A/N: I've been running this idea through my head for a while now and thought I'd give it a shot... I love Overlord, especially those from Nazarick, but I wanted to try and write an Overlord fanfic that took place in the Overlord Universe but didn't have Nazarick in it... Here is my attempt at that... This was originally going to be my first fanfic to get some practice before doing one of Nazarick, but I ended up getting my practice with FoZ so I never posted this one... If you read my other Overlord fanfic, you will know that there will be more romance/relationship building then actual fighting so keep that in mind... I hope you enjoy it

P.S. I need a break from the heavy angst I have to put up with reading so many GoT fanfics so this fanfiction will be very fluffy. Soulmates, love at first sight, that kind of fluffiness.

P.S.S. (Added this one right before posting): I'm posting this because I had 25k words written for the next chapter of TSBOLAD when my power went out and decided I hadn't saved since the chapter was 10K words long! Yeah, I lost 15k words and its been hard to type all of that again. I posted this because you guys said you wouldn't mind reading this story from me and I've also been working on a very short (like 5 chapter) Overlord story to get my enthusiasm for Overlord back up again. Super rare pairing I'm not sure I've ever seen Ainz/Leinas, but just something short to get my mind back on Overlord without having to retype the 15k words I lost. Trying to remember what I wrote and rewriting it is frustrating and annoying lol. I'm working on it though so hopefully I'll have it up soon. Until then, enjoy this, I really don't have many chapters type and edited to my liking, but I'll probably post another one or two in the coming weeks. Thanks and I hope you enjoy what was going to be my first attempt at a fanfic in the Overlord Universe.

Let's get to Chapter 1!

In the Royal Palace of Hoburns, a woman was sitting at her vanity trying to unwind from the day. One slip up could mean disaster for her, and she had too much at risk to fail now so she always kept her mask in place. It always took a while for the royal mask and act she had to put on every day to fade from her face.

If one were to look, it would seem that Holy Queen Calca Bessarez had it all. She had been the ruler of the Roble Holy Kingdom for almost ten years now. Her reign had been relatively peaceful with only a few demi-human skirmishes every now and then.

She was still very young to have reigned for so long already, still only 24 years old. She was called The Treasure of Roble because of her beauty. Her hair looked like spun gold and her eyes were a very unique shade of blue-green that most called cyan.

She even had some friends which was unusual for a Queen. Her two best friends, the Custodio sisters, were the High Priestess of the Holy Kingdom and Grandmaster of the Paladin Order. Being so close with the two had started some nasty rumors that weren't true but Calca had expected it.

There were still many who opposed her becoming Queen and bypassing her brother. She doubted there would ever be anything she could do to sway those nobles to her side. She should just consider those a lost cause, and it was the main reason she ignored the rumors. If they got too out of hand, she would do something about it, but for now, she would let them gossip. They had little else to do.

All of this would make it seem as though she had a perfect life, but to Calca, her life wasn't near perfect. No matter her beauty, her power, her crown, or her friends, there is one thing Holy Queen Calca Bessarez craved more than anything in this world.

Love.

She had been searching high and low for a man since she was sixteen years old to give her what she always wanted. A man who would not only treat her as a Queen but also as a woman. Someone who could stand beside her during the day as a King, but could lay beside her at night as her husband. Someone to share this burden with, her equal.

She had been dreaming of it for almost ten years now, and she hadn't come close to finding what she has been searching for. She had met plenty of suitors and even those her council had recommended like Empire Jircniv. None of them moved her in any way.

None of them really had stood a chance if she was being honest with herself. She had a very particular look she was looking for. It helped that everyone she met had enough reasons to not consider them.

Jircniv was too full of himself and cared too little for his common people for her liking. He did possess the cunning and intelligence she was looking for but that was the end of her king's similarities.

Prince Barbro and Zanac from the Re-Estize Kingdom were a quick no for her. Prince Zanac looked like he could roll away at any moment, and Prince Barbro seemed as intelligent as a dog in heat. The Re-Estize Kingdom did not have what she was looking for.

If she was looking for someone to have a powerful child with, the Slane Theocracy would be an easy choice as well. They may try to keep their Scripture Units secret, but she knew about them. Unfortunately, most of those powerful men were fanatical followers of the Six.

Calca did worship the Four Great Gods so it wasn't as if she was adverse to a religious husband. She certainly wasn't looking for the kind of devotion someone from the Slane Theocracy had.

She tried to spare as many demi-humans as possible when they had their battles, and she never let any one of her soldiers harm innocent women and children. She was certain any husband worth taking from the Slane Theocracy would rather kill or enslave every demi-human they came across.

She would love to ban slavery altogether, but that would certainly lead to a civil war. She had been lessening the numbers as much as she could over the years, but it still wasn't nearly enough for any significant change.

Other then the nobles of those countries she already listed, there wasn't much to choose from. Someone from the Draconic Kingdom, that disgusting Elf King, or a dwarf certainly weren't going to do. As she said, she had a particular type she was looking for and none of them could meet the description.

The few times in her life she couldn't help but 'relieve' herself at her frustration, she always pictured him. Jet black hair, eyes of swirling colors, slightly tan skin, perfect face, muscled but gentle. She had no idea why, but she always pictured the same man.

She knew it was ridiculous to hold such a high standard. That isn't even considering that someone couldn't have eyes with that many colors. Ten years of dreaming of this man was starting to wear on her though. She was getting close to thinking she was never going to meet him.

She was almost twenty-five and even with her magic helping, she wouldn't remain this beautiful forever. What if she finally met him and she was old and wrinkly? That would be her worst nightmare, maybe even more than never meeting him at all.

She had been praying to the Four Great Gods every night at this very moment for them to bring this man to her. She knew the gods existed since she could use their magic, but they never answered her prayers.

Perhaps it was simply too selfish to ask for what she was asking for, that is why the gods didn't see fit to answer her prayers. Or perhaps, this is not something her gods would do for someone. She knew other gods were worshipped, and if hers existed, perhaps others did as well.

She looked herself in the mirror and saw her mask was finally gone for the day. She squared her shoulders, looked straight ahead, and prayed. What she was praying to would probably be considered blasphemy by her church, but she was getting desperate and was willing to try anything at this point.

