well, that was three seasons ago and in real time, a little over 5 years. Spike said "Gabby wrote back explaining things, and after that, we just started writing back and forth." How come I didn't notice it until now? How weird. All this time and not once did it get mentioned before present time. Gabby took the ice cream and said "Turns out we have a lot in common!" I'm sure you do. "We both come from cultures that don't have the friendliest reputations." Right. Dragons and Griffons. Two species that love to hoard things for themselves and destroy anyone who dares to get close to their "precious" valuables. Even my species doesn't have the friendliest reputation either.

You look throughout human history and you see how bad it is. But, that does NOT mean we should try to erase it entirely. This is the current problem right now in our society. You have people going around trying to change everything simply because they don't want the reminders of the past. I have told people this all the time back home: History is meant to be learned from, NOT to be dwelled on. It's supposed to set an example of what we should not do and make us strive to become better. I just wanted to point that out so that no one can take this and twist it to their own selfish purposes just to get their flawed point across. Anyway, moving on. Spike said with pride "And we're both in the message sending business!" That is true. Gabby agreed and both of them ate their ice cream in literally one bite. Incredible. I would have taken my long thick tongue and just devour it in seconds. Gabby said jokingly "I wish I could send scrolls with my breath." Har har. Very funny. Both of them laughed and I knew Rarity did not like being the third wheel here. I could easily sense out the jealousy that radiates from her eyes.

As Rarity was giving those looks, I noticed my horn started to glow again. Why is it though that every time someone is having a negative emotion, my scepter-turned-horn starts to glow? That is so weird. Rarity fake laughed and said "Now I understand why you didn't come to the gem cave." I understood that a long time ago. "Having a friend in town is a rare treat." I guess. It depends though. "Look, it's your visit today, maybe we can do something tomorrow." It's not that simple Rarity. There's more to it than that. "Fabric shopping?" Nope. I'm good. I don't need any of that crap right now. "I know you love to pick out the colors!" I guess so. But just wait. Spike said "Uhh, actually, now that there's a griffon at Twilight's school, Gabby's here all the time." Makes sense. I have read in fanfictions before that Gabby and Gilda were sorta like actual family to Gallus and actually cared about his well being which is very nice since Griffons don't really care that much about anyone else but themselves. Rarity seemed shocked at that statement and Gabby said "Grandpa Gruff asked for a lot of updates on how Gallus is doing." I bet even though that man has no respect for anyone whatsoever. "Speaking of which. I better get going." Yeah definitely. That mail isn't going to mail itself. Spike flew up and said "I'll fly with you." Rarity didn't understand and said "All right. You two fly along. I'm sure Spike and I can do something some other… time?"

Rarity saw them fly away and looked heartbroken. I saw her head to the fabric shop and I followed after her. When she was in the fabric shop, she was looking at two shades of purple. There was hardly any difference. One was just a little bit darker than the other. That was about it. Other than that, they were pretty identical. "I cannot decide which shade of purple is the most royal! Maybe I should ask Zachary about it. He would know." Your wish is my command! I appeared in my lion form and said "You called me?" Rarity nodded and said "Do you know which shade of purple is more royal? I'm asking you because you're royalty and you would have an idea." I looked closely at the two and said "The slightly darker one to the left is more royal." Rarity said "Thank you darling." I smiled and said "No problem Rarity. Let me know if there's anything else you need." I went into my shadow form and disappeared. She went back to frantic mode and said "But then there's the pink! How will I ever choose?" Rarity ran around and I could tell Rainbow was starting to get annoyed because of all that stuff she was carrying on her back.

