Dangerous: able to or likely to cause harm

In the wonderful world of Pokémon, dangers aplenty befall trainers annually. Granted it does a job of keeping populations low, however, it turns out parents and guardians aren't a fan of this system so saw fit to change it

When a male or female reach the age of Ten, he or she may embark on their very own Pokémon journey. Or that's how it used to be at least. Murder, theft, kidnapping, rape are just some of the potential horrors that may strike upon young, unsuspecting, naïve, wide eyed, innocent trainers and that's not even scratching upon the dangers of nature let alone Pokémon themselves

So as such, after much complaint from parents seeing their children once more, in body bags mind you, the Pokémon League saw fit to change the system

Now, for one to set out on their very own journey, an arduous criteria must be met first. To begin with, a potential Trainer must be at the age of Sixteen and passed a gruelling test to even receive their Trainers licence. The test being a set of practical and theoretical, set by the various local League institutions including but not limited to: Gyms, Pokémon Centre's, Labs etc. Furthermore, a potential trainer must have at least one fully evolved Pokémon that has also passed a test of Loyalty to the trainer. The rule remained that a trainer may receive a Pokémon from their local League institution on their Tenth birthday, but may not leave on their journey yet. The six years were meant to be spent training the Pokémon up so that in the event of a life or death situation, said Pokémon would be capable of defending their Trainer from any sort of threat and finally, the last requirement is memorising the Pokémon Bingo book

The Pokémon Bingo book. A joint collaboration by the various Regional Professors, that in essence assessed the threat level of a Pokémon and gave it a ranking of E to SS. An E class Pokémon are the Pokémon that are harmless such as Magikarp and Caterpie, the ranking proceeds accordingly getting more and more dangerous at every level, all the way up to SS. The Pokémon with flee on sight orders. Pokémon that are so powerful and dangerous that in the wild, should be avoided at all costs, regardless of status. These Pokémon were ran away from, no questions asked. The only exceptions are Champion's, members of the Elite four and Elite trainers. SS ranked Pokémon were the natural disasters in vertebrae form. The Pokémon in this vaunted class are usually Pseudo Legendaries, legendaries and a select few non-legendaries

The rankings don't just take into account the power of a Pokémon but also their temperament and typical behaviour patterns. After extensive research carried out by the Regional Professors Pokémon like Goodra, Dragonite, Metagross, Garchomp and others that would be tedious to name, are only considered S class, or in Goodra's case A class (the big gooey slime monster is a favourite of children everywhere despite its incredible power. They're still very gentle and kind Pokémon). This shows that to be an SS class, the Pokémon is not only abominably powerful but also outrageously moody. Legendary Pokémon of course are a given of this category due to their rarity, reclusiveness etc, however the Pokémon that are on this list and aren't legendary are the real nightmares

Tyrannitar's, known for their rampages, are SS class due to the fact they will attack, overpower and in all likelihood kill a trainer that is unfortunate enough to run afoul of one in the wild. Another SS Pokémon is Gyarados, as they are notorious for being powerful and particularly atrocious. However, on top of the list, the one Pokémon that, to come across it is akin to being struck by lightning, the most dangerous, vicious, brutal, rampant, wild and whole plethora of synonyms, Pokémon that is on top of the SS class is the Brutal Pokémon: Hydreigon

Not a single person, in the entire world, hasn't heard of the beast. They're feared by all. Even in the wild, a Hydreigon is champion level Pokémon. Without fail

Not a single Trainer has a Hydreigon in their roster. Many of course have tried but it's always ended in tragedy. Lance tried, but had to have his Zweilous euthanised due to its threat to fellow Pokémon and humans, it did after all dismember a poor child who was at least twenty feet away and wasn't even looking at it. It just attacked. Alder, the Unova league champion did at one point own a Hydreigon and at the time, he was on top of the world. However, it got into a fight with a pair Articuno, a fight which ended up killing all three Pokémon and injuring Alder severely in the process. Not matter what Alder tried, his Hydreigon wouldn't listen to him when it caught sight of the pair of Freeze Pokémon

That's not to even mention the amount of times an unsuspecting trainer has ran across a random member of the Hydreigon evolutionary and found themselves scarred in one way or another

Deino, Zweilous and Hydreigon. Many argue that the species should be eradicated. But Pokémon protection laws are in place to stop this, however, the species is limited to there being only a mere twenty allowed to exist at one time, over the entire evolutionary chain. This is of course is only enacted near civilisation, there could be many more off in the uncivilised wilds somewhere, but a Pokémon of this chain is always reported when it is spotted, without fail, anywhere near a route or settlement. When ones presence is detected the Pokédex will alert the trainer and instruct them away from the area while alerting the Champion of the region it was found in. Even unregistered ones, the Pokédex is fine tuned to pick up the energy waves of S or SS class Pokémon and set off an alarm to warn the trainer in the event of coming across one of the Pokémon. Hydreigon has the most precautions set in place

The big takeaway from all of this. Do. Not. Go. Near. A. Hydreigon

Eight year old Ash Ketchum was standing across a clearing from a Deino

The two were unmoving, just staring at one another. One frozen in awe, the other in curiosity. Ash Ketchum, a short tan skinned lad with wild raven locks and auburn eyes, dressed in a maroon tank top, black shorts and black sandals started at the infamous Pokémon

Ash may have only been tutoring with Professor Oak for a few months, but one of the first things he was assigned to do was learn what Pokémon are the most likely to kill you. This Pokémon of course took the top spot

