Hello readers. So, I don't think a lot of new readers have read up to ch.26 and seen my update about this story so I decided to just add this to the new chapter So to everyone saying that this story is unoriginal and basically canon but with little changes, yea I KNOW. Which is why I'm rewriting, like honestly I was so ashamed of this story I swore off the BNHA fandom for months until I got my shit together and decided to redo my trashy writing.

To that one guest review saying I delete bad comments, I don't. I don't get butthurt about criticism to delete bad reviews, honestly like it would be pretty easy for someone to call me out for it if I did. I might be stupid enough to write this mary sue story but I'm not that stupid.

This story is getting a rewrite, and the rewrite will be better than this. I promise.

It might not meet the level of some other godly masterpieces but I think the rewrite will be better. The first version of this was some crazy daydream from a first time writer so forgive me for I made you all suffer through reading it. I might read a lot of fanfics but writing is wayyyy different then reading, now i know that.

For all the new readers, who are reading this I suggest you wait until the rewrite is up. Honestly, this story is a total dumpster fire.

I would delete it completely and write a new one but I didn't want to delete the reviews since I'm sentimental like that. Anyways to those of you who are interested in the rewrite I can promise you there will be better themes developed, less Mary Sue Sera, and more psychological themes about hero society.

As for those of you who still hate the rewrite well...it ain't that deep so I don't really care. This is more of a side hobby than anything, i'm not trying to be a professional writer. Anyways hope you guys have a nice day and see you when I feel like updating.

"200 years ago the line between good and bad had a much bigger gray area than it does now. Back then, before petty thievery and murder, the so-called villains and heroes were quite similar. They both wanted the same thing, freedom for the quirked.

It is unfortunate that they had different ideas on how to do so.

The villains wanted to make the quirkless suffer, to make them pay for the experiments, for the dead children who died too young, for the hundreds of brethren who died because they wanted to change things.

The heroes wanted to do things differently, to forgive, because what is the point of more suffering. If they were to make the quirkless suffer, wouldn't they just become the monsters that they weren't?

It was this argument that caused the split between the two factions.

This was the argument that sparked the battle between good and bad, dark and light."

200 years ago the first quirk appeared in Qing Qing China.

The discovery of the Luminescent Baby who held the first known quirk hit the world in the way a wrecking ball would glass, completely shattering it. In the 25 years that followed the child's birth, the world turned into chaos. It was a period in history that historians would later call "The Dark Era".

The appearances of these superhumans caused the already fragile relationships between the superpowers of the world to point their fingers at one another. Each worried that the other would use these strange abilities in order to start the next World War. It was this terrifying fear that caused the various governments of the world to come to the same conclusion.

These people with special powers needed to be captured.

"The Years of Blood" happened between 2 AB and 11 AB. It was during this time that thousands upon thousands of children were captured and locked into government-controlled containment camps. Behind closed doors, countless experiments were done on these children all ranging from ages 1-9. But by the end of 11 AB, the worldwide protests had become too much and the public opinion began to sway, causing these quirk facilities to be shut down. Unfortunately, by then, of the 300,000 children captured all around the world only 20,000 had survived.

Many historians now claim that it was because of these horrific acts that villainy began. Many of the most famous villains of that time became villains because of the discrimination and hatred they had to face. From being kicked out of their homes and abandoned after the discovery of their powers, or being captured by the government only to escape.

But, between the chaos of the Dark Era, one prominent hero rose from among its ashes.

Nakano Yura, the first person to be born with a healing quirk.

She spent the majority of her childhood hiding her powers, in fear of being captured and put into the containment camps that the rest of her quirked brethren were in. It was only after the rise of vigilantes around 20 years after the birth of the luminescent baby that she entered the scene. In the great massacre of 2284 (22 AB), she saved over 45 lives in one night.

Her quirk, Healing Light allowed her to heal people by gathering life energy from surrounding vegetation and use it to heal people. Because of the nature of her quirk and how many people she had saved, she became the first hero to be fully recognized by the world as a non-threat. Due to her good deeds and meer existence, she became a Symbol for quirk activist groups and is a prominent historical figure of the Dark Era.

Sadly, her death by assassination at the young age of 26 left the world in a frenzy of anger and confusion. Her killer was discovered to be Watanabe Ieshige, someone who was part of the anti-quirk groups that wanted quirked people contained and away from normal humans. With her death, many thought that the quirk activists would lose their symbol and faze out, but instead, they fought even harder.

Nakano Yura had become a martyr and instead of a symbol of hope, she became a symbol for the cruelties of anti-quirk activists.