Rainbow said "Too bad Spike's not here. I bet he could help you narrow it down." She was about to collapse when I reappeared in my lion form and took most of the fabric off of her which took most of the weight with it as well. Rarity looked out the window and saw Spike having a good time with Gabby. He's a good sounding board isn't he?" Perhaps. Rarity looked away and closed the blinds before peeking one last time. I saw a flashback of where Rarity would have Spike lick the gems to see which ones tasted good before she would buy it. Now, back in the present, Rarity acted like Spike was there, but was disappointed when he didn't appear. Rarity was about to attempt to lick the gem, but I appeared and carefully licked it with my giant hard sandpaper like tongue. I took all of them and tasted each color to see which ones tasted good and which ones didn't. Of course you may be wondering how I'm able to taste gems like a dragon does since I'm not one. I'll tell you how. The thing is that I can grant myself access to dragon features simply by using my scepter and letting its magic flow through my body as it performs the spell. I said "Red, blue, and purple taste good. Yellow and green do not." Rarity nodded and gave the pony the money. Before she headed out, she saw Gabby and Spike stop by to see Gallus, Yona, and Silverstream to deliver some mail.

Gabby handed Gallus the camera and she and Spike took a selfie together which made Rarity that more jealous. I saw another flashback where Rarity would come out of the store with minimal stuff while Spike carried most of it and Rarity would catch it for him if it was about ready to fall. Now, back in the present, Rarity had to carry all that stuff herself. But, I came to the rescue and put that stuff on my back so she wouldn't fall to the ground. Rarity obviously thanked me for it, but saw Gabby and Spike sitting together one again drinking something together. After they drank their beverage, Gabby gave Spike the cherry and he ate it. Rarity gave a glare towards Gabby and I could tell that rage and jealousy burned inside of her seeing that Gabby had taken away her Spike. Finally, I saw one more flashback where Rarity was at the spa and Spike would eat the cucumber that they would put over your eyes when you were having a makeover. For any of you ladies out there reading this story, you know what I'm talking about. For us guys, we can only guess what happens.

Anyway, Rarity would give Spike the other cucumber to chew on and both of them would smile. Now, back in the present, Rarity tried doing the same thing, but noticed that no one was there. So, she was depressed and ate the cucumber by herself. Ouch. That probably hurt. She went back to her Boutique and simply sighed in sadness. She was sowing something and put some pins on a red ball. I don't know. I know nothing about fashion. For you people out there that are part of the fashion world, you know what this is. I'm just an ordinary human turned lion prince who could care less about that stuff. It doesn't matter to me. Clothes are clothes. I just wear them. If it fits, I wear it. If it doesn't, I don't. Simple as that. Rarity said "Could you bring the pin cushion a little closer, dear?" Oh, that's what it is. Okay, that gives me some context, but I'm not exactly sure what its purpose is. "I suppose now that Spike's always busy with Gabby, I'm just now realizing how much his presence has meant to me over the years." Yeah, I can see that. Some people might argue this is as a potential reason for Sparity, but close friends could easily be like that. Let me be clear though: I do NOT hate Sparity, I just think it's overused. It's one of the three most overused shipments in the MLP fanbase. So don't ask me if I'm not exactly the most enthusiastic about Sparity. I like my shipments and other people like theirs. So, for the love of Celestia, please respect each other and don't attack them for liking a certain shipment.

It won't solve your problems and there's no point in doing it because it would make you look like a hypocrite, so just don't do it. Anyway, moving on. "Getting closer darling. I don't want to prick you." I doubt that will happen. But whatever. "I have to admit, everything feels a bit less than without him." I can only imagine. Fluttershy brought the pin cushion too close and Rarity reacted with shock. "Too close!" She fell to the ground and Fluttershy helped her up. "Oh darling, it's no use. Thank you for trying. I'm just accustomed to the help of a small, highly attentive dragon." I know you are, but you're going to have to get used to this. Fluttershy said "Maybe you should let Spike know how grateful you are for everything he's done for you." Now there's an idea. But… this is Rarity. Because she has jealousy and hatred towards Gabby, she's going to abuse that and use that for her own selfish gain. I can see where this path is headed. Anyway, I was sleeping and the scepter forced me to get up even though I didn't want to. So, I got up and went down the hall to brush my teeth for the morning. However, I did see Rarity go into Spike's room. So after I finished brushing, I got curious and followed her.

