New fic, honestly I have so many new ideas but I'm going to wait before posting new ones and finish what I have. This one is an idea that had for a while since an old fic that got deleted that had Naruto as Blake's father. Which got me thinking about this idea but it was only recently that I had gotten to iron out the idea thanks to a few people who I got to know over the years. So thanks to Tachyon99 and Spacecore94.
So sit back, relax and enjoy
Chapter 1:The beginning
(Someplace in the middle of Mistral)
The sun had just started to rise in the east, over a distant village that was in some remote part of the kingdom of Mistral. The light peered through the blinds of the village inn, where two people slept. One male and one female, who pulled the majority of the cover over to her side, laid on the bed. The one who was facing the window groaned as the light hit his eyes, he lifted his hands to cover his face. With a groan, he tried to go back to sleep but soon the alarm went off on his scroll.
"Fuck~…" he groaned as he turned off the alarm. He sat up, making sure not to wake up his female friend that was sleeping in his bed. Walking to the bathroom as he tiptoed around the mess that he and his lady friend had created last night, both his and her clothes were thrown all around the room. He was impressed that her black bra got stuck on the light fixture, but ignoring that as he passed by his bag, grabbing his toothbrush and some toothpaste.
In the bathroom, the man looked at himself in the mirror. He smiled lightly as looked at his reflections. The male was blond hair with spiky hair and bright blue eyes, he had tanned skin but the odd thing was the three whisker marks on his face. His name was Naruto Uzumaki and despite how he looks, he was a lot older than he looked, but that was a story for another day. Quickly turning on the water and brushing his teeth, splashing water on his face. As he left the bathroom someone had knocked on the door, quickly as he could, he walked up and opened the door a bit. Not all the way, since he was still naked and rather not flash whoever was on the other side.
"Oh, I'm sorry for bothering you," A young girl said, she was rather a short thing looked to be still in her teens, he vaguely recalled her being the manning the front desk when he arrived yesterday. Her eyes widen slightly as she seemed to notice his bare chest, with a light blush and slight stammer. "I-uh, You said that you wanted a wake-up call at sun up."
"Thank you, miss, I appreciate that," He said as he was about to close the door but the girl held the door open.
"Well, um, breakfast is at 10, if you want I can make you something," He smiled and accepted the offer as he closed the door. Looking towards the bed as he eyed the female sleeping form he sighed and made a decision, he had a job to do, might as well get a head start on it. He quickly put on a grey tunic and black cargo pants: a pair of custom boots that he got made when out on the job. Giving himself once over, as he rolled his shoulders, feeling content as he walked towards a chair that was in the corner of the room that had a navy blue overcoat and a side holster with a black pistol in it. Putting the coat on after he placed the holster on to his right side of his hip. Naruto walked towards the door as he made sure his lady companion was still asleep. Blowing a cheeky kiss as he left the room as quiet as he can since she was probably still tired.
The blond left the building and didn't waste time before rushing out of the village. But despite the time of day quite a few people were already out and working. He politely nodded and smiled at the residents, they were friendly enough except for a few guys who glared at him. He didn't know what he did to piss them off, must have been the whiskers. Leaving the village Naruto followed the path, as he looked at his scroll. The blonde wasn't there for no reason, he was on official business. The village that he was staying in had requested help. Normally, he wouldn't be here for any old reason, so it had to be something big to get him to come to Mistral.
"Let's see, multiple unknown Grimm seemed to have claimed some territory near the mountains. People who enter never return. They seem to be solely focused on a singular area. So that rules out a majority of Grimm, they tend to move and wander," Naruto muttered to himself, "Well, Old Oz gave me something interesting to work with. I hope I can kill whatever this is before the missus wakes up."
With that, he kept walking while keeping an eye on his surroundings, as he whistled a small tune while keeping a steady pace before he made it to the section where he needed to go off the path.
The village, from what he was told, needed to make sure the area was cleared because of some special herbs and fruit that grow in that area. They were sure it was a Grimm, cause if it was bandits then they would have already noticed signs of them. Plus they would have just raided the village since, given their size, it wouldn't have been hard. Naruto sighed as he kept walking while his body relaxed but was still ready to react if need be.
As he walked, he encountered a stray Beowulf which he easily slew as he kept on moving. When he reached the area where the disappearances took place, Naruto's eyes narrowed as he heard a slight rustling from the treetops above him. Flexing his fingers, as he heard something move from the other side, just as quickly as something else near the floor to the right.
'Well, this is interesting, there's multiple Grimm,' Naruto thought, Judging by their speed, they must be smaller than normal Grimm.'
Going through his memory on what kind of Grimms were small, moved in packs, and native to Mistral, Naruto couldn't come up with an answer as to the type of Grimm he was facing.
'I'll have to be careful,' Naruto thought to himself as he kept himself ready to react, 'For all, I know, this could be an unidentified Grimm, which would present a problem for me.'
Naruto's hand went to the sheathed gun he had on his waist… maybe it wasn't a good idea to bring a prototype weapon on a mission like this? Meh, he'll be fine.