Young Ash was currently in the forested wilds that surrounded Pallet Town. These forests could of course house some very powerful Pokémon, but they were all kept in check by the all encompassing eye of the Legendary ex-champion Professor Oak's Pokémon Alakazam, so the chances of a child coming across one was very slim. Plus most Pokémon are less inclined to hurt a child for various reasons

Deino, Ash believed did not come under this. Not to mention it is a dark type. Alakazam of course probably knew Miracle Eye but for it to be effective, he had to be aware of the Pokémon in the first place. Seeing as Ash hadn't been teleported to the Professor's lab and Professor Oak hadn't sent out his Charizard and Dragonite to deal with the threat, the Deino must be new around here

Looking at the Pokémon, Ash noticed much to his dismay many disparities between this Deino and a regular Deino. Deino, from what Ash knew from his homework on the Pokémon, was usually only two foot seven, or eighty centimetres, tall. This one wasn't. Ash himself was four foot three, a little bit above average for a child his age in terms of height. Deino seemed to have a similar affliction, as instead of the usual eighty centimetres, this Pokémon was easily three foot nine, or one hundred forty four centimetres. This Deino was abnormally big and it seemed it's strength was proportional to its height. Also, instead of having blue scales it had green and instead of having having tufts of red fur in its shaggy chest, it had pink wisps instead

Great. Ash thought, a large Shiny Deino. At least I'll go out in style, morbid humour for an eight year old, but fret not, he got it out of a film

Ash had always been curious about the Deino line. It was like sampling the forbidden fruit to him. In secret he researched the species as well as dragons and dark types. He had hoped that when he went on his journey, he would encounter one. Maybe not capture it, but try and see just why this Pokémon was deemed the most dangerous. After all, feared and dangerous just screams cool to a child

Seeing this Deino, Ash now knew why that was the case. But even still, he felt no fear. Just awe and astonishment. Even though this was a Deino and not it's evolved form, the potential destruction could be felt emanating from the Pokémon

Ash briefly wondered where it could've come from, but he quickly pulled himself from his musings, as in the presence of an apex predator such as this, one does not introspect

The Deino's fringe blew in the wind as a cool summer breeze swept across the clearing. Ash got a look at the Deino's narrow eye's that shone an unruly pearly pink but were also unseeing. Ash had, through a lot of classical conditioning, learned to associate the Deino species as ravenous, wild, beasts that attacked and destroyed like some dammed juggernaut. This Deino displayed none of this. It showed what Ash assumed to be sparks of a quiet intelligence. Or it was satisfied with finding a meal, but Ash preferred the idea of the former. In his lessons Ash had learned that Pokémon were intelligent creatures and not to be taken lightly

In some form of self preservation, and in a play to hopefully satiate his Id, Ash took a small quiet step toward the Pokémon. He reached into his pocket and withdrew an apple. It was supposed to be his lunch, but maybe if he gave it to the Deino, he wouldn't become lunch alongside it. In his Id however he wanted to get closer to the Deino, maybe even touch it because in his eyes, the Pokémon was awe inspiring and he wanted to understand it

The Deino turned to face him, it's short stubby legs shifting the dirt on the ground and picking up dust from the small movement. Simultaneously, human and Pokémon took a single step towards each other

The Deino was looking at the human. He had heard of these creatures from others of his kind. He'd always been curious about them. His odd sizing and colouring made him and outcast to others of his kind that he'd met, that was only limited to his mother and siblings. They looked at him as though he were an abomination, as though he wasn't meant to be. He'd heard that the creatures before him came in all shapes and sizings and colourings yet there was no animosity between them because of it. That sort of existence seemed like a utopia to the small dragon. Not being judged based on his odd looks. Unbeknownst to both the Deino and Ash, this particular Deino was born inherently different from others of his kind. Besides his physical appearance, his mentality was also morphed and that really ostracised him from others of his kind. Where others would hunt he would scavenge. Where others would fight and bite and headbutt, he would lie down to conserve energy. Unknown to Deino, his mutations would become his ultimate blessing in his life

Returning to the present, seeing the snack (read apple), the Deino was curious as to why this human he believed they were called would offer it to him. Ash's hand that held the apple was outstretched to the Deino. In the Deino's experience, food was never shared. A result of living in the wild

Seeing an easy free snack, the Deino slowly, measuredly, began waking towards Ash

Seeing the worlds most notorious killer coming towards him, Ash's breath caught. Being so close to such a, a… Ash couldn't find the words

Deino was mere inches away from Ash's outstretched arm. He sniffed the apple. Or what Ash hoped was the apple and not his hand

The Apple smelled good, like it was picked from the best spot on the tree. A tough place to get to and next to always taken whenever the Deino would try to acquire one for himself. Such a kind offering. The cream of the crop apple is a kind gift. Such rare treats were just that in the Deino's world. Rare. He'd never had the pleasure of trying one of the finer picked fruits, because they were always taken by something, but he had heard others speaking about how delectable they are. Suffice to say the Deino wanted to try one for himself. All he'd known was the bitter fruit that was left over

The Deino opened his mouth. Ash's breath hitched. Deino moved even closer. Ash's eyes shut. The jaws snapped shut and there was a crunch

Feeling no excruciating pain from having his hand bitten off nor the warmth of blood, Ash opened an eye to see the Deino chewing on a large chunk of apple

The others weren't exaggerating, this apple truly was amazing compared to the others he'd tried. It was sweet and juicy, had the perfect crunchy texture