I went into my shadow form and hid inside the walls so I could observe. Spike was snoozing away in his bed, but then Rarity's shadow appeared on him and that inclined him to wake up. When he saw Rarity, he freaked out and screamed a little. Yeah, Rarity had basically invaded his personal space and gave a creepy smile at him while he was sleeping like some creepy demon watching you at 3 AM. Anyway, Rarity lit up her horn and said "Oh, I am sorry Spike. I didn't mean to frighten you." Yeah, maybe if you didn't have that creepy smile on your face, he would have thought differently. Spike asked with confusion "Rarity, what are you doing here?" That's kinda what I'm wondering about. Rarity said "Well, I realize it's late or rather early, but I have a surprise and I just couldn't wait to share it!" I see, and what pray tell might that be? "The Great Gem Crevasse of the Crystal Mountains!" Oh my. I remember that. You can only do it once a year and going through there is extremely difficult because of the conditions of the mountain range. Rarity smiled and Spike took the brochure before running over to turn on the lamp so he could actually read it. Spike was amazed and Rarity continued. "It is only accessible once a year and I felt a little day trip would make a wonderful thank you for all the help you've given me over the years." This is more than I expected.

Spike said "Oh, but I'm supposed to meet Gabby today for her rounds." Yeah, I guess that can be boring just delivering mail all day. Anyway, Rarity deeply frowned and said with hurt in her voice "I see. Well, there's always next year." Her ears drooped down and she walked out the door. Spike stared at the brochure in the trash can and said with determination "You know what? I'll just write her a note." That doesn't seem too bad. Rarity turned around in excitement and said "Are you sure?" No, he's lying. Of course he's sure, you dimwit! What kind of question is that? Good grief. Spike said with confidence "Absolutely!" He went over to write a note to Gabby and Rarity clanked hooves together in excitement like she was about ready to pee herself. Hopefully, that doesn't get on the floor because I don't NOT want to clean that up. No thank you. I know Twilight would make me clean it up if she saw that. Anywho, I actually had to get some gems for me and Twilight's upcoming anniversary for us being together. Yeah, we've been together for quite a while now.

So, I went onto the train and went through the Crevasse of the Crystal Mountains to collect all the red and purple gems I could find. I had the route planned out so I wouldn't cross paths with Rarity and Spike because that would seem suspicious. Anyway, after I was done, I got on the train and headed back to Ponyville. Whoo-wee were those mountains cold. I did make sure that I was warm and I made my fur act like polar bear fur so I wouldn't need excessive winter gear. It was just a simple spell I used. Yes, I'm that powerful. Remember, I'm the most powerful creature in all of Equestria, so I can create very simple spells like this that work wonders. Anyways, I got off the train and headed for my Fortress of Solitude. However, I heard Spike and Rarity come off the train and I observed from afar. Spike said "Wow. Rarity, you weren't kidding. The gem crevasse was amazing!" Yeah, I can definitely agree. "I'll be snacking on these for a week!" Are you sure about that? That doesn't seem very wise if you ask me. Rarity said "What did I tell you?" I don't remember. There were a lot of things you said, so I lost track. Suddenly, Gabby said "Hey Spike!" Hello to you too. Spike ran up to Gabby and said "Gabby! You won't believe where I went today!" I'm pretty sure she did. Remember, you sent her a scroll, so she probably most likely read it. Gabby said "Actually, I think I will. I got your scroll!" What did I tell you? "The great gem crevasse sounds a lot better than doing my rounds!" I guess so.

Spike nodded and showed Gabby the gems he collected by opening it up so she could get a full view of them. "Woah! It was definitely better! I gotta get back to Griffonstone, but you'll have to tell me all about the crevasse tomorrow!" No problem. I'll gladly do that. Spike picked up the backpack and said "Absolutely! Thanks again Rarity." Sure thing. Happy to have gone with you. "What a great day!" It most certainly was. However, Rarity was not exactly happy and desired more. That made me suspicious. But I need to get these gems to the Fortress of Solitude before Twilight sees me with them. I spread out my eagle wings and took off to my secret location. After I put them away, it was already dark outside, so I headed back to the castle and went to bed. I woke up again the next morning and went out for a quick walk. However, I did notice Gabby and Spike flying by Sugarcube Corner, so I decided to follow them. I went into my shadow form so they wouldn't see me. Gabby said "Okay, start from the beginning! I want to hear everything!" Alright. Sounds reasonable enough. Here goes nothing.