"Oh shit!" Naruto cursed as he dodged a lunge and rather sharp claw from… was that a monkey? The Grimm was definitely small, at least compared to a Beowulf, about half the size. It looked like a monkey but it had four arms… or was it four legs? Not to mention it had four eyes. It had bone plating covering its wide forehead and narrow jaw. A bit of bone plating on its upper torso, back, arms, and legs, more so around the hands and feet. Judging by its size and the little armor it had, Naruto was able to determine that the Grimm wasn't made for direct fighting and more ambushing or hit-and-run tactics. He stared at the Grimm as it stared back at him. The Grimm wasn't making a move, which was odd… why move out in the open if…
Naruto's eyes widened a bit as he had to move to the side as another one of the monkey Grimm jumped from his right side lunging at him. That opened the floodgates as two more Grimm came out from the trees from above jumping down hoping to get him. Jumping back, Naruto rolled out of the way as a fifth Grimm came out from behind him slashing at him, thankfully he got out of the way. As he got his footing Naruto kept his eyes on all the monkey Grimm in his field of view, they each stalked him as they growled.
"No wonder no one came back," Naruto commented as he sighed, having already figured out the basic strategy of these Grimm. Due to their size and speed, they were mostly a hit-and-run type Grimm, avoiding direct attacks, using their size and speed to their advantage. Hiding as they attack from multiple angles, eventually wearing their target out before they all pounced and brutally killed their prey. Rather deadly if one isn't prepared or underestimated them. Still, Naruto was on edge since if they were out in the open like this they are planning something.
"AAAARGGG!" A sharp howl came from above him as another monkey Grimm came falling from the treetops. This time Naruto was expecting something, as he quickly unholstered his gun, turned toward the incoming Grimm, and smirked as he pulled the trigger making the Grimm's head explode.
"Oh, I didn't expect that. I might have overdone it with the gunpowder," Naruto stated with a chuckle as he rubbed his head. As the body soon started to smoking, the other monkeys howled in rage as they saw one of them die. Naruto turned as he started hearing more rustling in the trees, realizing there were more of these Grimm in the area. The other five quickly vanished into the tree. With a click of his tongue, Naruto looked at his gun and sighed as he probably brought the wrong weapon for the job. He wanted to test out the new gun he had made, and it worked great but it was a single shot. Great at killing things in one shot but not good against an army of monkey Grimm.
"Glad she's not awake to see this," The blond commented thinking of his partner sleeping back in the room as he discharged the empty bullet casing from his gun, and pulled out another .308 Winchester bullet. The same type of bullets used for hunting larger animals/Grimm, but Naruto wanted to figure out if he can use them in a pistol… which he did but now wasn't the time to be thinking about that. Just then, two monkey Grimms popped out of the bushes, quickly lining up the shot, Naruto fired and killed one Grimm as the bullet left a giant hole in its stomach. The other one didn't falter as it tried to claw Naruto's face but he dodged by swaying to the sides as it passed by his face harmlessly. However, it wasn't fast enough as Naruto grabbed its tail and smashed it into the floor over and over, before stomping on its neck, breaking it.
"Three down…" Naruto muttered as he put another bullet into the gun and wondered if he should just use his semblance to kill the remaining Grimm faster…
Nah
Not worth it.
Besides, he'd rather not use his semblance when it's not needed. Suddenly, two more Grimm tried to attack, one jumping down from above while the other came at him from behind. The blond kept his cool as he jumped to the left as the Grimm from above tried to slash at him before bringing up his gun as he noticed a chance, and fired. The bullet managed to pierce through the Grimm and also hit the other, the first Grimm died but the other… well… it might as well have been dead, given the fact it had lost its leg from the thigh down. Seeing it wasn't dead, Naruto rushed forward and kicked it as it was launched into the forest and out of sight. Removing the casing and reloading, Naruto weighed his options but decided to refrain from shooting the Grimm as it was a waste of a bullet, after all the Grimm was going to die anyway and wouldn't get far.
"That's five, one more that I know of, and who knows how many are left in the forest," Naruto said as he scanned the forest. He killed 5 and he heard a howl from another monkey Grimm so they should be nearby. His eyes kept wandering as he tried to see if he could spot any other Grimm. Hearing a rustling in the bushes from behind, Naruto quickly spun around aiming before his eyes widened, as he ducked with a monkey Grimm flying over him. However it wasn't attacking him, it was thrown at him. Looking at the disappearing corpse as he whistled in a low tone as he looked at the person who threw it.
She had tan skin with dark purple hair that was tied in a long waist-length ponytail and chin-length bangs. She had a slender body and is rather busty, but the most eye-catching thing about her was, ironically her amber eyes plus the two purple cat ears that were on top of her head. She was wearing an orange kimono top, with black tights and black shoes. He then notices she was giving him the look he was very familiar with.
"Yoruichi! You're awake, babe! I thought you'd be asleep a bit longer?" He said with a charming smile as the lady gave him a smirk but the look in her eye didn't disappear.
"I would have but my alarm woke me up… on time. Like it was supposed to do before we headed out together. Like we agreed on," Yoruichi said with a strained voice as she crossed her arms, tapping her bicep with her index finger.
"I wanted to get an early start, and I didn't think the Grimm would have been too hard to deal with. This way, we could have had the whole day to have fun… and of course, get back to Mistral," Naruto explained his action, not really caring about it as he shrugged his shoulders.
"You do realize that the mission also requires us to secure the area and make sure no other Grimm are in the area, right?" She asked as she now was glaring at him.
"Well, it's a good thing I got a head start, and by the looks of it so did you. Great job, I knew I can count on you," Naruto said, making the woman sigh.
"What am I going to do with you?" Yoruichi said as she facepalmed.
The older blond walked up to her as he pulled her close to him, she looked up at him as he said, "You've been saying that ever since we became partners all those years ago," she rolled her eyes at that.