He savoured the apple, eating slowly as to enjoy it more. Ash's heart seemed to have stopped at some point during the encounter as he watched the dangerous Deino slowly chow down on what was meant to be his lunch

Once all that was left was the core the Deino seemed satisfied. A Pokémon's digestive system is a lot more powerful than a humans, meaning that whatever is consumed is not wasted and is converted to nutrition and energy, hence why Pokémon didn't really excrete. If they ate something that didn't agree with them then they vomited it up, because of this Pokémon didn't need to eat a huge amount. Of course it was best for them if they did but in terms of survival gluttony is not necessary

This single apple could last Deino a month or maybe more. Deino had a thought. He'd heard that there were some humans that were kind and fed wild Pokémon when they came across them. If he received a steady stream of these delectable apples from this human then he wouldn't need to worry about food for quite some time, perpetually perhaps. Let it be known that Deino had a mind for business. Knowing this Deino hatched a plan to try and befriend this human and monopolies him

Ash, seeing that the Deino was done with his food, threw away the apple core. The Deino standing a foot away from him didn't mind this and didn't flinch at the sudden movement. For a time, the two stood staring at one another

Ash had read once that when trying to gain a dragons trust and respect, one must be confident foremost. A dragon has no time for cowardice while dark types value bravery, as they are very much aware of their reputations and will only respect someone who does not fear them. Knowing this, Ash put on a brave face and slowly, ever so slowly, lifted his hand up to the Deino's head in an attempt to touch the Deino

Deino saw this and was rather surprised. He'd heard that these humans were frail creatures but deadly smart. Seeing this small looking human try and touch him, while he is well aware of his dark type reputation, is really quite brave. And to also sense the human unyieldingly stare into his eyes whilst he did so was also impressive. Deino decided he liked this human. He also liked his hair, it reminded him of his mother, though aloof she was to him, she was still his mother

Yes Deino decided he liked this human. He moved his head forward to meet Ash's hand halfway

When the two came into contact, Ash noticed how coarse the Pokémon's hair was and unkempt, he believed it could do with some grooming. Deino noticed how warm the humans hand was, it was nice

The old saying goes that when one life meets another, something amazing will happen. Or Ash thought that's how it went, he didn't like that saying all that much as it didn't have any cool sounding big words. But it seemed fitting in this situation

oOo

Over the next two years, in secret, Ash would venture away from his home for a few hours to meet the Deino. His mother pegged it down to Ash being a child still and simply going out to explore and have fun, though she always made sure to tell him to stay away from anything dangerous. She did notice how he took two apple with him now, but she pegged that down to her baby boy getting bigger. If she knew…

Professor Oak noticed how Ash picked up his studies in Pokémon but pegged that down to the boys love of Pokémon and anticipation of his journey. If he knew…

The first three months after their initial meeting, the Ash and Deino duo only had a small rapport. They kept their distance from each other, Ash fed him and Deino allowed Ash to pet him shortly

One day, three months after their meeting, Ash saw Deino doing something he hadn't seen him do before. Train

Deino of course trained. Only a fool would become lax and leave himself open to predators. A wise old Weedle told him that

Ash observer the Deino as he Headbutted a tree repeatedly. However unlike a normal Headbutt there were wisps of pink around the Deino's head when it attacked. Ash realised that Deino was trying to learn Zen Headbutt a psychic type move

As quick as lightning, Ash raced back to the professor's lab to grab a book he'd seen recently. The book was written by Professor Kukui and was all about Pokémon moves. It was an encyclopaedia on every Pokémon move and how they can be taught to what Pokémon can learn them. Swiftly finding Zen Headbutt Ash read up on the move

After having observed Deino attempt to learn the move, he noticed how the psychic energy fizzles out rather quickly and very little of it is produced. Ash deduced that Deino wasn't concentrating enough and wasn't mustering up enough mental power. To amend this the Pokémon must meditate and push their mind outwards, to their head and compact it over the skull

Memorising this, Ash raced back to the clearing he first met Deino in, where Ash assumed he lived, to help Deino and by extension learn more about it

When Ash returned, Deino was still practising. Ash made his presence known and proceeded to coach the Deino on how to advance in learning and usage of Zen Headbutt

It took a few hours but, he learnt. He wasn't quite near mastery, but he could now pull the move off and deal damage with it. This was a turning point in the pairs relationship

Deino realised that this human was a wealth of knowledge just begging to be exploited, not just food anymore. Learning a move in the wild can take months, but this human helped him learn a move in just a few hours. Deino decided that he would form a partnership with this human. He helped him learn moves, he'd help protect and fight for the human. He'd heard some Pokémon did this

While Ash was unaware of the Pokémon's decision, he was marvelling at how quickly Deino learned Zen Headbutt. For a dark type to learn a psychic type move in just a few hours is amazing. Ash realised this Deino could become a truly powerful Pokémon, not just for his given species, but for a Trained Pokémon in general

After that day, Ash coached the Deino on how to become stronger after he made it apparent to Ash that, that is what he wanted. They worked on endurance, speed, strength, moves, everything. They had practise battles with wild Pokémon that were nice enough to humour the pair. These Pokémon were usually ex-trained Pokémon that lived around Pallet town so they were quite capable

At first, Deino didn't really trust Ash to be able to help him in battle. After all he's a weak human who couldn't know much about fighting, could he?