Let's see here. I went to the Crystal Mountains, went through a certain section of crevasse to find specifically red and purple gems, went back on the train to Ponyville and put them in my Fortress of Solitude so I could make something for me and Twilight's upcoming anniversary for us being together. There ya go. That's it. Spike said "Well, to get to the crevasse, you have to climb across a rope bridge because the air's too thin to fly!" Well, for me, I could use my shadow form and I moved across quite easily without getting pushed back by the wind, ice, and snow of the Crystal Mountains. Gabby seemed quite excited and said "That is amazing! Then what?" I saw Rarity walking by and I knew Gabby was going to crash into her because of how quickly she was moving. So, out of quick reflexes, I charged up my scepter-turned-horn and summoned an obsidian wall. Unfortunately, Gabby crashed right into it with her back and it did not feel very nice. Rarity obviously heard it and was shocked to see an obsidian wall there. I got rid of it and Gabby asked "Where did that wall come from?" Rarity obviously knew and Spike said "I think a certain prince is following us around." HEY! I'm just trying to prevent accidents here! Good grief! "But to be fair, it seemed like he was trying to prevent you two from hitting each other, so that's a plus." Thank you! About time you acknowledged that!

Rarity said "Well, with that aside, I was just looking for you." Oh dear. What is it this time? Spike seemed confused and asked "You were? Why?" We'll find out in a second. Rarity said "Because, I just acquired… THESE!" Wait WHAT?! POWER PONY PALOOZA?! THAT IS LITERALLY THE BEST EVENT YOU COULD EVER HAVE AT A CONVENTION CENTER HERE IN EQUESTRIA! Man, I would love to go to that. But unfortunately, Twilight needs my help again with something. Of course, she fluttered her eyes at me and gave me a certain look and sadly, it got me to crack. Yes yes. I know. That's being a wimp. But when you are courting the most beautiful mare in all of Equestria, the pressure gets to you and you just can't resist. She does it so well. Anyway, Spike got excited and said "PASSES TO POWER PONY PALOOZA?! FOR TODAY?!" Dang, someone's excited. I don't blame ya though. Rarity nodded in excitement and said "I know we just went to the crevasse, but I feel like I barely scratched the surface with my gratitude for all you do." Don't be purposely trying to take Spike away from Gabby because that's just selfish and cruel.

Spike took a look at them, but then he realized something. He said "Of course I want to go, but now that would be two days in a row we haven't hung out." Does it really matter though? Of course, Gabby quickly fake smiled and said "Are you kidding? It's Power Pony Palooza! You have to go! And, you'll have two things to tell me about!" That is true, but I see Rarity's scheme here and I don't like it. Spike said "Okay. Come on Rarity, let's go!" Both of them walked off and Gabby waved before having a sad look on her face and walking away. Just seeing that breaks my heart. So much for Rarity being the Element of Generosity. Her scheme is the complete polar opposite of that. In case you didn't know already, the opposite of generosity is cruelty and selfishness. That is something none of us are supposed to do regardless of who you may be. God doesn't stand for that and I don't stand for it either. Anyways, after the day was over, I saw Spike come back with a whole crate of stuff and I could tell he was exhausted. I simply watched from the balcony because I didn't want to interrupt anything. And also, this is not my time to strike yet. Believe me. When the time is right, I will expose Rarity for her scheme against Gabby. She won't get away with this forever. That's for sure. Nothing ever escapes me. As long as I have God and the Tree of Harmony telling me what's going on, nothing shall ever slip past me.