"I know it is selfish of me to ask for something like this, and perhaps that is why the gods have seen fit not to answer my prayers but... I must take a chance and ask the universe to send me my equal. I have been asking for him for almost ten years now, and the gods have seen fit to keep me alone. So I pray to any divine entity that may hear me. I want... no, I need someone to share this burden with... someone to love me for who I am at all times... someone to lead this country with me... someone who I have been dreaming of... Please, divine gods... Please bring him to me..."

After she finished her prayer, Calca closed her eyes and bowed her head. She waited for a couple of minutes before she opened her eyes. She didn't know why she was disappointed, it wasn't as if he was magically going to appear in her room.

She sighed and went to get up when she heard a door opening. She looked toward the front door and was about to yell at whoever entered without knocking but saw the door wasn't opening. She looked in the mirror and saw the door to her closet opening. She was frozen for a minute thinking it was an assassin when she saw him step out.

He was tall, probably over six and a half feet tall if she had to guess. He had jet black hair, slightly tanned skin, perfect face and lips, and his eyes were every color of the rainbow.

He was wearing white robes with gold trim. Jewels were adorning various places on the hem of the robes, and a very unique looking rainbow jewel in the chest of the robe. There wasn't much skin showing, but Calca could tell he was strong.

Calca was shocked speechless. Had her prayers really been answered? Before she could even do anything but stare, she heard the most angelic voice say.

"I heard you calling for me..."

If there was one thing that could bring a smile to Sean Taylor's face, it was always Yggdrasil. Growing up in a war-torn and corporate lead United States was not an easy life. You could barely even call it the United States anymore, that is how bad this future was.

They had civil and corporate wars regularly for the last century or so. To explain how bad it had gotten, you only needed to look at his guild. There were only ten members in the guild, just barely more than you needed to be an actual guild, but three of those ten members had been killed in shootings from wars. Three more had died from work accidents, and the other three that weren't him decided they couldn't play the game anymore after losing so many guildmates.

He had been completely alone in this game for over three years now, and now thinking about it finally put a frown on his face. Today was the last day for Yggdrasil. The servers were shutting down at midnight, and he would no longer be able to escape to Yggdrasil.

Yggdrasil had always offered what Sean had wanted his entire life. Something that his country used to stand for... Freedom. Now the only freedom he could get was shutting down. There were plenty of VR games, but none were like Yggdrasil.

The North American servers weren't nearly as populated as the Asian ones, but there were still more than enough players to enjoy yourself in the game. He had made nine pretty good friends in this game that he would never forget.

He usually seemed to be the butt of the jokes, but he never minded. It was usually about how he cared so much for what his armor looked like, or the countless cosmetics he bought and applied to not only himself but the guild base.

The big one was how everyone likes to get on his 'type' of woman. They always said he wanted to date the stereotypical twenty-first-century cheerleader. He thought that was ridiculous since not every cheerleader looked the same, but they always argued that's why they said 'stereotypical'.

He supposed cheerleader type did come to mind when he pictured his dream girl. Long golden blonde hair, blue-green eyes, nice body but also lean, curves but not too many of them. He supposed that was what you would ideally look for in a cheerleader considering the acrobatics they used to do.

He certainly didn't want the 'stereotypical' airhead aspect of a blonde cheerleader though. Being one of the few people who can say they made it past middle school nowadays, he did like to carry on a conversation every once in a while.

His guildmates really took the teasing to another level when they obtained their guild base. It wasn't very large, considering there were only ten of them, they couldn't hope to defend or even conquer a large base.

The one they had gotten only had four floors, they added a fifth during the years of playing, but it was just where the treasury was and the guardians stayed. There were a few other areas down there, but those were the main ones.

Their guild base only came with 500 levels for NPCs, and that was only because of the bonus 200 they received for completing it on the first try. Even being Guild Leader, he still lost the bet they made beforehand and wasn't allowed to create any NPCs.

The deal was, anyone who died didn't get to create NPCs. Unfortunately, he was the only one who died while they cleared it. They took full advantage of mocking him by making every NPC and not a single one had gold-blonde hair or blue-green eyes. It was just made worse since only three NPCs were male and the rest were female.

They only had four level 100 NPCs. They were the last line of defense for the treasury and base if anyone tried to take it. The other hundred levels were spent on a few mid and low-level NPCs (two 35th level, one 25th level, and one 5th level).

The 25th level NPC was in charge of all the guilds defenses and had commander type classes. The two 35th level NPCs were for information gathering and specialized in stealth. The 5th level NPC was in charge of the servant NPCs.

Luckily for them, small guild bases didn't have to worry about using their NPC levels for basic servants as large guild bases did. Every area inside the guild base came with servants when the area was created. You were allowed to pick their race and customize their appearance, but everything else was done automatically by the system.

He was very thankful for that part. If they needed to use their levels for basic NPCs, all the guards would be level 1, there'd be less then a tenth of them, and they would have no levels left for other NPCs.

They only needed to make a manager for all the servants and that was the reason behind the one level 5 NPC they created. They would have loved to make her level 1 and used the other 4 levels to bolster one of the other NPCs, but level 5 was the minimum level needed for the manager of all the servants.

The four level one hundred NPCs were what you would think of when you thought of the perfect party. One tank, one DPS, one arcane caster, and one divine healer. All the NPCs did share one other quality, they were all angelic races.

Every guild member was also an angelic race so it fit with the theme. Everything from a basic Angel to a Fallen Angel to a Seraphim. It is also why they named their guild the Angelic Council. It seemed appropriate considering the ten of them always talked out every decision.

He finally slipped on his VR headset for his last time in Yggdrasil. He was thinking of raiding a small guild and hoping he could get to their treasury. Others might be thinking the same though and he decided to just stick it out at his base for the last moments in the game.

He loaded up Yggdrasil and selected his avatar, Cael. It's probably pretty corny, but it certainly fit was he was going for. He did turn him into a badass angel after all.

For a long time, people thought his build was ridiculous. They could see the merit but didn't think the downsides were worth it. The thing with angelic races was, the racial bonuses for them were that your attack went up like a fighter and if you had caster levels, they also went up.