Their first few battles were rocky. Deino won only through his inherent power. But one day, on a whim, Deino listened to a command Ash gave. A ridiculous one in his opinion, which he only listened to so that he could prove his point to the Human, he knew Ash's name but if he would continue to call him by his species named then he would do the same, that he didn't know as much as he thought he knew about battling and should shut up

The pair were in the midst of a battle with a lightning quick Pidgeotto that was giving them the run around. Ash commanded Deino to use Dragon Breath on the ground to launch himself into the air and then use Zen Headbutt when the Pidgeotto, next dive bombed them. Ash quickly saw the pattern in the avian Pokémon's attacks and quickly designed a plan to counter it. He only hoped Deino would listen

When Deino executed the command, both Ash and Deino were surprised. Ash because Deino actually did it and Deino because it worked. The plan went off without a hitch and the thoroughly surprised Pidgeotto was on the receiving end of a powerful Zen Heabutt that launched him into the ground, ending the battle

That worked?! Deino thought

He listened! Ash through

Ow… the Pidgeotto thought, who was sparked out on the ground

A huge beaming smile plastered itself on Ash's face as he raced up to his Deino and engulfed it in a big hug. An action that literally every human alive would not advise Ash to do

Deino was still reeling from the fact that it worked. When he smelt and felt the human embrace him, he was surprised by his boldness, but it wasn't entirely unwelcome. Deino perched his head on Ash's shoulder, an action which showed that he was returning the hug and much more. With this embrace, he accepted Human. Accepted his companionship, friendship and love. Yes he could sense that the Human deeply cared about him. Ash knew it himself and he didn't care about the fact that he was the most dangerous species in the world. This was Ash's Deino and he would do anything for him

With this, their dynamic once more changed and so did Deino. He glowed and transformed. Ash felt a second head and he knew he was now being embraced by and embracing a Zweilous

Meanwhile, the Pidgeotto spectated this, wondering when he'd receive those berries the Human promised after the battle

oOo

Ash turned ten. He would be receiving his first Pokémon today. Officially

Twice Ash will receive a starter. When he turns ten and when he leaves for his journey

During the time in between, Ash could own a maximum of four Pokémon. He could catch a Pokémon from nearby or his family or sponsor could supply him with a second or third or fourth. When a trainer leaves on their journey, they can carry twelve Pokémon due to being experienced enough to take care of this many

Ash's sponsor Professor Oak had a system in place for choosing starters. There were thirteen students that were tutored by Professor Oak along with Ash. The top three had the honour of choosing their Starters from the classic three Kanto titans, Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle. The Professor of course has other Pokémon for other students but they weren't the vaunted three

After much work, Ash, Gary Oak and Leaf Green were the top three students and set to receive the legendary three

Ash arrived at Oaks lab and sat next to his good friend Ritchie, the number four student. The boys were barely able to sit still they were so excited

"So, who ya gonna choose Ash?" Ritchie asked excitably, Ash put on a thoughtful look

"I dunno, I think I'll wait for when I see em'" Ash replied. After having worked with Zweilous for two years now, he learned not to judge a book by its cover. The Titans may be vaunted, but if he felt a better vibe from a Pokémon that isn't one of the three, then he'd take that one

The boys quieted after this as the Lab lobby filled up with the trainer hopefuls and the Professor entered the room

"Good morning everyone!" The Professor beamed at the excited children "today's a major day in each of your lives as you will each be receiving your very first Pokémon, your lifelong friends and partners" the Professor looked each of his students in the eye to gauge their state of minds. There was some worry and anxiousness but it was mostly excitement and anticipation "now I needn't remind you how important today is, I won't bother leathering you all with a speech on responsibilities as I'm sure you all know by now and are way too excited to sit through yet another of my boring lectures. So without further ado, follow me!"

The children almost bounced on the professor's heels as they followed him to the corral

On the way "Hey Ashy-boy! I bet I'll get a better Pokémon than you!" Gary Oak, Ash's rival taunted

"Yeah right Gary, I'll be amazed if a Pokémon even comes near you!" Ash retorted. They began to butt heads until Leaf grabbed both their ears

"Shut up!" She merely told them. She was way too excited to give the both of them a stern talking to, so she limited herself to just that

Being cowed as the duo both wisely listened to Leaf, they resorted to glaring at each other as they continued to follow the Professor

When they entered the corral, that in itself was nothing special as they had all been there multiple times, rolling hills, green grass, a few ponds and lakes, a rocky are and an expansive forest greeted them. What also greeted them though and was the apple of the children's eyes was the assortment of Pokémon sat waiting or playing just outside the Lab

Ash spied the Kanto three, a Nidoran duo, a Magby, an Elekid, a Poliwhirl, a Bellsprout, a Machop, a Geodude, a Cleffa of all things and finally, a distance away from the group of Pokémon was a lone Pikachu who looked to be trying to escape, but was thwarted when Professor Oaks Arcanine stepped in front of it

When the children arrived the Pokémon regarded their future trainers and came over to say hello, except Pikachu who sparked his cheeks at Arcanine whom looked thoroughly amused by the action

Sometimes in a humans perspective a Pokémon has something about them that draws them to it, and this works vice versa for Pokémon

"I'd dare not tarry, so Leaf, Ash, Gary come here!" The Professor called the top three students to him, the trio stepped up in front of the class "you three were the top students in the exams, so you may choose one of the three titans!" The trio beamed "now who's first?"