"My point still stands," Yoruichi said, both she and Naruto had been partners since they were in school after they had both been assigned to the same team together, and they've been together ever since. Well, not like that… technically… it was complicated. The purple-haired woman's eyes softened as she laid her head on his chest, "It's good to see you again, Naruto."
"Same, Yoruichi. It's good to see you again," Naruto said, despite them being partners and the closest members of their team, he and Yoruichi didn't see each other often. Their team agreed to go their separate ways a few years after they graduated, each of them pursuing a different path that, unfortunately, led them to go their own ways. They tried to make time for each other but life tends to make things harder for them. Naruto and Yoruichi hadn't seen each other in over 4 years due to him being a traveling huntsman.
So, when they had a chance to do a mission together, they took the chance with no hesitation.
The two enjoyed the moment, she even ignored his hands drifting to her ass. Yoruichi separated, first as she gave him a peck on the lips, "Let's just finish the mission, there probably aren't many Grimm left in the area since I had killed a few of those… what are they called?"
"Don't know, looks to be an Unidentified Grimm. The locals didn't mention anything about it when we questioned them," The blond said as he looked at the spot where the dead Grimm once laid before it disappeared. UG, aka Unidentified Grimm, were rare but not uncommon as there is always a new Grimm seemingly popping up at random. Or rather they are just discovering them due to someone coming back alive after encountering one.
"I don't think they would have told us anyways considering…" Yoruichi left that statement hanging, he knew what was implied. After all, it was something she and him had to deal with daily. They might not look it but the fact is they were what was considered Faunus, humans with animal traits appearing on their bodies. From something as simple as cat eyes or even fox whiskers to antlers or even hoofs. Due to these traits, they were often persecuted because of it, thankfully they didn't deal with it often personally.
"I didn't like the way some of the guys were looking at me."
"Are you sure they weren't checking you out? I know I was," Naruto said jokingly but the flat look his partner gave him said, "stop it." Taking the hint in shutting up about it he sighed, "Anyways, it's a shame we couldn't take a picture for documentation. It would have made things a lot easier if one was still…"
Naruto stopped as he quickly remembered something, walking towards the bush as he grabbed the one monkey Grimm whose leg he shot off. A small smirk appeared on Naruto's face, "Jackpot."
After taking the pictures of the Grimm and killing it, Naruto and Yoruichi surveyed the area as they cleared the forest of any lingering Grimm. Thankfully, there weren't any and they managed to finish the mission just in time for breakfast. They enjoyed the meal before they split, Naruto would have stayed mostly to relax but he didn't like the way some of the males in the village were looking at him and Yoruichi. While he was able to hide in plain sight, his partner was another story.
Best to leave and not cause trouble, which was a shame cause he did think the girl working at the inn was cute. But duty calls, so the partners then spent the rest of their time walking and chit-chatting, as they didn't do much talking the other day. They told each other everything that had happened since their last meeting as they climbed down the mountain. Thankfully, Yoruichi called in a few favors to get a bullhead to pick them up in the clearing, which was odd, all things considered, but they didn't think much of it at the time. So, they just enjoyed each other's company during the trip, which took a few hours, but they had finally landed in Vale by dusk. Well, more specifically the Vale airports.
The two were happy to be on the ground as they thanked the pilot and hopped off the bullhead. Naruto paused as he looked up to see Beacon Academy in the distance. Naruto bit his lip as he felt conflicted about what to do. A long time ago, he and Yoruichi had once been students of Beacon as Team GRYN. They were considered one of the best teams to have come from Beacon, the only team to have been their equals was a team in their year called team STRQ. He smiled as he recalled the memories but it eventually turned bittersweet.
"It's been a long time since you've been here," Yoruichi voiced what he'd been thinking.
Turning towards her as she was standing next to him, they both looked at the school, "I feel old… has it been that long since we were students?" Naruto mumbled, he inhaled deeply and sighed.
"Not that old, Naruto," The dark-skinned Faunus started half-heartedly as the two stared at the beacon, however, the purple-haired Faunus eyed her friend as her face had a conflicted look on her face, "Did you consider the offer?"
A tense silence soon followed after she spoke, Yoruichi looked at Naruto who was looking down as he sighed while rubbing his neck, "I don't think it's a good idea."
"I talked to Ozpin, he said he is more than willing to let you join as a teacher. None of the teachers have a problem with it, Glynda said she is more than willing to help. Even Ironwood called giving you a glowing recommendation."
"And how did he find out about that?" Naruto asked sarcastically as he shook his head from the unpleasant memories. He didn't like thinking about it, as it was years ago, however, it was something he hated thinking about. It was one of the few things that, to this day, made him mad. How things fell apart in just a few moments.
"Naruto-," Yoruichi tried to speak but was cut off.
"Sorry but this isn't exactly something I can just pretend never happened," He argued, his anger coming out unintentionally.
"You're innocent, even Ironwood-,"
"I don't want to discuss this right now," Naruto exclaimed as fully turned towards his partner, who looked at him with clear worry in her eyes. The blond felt uneasy as she stared at him, taking a deep breath, he said, "I think it's best if I go now."
"Wait!" Ignoring what was asked of him, he kept moving just wanting to take a moment to gather his thoughts. He didn't get far as Yoruichi appeared in front of him, blocking his path "You…" She paused, obviously trying to think of what to say to get through to him.
