Chapter 46

She was frantically pacing back and forward between Regina's bed and the room's door, if she was honest to herself, she was literally freaking out until she suddenly stopped as closer to Regina's bed as she could without sitting on it "Beautiful I think I know how to save you but I'm scared, what if I mess up? What if instead of saving you I end up hurting you even more?" she sighs and adds desperately "I need you Regina, what do I do?"

A couple of seconds later she says to herself "I know what I'm going to do."

Filled with confidence she reaches for her jacket and takes her cellphone out from one of its pockets and she immediately starts dialing, the phone rings four times before the person on the other side picks up.

"Sheriff do you know what time it is?" the man says angrily.

"No and honestly I don't really care, I need you, now." She says firmly and adds "Come to the hospital, I'm waiting for you in Regina's room." She hung up the phone not giving the man any time to answer.

"Baby it will be alright, I promise, I'm going to bring you back to me my love, back to our family." And as she was finishing her sentence Gold appeared in the room surrounded by a green cloud of smoke.

"Sheriff I do hope that what you need is extremely important for you to have woken me up at two in the morning." He said sarcastically.

She looked at him and simply asked "I need you to try and rip my heart out of my chest."

He looked flabbergasted at her "You must be joking, right?"

"Nope, I am dead serious." Her eyes never wavered from his.

"Miss Swan, you do know that the last time I tried doing that I ended up flying a couple of meters in your backyard."

"I know, but this time you know what to do to prevent from flying through the wall. Gold please I need you to do this for me."

Seeing the determination on her green blue eyes he nodded his agreement "Are you ready?"

"Ready as I will ever be." She answered confidently.

"Here we go." He slowly pushed his hand into her chest and grabbed her heart, as he was starting to pull it, he could feel Emma's magic circling her heart and preventing him from pulling it out and before he was blown away again, he let go of the heart and pulled his hand out.

As soon as his hand was out of her chest, she took a deep breath and she whispered "That's why he cursed the heart specifically, it was supposed to curse my heart because no one can take it out." Lifting her eyes and looking at Regina she asked Gold "Can you remove Regina's heart?"

"Excuse me?" he asked confused, what the hell was the Sheriff up to.

"Have you ever removed Regina's heart from inside her chest?" she asked seriously.

"I have done so, many, many years ago and I promised her I would never do it again and that is a promise I am not willing to break Miss Swan, so whatever you are planning on doing don't count with me."

Her shoulders sagged and she told what was on her mind "Jefferson said that he had cursed her heart and that the curse had been made specifically for me, at the time I didn't pay enough attention to it but now I'm sure that this curse truly was made for me, since our lessons we know that at least you cannot take my heart out and he was counting on that…" she couldn't stop the tears that fell from her eyes.

"Miss Swan, you should know by now that true love breaks any barrier, I'm certain that Regina will be the only one capable of removing your heart if you desire it so." And with those words he disappeared the same way as he had arrived.

Running her hand through her hair she sighed and looked at Regina "Well beautiful it's just you and me again." Approaching the bed and leaning over the brunette's left side she placed her right hand against the brunette's chest "I hope this works beautiful."

Focusing she pushed her hand into Regina's chest, it felt warm and welcoming, as if her love was inviting her in, enveloping the precious heart she felt it beating in her palm and she couldn't help but gasp at the sensation and she gently pulled it out of its safe place.

Once the heart was safely placed on both her open hands, she looked at it and said "It is beautiful just like you Regina, it isn't as dark as when you first gave it to me, it still has its dark spots but it is so much redder, so full of love and hope. I love your heart, I love you Regina and I truly hope you are ready to come back to me beautiful." And with those final words she lowered her lips against Regina's heart and kissed it gently.

As soon as lips touched the heart she felt that same wave she had felt when they broke Regina's dark curse and in that moment she knew it had worked, she knew that she had broken the curse surrounding her love's heart and she quickly opened her eyes, she needed to see those stunning brown eyes open and focus on her green ones once again, she missed their eyes connection, all the emotions that they transmitted with one look only.

It only took Regina a few seconds to open her eyes and as soon as she did, they immediately focused on the sea green ones that were anxiously looking at her. She gave the blonde a smile that reached her eyes and she lovingly whispered "Emma."

With tears in her eyes Emma smiled "It worked, I finally have you back."

"Indeed, you do, what are you waiting for to kiss me Emma Swan?" Regina said teasingly, her smile never wavering.

"Oh, how I've missed you." She gently placed her lips against Regina, they kissed slowly, lovingly.

Opening their eyes, they broke the gentle kiss and smiled at one another, with a slightly hoarse voice Regina said "I love you too Emma Swan and I was more than ready to get back to you, to our family."

"What?" Emma asked confused.

"While I was under the curse, I could hear you, I have listened to all members of my family talking to me and crying for me and it broke my heart Emma." A tear slid down her cheek and Emma adoringly wiped it away with her thumb "By the way, you have a beautiful voice, I loved every word of that song."

Emma smiled widely and pecked her lips, sitting on the bed she presented Regina her heart as she said "I still have it in my hands…"

"I know sweetheart." Regina smiled adoringly at the blonde.

"I guess I should put it back…"

"But?" Regina knew there was something Emma wanted to ask her she could see by the way the blonde averted her gaze and stared at her heart.

Looking at her true love she asked "Regina, can you remove my heart? Please?"

"Why?"

"Please, there is something I need to do and you are the only one that can help me do it." Emma said pleading, so despite not understanding what the blonde truly wanted she acquiesced to her request.

Without breaking eye contact Regina reached for Emma's chest and as gently as she could she reached the blonde's heart, she enveloped it lovingly in her hand and she smoothly pulled it out her love's chest.

Amazed Emma whispered "You did it."

"I did." She slowly lifted it and pressed a gentle kiss on Emma's shiny white heart.

Smiled she said "It tickles."

"It does a little but it feels nice." Regina confirmed.

"Regina I needed you to take it because I want you to have it literally if only for a couple of minutes, you once gave me your heart and I gave it back but now, if you are willing to give me your heart once again I want you to have mine in return, I love you so much that the words to express it have not been created yet." She kissed the brunette's heart once more and smiled at Regina's reaction.

As she felt Emma's kiss on her heart her whole body got covered with goosebumps "Emma I love you and my heart is yours as yours in now mine." Pulling the hand in which Emma had her heart she joined their hearts and they could see a flurry of colors going from one heart to the other.

When Regina separated their hearts Emma happily said "I can feel it, I can feel your love for me in my heart."

"From now on we will always have this piece of one another with us, so even when we are apart, we will always be able to feel each other's love." Leaning closer they shared a passionate kiss, their lips demanded attention and their tongues battled for dominance, when air became a necessity, they rested their foreheads together and smiling they placed each other's hearts where they belonged.