Spike sat down on the steps and said "My claws are sore!" I bet they are. I really wish I could have gone, but like I said before, I couldn't because Twilight needs my help and when she wants me to do something, she gives me looks that pretty girls do so that I don't try to back out. Rarity said "Indeed. I had no idea how much walking there is at a Power Pony Convention." Yeah, that's the thing. You have to do a lot of walking. And I mean A LOT. It's an even longer walk than through the entire Atlanta Aquarium. Yeah, that's how much it is. Fortunately, every time I have gone with Twilight, I was able to apply a spell to my paws that would give it longer stamina so that they wouldn't be extremely sore by the end of the day. Anyway, Spike tried to push up the crate wagon, but it was no use. He sighed and said "I know I told Gabby we'd hang out tomorrow, but I might need the whole day to rest." No problem with that. I've done it before. Perfectly understandable. Rarity said "Oh, I know what you mean. Perhaps you could uhhh… just send her another note." I guess. Rarity lifted up the wagon to the top of the stairs and they were both tired.

Spike laughed and said "I think maybe you're right." Yeah, I guess so. But I see what's going on inside Rarity's mind. Speaking of which, she said "Honestly, I might need to spend tomorrow putting my hooves off as well!" I guess so. They both hugged and went their separate ways. I watched Rarity closely with a glare on my face just like Scar did after watching his brother take home his nephew from the Elephant Graveyard. I turned around and headed off to bed. I heard knocking the next morning, but I refused to get up. However, the scepter was having none of it and forced me up anyway. I growled in frustration and headed downstairs. Thankfully, Spike had already gotten the door and it was Rarity. Again. I shot a quick glare at her before I went off to the kitchen to eat some breakfast. I heard Rarity say "I hadn't counted on Power Pony Palooza being so draining, but I thought we might spend the day recuperating together." If you say so. I'm watching you Rarity. I'm watching you. Spike was excited and said "No way! Ogres and Oubliettes?" Wow. I did not expect that. I guess Rarity wants to know how to play. I would join, but I have other work that needs to get done today. I have to plan for our next convention with Equestria's military that we have every three months. Basically, it's quarterly and it happens four times a year.

Thankfully, summer is coming up soon, so Twilight might be able to join me for this one since it's in June and the school would be out for the summer. Usually, Celestia and Luna come out to these conventions, but very rarely would I see Cadence or even Twilight come to these mainly because they're busy all the time. I believe Cadence might have shown up once or twice, and Twilight usually comes once a year in June since there is no school. She would come with me because well, she's a monarch of Equestria too. She's royalty and since they have command over the military, they have to come to this convention. But since her and Cadence have so many other responsibilities, no one forces it on them because I tell them to. I understand what it's like. I'm fortunate enough to make time out of my schedule to attend these quarterly conventions each year, but not every monarch in Equestria right now is so lucky. So, I value it when the opportunity comes around. Anyway, enough about that. Moving on.

Rarity said "Well, I know how much you enjoy it, and this seemed like the perfect opportunity for you to teach me the game." She fluttered her eyes at Spike and he smiled. They both walked in and I went to have my breakfast. After I was done, I was about to head off to my private study in my Fortress of Solitude, but I heard a knock on the door. I opened it and it was Gabby. I said "Oh hi Gabby. How are you doing this morning?" Gabby smiled and said "I'm doing great prince. Thanks for asking. I was wondering, do you know where Spike is?" I said "He's upstairs. Just go down the hall and it will be the fifth door to your left." Gabby said "Thanks. Have a nice day!" I smiled and said "You too." She's such a nice griffon. It's a good thing Gallus has her as a friend otherwise, I have no idea where he might be emotionally. However, I was curious to see what was about to occur. Gabby will see what Rarity's plan was all along. Anywho, Gabby followed my directions and went down the hall but was able to find it quite easily simply from hearing laughter in one of the rooms. She opened the door quietly and heard Rarity say "And Princess Shmarity used her shield of profur to defend herself from the purveyor of poor color coronation." Okay then. I have no idea what that means, but I understand what point they are at in the game. I've played this many times and know what to expect when I see others playing it. It's kinda interesting when you think about it.