What her partner, her best friend, the one who held her heart, went through… wasn't something she knew just anyone could get past. All she wanted was to help, to help him get his life back on track. Since both of them were alumni of Beacon, maybe having him stay at Beacon can help him remember the good times and move past what happened. Their team did it once before, they can do it again.
"Can you stay in Vale? For now at the very least? We still need to get the team together after all," The female faunus asked her partner. He stood there, his face not showing anything as he kept a stoic expression. They softened at the thought of seeing the other member of their team.
"Yeah, yeah, I can do that," Naruto softly spoke, as he smiled, hiding behind his mask, "Maybe we can get her to relax for once. Like what happened at the dance."
"I would be disappointed if that doesn't happen," The two shared a laugh as they recalled what happened on that day so long ago. They shared a hug and shared a brief kiss, the blond promised to stay in Vale for at least the week and agreed to meet up the next day for lunch with their other teammate. As they separated, Yoruichi whispered, "Please just think about the offer."
With a deep sigh, he nodded, and with a small kiss, he left leaving his partner who watched him leave with a sad smile.
After parting ways with his partner, Naruto walked away, not knowing where to go. Considering the time of day, he decided to get an early dinner. Walking through the streets of Vale was, for the most part, nostalgic. Especially considering how long it's been since he'd personally been inside the city of Vale.
When was the last time he was in Vale? Naruto couldn't remember, and funny enough, he was from the kingdom of Vale but spent more time in Mistral and Atlas. After a few blocks, Naruto knew where he wanted to eat, it was one of his team's favorite spots to eat after a mission.
"Glad to see the place is still around," Naruto said to himself, happy that the place was still up. Walking inside, a young lady in her 20s came up and sat him in an empty booth near the window. After being given a menu, he thanked the girl, as he was glad to see the place still had the same feel. A bit more modern but that was fine. He was, however, sad that the old couple who owned the place seemed to no longer be there. He hoped to at least see them while he was staying in Vale but for now, he decided to look at the menu to see if anything new was added.
As he looked at the menu, the door to the cafe opened as a man with white hair and a cane came inside. He had shaded glass spectacles and a small, purple, cross-shaped pin on the cowl around his neck. His outfit mainly consists of an unzipped black suit over a dark-green, button-up vest, and green shirt. He also wears black trousers shoes and long, dark-green pants. Everyone seemed to stop and look at him before going about their business. The waitress came up to him before he waved her way as he gestured towards the blond.
Naruto didn't notice until the white-haired man walked up to him and spoke to him, "Well, if this isn't a pleasant surprise."
Looking up in surprise, Naruto's eyes widened at the person.
"Professor Ozpin!?" Naruto exclaimed as he got up from his seat and offered his hand towards the older male who took it with a smile, "Well, shouldn't be a surprise that you came considering…"
"Is it wrong to meet up with an old student of mine? Especially one that came from one of the best teams that graduated Beacon?" Ozpin commented with a light smile as both he and Naruto sat down with Ozpin ordering a coffee and Naruto getting some water.
"Still you would be correct in part of the reason why I'm here. How have you been doing?"
"Managing… all things considered," Naruto took a sip of water, trying to ignore the look Ozpin was giving him, "It's not something I like talking about."
"I would imagine," Ozpin said as the waitress came in with the cup of coffee and water. Thanking the woman, the two resumed their talk, "You're a lot stronger than most, even when you first arrived at beacon all those years ago."
"I'm surprised you even noticed me, considering I wasn't that special," Naruto stated as he took a sip of water.
"It easy to get lost in the shuffle but you did manage to catch my attention when you managed to finish the initiation in record time and with the highest kill count at the end of the day. Not to discount your partner, who also did very well, but safe to say, you turned a few heads that day," Ozpin said as he enjoyed his coffee, making Naruto chuckle with a shrug. "Well, considering what your team has accomplished during your time at Beacon, it could have been a preview of things to come. For you and your sister team."
"Oh, yeah trouble seems to always find us wherever we go," Naruto commented with a large smile as he remembered all the shenanigans that had happened in and out of the school halls.
"The 8 of you, certainly were a handful, even if one wasn't willing to participate at times," The headmaster commented. How often they got in trouble or got caught up in something stupid only to get busted out by Ozpin.
"Yeah, funny how things change. Not as young as I used to be," Naruto said.
"'Age is but a number,' some would say," Ozpin said as he gestured towards the waitress to get another refill on his coffee."Which reminds me, if I do recall didn't you get a dog while in Atlas. How's it doing?"
"She's great, she should be arriving in Vale tomorrow? Or the day after?" The last time he was in Atlas, he found a stray puppy in an empty box, feeling bad he took her in and she's been with him ever since. She was being watched by a close friend in Atlas and promised to send her over in an express airship. He'd have to go pick her up, as Naruto felt bad leaving her behind but he was given an important mission that required him leave her with his friend for the time. He couldn't wait to see her.
"Which reminds me, Ozpin, I'm still a bit surprised that you requested me for the mission," Naruto started looking at his older teacher who was casually sipping his fresh cup of java.
"I highly doubt you don't already know my reasons for the mission," Ozpin mentioned, "Besides the fact you're still one of the best huntsmen for extermination missions, you're also one of the few I can entrust to complete a mission promptly. Not to mention, it was a good way to get Yoruichi to stretch her legs and away from Beacon for the time being."
"That explains the bullhead that picked us up," Naruto stated, "This is about the job offer isn't it?"