The downside was, you didn't actually gain the class level so you never got more abilities. He had one Paladin level and one War Priest level for an eternity. He could only smite evil once per day for a long time. He didn't get any bonuses from any class for using his favored weapon, the longbow, even though that is what those classes are made for.

However, he hit just as hard, could cast just as high a tier, and could do everything else a paladin/cleric could do at that level. He just didn't have many abilities and he couldn't do them very often.

That all changed when the update with the flying mechanic came out. He got a new look from the update, and he told everyone, except his guildies, that it was because he had so many racial levels that could fly. He had six wings now instead of two, and it allowed him to fly better than everyone else.

His guildies knew, he actually had unlocked the race Seraphim Emperor. It was only supposed to be in Super-Tier summons, NPCs, and bosses as a possible race, but he had unlocked it. The addition of flight with his ranged smite build helped immensely. He also could now appear with six wings, four wings, two wings, or no wings at all.

He was going for something like Angel of Vengeance or Angel of Retribution, but it seemed as if he didn't have enough class levels to unlock something like that. Playing as a ranged fighter probably didn't help very much. He supposed a longbow didn't exactly bring forth the idea of divine retribution no matter how amazing the longbow was. And his certainly hit like a truck.

The ten levels he put into it were worth the wait. Every level of Seraphim Emperor counted as a level in both of his classes as well as the normal bonuses. So he quickly had enough total class levels for both Paladin and War Priest to unlock Divine Crusader.

After putting levels in that, it unlocked the Paladin class Grey Guard. It was a specialized Paladin class that allowed smite to work on anything he deemed had done wrong. It was pretty awesome because it just meant he could smite anything, not just evil.

It also advanced Paladin spellcasting which is different from a cleric. It only went up to tier 6, but most of the spells were completely different. The big ones that were the same were the cure spells and the fact that raise dead was tier 4 and resurrection was tier 6. Heal was also tier 5 instead of tier 6, but most other Paladin spells were buff spells.

Spells like Holy Weapon, Angelic Armor, Bulwark of Defense, Freedom of Movement, etc...

He ended up with sixty racial levels and only forty total class levels. Doing so many racial levels ended up not allowing enough levels for a unique class that some people earned, but it did unlock an exclusive racial class that he was pretty sure no one else had.

He chose his Guild Leader cosmetic since he was spending his time inside the guild base and decided on no wings. He could put his armor on in an instant if necessary anyway. He logged in where he always did, at the entrance to the treasury. He always logged out inside, but you couldn't load into the treasury.

Right outside the treasury was the four doors to the Guardian's rooms. Ariel and Seraphina have the two rooms on the left while Michael and Angelo have the two rooms on the right. I'm sure you're noticing a theme with the names.

Seraphina's name was easily understood when she stepped out of her door. She had six wings showing, she was a Seraphim Empress. She was the divine spellcaster of the group. She had classes ranging from High Priestess to Holy Saint.

Ariel only made sense because she was indeed an angelic race when she stepped out, but she was a Fallen Angel. Ariel was the DPS of the party, but not in the traditional sense. She attacked with two weapons and could do traps and lockpicking with her ninja classes.

She was made to strike quickly and deal massive damage. It was not meant to be seen coming which is why she had classes like Ninja, Blade Master, Tempest, Shadowdancer, and Thief Acrobat. She would use her movement and Ninja skills like invisibility to attack unknowingly with both her weapons then disappear to do it again.

It was the perfect DPS for their four-man group because of Michael. Michael was a regular angel, unlike Ariel. They never went past Throne for racial levels and instead focused on classes for aggro generation from many sources.

He was the tank, and he was very good at keeping everyone's attention. He had nothing but warrior classes but they all focused on drawing all the aggro he could. Classes ranging from Warrior to Divine Shield.

Michael did it with skills, items, and pure damage output. He not only swung his sword but also attacked with his shield very effectively. He usually looked like a rampaging bull and you couldn't ignore him no matter who else was around.

Angelo was the arcane caster and also a Fallen Angel. Like Michael, he did not possess many racial levels, having never gone past Fallen Cherub. Which he made up for with classes like Archmage, Master of Force, and Divine Magi.

Angelo's high number of spellcasting classes was also the reason he was one of the few NPCs in the entire game that could cast Super-Tier Magic. He didn't know nearly as many as a player would, but the fact he could cast it was enough of a bonus that the number of spells he knew wasn't a big deal.

Now that he had these four, he could head to the defensive bunker and retrieve Yael, Parisa, and Azrael. Yael was the only other male beside Cael, Michael, and Angelo. He was also the defensive commander of the guild.

Parisa and Azrael were two Fallen Angels that gathered intelligence for Yael. Both were Ninjas, Spymasters, and Shadowdancers. They made for the most excellent of intel gatherers. They were also very competent in combat. Anything their level or lower was no match for them. They could even take on things 10 levels higher than them if they worked together.

He uses his guild ring to teleport himself and the four guardians to the bunker room. It was a hidden bunker underneath their practice arena in an area designed as a nature preserve. There were no such things anymore, and this was the closest they could get to it. They teleport directly into the bunker and all three NPCs were waiting right there for him.

He activates his guild ring and teleports all the NPCs to the third floor. This is the floor the rest of the servants live and work on most of the time. He appears right in front of Angelisa. She is the 5th level NPC who oversees the 1st level servants. She is only a level 5 expert, but necessary. He gives the order for her to gather all the servants.

At first, he wasn't going to bring everyone to the throne room, but he wanted everyone to be there for the end. He could have gathered all the NPC guards as well for the Throne Room could hold them all, but that was a little much. All the servants had gathered quickly and he used his guild ring to teleport them all to the throne room.

All the NPCs move to their assigned locations as they have been set. This was always done in case they would have an audience in their base. It never actually happened but it was still programmed into the system.

Cael walked into the office door behind the throne and emerged with a staff in hand. He didn't use staves as he specialized in the longbow, but this was the guild weapon. Cael thought it would be fitting to have it for the end since it had never left its hiding place in the guild office.

The guild staff was a pure white wood staff with seven jewels twisting their way up the staff and stopped at the head of the staff. Each jewel was a different color of the rainbow, and the top of the staff was adorned with a prismatic crystal. It took Cael and his guildies almost a year to farm those jewels.