Ash, ever the gentlemen said "ladies first". Gary looked irritated but resigned himself to letting Leaf go first. Professor Oak and Leaf smiled at the polite boy. Ash blushed at the latter. He may or may not have a small crush on the girl but nobody needed to know that

Leaf stepped forward and looked at the assorted trio of Titans. They looked at her wide eyed and hopeful "Bulbasaur!" She hadn't even needed to deliberate. There was never any question

Professor Oak smiled and handed her the grass types Pokéball letting her take Bulbasaur aside so that she may bond with her

"Me next!" Gary stepped forward. "Squirtle! Your with me!" Gary beamed, he wouldn't have a Pokémon, let alone starter, with a type disadvantage to Ash's. He stepped away to bond with Squirtle

The Charmander that was left looked at Ash. Ash looked back. However Ash noticed that the Charmander's eyes drifted to his left, where Ritchie stood. Seems like Charmander had chosen

Ash knelt down so he was face to face with Charmander, who looked back at him in return "hey little guy, do you like Ritchie?" Ash asked gently, gesturing towards the confused boy. Hesitantly, Charmander slowly nodded

Professor Oak, who knew what was going on frowned but didn't say anything

"Well I guess you can go with him if you want" that caused an uproar. Charmander let out an excited hiss while everyone else was asking why Ash would turn down a Chance train one of the Titans. Nobody turned down a titan let alone Charmander. Unknown to everyone, Ash had his eye on someone else. Ash nodded to Professor Oak who frowned but accepted Ash's decision

Ash smiled at Charmander and gestured to Ritchie, letting him know he can go with him. Charmander cheered and ran up to Ritchie jumping into his arms and hugging him

Ritchie of course was still befuddled but he wouldn't look a gift Ponyta in the mouth. He took Charmander's Pokéball and went off to bond with him alone

Ash looked at the Pokémon that caught his eye. Said Pokémon was still squaring up with the Arcanine. The guts it took to do that stood out to Ash. It reminded him of himself with Deino when they first met

"I choose Pikachu" Ash stated. This shocked everyone further, the Pikachu line isn't exactly notorious for being powerful Pokémon unlike the others present. Hearing its name being called, Pikachu stopped sizing up Arcanine and turned to face the boy who was staring directly at him

"Are you sure Ash? That Pikachu is rather… unruly" the Professor warned but internally he smirked. As he knew

Ash nodded, taking the electric types Pokéball from the Professor and approached the electric mouse. Everyone quickly forgot about Ash, turning their focus back to receiving their own Pokémon

Pikachu continued to stare at the approaching human. A Pokémon's senses are superior to a humans in every way and in ways that humans aren't even aware of

Pikachu, when he first looked at the boy who was approaching, could sense something about him that drew the mouse towards the boy. Of course Pikachu wouldn't act on this and would continue to be standoffish and indignant, but Pikachu would tolerate him for now

"Hey there Pikachu" Ash knelt know and clasped his hands together "I'd like to become friends with you, if that's alright?" Pikachu snorted. Friends? More like servant. Seeing Pikachu's lack of enthusiasm, Ash decided to go elsewhere "say, how about we go somewhere more comfortable for ya?" Ash asked, to which Pikachu nodded. Ash held up the Pokéball belonging to Pikachu "wanna co-" Ash didn't get to finish his sentence before the ball was smacked out of his hands courtesy of Pikachu, who had taken to growling at the ball while sparking his cheeks. Ash sweat dropped and laughed sheepishly "no Pokéball then I guess"

oOo

After informing the Professor of his wish to leave, which he was given permission for along with the rest of his class after they had all received another three empty Pokéball's from the Professor (they wouldn't be receiving their Pokédex's until their official journey started), Ash began to make his way home to introduce his mother to his first official Pokémon. Ash had of course kept Zweilous secret from everyone. After all if anyone found out about him, he'd be taken away in the blink of an eye

When Ash arrived at the quant two story house with a pretty garden and a red roof, Ash entered with Pikachu at his side easily enough. He caught the scent of what was probably his mother cooking lunch. Pikachu seemed to also notice the smell, as he perked up when the scent of food cooking wafting through the air entered his nose

"Mum! I'm home!" Ash announced. Footsteps echoed from the kitchen as Delia Ketchum made herself known. She had auburn hair and eyes and was wearing a pink apron over her clothes. She was smiling at Ash

"Ashy dear! How did it go?" She asked as she approached her son and hugged him. Ash returned the hug happily

"It went great! Meet my new partner Pikachu!" Ash announced as he stepped aside to reveal the electric type that was on the floor looking up at the woman. Delia was a little startled

"Eh… Ash dear, I'm no expert, but I don't believe that that's one of the Titans" she stated evenly, Pikachu looked indignant at that "not to say you're not a great Pokémon Pikachu, I'm just a little surprised is all" Ash smiled. He quickly explained what happened at the Lab, mentioning how he felt towards Pikachu as well. By the end Delia was back to her usual chipper self

She knelt down and stroked Pikachu gently on the head and smiled at him "well it doesn't matter, I'm sure you'll be a great friend to my son!" Pikachu allowed the woman to pet him. He is very much aware of his appeal and will accept the woman's worship

"Yeah, you bet!" Ash agreed

"Now Ash, I have my own surprise for you"

The Ketchum family was rather well off in terms of money. Delia's late husband and Ash's father was a former Regional Champion after all. Delia and Red Ketchum met while they were on their own journeys and fell in love over time and had Ash. Red's death was a result of saving the Kanto region from destruction at the hands of an evil Organisation who used some from of manipulation to force a Lugia to rampage throughout the region a few months after Ash was born. The legendary Red Ketchum, being notorious for being undefeated throughout his career, died leaving behind a widow and a secret child in Ash. Lance stepped in as both Elite Four and Champion and has ran the Region ever since