"Yes and no. While I do want to see how a former student is doing and to ask about your travels, I also want to you a formal offer, however unorthodox the setting," Ozpin said before he asked, "Would you consider joining Beacon Academy as a teacher?"
"I don't think that's a good idea, Ozpin," Naruto spoke unsure about the offer.
"I understand but the offer still stands, I believe your experiences on and off the field will be a great asset to help the future generations. Not to discount your other qualities as a weaponsmith and your brief military experience. If anything, I should be trying harder to get you to become a teacher again," The older professor joked, "However, I can't force you to comply if you're not interested."
With his piece said, the headmaster stood up as he placed the empty coffee cup on the table and left some lien on the table, "This should cover your meal and my coffee. A hotel has already been provided for you in Vale for the duration of your stay, Yoruichi made sure your things were dropped off untouched."
As he walked off, he paused to stare at his former student with a tired look on his face, "I do hope you consider taking the job position, Naruto. Not just for your sake, but because I'm sure there are members of the next generation that could use your expertise and guidance. I do hope you reconsider and know that my door is always open for you even if you decline the job."
With that, he walked out of the cafe leaving Naruto alone once more. The blond sighed as he finished his water as Ozpin's words made him think. About what to do in the future, can he really be a teacher again? He didn't know really, it's been a few years since he taught anyone anything.
"I need a drink," He muttered to himself as he reached for the cafe menu.
Later that day
After a nice meal, paid for by his old headmaster, technically by Beacon, Naruto wanted to go find a place to relax. It was almost midnight, which meant the nightlife had begun. He took a quick trip to his hotel to grab one of his guns, a simple one not his custom one. He was sure that it would cause him trouble if he pulled out a gun that can blow a person's limb off.
It doesn't help that some of the parts weren't exactly legal.
Moving on, as he left his hotel, he asked the staff for a good place to have fun and was directed towards a club in a remote part of town. Normally, he wasn't one for clubs, not anymore anyway, but if he recalled correctly, there was a club that was own by a gang leader who also dealt in information. Considering he had nothing better to do, he might as well find out the word around town is.
Who knows he might enjoy himself.
After trying to get a taxi, to no avail, he decided to walk to the club. Normally, it was unwise to walk into the shady part of town looking like an outsider. Heck, it just unwise in general, but Naruto wasn't concerned, since if he was stopped by someone, he was more than capable of defending himself.
He was given a few weird looks by some of the people in the area, was even stopped by a few streetwalkers but he politely declined, saying he was married or had a girlfriend. The fact he was wearing a fake ring helped, a gift from a long-time friend. He should call her and see how she was doing some time.
It took him about 2 hours to get to the club, and when he arrived within viewing distance of the club he found it strangely empty. This wasn't normal for a supposedly popular club, however, it was completely barren of people, except for the yellow motorcycle parked in the front. Soon, he spotted an actual person, well, to be specific a young girl with a red cloak. She was a fair-skinned girl with black hair that had a gradient as it turned to red at the tips. She had a black, long-sleeved blouse with a high collar and red trim on the sleeves, over which is a black waist cincher with red lacing up the front, and a matching skirt with red lining. She also wears a pair of thick black stockings and black combat boots with red laces, red trims around the top, and red soles.
His mind immediately thought of someone that he had known years ago that wore a similar outfit and similar hood but in white. Part of him wanted to call out to her as she seemed to be looking around for something or someone and because she looked underage, he didn't feel right leaving her alone in this part of town.
Just as he decided to call out to her, the upper window of the club exploded outward as a man flew out and landed right in front of the teen girl. Naruto winced at the landing the guy took, he hoped the guy had some aura or that would not have been a good landing. Not a moment later, another person came jumping out of the broken window and landed a few feet from the red-cloaked girl.
This one was a blond-haired girl, he liked her already, wearing a tan jacket that showed her midriff, a brown belt covered by a pleated brown skirt, a pair of tight black spandex shorts. She also wore a pair of brown, knee-high boots and orange over-the-knee socks, which he loved, the girl had style.
"Yang? Is that you?" The first girl asked.
"Oh, hey sis!" The girl named Yang replied with a smile.
"What are you doing here?" her sister asked, as the girl said, it was a long story.
"Well, I hope you don't mind retelling it?" Naruto figured out now was a perfect time to speak up as his hands were on his hips, a small smirk as he then noticed both girls tense up and stared at him with a visibly worried look on their faces.
He walked towards them as the girls now noticed the older blond, while the partial redhead looked worried cause she and her sister weren't supposed to be out at this time of day. However, the blond's jaw dropped and paled slightly for a different reason. Naruto looked at both of them with a straight face, before looking at the guy on the ground and whistled as he got a good look at the guy. A black eye and bruising were starting to form on the guy's face, judging by how he arrived outside the building he was sure the man's back was also going to bruise up. Looking back at the girls, as he got a good look at them. Naruto noticed the blond was around her late teens and had lilac eyes, and the younger of the two was her facial features and silver eyes.
It was like looking in a mirror. He knew whose kids they were from a single glance but he decided to put that thought aside for the moment. After all, he had to act like a Huntsman at the moment.
"This is rather unprecedented. I was expecting to get a couple of drinks but I honestly didn't expect to find two young ladies out here in the middle of the night. One that has a wicked right hook by the looks of the guy's black eye," said the guy groaned out loud, making both girls gulp, "As a Huntsman, I have a duty to report this, you know."