Cael took his seat on the throne and gave the command for the NPCs to kneel. He looked at the eleven flags flying in the room and got nostalgic for a moment. Their guild flag had taken only moments to create, unlike everyone's personal flags.

The guild flag was a throne with two wings coming out of the sides. A gavel rested at the end of one wing, a sword at the other, and a halo floated just over the throne. The throne was grey, one wing white, the other black, the halo looked to shine gold, and the background was a dark purple color.

Cael brought up his menu and saw there were only thirty seconds left of Yggdrasil. He still couldn't believe it was all ending. He sure would miss the time he got to spend in Yggdrasil. Free to adventure, explorer, or just sit around.

"I will never forget you my friends, but I will miss the freedom more than anything. Here's to hoping for more freedom in the future, my friends."

Cael tilts his staff as if it were a wine glass with a toast. Before he can check the timer again, he hears a faint voice coming from behind the door to the throne room. He gets up quickly and heads for the door hoping maybe one of his friends decided to log on at the last minute.

As he gets closer to the door, the voice becomes very clear. It sounds angelic. As if the woman is singing her words instead of saying them. The voice completely draws him in and as he is reaching for the doorknob, he can clearly hear what she is saying now.

"So I pray to any divine entity that may hear me. I want... no, I need someone to share this burden with... someone to love me for who I am at all times... someone to lead this country with me... someone who I have been dreaming of... Please, divine gods... Please bring him to me..."

Cael opens the door and does not see the office that should be there outside the throne room. Instead, he is looking into a very nice bedroom. A woman is sitting at a vanity, and he stops breathing for a second.

Her looks certainly align with her voice. She looked like a real angel. Long golden blonde hair, perfect curvy but lean body, the most beautiful cyan eyes he had ever seen, and a regal air about her.

When she turns toward him and he can fully take her in, he knows he has to be dreaming because she is perfect. He can tell she is shorter just as he likes. She seems stunned by his appearance but he is sure it is for a completely different reason than he is stunned.

He wonders what she thinks of his appearance. He spent a lot of money on cosmetics until he thought he looked 'cool'. Your hair normally couldn't get this jet black but he paid for it to be like that. He also paid a ton and used a very valuable ore to make his eyes prismatic. He wondered if that might freak her out.

He had no idea why he was having all these thoughts in-game. It seemed his senses were going haywire from the shutdown or something because he can swear that he can smell her from here. She smells like lilacs, roses, and honey. And even though she is a good thirty feet from him, he can see her features as if she is standing right in front of him.

He isn't really sure what to do or say, but she isn't saying anything either. She is just staring at him, as he is her, so he finally says.

"I heard you calling for me..."

It was as if his words had enthralled her for she finally stood from her seat and slowly walked toward him. She wasn't exactly wearing something scandalous but he could see she was in her nightgown. He tried not to stare like a perv, but this woman was hard to look away from.

When she was close enough to reach for, he could tell she was indeed also the perfect height for him. His avatar was just over six feet six inches tall, and she was a good foot shorter than him, maybe a little more than that. Cael guessed she was about five-five or five-six.

Cael was sure she would stop just out of arms reach, but she continued her slow pace forward. Calca raised her hand as she got right in front of him. She was only inches from him when she touched his cheek.

Calca had her thoughts and words taken from her when he first appeared. She thought she was surely dreaming, but when she touched him, it felt all too real to her. She hadn't looked away from his eyes the entire time until she trailed a finger down his cheek and he closed his eyes. It looked to her as if he was relishing her touch as much as she was his presence.

Cael couldn't believe this perfect, angel of a woman was standing before him. Her touch was so soft, he felt like he could live the rest of his life simply like this. His nose didn't fail him earlier either because she did smell like lilacs, roses, and honey.

Then it hit him...

'Wait! Touch! Smell! None of this was in the game! What the hell is going on?!'

He didn't have much time to panic before he felt a very soft body against his and a pair of arms around him. He looked down to see the blonde angel hugging him tightly. He did the only thing he could think of... he hugged her back.

Cael had no idea why but it just seemed right to him. The fact he could touch, feel, and smell her was just a small voice in the back of his mind now holding this woman like this. He has no idea how long they stayed like that until she leaned back and looked at him before saying.

"You came... you really came."

Cael looked down at her and her radiant smile made her look even more beautiful. That look and the fact he could 'feel' her now, had him take a small step back from her. He couldn't tell if she was hurt or confused by his actions but it was better than embarrassing himself.

He didn't want her to think he was fleeing, even if he kind of was. He grabbed her hand and kissed the back of her hand. He could feel the spark when his lips met her hand. He was only momentarily shocked before he said.

"I couldn't resist the pull of that angelic voice. I'm Cael. Cael Taylor."

He never broke eye contact as he introduced himself, and it seemed as if she never looked anywhere but his eyes. The only time he can think she wasn't was when she suddenly hugged him. So it was no surprise she continued to stare into his eyes and said.

"I'm Calca. Calca Bessarez."

"A beautiful name to match you and your voice."

Calca blushed at the praise. It wasn't as if she never heard someone call her beautiful. They called her the Treasure of Roble after all, but it was different when he said it. It wasn't just the sincerity in his voice, it had to also be how ridiculously handsome this man was.

Calca had always heard women say, you dream of the perfect man then try and find as close as you can get in the real world. She had to disagree with some of that, this man was even better than her dreams.

She wasn't sure anyone would be as handsome as her dream king, but he was even better looking in person. She couldn't believe she was thinking this about a man, but he was downright beautiful.

"Handsome and charming, it's like you walked right out of a dream."

She had to let him know he was certainly pleasing to the eye as well. She also wanted to see how he would react with the joke. The aura around them was very intimate and she wanted to see if her change in mood would keep him quick on his feet. He did not disappoint her.

"Perhaps I did, but I'm sure I'm the one who is dreaming."

Cael gave her a grin and Calca's knees almost buckled. No man should be allowed to look that good when smiling. Most would consider that smile as a weapon.

"Oh? What makes you believe you are dreaming?"

"That's easy to answer. A woman like you could only exist in my dreams."