Spike rolled the dice and said "She can try… *rolls dice* Success! Shmarity's shield holds up against the green eyed monster's attack, and then-" before Gabby confronted Spike and said "Spike?!" I could tell she was upset. Spike turned around and said "Oh hey Gabby. We were just-" before Gabby yelled in frustration "Your scroll said you were too tired to anything today! But I guess you were just too tired to do anything with me!" That's what it looks like. However, Spike quickly panicked and said "No, no no! That's not true! I can come with you on your rounds right now!" Gabby didn't seem to care and said "I don't think so Spike! Maybe I'll just handle the rounds on my own from now on!" She dropped some sort of can and flew off in anger. Great. Now look at what you've done Rarity. Spike picked up the bottle and stared at it. Rarity said "Ooh, Princess Shmarity uses her prismatic beam to change that poor monster's color to a more praising shade of purple!" However, Spike didn't listen and he was absolutely crushed by what just happened. This is your mess Rarity and I'm not helping you out whatsoever.

I followed Rarity to the fabric shop to see what would happen this time and it was not really that surprising. She said "What do you think Spike?" I don't know. Ask the dang question. "Solids or prints?" I don't care. Just pick one so we can get out of here. Spike sighed and said "Prints I guess. You already have a lot of solid colors." Good grief. His voice sounds worse than how I was as a teenager when I was depressed. Rarity said "Oh, you're so right. Prints it is. So nice to have you back Spike." Yeah, after you basically tore him away from Gabby. I understand you miss spending time with him, but that doesn't give you the excuse to pry them away from another friend. That's just cruel and selfish. Anyway, she put the basket on the counter and Spike walked over to the window. He saw Gabby do a selfie of her by herself, but then had a sad face and threw the photo away. "Although, I hope you're able to reconcile with Gabby." I think you need to apologize first before he can do that. Spike said "I'm pretty sure she doesn't want to." His frown deepened and his scales turned sideways because of how depressed he felt. I watched them go to each of the locations she likes going to, but it just wasn't the same as it used to be. He didn't even do anything and had the same expression on the entire time. Rarity seemed to be concerned, but didn't even bother asking. I headed back to the castle when I saw the two of them enter.

I was helping Twilight take out the trash and I heard Rarity say "I quite enjoyed our day together Spike." Oh really? His expression says otherwise. Twilight noticed Spike go by and said "Hi Spike." He only said "Uh-huh" and just kept walking. Twilight definitely got concerned and said "Hmm. I've never seen Spike this sad before." I sure have. I see that expression on your face Rarity. "Do you know what happened?" I do, but I'm waiting for the right moment. Rarity cleared her throat and said "Yes, well perhaps he's still just tired from Power Pony Palooza." I can sniff the white lie from a million miles away. I gave her a glare and raised a brow. Basically, my glare was saying "I know what you're doing and you can't hide it from me." I believe Rarity knew that I was catching onto what was happening and had figured out her scheme this whole time. Twilight said "I don't think that's it." You would be correct. Rarity said "Well, I suppose… it's possible it could have something to do with *covers her mouth and speaks very quickly* Gabby not wanting to spend time with him anymore." I heard that Rarity.

She nervously smiled and Twilight was surprised. She said "What? I thought the two of them were hanging out all the time!" They were. Until a certain SOMEPONY here pried them both away for her own selfish gain. Rarity said "They were. Honestly, it took everything I had to convince him to spend any time with me at all!" Yeah, but you could have done it differently. "But, between Crystal Gem crevasses, Power Pony conventions, and a marathon game of O and O, I managed to get some time in." Are you seriously bragging right now?! OH YOU DID NOT JUST DO THAT! Twilight looked at me and knew that I was mad, so she spoke up with a glare and said "It sounds you made sure he didn't have any time to spend with Gabby at all." That is true. Rarity quickly denied the accusation and said "What?! *spits out saliva* I certainly did not!" Time to strike. I said "Yes, you did! And don't try to deny it! I've been watching you all this time and quickly saw through your scheme. I know that not having someone close around hurts, but that doesn't give you the excuse to pry someone away from someone else just so that you can spend as much time as you can with them. That is very cruel and selfish. You should know better than to do something so foolish like that." Rarity was about to retort something, but Twilight said "He's right, Rarity. You can't go around doing something like that. That's not being very kind towards others."