He watched as the younger girl seemingly went from having a mental breakdown before her eyes widened when he said Huntsman before she went back to having a mental breakdown. Honestly, it was amusing. The other girl, well, she was pale but something told him she wasn't listening.
"But honestly? I don't see the point in calling the police over something like this and giving you girls a record or something. So I'll just let your two go on your way if you promise to go straight home and we can pretend this never happened," Naruto said, as the girls blinked as he said he was letting them go.
"W-wait, you're letting us go?" The younger one asked not believing him.
"Yep," Naruto said popping the P as he did.
"Just like that?" She asked once more as she eyed her strangely quiet sister, who normally would be the one talking for her. Then again if Yang was talking, she would probably get them in more trouble, so maybe it was probably for the best.
"Why not? It's not like I haven't done something like this when I was your age. Besides…" Naruto paused as he wondered if he should tell them he knows their moms…
Probably best not to.
After all, that might make it awkward considering his past with them, "You two look like good kids."
With that, Naruto left to go check on the inside of the club, he still had to check the place out, after all. As he began walking towards the club, Yang for the first time since he spoke up.
"N-Name!" He paused in place as he raised his eyebrow at the girl's voice calling out to him, "W-What's your name?" Yang asked him with a slight stutter and eyes wide, her sister looked at her in surprise, as she never heard her sister act this way.
Naruto for the most part just gave the girl a small smile as he replied, "Naruto Uzumaki."
Just like that, he left to go inside the building, leaving the girls outside. The blond girl had her hand stretched out as her mouth gaped open as she tried to form words but couldn't.
"Yang, are… are you okay?" her sister asked, shocking the girl back to reality.
"I-I um, forget it. I think it's best we go home before mom kills us, Ruby," Yang stated causing her sister, Ruby, to panic as she realized that they were so going to be late going back home, worst when they weren't supposed to be out.
Yang, however, wasn't paying attention, as her eyes glanced back at the club. Her mind was screaming at her to follow after him, yet she couldn't. She quickly grabbed her sister and made her way towards the parked motorcycle before the two left. Each with different thoughts on their mind. What they didn't notice was a black bird and red eyes watching them from a rooftop.
Later on
The Island of Patch was a small island off the coast of Vale. It had small settlements on the island and is a good bit of time from the city of Vale. So, when Ruby and Yang made it home, the sun was already about to rise. Which meant the start of a new day and if they were caught, both girls would be in deep trouble.
Thankfully, Yang and Ruby's home was secluded and you had to follow a special trail to get to it. Which meant the girls can sneakily drive 90% of the way there, get off and walk the rest of the way. After getting Yang's bike into the garage area, the two sisters snuck into the house through the backdoor into the kitchen. They didn't want to turn on the lights, so they were trying not to bump into anything in the dark.
"I think we are in the clear…" Yang whispered as she and Ruby made it to the living room when all of a sudden the lights in the kitchen turned on causing both sisters to scream in surprise, with Ruby jumping onto Yang's arms.
"I don't think so, young ladies!" A female voice called out as they two turned to see a woman that pretty much looked like an older version of Ruby, but her hair was longer and her breasts were visibly larger. She was currently wearing a silky, white robe with it slightly open to show off the black nightie with red lace. This was Summer Rose, Super Mom and huntress extraordinaire, and she looked mad.
"H-hi, mom," Ruby began nervously as Yang chuckled nervously as she rubbed the back of her head.
"You're, um, you're up rather early?" Yang finished, the older woman gave them a look to zipping it.
"Don't even try to talk your way out of this one, Yang Xiao Long," The woman placed her hands on her hips as she scolded the two, "You might be on break but that still gives you no right to sneak out after curfew. Especially when you're going off to Beacon next week!" Making Yang, as well as Ruby, wince.
Yeah, she wasn't happy.
The two were then forced to sit on the living room couch as their mother was busting their chops. Which wasn't common but when it did happen they listened and made no sudden moves.
"So, are you going to explain yourselves?" Summer asked, she had a hunch why they went out, Ruby only really cared about a few things enough to go out without permission. Yang, however, was a different story. She went out often much to the displeasure of herself, her father, and her uncle but didn't want to say anything about it in front of Ruby.
"I… wanted the new Cyber Souls video game. It just came out and they were giving away a special in-game item for the first 50 people. I had to get it!" The 15-year-old explained, making her mom sighed and facepalm at the reason. While Summer never really was one for video games, she still played them as a bonding experience with the girls. The idea of going out at night and waiting for a game seemed… odd to her.
"You got me a copy too, right?" Yang whispered as Ruby gave her a thumbs up, with a swift fist bump and a silent agreement to play it later, the talk resumed.
"So Yang? What about you?" Summer asked.
"Just wanted to have a night out. Ruby wanting that game gave me a reason to do it," The busty teen replied swiftly. It was reasonable, at face-value, if one didn't know about Yang's party girl tendency. However, being the one that raised the girl, Summer knew she was lying. Recently she noticed the 17-year-old had been acting strangely. Being rather quiet, staying in her room for long periods, not paying attention when people were talking. This worried her, part of her was happy she snuck out like how she normally did. But there was this feeling in her gut, that Yang's reason for leaving at night was for a purpose.
"I see…" Summer finally said, she sighed, rubbing her eyes tired from worrying about her daughters being out and the lack of sleep, "Just… go to your rooms. It's too early in the morning to deal with this and I want to get some sleep. I'll deal with your punishments later."