"What kind of woman am I exactly?"

"Not that I mind standing this close to you, but how about we sit down and I'll tell you." Calca nods and they both take a seat in the chairs in her room, directly across from each other, and Cael explains to her exactly what kind of woman he believes she is.

"You are beautiful, funny, intelligent, witty, and from the way you carry yourself, I'd guess you were a Princess. I have a feeling though, you are much more than just a Princess. Based on this room and your regal air. I'd say you are probably a Queen."

Calca was both stunned and blushing. They had barely talked for a minute and this man already figured out she was a Queen. Not to mention every time he flattered her, it made her feel different than any other man had ever made her feel.

"It seems as though you are rather intelligent yourself to figure that out. I am a Queen. The Holy Queen of the Roble Holy Kingdom."

"Holy Queen huh? A divine title to match your divine beauty."

Cael grins at her again, and Calca blushes profusely once more. This man was going to turn her as red as a tomato if he kept up with the flattery. Calca found she didn't mind though. She had been waiting to feel this way about a man for almost ten years.

"You really are quite the charmer aren't you? I'm sure you flatter every woman you meet like this."

"Oh no. I'm usually a bumbling mess around women. It feels natural talking to you though. I'm sure your presence and beauty bring it out of me."

"I find it hard to believe a man as handsome and charming as you has trouble talking to women. I'm sure you have plenty of women throwing themselves at you."

The last thing Calca wanted to hear from him was how many women threw themselves at him, but she couldn't believe he was bad with women. He had charmed her in minutes, there was no way he had trouble talking to women. He did something she didn't think he would though, he laughed.

"No, I've never met a woman who threw herself at me. Even if I did, none were my type anyway. My friends always told me I was too picky."

"And why would they say you were too picky Cael?"

"They always thought it was unrealistic that I would only settle for my dream girl. I never ran into her, so I didn't see the point in trying."

"What does this dream girl look like? If you don't mind me asking."

"I don't mind. You will probably think I'm just flattering you again, but she would look and act just like you do."

"You're right. I would think you are just flattering me."

"Oh I know." he grins again. "but it is true. I've always dreamed of a girl with golden blonde hair, blue-green eyes, a regal air about her, and she had to be short. Does that sound like anyone you know?"

"I could think of someone who matches that description."

It was Calca's turn to grin. Cael loved that smile on her face. It looked mischievous and beautiful. He wished he could see that grin every day if he was being honest with himself.

They started chatting about anything and everything. From their favorite colors to favorite food and everything in between. It wasn't until Calca asked a particular question that he realized something.

"Where are... where are you... from?"

Cael had learned that he was currently in a country called the Roble Holy Kingdom by talking to Calca throughout the night. He knew there were other countries called the Re-Estize Kingdom, Baharuth Empire, Slane Theocracy, and Abelion Hills.

The problem with this information is that he had never heard of any of those places. He still wasn't even sure what the hell was going on. He was definitely in the body of his avatar, but this was unlike any game he could possibly think of.

There was no VR capable of touch, smell, or emotions. It all seemed way too real to him. It was the only conclusion that even made sense, and it made no sense what so ever to him. All of this he could start to figure out soon, but first, he needed to get the tired, blonde-haired Queen to sleep.

He could see she was moments from falling asleep. He had been enjoying their conversation so much, he didn't even realize what time it was or that she was starting to nod off. He probably should have asked, but he couldn't help himself. He moved before she even noticed and scooped her up into his arms.

"What are you..."

"I'm taking you to bed, your majesty." she couldn't see the grin but he couldn't help himself. "It is nearly dawn and a Queen needs her rest so she may best serve her people."

He had made it to her bed when he finished and gently placed her on the bed before drawing the covers over her. He could see she really needs the sleep as she was barely keeping herself awake.

He bent over and kissed her brow before going to step away. She grabbed his hand before he could though, and he saw her staring at him intently. He wondered what she was doing, but it didn't take long for her to say.

"I... I don't want... this night to end."

"Well, I do still have a question of yours to answer. Perhaps, the Holy Queen will allow this undeserving man a chance to answer her question some other night?"

"Tomorrow night at 7... have dinner with me so I know you are real... and... and not some dream I'm having..."

Cael could tell she was about to fall asleep so he set her hand back on the bed, leaned over, and kissed her on the brow once more before whispering in her ear.

"Tomorrow night it is, Calca Bessarez."

He twisted the guild ring on his finger after he said that, and prayed that he would actually appear in the office behind the throne. Much to his relief, that is exactly where he appeared. Now it was time to do what he had been putting off all night.

Freak the fuck out.

He began pacing back and forth in the office trying to wrap his mind around what was going on. The questions he asked his mind just brought up more questions. He was getting nowhere with his thoughts.

'Alright, what the fuck is going on?! I could smell her! Feel her! I feel like I am my avatar! How is this even possible?! There is no way this is some update! The Holy Kingdom?! Slane Theocracy?! The Re-Estize Kingdom?! Where the fuck am I?! Calca can't really be real can she? This is either some super-secret update that they kept incredibly secret, or I really am my avatar somehow.'

The questions kept coming, but the answers were nowhere in sight. That didn't stop him from trying to at least start to get some answers. He needed to go see what was outside of the guild base.

'Oh shit! The guild base! What about the NPCs?! If I have to fight them I'm probably screwed! There's no way I could take out the four level 100 Guardians alone! Fuck it! Gotta deal with it sometime. I wonder if they are still in the throne room?'

He walks toward the door to the throne room and slowly opens the door. He doesn't see anyone, but he hears groups talking. It surprises him that anyone is talking but it does start to answer some of his questions. What the different groups are saying makes him relax a little at least.

"D-Do you think Lord Cael l-left too!"

"W-What if our lord d-doesn't come back!"

"W-Why did our lords all l-leave us!"

Cael had finally heard enough to be comfortable that they weren't going to kill him on sight. He stepped out, right as the door closed, and every pair of eyes in the throne room looked at him. He wanted to gulp at all these people staring at him but he couldn't.

He was too busy taking in everyone's expressions. Yep, expressions. They never had any before. They were just NPCs, almost like robots. He can see real emotion on their faces now and most of them look incredibly relieved.