Rarity still had her hooves crossed, but we got closer and she said "Well, I… suppose I may have monopolized him a teeny bit." I still had the same glare on my face and I kept pushing towards my death glare. I mean business here. Rarity knew I wasn't playing around. Finally, she sighed and confessed. "I've grown so used to having Spikey-Wikey around. I wasn't prepared for how much I'd miss him when he wasn't." It happens, but there's no excuse to be selfish here. Friendships are going to change. That's a literal fact. There's nothing you can do to stop it. But, that doesn't mean it will fade. If you maintain them, then they should be long lasting. But don't be afraid of losing your friendship just because it changes. As long as you don't mess with it, then you should be fine. Twilight said "Friendships change. But just because Spike made a new friend, doesn't mean he'll stop being yours." Rarity didn't like that and yelled "I know! But now, I have to share him!" Too bad. I could care less. You'll just have to deal with it.

"Which I suppose I'll have to get used to." Yep. No doubt about it. "Right after I fix this mess I've made!" Yeah, you better go fix it. She quickly ran out and Twilight said with a smile "Good talk." After she was gone, there was another lounge chair and Twilight simply laid on it as if she was cursing the world or something. She got up and I teleported that one to her bedroom. I like that one better, but I'm going to give Twilight the nicer one since I actually care about her. I followed Gabby to the post office and I could see the heartbreak written all over her face. I feel so bad for her. Really I do. No sarcasm whatsoever. This is no laughing matter. After Gabby picked up her mail, she opened the door and saw Rarity holding up the record player in the air again which I found to be quite ridiculous, but whatever. Gabby was surprised, but she was still quite upset, so she said "Rarity? Is all this stuff for Spike again?! Wouldn't it just be easier to give it to him and why are you even here?!" I could hear the hurt and anger in her voice and it made me feel that much more sad. Rarity threw the record player away and said "I am here to apologize actually. More to confess." I see. Go on. "And all of this stuff isn't for Spike. It's the evidence against me!" Evidence? Really Rarity? Whatever. Gabby seemed confused and asked "Evidence? For what?" Acts of cruelty and selfishness. Rarity said "For my acts of utter selfishness!" That's basically what it was.

Gabby was still confused and said "I don't understand." I mostly understand, but Rarity needs to give more context. Rarity took some magazines and said "These are the items I used to lure Spike into spending as much time with me as possible!" That's not nearly enough items to justify your items, but enough said. Moving on. Gabby was even more confused and said "They are? You did?" Pretty much. Spike showed up and asked Rarity "Rarity, what are you doing?" What does it look like she's doing, Spike? Rarity said "Well obviously, I'm apologizing to Gabby so the two of you can renew your friendship Spike. Now please, even if you can't forgive me, you simply must forgive- *gasps* SPIKE!" That's the second time in 5 days that Rarity has done that where she was talking to him, but didn't actually acknowledge him until later. Weird. "Oh, I actually owe you an apology too." Yeah, you kinda do. You broke his heart when Gabby didn't want to be his friend anymore.

Gabby seemed annoyed and said "You apologize a lot." It was only like two times Gabby. Geez chillax. Rarity sighed and said "I wish I didn't need to." I don't think any of us do, but we do it when it's necessary. "But the more time you two spend together, the more I miss my time with Spike and the more I used every means at my disposal to get it back. I am truly sorry." I hope so. Gabby seemed unconvinced and Spike walked over to her. He said "You really miss spending time with me?" How could she not? Rarity dropped the magazines and said "Of course!" What did I tell ya? Gabby said "I have to say, after not hanging out with you, I understand why. You're kinda awesome!" Not so loud Gabby. You'll hurt the poor dear's ear. "And I know what it's like to miss that now too." I figured as much. Spike said "So… do you think maybe we could start hanging out again?" I would think so. Gabby said with excitement "Absolutely!" There we go. Spike said "I don't suppose you'd like some company on your rounds right now?" Really Spike? Why the pink on your face? That's supposed to be for Rarity, not Gabby. Whatever. Gabby yelled excitedly "I sure would!" Figures. Rarity said "Wonderful! I can't tell you how pleased I am that the two of you have… *sees them both flying away* reconciled." I smiled and knew that this mission was complete. I noticed that Rarity went back to the gem cave and was talking to herself again. Pinkie tried doing a better job than Applejack was, but eh. It's still a work in progress.