With that, Ruby didn't need another hint as she quickly disappeared.
"What did I say about semblances in the house?" Summer muttered out, she wasn't a strict mother but before she saw Yang leaving for the stairs to her room. Opening up her mouth to call out, pausing as the busty teen left her sight. "Maybe wait for her to settle in a bit."
Yang didn't notice Summer's plight as she wasn't focused as she wanted to get to her room asap. But not to sleep or play the new video game Ruby got in town. Entering her bedroom and closing the door not so gently. She should be happy that Summer was the only adult in the house. Not paying attention Yang got to her bed and leaned down and pulled a small cardboard box. Placing it on her bed and opened it, inside were a few knickknacks, but for Yang, this meant everything to her.
A few days ago, Yang, while preparing to head to Beacon, decided to check the attic for an extra suitcase for her stuff. She accidentally knocked over an old box, when she was picking the things up she noticed a few things. One was a diary, a couple of old photos, some letters, and something that shocked Yang to her core. Her birth certificate.
Only a few people knew this but Summer Rose wasn't Yang's mom. She found out when she was younger when Summer was on a long-term mission and her "father" at work at Signal Academy. So, when she found her birth certificate, she found out two things that day.
Her mom's name…
And her father's.
All her life, the person she assumed to be her dad wasn't. She was filled with so many emotions, rage, confusion, and despair, with one lingering question.
Why?
Why was she left behind? She wanted to go find Taiyang Xiao Long, her so-called "dad" and demand answers from him. Instead, she stayed up in the attic and cried, alone. The only ones in the house were her baby sister, Ruby, and their dog, Zwei.
She didn't recall much after that, as the rest of the day was a blur. All she remembered from that day was the moments leading up to it. It took her a couple of days to process what she'd found out, but she kept to herself and avoided talking to anyone except for small talk while eating. It was only two days ago that she got the courage to go up to the attic again and look through the stuff that was in that box. Looking through it she quickly looked at her birth certificate as she looked at the names of her parents, Raven Branwen and Naruto Uzumaki, her mom and dad.
Yang had so many questions that she wanted answers to, but for the moment, she felt a sense of satisfaction to find out the truth. Just their names was a big step, she kept digging through the box when she noticed that the box belonged to her mother. It felt nice to look through the stuff inside and feel connected to her real mom. She took time to read the diary, from cover to cover in 2 days.
It was, apparently, from her mother's time at Beacon and part of a punishment/therapy, where she had to keep a record of each day. So that's where she got her anger issues from.
Still, the diary told her a lot about her mom, or at least as much as was written anyways.
It was nice to find out how Summer, Tai, and her uncle Qrow were when they were her age. The story of how her uncle was convinced to wear a skirt was funny and how her mom defended her brother and got payback against Tai who was the one who convinced Qrow to wear it. One thing while reading was a name that came up often.
Her dad's.
Truthfully, Yang couldn't get a read on their relationship. At times, they seemed like friends, then next they were rivals, and sometimes, Raven would curse his name like he was an idiot.
As she looked at the photos, most of team STRQ, which made sense, she stopped when saw a single photo of her mom talking to another blond male at a bar. The girl knew instantly, call it a hunch or whatever, but she knew that man in the photo was her father. In a lot of the photos in the box, Raven didn't smile, except for a small handful where she smirked. In that single photo, her mom had a real smile and, by the looks of it, they were enjoying each other's company. From there, Yang had a new goal, to find her real Mom and Dad.
The 17-year-old had already been trying to find out about her mom for years, looking for answers to the many questions. Adding one about her father to the list was a no-brainer. For her, she felt it was going to be a hard task considering she was no closer to finding her mom, with her dad to the mix, that just added to the challenge. That was the actual reason why she went out tonight, as she found out about an info broker who gave information for a price. Which turned out to be a dead-end in its own right, but things looked up when she had unexpectedly run into her dad on the first day of her search.
"Dammit!" Yang exclaimed as she slammed her hands on her bed from frustrations at her cowardice.
"He was right there! Why did I freeze up like an idiot!?" She flopped down on her bed, staring up at her ceiling.
She had failed, the moment that she been waiting for, even if it was for a short time, and Yang wasn't able to take advantage.
"I-I still have time. I don't go to Beacon for a few more days. He said he'd still be in Vale, if I go out, I can still find him. I have to find him."
Yang was broken from her thoughts when a knock on her door drew her attention. Quickly grabbing the cardboard box, Yang hid it underneath her bed just in time for Summer to walk in, "Hey Mom, you need something?"
"Kind of. Yang, is there something bothering you?" Summer asked as she walked into the room and closed the door. Making it clear she wasn't going to leave until they talked. Yang bit her lip but said nothing as Summer sat down on her bed right next to her. "Honey, you've been acting odd the last few weeks. I'm worried since you've never liked this. Did something happen?"
Yang didn't know what to say or do, part of her wanted to just keep silent and pretend nothing was wrong but this was Summer. The woman who helped raise her as a mother despite not being her child. Every time she cried or felt bad, she was there right next to her to help her. She trusted Summer.
'How do I even begin?' Yang wondered for a moment before she spoke, "Summer… I know."
Summer looked confused for a bit, not sure what Yang was even talking about. There were a lot of things she can be referring to but waited for her surrogate daughter to clarify. Yang reached underneath her bed to pull out the box, Summer raised an eyebrow at her actions and hope that there wasn't anything… inappropriate in the box.