Before he can even say anything, everyone in the room rushed toward him. He was about to teleport the hell out of there but they all stopped and kneeled before him. It was... it was... there was nothing to compare it to for him.

He was dumbfounded for a minute then his fantasy knowledge kicked in and he realized why they were all still kneeling.

"Rise."

They all stood and looked at him as if he had all the answers. It was a little disheartening since he really had no idea what the hell was going on. Finally, Yael stepped forward and said.

"We are humbled that you have returned to us, Lord Cael. We foolishly believed you left us as the other Supreme Ones did. We pledge to serve your will, now and always."

They didn't kneel this time, but everyone did bow after Yael said that. It was relieving and terrifying at the same time. It was good to know they weren't going to kill him, but he wasn't sure he was the person to be leading them.

Luckily for him, they were all some form of angelic race so none of them required food, at least none of them would starve to death because of him. They had plenty of it since the game required you to keep it stocked. He would have to worry about the workings of the guild base later. There was something much more important to do at the moment.

"Thank you, all of you, for your loyalty. Now, I believe I have a grasp of our situation, but we must gather more information first. Ariel, Parisa, and Azrael step forward."

All three Fallen Angels step forward and await the commands of their Lord.

"I want you three to go outside the palace and scout the area. Parisa and Azrael, I want you two to stick together and go west outside the palace. Ariel, I want you to go east. Scout as much of the area as you can but return after two hours to the command center. If you come across any creatures or beings, do not engage them unless it is unavoidable."

Cael reaches into his inventory and pulls out three rings.

"These are guild rings. If you get into a situation that is too dangerous, I want you to use these rings to come back immediately and report to me. If that does not happen, just use them to come back after your two hours of scouting is over. Do you understand?"

"Yes, Lord Cael!"

All three bow and he hands them each a ring. They took them as if it was the greatest treasure to ever exist, and slid them on their fingers before they disappeared from sight. Now that was over with, time to move on to the next task to be assigned.

"Michael." the angel steps forward. "I want you to also take one of these rings." he reaches into his inventory and pulls out another one. "I want you to go back to the entrance to the treasury and guard it for now. When Ariel, Parisa, and Azrael return, I will summon you to the command center."

"By your will, Lord Cael."

Michael takes the ring and slips it on his finger before also disappearing from sight. On to the next task now.

"Angelo." the Fallen Angel steps forward as Cael retrieves another ring. "I want you to go to the entrance to the palace and guard it against any intruders. Inform me via message immediately if anything tries to breach our perimeter."

"As you command, Lord Cael."

After Angelo disappeared, that just left two people to give orders to.

"Seraphina." the Seraphim Empress steps toward her lord to receive her orders. Cael retrieves another ring and hands it to her before saying. "I want you to take the rest of the residents of the palace to the dining hall and watch over them for now. I want to make sure everyone is protected in case someone gets inside the palace. I will recall you to the command center when everyone has returned if nothing happens inside the palace."

"I shall not fail you, Lord Cael."

Now that just left one more to give orders to.

"Yael." the Angel commander steps forward. "You shall head to the command center and monitor everything from there. We also need to make sure the defenses are up and running as they should be."

"Of course, Lord Cael. Your will shall be done."

"I am going to head to my office to check on a few things myself and then I shall join you in the command center, Yael."

"But my lord! Shouldn't you have a guard as well?! We would be lost if something happened to you, Lord Cael!"

It seemed as though Seraphina was not too keen on leaving Cael alone to his own devices even inside the palace. Cael understood her worry since he overheard everyone's conversations when he returned, but he really needed a moment alone.

"I will only be going to my office then straight to the command center, Seraphina. There is no need to worry so much about me."

"But, my lord..."

Cael held up his hand to stop Seraphina. She really didn't want to worry about losing the last Supreme Being. They wouldn't be able to continue on without him.

"It is alright, Seraphina. I promise to contact you immediately if anything comes up. Alright?"

It looked as if Seraphina was going to object again, but instead, she bowed her head in agreement, opened a Gate, and left with the other servants. Cael sent Yael to the command center then went into his office to try and figure out more of this on his own.

Cael entered his office and slumped down in the chair. He never got to feel how comfortable it was, but it was like sitting on a cloud. He tried to rationalize everything that was happening right now, and he came to a pretty confident conclusion.

He had somehow been teleported to a New World, in the body of his avatar, with all the servants of the palace, and Calca was in fact real. If all the new developments weren't obvious enough that something drastic had happened (NPCs talking, having emotions, touching and smelling things) the fact that he KNEW he had an appendage that no avatar was supposed to have made him almost certain.

He supposed there was still a sliver of a chance it was all a dream or just his imagination, but he was 99% certain that his avatar was somehow now alive and his mind was inside of it. Cael wasn't really sure if he could even call it his mind. It was true he still had all his memories, but he could feel how much more intelligent he was.

Information from a long time ago, that he was sure he had forgotten, was at the forefront of his mind. He could also feel all the magical knowledge in his mind about his spells, abilities, and items. He could still smell Calca too. Feel her lingering touch on his hand and cheek were she had touched him.

It was unnerving but also freeing. He would have to test out his abilities soon and see if any of them had changed. If he truly was in a different world as his level 100 avatar, his life was about to be much different than the one he was living before. That idea brought him nothing but joy.

Not to mention, he was pretty confident that Calca was a reason, if not the reason, that he was here. He couldn't say with confidence that he was correct but based on what he heard her say through the door, and the way she reacted when he entered. He was pretty sure she at least had something to do with it.

And based on what he heard her saying. It sounded as if she had dreamed of him before. Exactly as he appeared, and that she planned on making him her king at some point. He would definitely need to reveal to her some things before they even took any steps in that direction though.

The main one being he wasn't a human. He didn't exactly lie to her because he just kept saying he was a man, the extra appendage he didn't have before, but now possessed, made that incredibly truthful. He never specified he wasn't human, but he still felt a bit guilty anyway.

The way she talked about sparing as many demi-humans as she could get away with made him think she wouldn't mind that he was. He couldn't be certain though so there was always that doubt in the back of his mind.

He had meant to check some things back in his office but all he had done was sit in his chair thinking. He needed to make sure everything was fine with the guild base at the very least.