10 years after her death, her successor arose. Kang Soo-Yeon a 14-year-old girl who was discovered by the Quirk activist groups after saving her friend from a tragic bus accident. Her quirk, Painful Heal allowed her to heal injuries at the expense of feeling their pain.

After her discovery, she was quickly turned into the second symbol of peace for the Quirk activist groups. For the next few years, she would heal thousands of people with her quirk. Her existence became the fuel that the pro-quirk groups needed in order to gain freedom and rights. Unfortunately 10 years after her discovery, was discovered dead in her secure mansion. The cause of death would be overdose by pain killers.

Some believed in the unconfirmed testimonies of her therapist, that had died of suicide. The reason for it being that she was overworked and in so much pain because of her quirk that she could no longer handle it.

To this day the true reason remained a mystery, but for the next 150 years, more people with healing quirks would arise, but just as many of them would fall soon after. Healing quirks were revered for their powers and usefulness, yet the users themselves have all died young.

Maybe it was due to some inborn survival instinct, but Sera was born paranoid.

Since she was little she had a basic concept of life or death engrained in her. Like all human beings, she was born. One day she would die. Further explanations of the concept had been pieced together after a conversation with her mom about what happened to ants after she crushed them.

It was why she realized that being a hero was so dangerous.

In order to not die one had to run away from danger.

After all, humans had an inborn fight or flight system for a reason. It was simple science and physiology, in order to increase the survival of the species as a whole one needed to know to run away from danger.

It was basic common sense. Yet Heroes ran towards danger, which meant they had a greater chance of dying.

She might have been 4 years old when she came to this conclusion, but Sera knew she didn't want to die. Dying meant never seeing her parents again, it meant pain and a lot of blood which she wasn't very fond of.

The list of dangers that came with being a hero was a large waving red flag that she was sure to avoid.

Fame? Money? What was all of that worth when you end up dead before you hit 30? Heroics wasn't something she wanted to touch with a 20-foot pole.

The paranoia inside her only grew when her quirk awoke.

She had been too young at the time to realize the full extent of her power. But, long nights spent listening to her parents' hushed conversations, her mother's crying, and her father's incessant sighs allowed her to get a basic idea of what was happening.

Her quirk was dangerous.

Not in the sense that it would hurt her if she used it, but in the sense that she would be in danger if people found out she had the quirk.

It was because of this reason that for the next 10 years, Hideyoshi Sera had a minor regeneration quirk.

The day that she would later remember as the beginning of it all, started out normally enough.

Like always, she woke up at the crack of dawn.

The reason for this being that a side-effect of her quirk was that she needed little sleep to function. Her body always worked in peak condition, meaning it allowed her to enter REM sleep much easier than most allowing her to have the best sleep in the shortest amount of time. Which meant she could sleep for 3-5 hours and wake up as if she had slept the entire night.

After having her "great realization" as she called it, she had decided the best way to avoid hero work was to have a job that had nothing to do with it. Some research and a bit of parental counseling later, she came upon the perfect occupation.

A nutritionist.

It wasn't as conspicuous as being a doctor, and it was well-suited enough with her quirk that it would give her an advantage among others.

She knew she could have aimed higher, done better, perhaps if she tried hard enough she could've easily become the greatest medical innovations the world would probably ever see.

Though, she likes to think that she had done the right thing in not exposing her quirk. Sure, she would occasionally get twinges of guilt every now and then when she saw news of mass shootings, natural disasters, etc, and think of all the people she probably could have saved. But then that guilt would be pushed straight into the back of her heart by her own self-preservation instinct.

After all, she didn't know these people. She didn't have the responsibility to save them, she wasn't a hero, and she didn't owe them anything.

She would fully admit to being extremely selfish for placing herself over the lives of so many people. But she was pretty sure that most people in her shoes would do the same thing. She wasn't going to play that self-sacrifice game, putting her life on the line to save people who she didn't know.

She wasn't cut out for being a hero.

A little voice in the back of her head tells her otherwise, but she's going to ignore it. Like she always has.

When she entered her classroom, she quickly walked over to her desk and sat down. Listening to the mindless chattering of her classmates she makes out some bits of their conversations. Mostly surrounding the UA entrance exam that was coming up in 5 weeks.

She really didn't get what all the fuss was about UA. Sure most of the students there would all become great and powerful heroes, but from what she knew about their previous exams, they focused more on power-type quirks instead of the more obscure ones. She knew a senior last year that had a quirk that allowed him to sense if people were in danger but failed to get into the UA hero course. Last she heard he was in General Studies.

"Sera-chan, what school are you applying to?" Her seatmate, Harune Ichigo asks.

Sera was pretty close to most of the people in her class. She was relatively pretty with her mother's teal eyes and her father's dark hair. Being pretty smart and outgoing also helped her get along with her classmates as well.