Summer knew that Yang was a young lady with certain needs, which was a shock to find when Summer found the young blond's rather extensive search history. However, while she hoped nothing inappropriate was in the box, she wouldn't be surprised if she acquired something and had hidden it in her room.
Well, better than drugs at least.
Thankfully it wasn't, Yang placed the box in between her and Summer; open the box and the older woman's eyes widen a bit.
Summer quickly figured out why Yang had been acting strangely, as she recognized what was in the box. The photos and diary, all belonged to Yang's birth mom and Summer's best friend, Raven Branwen. Yang grabbed her birth certificate and handed it to Summer, whose eyes softened.
"Summer, Tai isn't my dad, is he?" Yang stated as her voice wavered.
"No," The older woman replied softly, maintaining eye contact, "He isn't."
It hurt, even if she knew it to be the truth but to have it confirmed still hurt.
Yang couldn't help but ask. "Why? Why did you guys lie to me? My whole life, I was led to believe a lie! Why?"
Summer sighed as she thought of how to respond, before slowly saying, "Honestly? We had agreed that it would be best to wait to tell you about your real parents. However, none of us could agree on when to tell you."
The three of them, Qrow, Taiyang, and Summer had all agreed that Raven was a touchy subject. Naruto, however, was also a bit of a touchy subject to Tai… and Summer. Both for different reasons.
The two stayed silent as Yang asked the biggest thing she wondered ever since she was a kid, "Why did they leave me?"
Yang couldn't stop the tears from coming out as her emotions were all over the place from everything that happened. From meeting her real father but being unable to confront him to being told the truth about her not being Tai's or Summer's daughter.
Summer brought her into a large hug, rubbing Yang's back as she cried into her shoulder. Her heart went out to her surrogate daughter, as she had been through a lot more than any child should have. All she could do was comfort the girl and try to answer her questions when she calmed down.
"I met him… my dad," Yang spoke up suddenly as Summer's eyes widen in surprise, but the blond teen didn't notice as she continued. "When Ruby and I were out, he was there, wondering why we were out so late."
"I see, what happened?" Summer asked as she wanted to know, not only for Yang's sake but also to know why Naruto was in Vale after all this time?
"Nothing, I tried to talk to him but I froze up. I just… I couldn't even talk to him. I wanted to ask him and tell him who I was but I couldn't do anything," Yang said as she rubbed the tears from her eyes, thankfully she didn't wear make-up as that would have been a mess to clean up, "I just wanted to talk to him."
"Yang, I'm sure you'll get the chance. It's just that things happen for a reason," Summer paused, as she tried to figure out what to say, "I don't know your mom's reasons for leaving. I wish I knew so I could tell you, but she's a hard person to figure out. I still, despite being her best friend, don't fully understand her after all these years. However, I'm sure she had a reason," She hated that her best friend put her own daughter in this position. "The same with your father."
"Summer, what about my dad?" Yang asked her as Summer smiled.
"As for Naruto, you're honestly just like him. He tends to a bit hotheaded when provoked," Summer said as she gave Yang a teasing look that made Yang chuckled, "He is, however, the best guy out there. If you're his friend, he'll do anything in his power to help. He's always kind to others, even when they don't deserve it. I've known him for years and I can honestly say that I'd trust him with my life and he would say the same. He's an amazing guy," Summer finished with a warm smile as she described the type of person Yang's father is.
"He sounds great," Yang spoke out loud as she wants to see her dad again so that she can get to know him as father and daughter. She had so many questions for him.
"He is… he is someone special," Summer said as her eyes glazed over with a sad smile appeared for a brief second and disappeared just as quickly, "If you want I have some stories I can tell you about your mom and dad."
"I'd like that," Yang gave a bright smile.
"Good, now go to sleep. We should at least get some rest before the sun comes up," Summer said as she stood up, which the teen agreed with, after all, she does need her beauty sleep and she still had some things to do before she goes to Beacon.
"Fine, I guess I can wait," Yang said, understanding that it was late and both of them were tired. So, she agreed to wait a bit longer and put the box underneath her bed as Summer walked out of the room. Closing the door, Summer sighed as she reached into one of her robe pockets and leaned against the door. She then pulled out a photo that she had stolen from the box of Ravens things. It was taken at Raven's birthday party when they were still intending Beacon, they wanted to throw a big party but things went wrong so they had a little party in their dorms. The picture was of her and Naruto with Raven who looked annoyed but Summer knew deep down she was enjoying herself. Her eyes kept looking at the solo male in that picture.
"I can't believe your back Naruto," Summer muttered with a longing look, She hoped she could see Naruto in the future, after all, they had a lot to talk about since they last met. Her eyes looked towards Ruby's room, who she knows is awake, playing the new game she bought. Yang had the right to know about her father and so did Ruby.
Making up her mind, Summer promised that later she would tell both of the girls about their father.
Naruto Uzumaki.
Well, took a lot longer to write than I thought it would and longer too. But overall I think it's a good shot. And I planned for a few surprises in this fic that aren't canon, so keep that in mind, that not everything will follow canon. Also, Summer isn't married to Tai in this fic before anyone says anything about that. And before you suggest semblances I already have Naruto's picked out same with Yoruichi. A lot of stuff I'm keeping a surprise, like the pairing, and will be revealed as the fic goes on.
Well, now that's out of the way, thanks for reading and tell me what you think.
And once more, thanks to everyone for reading this chapter.
So until we meet again, farewell