But that's not the point, Delia herself at one point was quite the trainer. She was a field researcher for Professor Oak at one time. Delia's Pokémon like her are retired. One of her Pokémon had also settled down, with one of Red's surviving Pokémon

Those would be her Gardevoir and Red's Alakazam

From one of her pockets, Delia withdrew a Pokéball and held it out towards Ash

"I won't need to tell you the importance of this, so please do take good care of her" Delia asked. Ash looked very surprised but quickly became serious and nodded. Delia handed Ash the Pokéball and returned to the kitchen so that she could continue cooking lunch

Ash turned to look at Pikachu "looks like we have a new teammate already" throwing up the Pokéball, it burst open with a flash of light

The light took shape of a small childlike humanoid that has a large bowl cut and a shot body.

"Ralts?" She asked curiously as she looked first at Pikachu then up at Ash. Ash stood in awe. He knew of this Ralts. He'd played with her for awhile now and he knew her heritage

Ash made a silent vow to always take care of this Ralts

oOo

Ash, being already acquainted with Ralts, spent most of his time getting to know Pikachu. Ash learned the mouse hated Pokéball's, has a sweet tooth and likes being scratched behind the ears

After lunch, Ash decided that they should meet his first Pokémon friend

Pikachu decided he liked this human, he gave good food, good scratches and didn't put him in that infernal ball contraption, so this human was alright in his book. Ralts was already familiar with Ash and was also very much fond of him. He was the first human she interacted with after all when Ash happened upon the newly hatched Ralts while he was exploring the corral

As Ash led his new partners through the forest towards where Zweilous stayed, the two small Pokémon were having a small chat

'Do you… sense that?' Pikachu asked, being the more experienced of the two

'P-predator' Ralts stuttered in reply

They crossed through some thick bushes and came to a stop in a clearing. Pikachu and Ralts came to a halt either side of Ash. Ash let out a shrill whistle that made Ralts and Pikachu shudder given their proximity to the sound. Ralts' and Pikachu's senses were going haywire, but they didn't know why until they saw something step into the clearing across from them

The the green and black monster with two heads that stood taller than their trainer at five foot six had poor little Ralts and Pikachu frozen in fear

I'd rather face down that Arcanine again! Pikachu internally screamed

I-it's stronger than my father Ralts thought in fear

The Zweilous approached the trio, as a flight or fight response, Pikachu let loose a Thunder Shock attack that connected, but bounced off of the dark dragon, not even making it twitch

The Zweilous turned its heads to the small mouse, then it looked up at Ash almost inquisitively

Ash sheepishly laughed while rubbing the back of his head "yeah… kinda forgot you have that effect on people" Ash picked up Ralts and Pikachu "guys, this here is Zweilous, he was my first Pokémon friend and in the future your partner" Pikachu decided he didn't like this human anymore "anyway we have six years until I'm a trainer! We best get to training if we want to be the best!"

oOo

While Ash was twelve, he was training with his three Pokémon in the clearing where he met Zweilous when he suddenly had a feeling of vertigo

Looking around Ash noticed he was no longer on the ground but up in the air. Ash, having heard, that being swept off the ground in a whoosh of air and a flurry of feathers and talons can really put a primp on ones day and as such, Ash let loose a yelp of surprise

Seeing their trainer being silently taken, Kirlia, Pikachu and Zweilous looked up to see their beloved human in the talons of a Fearow

Seeing this, the Pokémon let loose cry's of rage, but withheld from firing attacks lest they hurt Ash

The Fearow seemed amused by the ground bound Pokémon and did a loop of the clearing so that he could mock them and taunt them

That was his last mistake

Human. Zweilous thought. He'd fed him, nurtured him, taught him, sheltered him, comforted him, cared for him. Him, a dark dragon. Nightmare incarnate. He wouldn't stand for this. Human was his friend and nobody will take him from him. As a wise old Wurmple once told Zweilous, the why we fight is nature, but the what we fight for is a choice

Zweilous once made a vow and a Dragon never breaks a vow

Kirlia and Pikachu, Human. They were his family and he vowed to protect them

And Zweilous roared

The eight foot four tall, nine foot long with a width of eleven feet, green, black and purple Hydreigon that blasted off from the ground, leaving a crater and a blast of air pressure in its wake was upon the unsuspecting Fearow in seconds

In those seconds, he clamped one of his heads down on the birds neck and as gently as he could pulled Ash from the now very dead birds talons. Hydreigon threw the corpse off into the woods as he returned to the ground with Ash in his grasp

To Ash, it was all a blur of movement and then he was back on the floor. Looking around owlishly, Ash took into account a few things. Pikachu, Kirlia, floor, enormous SS class Hydreigon that was looking over him worriedly, grass, trees

What a day Ash thought

oOo

When Zweilous became a Hydreigon, Ash used it as an incentive to up his Pokémon's training. Pokémon gain most of their experience from battle. That's why it took longer than normal for Ash's Pokémon to evolve but evolve they still did. Well Gardevoir and Hydreigon did, Pikachu's happy as he is