Anyway, Pinkie played hot potato with the gem and said "Sorry. I didn't want to drop another one and wake the bats." That's good to hear, but that's what the basket is for. Rarity came over and said "Darling, catching the gems is what the basket is for." That is true. Spike said "Wow. You two need to be a lot quieter." He had his flashlight on his head and came down with a backpack-like basket. Rarity was happy to see him and said "Spike! How wonderful to see you!" I just saw him like five seconds ago. Not really, but it wasn't like I hadn't seen him for five days or something. Anyway, they hugged and Spike said "Gabby and I had a great day." That's good to hear. Nice that things are going well again. "But I'll always still want my Rarity time." You see Rarity? Spike isn't going to be taken away from you. Sure, he might have another friend, but that doesn't mean your friendship to him is any less important. Rarity mined a gem and she put it in the basket. That's how you do it Pinkie. Speaking of which, Pinkie hung upside down like a bat and said loudly "Ohh, so that's how it works." I wouldn't have said that.

As if the bats were on my command, they all woke up and started charging through the cave and they were mad. Of course, they probably weren't very happy being woken up during the daytime and decided to show their anger towards these ponies. I quickly sneaked away and went back to the castle. I looked outside Ponyville on the balcony and saw all the lights turn off. That's my cue to go to bed. But before I could turn around, a certain purple alicorn stopped me. I said "Is there something you need, Twilight?" Instead of responding, Twilight simply pulled me in and kissed me passionately. I was surprised, but then I returned it. After a bit, we pulled away and I smirked. "Well, I guess someone needs attention." Twilight said "I'm lonely. I need some love from my handsome prince." I laughed a bit and said "Well then, my beautiful princess, I'll give you some love. We just need a change of scenery here." I took Twilight to her "royal" quarters and we went to go do a makeout session. Anyway, this has been an interesting day. Hopefully Rarity learned her lesson and won't try to do something like this again.

AN: I'm sorry this chapter came out later than expected. I was at a car tour with my dad and uncle on Saturday where we saw a bunch of REALLY old cars and stopped by a bunch of restoration shops on this 67 mile road trip. We also stopped for ice cream and had a nice dinner. The event was really amazing and I got to ride in a '63 Chevrolet Corvair convertible. Now there's something GM doesn't make anymore. Probably the classic car I would want most is a late 70's Pontiac Trans AM. Yeah, I saw one that was blue and it was really cool. All that aside, it was a fun event and left me kinda tired. So I needed some time to rest. But I'm back now. Honestly, this episode just seems like a copy and paste of Season 5 Episode 7 "Make New Friends But Keep Discord." It's the exact same thing, but just a different set of characters and a different setting. That's what I think of it. If you think something different, let me know. Hope you enjoyed the chapter!

Next Chapter: Changing of the guard! When Zachary and Twilight get ready to take the throne in Canterlot, they hand Starlight the Headmare job. Starlight wants to have someone help her run the school, so Zachary suggests she looks to find someone to replace his job. Starlight begins looking, but after hearing the news, Trixie assumes the role is hers and thinks that Starlight created the job for her. Starlight doesn't do anything about it until it gets so bad, it all boils over and she says some things to Trixie that she regrets. Twilight sits down and has a talk with her about job finding and not every pony is right for every job. Will Starlight be able to take Twilight's advice, or will her relationship with Trixie be too far gone?

Until then, my fellow readers