"Ah, I'm applying to Kunugigaoka."

Ichigo lets out a surprised sound at her answer, "Kunugigaoka? Isn't it that one elite high school for doctors and lawyers and stuff?"

Sera gives her a nod in reply and Ichigo gives her a confused look, "You're not applying to a hero school?"

Sera laughs at that, "Why would I apply to Hero school, my quirk isn't very heroic." Well on paper it wasn't, "Anyways hero work requires too much exercise and you know I'm not into that."

"You're always so lazy Sera-chan, but I do get envious of your quirk sometimes." Ichigo comments as she rests her face on her palm, "You can eat as much as you want and your quirk will keep you in perfect shape!"

Leaning back in her chair Sera plays with the pencil on her desk, "Well, it's one of the better parts of my quirk. At least you won't ever be hot during summer or cold during winter."

Ichigo had a quirk that allowed her to regulate her inner body temperature at will. It meant she would never have to overheat during summer and freeze during winter.

"I guess you're right, but I'm still envious!" Ichigo exclaims, before widening her eyes as if remembering something, "I almost forgot to ask but did you hear about that villain attack near the cat cafe?"

"No? What happened?"

"Well, this villain apparently mugged this man in the middle of the night, right? And the guy was pretty injured and he was just laying there. Some people passed by but none of them did anything, apparently, they all thought the heroes would take care or that someone else would call for help for the guy. But no one did and the guy ended up dying after police found him the next day."

"That's terrible!" Sera exclaims, shocked.

"Right?! What kind of shitty person does that? Like shouldn't it be their first instinct to help someone? Why is it that people nowadays think that since heroes are here they don't need to be good people anymore?"

Sera doesn't say anything, only nodding her head along.

She knows deep inside she probably would have done the same thing.

She feels like a hypocrite.

Time continued on at a fast pace, and by the end of the school day, she was ready to head home.

Walking down the street she thought of what she should make for dinner. Her parents were going on a business trip tonight, so they won't be coming back for at least a week. Leaving her with the house all to herself.

'I should make some ramen or maybe udon. I'm craving both.'

Suddenly she paused as she remembered that there was no more milk in the fridge. She had stayed behind to help sort some papers for her teacher so it was already 6 pm. It was winter, so the sun was quickly setting and soon it would be dark.

Usually, these reasons would be enough to steer her away from going. Because one she was scared of the dark, and two she was scared of encountering something shady. After all the movies don't lie when they say most crimes happen in the evening in dark shady alleys. However, she was really craving milk, and if there was one thing that could beat her laziness— it was her stomach.

So she decided to take a detour and head off to the convenience store a few blocks away to buy some milk.

That should have been her first red flag.

"That will be 875 yen miss."

'Aish, the cost of food is so expensive nowadays.' She thought as she handed the cashier the money.

Holding the bag with her gallon of milk in it, she slowly dragged herself out of the store. The store was a few blocks away, but since her school bag was quite heavy she had taken her sweet time getting there. By the time she left it was already nearing 7. The sun had already set a few minutes ago, and the sky was dark with stars starting to slowly appear.

Walking home silently she occasionally looked around at the buildings and noticed the lack of people around her. Biting back a curse she quickened her pace a bit more, silently hoping to get home quickly.

'I swear to the gods above this is the opening scene of a horror movie.' Her many years of anime watching had sharpened her skills enough that she knew when something bad was going to happen. She wanted to regret her decision to go and buy milk, but couldn't.

Passing by a small almost unnoticeable alleyway she hears a soft but still audible groan. Feeling a chill come up her spine she slowly turns her neck over to where she hears the sound. She chokes back a scream as she sees the skeleton-like man laying on the ground.

'Holy shit! There's an unconscious man injured in an alley!"

'Villain.' Is what she immediately thinks as she stares at the blonde-haired man, her grip tightening on the plastic bag in her hand. Slowly she takes a slow step back, distancing herself from the strange man in front of her.

'But, what if this guy is just some poor guy who got injured and mugged by a villain?' She thinks. The man doesn't look like a villain, he looked like he belonged in a hospital. His blonde hair was matted and dry, which meant he probably had some sort of vitamin deficiency.

'This is none of my business.' She reminds herself, 'Some heroes will probably find him while on patr-"

She pauses, remembering the story Ichigo had told her this morning.

'Gods I'm such a shitty person..'

She had never encountered a dying or fatally injured person before. She had only seen them on TV or heard about them in passing. It was only now that she came face to face with the real thing that she realized it was completely different.

But, she definitely can't help him. After all, if she gets caught using her quirk she would be in trouble. People would find out and then they'll ask questions, and if they find out what her quirk could do they'd lock her in a lab and do heinous experiments on her.

