Technique Pour Voir L'avenir
"Ne, Kakashi-sensei!" Naruto called out exuberantly. "What did the old man call us all here for?" he asked, confused why all the genin teams that they graduated with were gathered in this room.
"Naruto! Show some respect!" Sakura chided from her spot between him and Sasuke while the latter just threw him an annoyed look.
"Huh? Respect for what?" he replied, confused at her words.
"For the Hokage!" she nearly yelled, her temper rising at her teammate's dumb questions.
Naruto opted to stay quiet and refrain from voicing his confusion anymore as he saw Sakura get angrier. Meanwhile, he also forgot that Kakashi still hadn't answered his question.
It was after a few more moments of Naruto looking around while bored and observing the other genin that the doors finally creaked open and the aged Third Hokage walked in. Everyone's heads and attention turned towards the back wall where all the jonin sensei were standing and the clamour in the room instantly died down as they saw the most powerful man in the village – no, country – walk in.
A thick, tense silence prevailed as Hiruzen's footsteps echoed through the room when he walked up to the front. He stopped at the very front where there lay a crystal ball the size of an adult human's head. The Hokage turned around to face the twelve genin that looked at him apprehensively and finally spoke.
"What you are about to see today," he said in a serious tone, "is the result of a jutsu that was lost since the Shodaime and the Nidaime Hokages' time." His voice penetrated into the hearts of the genin and even the jonin, making them realize once more why he was the Hokage and they weren't. "It was only a few months ago that it was discovered. After a long process of studying and understanding it, the jutsu was finally recreated."
"What is the jutsu, Hokage-sama?" Ino asked curiously from her spot among Team 10.
"This jutsu is different from the usual ninjutsu and genjutsu you might have learned about or encountered yet. This jutsu is one that uses chakra in a unique way and shows you the future," he announced.
"EH!?" The entire room clamoured up as they heard the Hokage. The future!? What a powerful technique it could be! Hell, this might even win them wars!
"Although, like all things, there's a condition to it," the Third Hokage's following words calmed everyone down. Of course... There was never anything free in the world.
"What conditions, Jiji?" Naruto asked the question that was on everyone's minds. Sakura's temper flared at the blatant show of disrespect, but she decided to take it out on him later. No point drawing more attention to them now.
"The condition is that the jutsu can only be used to view the future of a single person at a time, and it only shows the important moments of that person's life. It needs to be performed again to see someone else's future," the Hokage said.
"Oh! Well, can't we just start the jutsu again once it's over?" Naruto asked once more, surprising some people with his clever question.
"It's possible," Hiruzen said, yet no one relaxed. They all sensed a 'but' coming. "However, I am the only one that knows and understands how to do this technique, and the amount of chakra it takes will drain me for an entire week." Dammit! Why did they expect anything better?
"So we're about to see someone's future today? Why call all of us then?" Choji voiced his question while Ino also nodded.
"I will be using this jutsu to show one person's future each week for as long as I can, although I need you all to be present so that any disasters that you all may see in the visions may be avoided," Hiruzen said.
"I see," Kakashi said from the back as this was new information to him also. As all eyes turned to him, he asked, "so Hokage-sama, if I'm not wrong, this is your first time attempting this jutsu and you'd like to see the genins' future since that way we will be able to potentially see more of the future than if someone older was to do it, correct?" he asked, making an extremely accurate deduction.
The Hokage chuckled as he nodded. "Sharp as ever, Kakashi," he said with a smile. "You are absolutely correct." Kakashi nodded his thanks with his trademark Eye Smile™ as the Hokage continued. "Normally, this would be confidential, however, we cannot risk such precious knowledge of the future only remaining in a few people's memories. I apologize to everyone, but this is why I will have to show it to everyone," he said.
Seeing as there were no qualms from anyone present, the Third Hokage smiled slightly at the maturity of the genin and continued with the process. "First, we shall call the rookie of this year, Sasuke Uchiha," he announced as his eyes fell on a very eager Sasuke.
In truth, selecting Sasuke because he was the rookie of the year was just an excuse. The Hokage wanted to pick Naruto first because of his status as a jinchuuriki, and then Sasuke because of his suspicious behaviour that held potential to desert the village merely for power. But to not have anyone questioning why he picked a seemingly 'deadlast as the first person to view the future of, he picked Sasuke with the intention of picking Naruto next stating 'teammates' as a reason.
Hiruzen wondered what they would all see as he observed Sasuke's face and his manic behaviour as the onyx-eyed genin stood up and walked towards him.
"Before we begin, I need everyone to know: No matter what you see here, this is only the way the future would look without changing anything! This means it is only a possibility! Nothing is set in stone, and the very reason that you are seeing this is so that you have a chance to prevent any tragedies that you see from occurring," the Hokage gave a stern warning to everyone in the room.
"Hokage-sama?" Shikamaru spoke up this time with his usual lazy drawl.
"Yes, Shikamaru-kun?"
"What you mean is what we see here is the way things would be if we were to not see the future, correct?" he asked, making sure he was understanding correctly.
"That is correct," Hiruzen answered, and the little genius acknowledged his answer with a grateful nod.
"Are you ready Sasuke?" he asked the Uchiha.
"Yes, Hokage-sama," Sasuke said, trying – and failing – to not sound like a psychopath.
"Very well. Let us begin," the Hokage said as he started going through a long string of hand seals.
Little did the Hokage know... He had made a mistake when deciphering the old handwriting of his sensei. It wasn't a big mistake; just a small one where he had chosen the wrong hand-seal to make at the twenty-seventh place. But that mistake changed the future that they would see from the normal future to the worst possible future outcome.
"Yin-Yang Release: Six Paths Divine Foresight Jutsu!" Hiruzen said as he felt a massive amount of his chakra being drained.
Almost immediately as the Hokage executed the technique, the large crystal ball in front of him started glowing like a star before projecting a circular image directly into the air above it.
"Woah..." murmurs of awe escaped both, genin and jonin alike as a video started to play.
Give me ideas on what the worst possible outcome of the Narutoverse could look like! I have a vague idea of what I wanna show until the moment that Sasuke leaves the village, but I need more ideas from you guys about how much could go wrong in this universe.