The point of the first Pokémon a trainer hopeful receives on their tenth birthday is to become a protector of the trainer and a leader to his or her future Pokémon. These Pokémon are always powerful, regardless of the calibre of trainer. Ash's Pokémon were all exceptions to this rule. Usually a starter at this point is just 'strong'. Not 'powerful' yet. Ash's three Pokémon, through constant practise battling with each other and wild Pokémon, rigorous training and practise were all very powerful. A Hydreigon on its own is powerful enough to taken on a Champions Pokémon, this one had been trained and was a unique specimen of its species. Ash believed that his, his, Hydreigon may be one of the most powerful Pokémon in the region, maybe even world. That's not to say he's omnipotent. At this point, he could be defeated by say Lance's Dragonite or Drake's Salamance. But when Ash turned sixteen and Hydreigon had matured even more. Legandaries beware

Pikachu. Ash could say, with full confidence is the strongest Pikachu on the planet. He's fast, blindingly so. Powerful, absurdly so. Though if they ever came to blows, the winner would be obvious, but even Hydreigon knows to be wary of the mouse. Ash believed that due to his two Pokémon being in constant contact with the incredibly powerful Hydreigon, their levels also skyrocketed hence why they were so strong

Gardevoir is the only Pokémon Hydreigon fears. She is the only Pokémon he knows of that can beat him in battle and had managed to prove it once. That should speak for itself, type advantage aside

Near his thirteenth birthday, Ash and his class took a trip over to Kalos. They had been invited there by Professor Sycamore so that they could observe the newly discovered Mega Evolution in person. Ash of course couldn't take Hydreigon with him as that would mean taking him in a Pokéball and alerting the professor to his existence. Which for now, is a big no no

The trip was very exciting. Ash got to see and meet a lot of foreign Pokémon and while none of them held a candle to Hydreigon's magnificence, they were still impressive. Ash got to observe a trainer a few years older than himself Mega Evolve his Charizard which was incredible to see and as a result Ash decided he wanted to Mega Evolve one of his Pokémon, just like the rest of the class

The highlight of the trip was Ash's new partner. A rough around the edges, aloof Froakie was infamous in the lab for being difficult. He'd had numerous trainers in the past, but he left them one way or another. When he met Ash however, they clicked and the rest was history

oOo

Sixteen. Ash is now sixteen and a soon to be adult as an official Pokémon trainer. The day had finally come. He Hydreigon, Pikachu, Gardevoir and Greninja were finally going to be entering the big bad world

When Ash returned from Kalos, training resumed in earnest with Froakie. Froakie and Hydreigon took a quick liking to each other as the two were both dark type, or will be one in Froakie's case, so they had something in common. That and their love for training

Froakie was quick to become strong and evolve. It was during a practise match with Hydreigon that Frogadier evolved into Greninja and as a result, awakened a power seldom seen for centuries

Their bond, took on a physical form and Greninja changed. When he changed he matched Hydreigon for power and speed. But the current strain on both Ash and Greninja was too much for the pair and they soon fainted. It would be quite a few months after that when Ash and Greninja would finally master their bond through love and trust.

And now, finally, the time had come. The morning of the fateful day passed in a blur. He awoke, ate, showered, dressed, left for the Lab, received extra Pokéball's and his Pokédex, picked up his second 'starter' which was a Honedge. The secondary starters are always more exotic and powerful as the new trainers are better equipped to handle them. Ash had known the Honedge already as he'd helped it settle into the corral while it awaited starter day and finally, Ash fulfilled a promise

Using an Ultra ball he'd bought in Kalos, Ash officially caught his now twelve foot tall Hydreigon

The most dangerous Pokémon in the world. The Brutal Hydreigon, once more was in a trainer's roster. Today, a legend began

oOo

Professor Oak had finally gotten his graduating students out of his greyed hair. He loved what he did but it could be exhausting, especially in his advanced age. He heard a ding from one of his computers

It was one of his students trainer page updating with the capture of a new Pokémon. Curious as to whom could've caught a new Pokémon already, the Professor rose to his feet and walked up to the computer to investigate

It's Ash. Professor Oak was very much aware of how special a trainer Ash is. He seemed to have even more potential than his father and that astounded the Professor. He'd seen Ash and that Greninja's power and Professor Oak believed, with full confidence, that when the years out, Ash will be an Elite four Member. An extremely broad statement on the Professor's part, but if that Greninja was anything to go off, then Ash would make his expectations a reality

Now Professor Oak knew. But it didn't stop the colour draining from his face, his breath hitching and heart stopping when he saw the Pokémon Ash had caught. The Pokémon that was synonymous with Brutality was on the screen staring back at him under the 'newly caught' category on Ash's trainer page

It was fortunate he'd privatised Ash's page or else the league would be teleporting to Pallet en masse if they found out about Ash's new partner. Or should he say old

Forget Elite, more like Champion. The Professor thought as he called our mentally to his Alakazam. Making sure he had both Charizard and Dragonite with him, the aged Oak had his Alakazam zero in on Ash and teleport to him

oOo

Ash bent over to pick up the Pokéball that he'd used to catch Hydreigon in. He heard a popping sound and when he looked up came face to face with Professor Oak's stern visage. Oak raised a single eyebrow

"Eh, I can explain" Ash offered

The professor listened to Ash tell his story of how he met Deino and all events thereafter. Of course the Professor knew but he didn't know the details. Hearing them now truly drove home how special Ash is

"Battle me" the Professor said simply after listening to Ash. The Professor may have known but he needed to be sure. Sure that Ash has Hydreigon under control