"Open master source."

The menu opened in front of him as it always did, and he was thankful for that. Trying to manage the guild base without the master source would have been a nightmare.

"Alright, food stocks are good... we have more than enough gold... everything else appears normal... thank god for that... I wonder what my stats look like now?"

Before he can check, there is a knock at the door. He was wondering who it could be since he sent everyone away on various tasks. There was only one way to find out as he closed the master source and said.

"Enter."

To his surprise, it was Ariel who entered his office. She was supposed to be out scout the area. If something happened, she was supposed to send a message. Why was she here?

"I am sorry for the interruption, Lord Cael."

"It is alright, Ariel. Shouldn't you be out scouting though? I told you to message me in case of an emergency."

"Oh... I... there's no... emergency, Lord Cael. I have completed my scouting and believed you wished to meet in the command center. When you were not there upon my arrival, everyone thought it best if I come and let you know we are back and ready for you whenever you have a moment, my lord."

'Has it really been two hours already? I swear I just sat down!'

"No that's alright, Ariel. I got to absorb in what I was doing and didn't realize how much time had past. Let us head to the command center so you may brief everyone."

Ariel gave a bow to Cael and they both teleported to the command center. All the NPCs were there except Angelisa. Seraphina had left her behind to watch over the other servants while the briefing took place. All bowed to Cael as he entered and Ariel wasted no time starting her briefing.

"As you commanded, Lord Cael. I scouted east of the palace. The terrain we are in is forests, rolling hills, and mountains. The Palace of Ascension is currently located in the middle of a forest. I followed the forest and hills east then swept south to establish a perimeter."

She motioned on the map displayed the area she covered to start the perimeter before she continued on with her explanation.

"Once I ran into Parisa and Azrael, we widen our perimeter. I personally encounter three separate villages along my scouting mission. One was filled with Bafolk, the other had Tigerkin, and the last one was Orcs. Other than those three villages, I only spotted a vast mountain range to our east and a wall to our north. I couldn't get close enough to the wall in the time to check it completely, but I could see it with my eyes."

"Very good, Ariel. Parisa, Azrael, what did you encounter while scouting?"

Cael had a decent idea where he was already. Calca wasn't very reserved about telling him about the Holy Kingdom or its neighbors while they conversed. The wall that Ariel is talking about should be at the eastern border of the Holy Kingdom.

That means Ariel didn't actually scout east, she really went north. The wall wasn't north of them but west of them. Although all of this would be technically true since it seemed the Palace of Ascension was facing west toward the Holy Kingdom.

"Of course, Lord Cael." Parisa steps forward and begins. "Much like Lady Ariel, we encountered forests and hills. There was a vast mountain range to the west when we set out on our scouting mission. We also ran into three villages, two villages of orcs and one of Centaurs. We encountered nothing else save for some animals in the forest, my lord."

"Thank you, all three of you, for putting yourselves into an unknown and dangerous situation to gather information for us."

All three looked shocked at Cael's words and quickly tried to reassure him.

"You don't need to thank us, Lord Cael! We live to serve your will!"

"No, I do. I should have thought more about what you might encounter out there and taken more measures to ensure your safety. I do not wish for any of you to die on a pointless errand for me. You are all I have left of my friends after all."

Every being in the command center was brought to near tears with Lord Cael's words. To think that the leader of the Palace of Ascension would think so highly of them. It was hard not to let some tears slip down their cheeks. Cael noticed the mood in the room and quickly tried to change it.

"Now, I believe I have an idea of where we are. Based on the scouting you three did, I believe what we think is east, is actually north in this New World. The wall that you described is on the eastern border of the Roble Holy Kingdom, and I believe we are facing toward it somewhere in the Abelion Hills."

"If you don't mind my asking, Lord Cael. How do you know what the places we are around are called if this is a New World?"

Ariel was curious to his knowledge it seemed, and as he looked around at the nodding heads in the room, he realized everyone was curious about it. He wasn't sure he should drop his suspicions on them now, but he needed to do it eventually and this was as good a moment as any.

"Do you all remember when I went through the door and you thought I left for good?"

He sees everyone nods and doesn't miss the pained look on their faces at the thought of him leaving again. He continues on not wanting them to dwell on everyone leaving them behind as they did to him.

"I heard someone calling out to me. That is why I went through the door. I went to meet with the person asking for me, praying for me really..."

Before he can continue, Seraphina asks him.

"This... This person prayed for you to come when our world was ending and that's what brought all of us here instead of perishing with the last world?"

"I cannot be completely sure, Seraphina, but I believe it is. I met with her last night and we discussed many things. Some of that was this world and the area around where her kingdom resides."

"Her Kingdom?..."

Yael was as sharp as ever picking up on the way Cael said that. He realized quickly that the NPCs essentially worshipped him. It was the only way to explain their behavior. If Calca really did plan on doing what he thought she was going to. They needed to know she was a Queen and more than worthy.

"Yes, her, Holy Queen Calca Bessarez. She is the ruler of the Roble Holy Kingdom and the one who was calling out to me. The time I spent away from the palace earlier was in her company talking."

"She may be a Queen, but is she really worthy of our lord?"

Cael was going to correct Angelo, but he didn't have to. Michael tried his best to do it in his place.

"Lord Cael said she saved all of us! Of course, she is worthy! None of us would exist anymore if not for her!"

Cael put his hand on Michael's shoulder to calm him down a bit. He did like that he was so protective of Calca already, but they were getting a little ahead of themselves. Confessing to her he was a heteromorph might turn all of this around in Cael's face and he didn't want any of them to get too attached to the idea of Calca being their Queen.

"Thank you, Michael. And yes, Seraphina, I believe she is. She is after the same thing I have always been. Freedom. And as much as she would like to grant it, she doesn't have the power to do that right now. Even as the Queen."

"But if she is the Queen, doesn't everyone just have to listen to her?"

Parisa's question made him want to chuckle. If Calca was in his position than yes they would simply do as they were told, but he knew people. They were greedy, power-hungry, and schemers.

She had already told him that most of what she wanted to do would be looked down on by most nobles and if she did something as drastic as banning slavery. Even most of the Lords and Ladies that supported her would turn their back on her.

