Code Geass: Resurrection Snippets
Disclaimer: Code Geass isn't mine.
A/N: I'm going to write snippets of the immortal duo's adventures (or misadventures) during the two years of Lelouch's blank stages (while C.C. was trying to look for a gate to the World of C) and after the end of the movie.
Chapter 1
The night was cold and young, and the evacuees who left Zilkhistan took a night's refuge after walking some kilometers to escape their fallen city. People had set up their tents and shelters to camp at the heart of the desert. It was once and for all filled with the buzzing noise of the people who had asked for its accommodation. Men, women, children, and the elderlies, they all tried to find a comfortable spot somewhere. Just for tonight.
Some families were able to seize a few lumbers back home, which was why several bonfires were lit in the darkness of the night.
Lelouch looked at the stream of refugees outwardly having fun despite their uncomfortable set-up.
'Are you hungry?'
He lifted his head to see C.C. opening their enormous travel bag. She pulled out a huge French bread inside and a thermos can with some tea in it.
'We don't have some spare tea cups. I only brought one. You're going to use the thermos cover. Don't complain,' she said while pouring hot tea.
Lelouch smiled. He never tried drinking from a thermos cover before.
'Itadakimasu,' he said, gulped the tea in one go, and ended up choking.
The witch looked at him with deadpan eyes.
'Idiot.'
C.C. held up the thermos.
'I got this from India. Preserves the water hot or cold, depends.'
Lelouch cracked a small laugh.
'Well, were you always like this?'
He stretched out his hand with the thermos cover to ask for more.
'Were you always like this what?' C.C. said while serving him another cupful of green tea.
'Like a … mom.'
'Huuuuh?'
Lelouch started to adopt a silly sense of humor after the resurrection. Although C.C. had no idea why. Also, she's noticed how he's become really observant of the group of refugees they were with on this exodus. He kept on averting his eyes from family of refugee to another.
'Umi*I'm hungry…' said a little voice.
*mom in Arabic
'Shhh, maybe we'll reach a near town tomorrow. Mom will try to get some food there,'
Hunger and poverty. These are the remnants of the war that Shamna and her Zilkhistan armies had left. Well, to be fair, it's not like Shamna's the only one who instigated war among the nations. It's been there since the beginning of all things as far as she can remember. C.C. never saw the world without it. At least, when she's not surrounded by the marble pillars of the royalties she's been with.
Lelouch stood and delved inside the content of their travel bag. After a few seconds, he pulled out another French bread and parted it into half. He walked towards the direction of the child and his mother, all the while offering a smile that made the latter blush.
The child's face instantly lit up, a big smile plastered on his face. At first, the mother was hesitant to get his offering.
'Please, it's for your son. We still have a few goods left to last for a few days. Take it,' Lelouch said.
The mother couldn't contain how much she wanted to thank him, tears started to flow from her eyes. For a piece of bread.
Well, a piece of bread can sometimes mean more than all the jewels in the world combined, especially for a hungry stomach.
'Shukran* onii-san!' the little boy said.
*thank you in Arabic
Lelouch returned to their post.
'Well, that was supposed to be for tomorrow's breakfast,' C.C. said while offering him another cupful of tea.
'Was it?'
Lelouch smiled as he drank his tea from the thermos cup.
'Your tea surprisingly tastes good,' he said.
'I know.'