Oak may be retired from battling, but he is still one of the most powerful trainers in the world. Withdrawing Dragonite's Pokéball, the Professor released his most powerful friend

Ash was internally panicking. A battle? With the legendary Samuel Oak? No pressure or anything. But Ash also knew what this battle meant. It was his ultimate test, to see if he and Hydreigon could really be a team. Putting on a serious face, Ash faced down the terrifying Dragonite and released Hydreigon

Now it was Professor Oak's turn to panic. Given Hydreigon's uniqueness, it made it even more imposing. The Professor had had the honour of standing amongst legendaries and this Hydreigon's mere presence was on par with them. Oak hoped his Dragonite hadn't become too lax

~Slaves — Hunters~

"Dragonite Flamethrower!" The Professor opened the battle, after Ash and himself walked around the clearing to face each other

Dragonite let loose deep bellow before opening up his maw widely and spewing a gout of flames at the hovering dragon across from him

"Hydreigon, counter with yours!" As Ash's response. All three mouths opened and shot three streams of white hot flames which conjoined into one

The attacks met midway where they swirled into a sphere of flames, which after a moment burst and let loose an explosive blast of heat and fire, severely scorching the clearing. Ash and the Professor had to raise their arms to block the heat wave from hitting their faces

Frowning, the Professor made his next move "Thunder Punch!" Dragonite roared before launching himself at Hydreigon who didn't move in the slightest

When Dragonite was a meter away in a matter of seconds, Ash made his move "catch it, then use Ice Fang!" Hydreigon's right head shot out like a bullet and caught the mighty Dragonite's crackling yellow fist at the wrist. The impact caused a shock wave to ripple through the forest. Hydreigon's other two heads glowed an icy white as they bit down onto Dragonite's neck and shoulder. Dragonite grunted in pain, but he wasn't done just yet. Multiscale took effect

"Thunder!" Was Oak's calm reply. Dragonite's antennae sparked

"Quick Brutal Swing!" Hydreigon snarled, still clinging on to the sparking Dragonite, Hydreigon flipped himself over and began to hover behind the Dragon Pokémon, before resetting its heads by hefting Dragonite up from behind, over his head and slamming the dragon type into the ground belly first

Dragonite grunted in obvious pain, but still unleashed the point blank Thunder attack which engulfed Hydreigon in yellow lightning and made him cry out in pain. When the attack ceased, Hydreigon had smoke rising off of him as he sneered and snarled at Dragonite whom had returned to its original position in front of the Professor

The two seemed to only be getting started. Ash grinned now this is a battle. A thought that was shared by Hydreigon

He's matching Dragonite well enough and he's in full control. The Professor analysed

Ash opened an exchange first this time "Dragon Dance followed by Zen Headbutt!"

"Dragonite! Dragon Dance as well then Dragon rush!" Both dragons began to rapidly spin in midair being coated in green draconian energy as they did. When they stopped, an orange glow surrounded the two signifying the raising of stats

When the glowing faded, both Pokémon adjusted their stance and aimed their heads at their opponent and rocketed themselves at each other. Dragonite became surrounded in a green ethereal Dragon that blanketed the entirety of his side of the clearing while Hydreigon's middle head beamed pink

When the two collided, the shockwave knocked both the Professor and Ash off of their feet and back a few meters. Trees were uprooted and the ground cratered and dust blasted up covering the battlefield and hiding the Pokémon

Ash being much younger and spry than the aged Professor was quicker to react after the violent clash "Now use Hyper Beam!" Hydreigon was able to react to his trainers voice as soon as he heard it and the middle head formed a volatile purple orb in front of its maw. The Professor, who was only just getting up, heard the attack being called but couldn't do anything about it as the air hadn't returned to his lungs yet

Dragonite who was blinded by the dust still while being deafened from the collision, was waiting for a command. He was unable to react when the destructive beam of purple shot out from the cloud and struck him with a resounding boom kicking up even more dust and blasting the Dragonite into the forest, taking out several trees before the attack detonated and created a new clearing

When the dust finally settled, Hydreigon looked fine, as though he hadn't been battling. Dragonite however, who could be seen through the trench that he'd formed while being propelled by the Hyper Beam, looked battered. He had bruises all over him and was scuffed all over. Despite his status and level, that Hyper Beam had nearly finished him just like that after such a short battle

Dragonite rose to his feet, but he didn't look like he'd be moving any time soon

Seeing this, the Professor made a decision and returned the Dragonite

"Just be careful Ash" those were the Professor's parting words as he had Alakazam teleport him back to the lab as quickly as possible to heal his wounded Dragonite

Ash looked around at the aftermath of the short but explosive battle and saw that it was pretty much a scorched crater now. Ash grinned

He returned Hydreigon to his Ultra ball and placed it on his necklace, where he kept Hydreigon's Pokéball. Ash quickly hid the Pokéball under his shirt as he sent out a mental call to Gardevoir who teleported back to the clearing with Pikachu

"Time to go" was all Ash said as he returned Gardevoir and Pikachu climbed atop his shoulder

Ash, dressed in his trainer clothes, a Neon blue plain waterproof jacket with a black zipper, black shorts and thermal leggings with black trainers on, with a black and blue bag and a blue and black hat, began his journey

That's the Chapter. Yep another new story which I may or may not commit to

Fun

For reference on Ash's outfit, think Nate from BW 2

Premise for this story: OP Ash, player Ash. I'll try to be consistent in some way with this

Cheeky Jekyll & Hyde reference in there