"It is not always that simple, Parisa. Some only crave power and wealth and do not care who they trample to get it. She is the Queen and does rule the country, but without the support of the Lords and Ladies, her people would suffer more. I think that is why we were brought here. To help her realize her dreams of freedom for everyone."

"Do you plan to serve her, Lord Cael?"

Angelo asked and he could see the trepidation on everyone's faces at that question. It didn't look as if they liked that idea at all.

"No, Angelo. If all goes according to plan, I am going to marry her and make her my Queen. However, if my plans are to work. We need to start right away."

"As you command, Lord Cael."

Everyone single one of them said at the same moment to his words. It was going to take some getting used to conversing with the NPCs like this, but he better get used to it quickly if he really wanted to become a King as he kept telling all of them.

"Well, the first thing is, a Queen should only marry someone who holds the same power as her. Therefore, Ariel, Angelo, Seraphina, Parisa, and Azrael, I want all of you to scout and map out the area in as much detail as you possibly can. Mark each village you come across, what type of beings live there, etc... I know that Angelo and Seraphina are not good at scouting as you three are, but with their invisibility and scrying magic, I believe they will be a great help to you three."

Everyone nodded at Cael's words before he continued.

"I want Angelo and Seraphina to work with Yael on mapping the area and marking everything in its correct place while Ariel, Parisa, and Azrael try and gather intelligence of all the different villages. Try and find out if there is one ruler of this land, a bunch of separate tribes, or if it is broken in regions. We need to find the quickest way to bring all these races together so that I am not only bringing myself to the table for a marriage but also the allegiance of an entire country. One that has been giving the Roble Holy Kingdom a lot of trouble for a long time."

Cael can see they are now determined to help him any way possible and it lightens his burden a bit. Hopefully, they could figure this out quickly. He had no idea why, but his need to be with Calca was almost overwhelming.

It made no sense to need someone you had known for only hours, but he couldn't deny the pull he felt. Even at this moment, he wanted to teleport back into her room and watch her sleep just to be near her. Unfortunately, there was a shit ton of things he still needed to do and he was going to see her that night anyway.

"Before everyone goes, I want all of you to be careful. If you come into a situation you feel is dangerous, teleport back here. As I said before, I don't want to lose any of you so don't take any chances."

They all deeply bowed at his words and he swears he sees a few teardrops falling to the ground. They all straightened themselves, and couldn't wait to make their lord proud.

"Now, Michael, the reason I didn't name you is that I need you to stay here and defend our home. Yourself and Yael will make sure nothing breaches the walls of the palace. There is no duty more sacred than protecting our home so please don't believe that I am sitting you on the sidelines, Michael."

"I will protect our home with my life, Lord Cael!"

The fervent devotion he said those words with made Cael realize just how much the NPCs would do anything for him. He silently promised to work just as hard to make sure they were safe as well before he bid them all a goodbye and teleported to the dining hall.

The talk with the rest of the residents of the palace was much easier. They all just accepted everything he told them and none had asked any questions. He assured them they could ask anything they wished and could come to him later if no question came to them now.

With that taken care of, he needed to check his own status in this New World and prepare himself for tonight. He didn't want to show up in the same thing he did the night before. He really didn't want to do it since Calca asked for him to join her for dinner.

He made it to his room and was surprised to see a maid waiting at his door. He was definitely wondering how in the world she made it here before him. He did see this as an opportunity, he had no idea how to dress for a dinner with a Queen. Hopefully, she could help him out in that regard.

He made it to his door and the maid opened it with a bow. Once he stepped inside, he noticed the maid still waiting at the door. He definitely thought she would follow him in, but was kind of glad she waited instead. It would be strange for her to assume she could just walk into his bedroom.

"Saera..." The maid turned toward him completely dumbfounded that he knew her name. "Please come in and join me. I require your expertise for a bit."

"At once, Lord Cael!"

The maid didn't hesitate to join him once he invited her in. She looked very excited to be needed by Cael. It was a little worrisome exactly how excited she looked. She didn't take long to ask what help Cael required.

"How shall I assist you, my lord?"

"I am having dinner with a Queen tonight, and I'm not sure what would be appropriate to wear. I was hoping you could help me out a bit."

The maid's eyes lit up with delight at his request. She was so excited she didn't even give a reply just bolted toward the closet. Cael was a little taken aback by her reaction and wasn't sure why she was so excited.

Saera appeared only minutes later with what she believed he should wear. Cael thought it was a little too much. It looked like the only place it would look right wearing it would be if he was sitting on a throne that's how expensive the outfit looked.

"I know I'll be dining with a Queen, but that looks more like an outfit for holding court. It will be a private dinner with just us two so something a little more casual please, Saera."

Once again she doesn't answer. She simply gives a nod and takes off back into the closet. She emerged this time with something completely different, and he liked her choice.

"Now I think you are on to something, Saera."

Cael said that to her as he eyed up the black three-piece suit. There were details along the hem of gold and white, but it was almost completely black. He wasn't sure the entirety of the suit would translate to the fashion here.

So instead, he had her replace the blazer with a black and white robe with some gold gems in them. It looked like a good mesh between the two styles and he liked it. He just hoped he didn't look like an idiot in front of Calca.

"That looks perfect, Saera. Thank you for all your help. Now, if you could just do me one more thing, you may have the rest of the night to yourself."

"Anything you wish, Lord Cael. I am here to serve you all night and get you anything you require."

"Could you head to the garden and get me a bouquet of Prismatic Roses? I would like them ready by the time I head out for the evening."

"Of course, my lord. I shall retrieve them immediately!"

The maid didn't waste another second and hurried from the room as fast as propriety would allow her to. Cael chuckled a bit at her excitement, she really did seem all too happy to do any task for him.

Now, he could finally check his own status and see if anything had changed. He quickly said "Open master source." and the menu popped up. He looked at his stats and saw they had remained the same. His abilities, spells, and special abilities all seemed to be there.

Cael was about to close the master source satisfied everything was alright on his end when he noticed an icon next to his experience bar. He tapped it to take a look and what it said made him yell out in shock.

"WHAT?! I LEVELED?!"