'But what if he dies?' A small voice in the back of her mind says.

Her jaw clenches and her steps waver a bit, 'Who cares if he dies! What if I die?! If I save him I might get kidnapped by villains when they find out about my quirk and then they'll probably kill me after draining my blood!'

If her mother were here, she would definitely shake her head and tell Sera to just call the ambulance. But her mother wasn't here, she was currently in New York probably sweet-talking executive into signing a contract that would make her lots of money.

'Why don't you just take a look at his injuries and then call the ambulance.' The little voice her head says.

She wants to continue walking, she really does, but then Ichigo's angry voice sounds out in her head and she remembers the utter disgust that the red-haired girl had in her eyes as she talked about the people who let that man die.

She knew she wasn't a good person, she knew she was probably the most selfish person out there. But she didn't want to be a bad person for the rest of her life. After all, she would just be calling the ambulance.

"Fuck it, let's do it." She mutters as she begins marching back towards the alley.

Slowly approaching the man she stares at him and is even more shocked at how pale and incredibly bony he was. Getting a closer look at him causes her quirk to be triggered and information is quickly processed into her mind.

"How is this guy even alive." She whispers as her mind processed the information her quirk gave her. Forget the ambulance the guy would be long gone before they even arrive.

That meant that if she walked out of this alleyway, even if she called the ambulance the man would die. The only way for him to live was for her to heal him.

'Oh hell no.' She thinks immediately, after all, she didn't know him, he didn't know her. He didn't mean anything. She could leave. She should leave. So she does.

'But, he's unconscious. No one will know, there aren't any cameras in the alley. Be a good person!' The voice says, back once more.

Her steps paused, and she stands in place for a few moments. Taking a deep breath she clenches her fist in frustration. This was so illegal. She had no hands-on practice. Sure she's read enough medical books, research papers, and studies to open up her own library but that didn't mean she could handle the real deal, right?

'Don't lie,' The voice says again, 'You know you can do it. Your quirk allows you to use your knowledge perfectly, hands-on experience or not.'

"Nononono," She whispers, "I need to get out of here." She continues walking out of the alley again.

'You had the power to save him,' The voice says, 'If you don't save him and he dies, that death is on you. You couldn't save all those people on TV that we hear about, but he's right in front of you. You can save him.'

Her steps paused, and she shakes her head, running a hand through her dark hair. She stands there, between the entrance of the alley and the sidewalk. She knows that if she takes one step forward she would be back on the sidewalk and then she could go on with her life. But her foot doesn't budge. Instead, it stays there like someone had decided to glue them to the cement floor.

She stands there that way for a few long seconds, the sky above her was now a dark blue, with any remaining light from the sun, long gone.

Finally, after a long wait, she lets out a curse.

'Fuck it, this could be my good deed of the decade.' Is her last thought before she turns back and rushes back into the alley. Giving a silent prayer to all the gods above that she doesn't regret this decision.

Standing over the man, she sees her quirk activate once more. This guy had the worst injuries she had ever seen before in her 15 years of living. Not that she had seen many, but that's beside the point.

She quickly places her milk onto the floor before rushing over to him, her hands glowing in a green light as she prods at his injury. She pondered over his strange quirk as she healed him. Someone whose quirk didn't have his DNA? Did the quirk not belong to him? Was this guy part of some weird science experiment?

A plan begins to form in her mind as she sees his injuries, the years of reading countless medical books had finally proved its worth. Sure she has little to no hands-on experience dealing with this type of thing, and she was definitely sure that this was super illegal, but like that little voice in the back of her mind said, if she didn't do anything the man would die.

So she continued on with her task. Lifting up the man's shirt she quickly uses her quirk to seal up the ends of the bleeding blood vessels and seals them up, making sure that the blood was flowing normally. She then starts working on the lungs.

Seeing the blood in his lungs she quickly brings it up through his airways and lets it exit through his mouth before splattering it onto the ground. Sweat appears on the back of her neck as she heals the trauma done to his lungs. She didn't know whether to be amazed or horrified at the damage to his lungs, they were a mangled mess of scarred tissue and dead cells.

As she slowly guided air into his lungs to see if they worked any better, she was glad to hear that his breathing seemed less raspy and more clear. She then thought of his stomach— though she could heal it, it would be way too obvious that someone with a powerful healing quirk healed him. She had to take some precautions at least.

Focusing on it she slowly healed the giant bruise that had formed there and sealed up the scar tissue. She didn't know how long she had been kneeling beside the man for, but that thought had completely left her mind as she healed him.

A few minutes later, seeing the bleeding had finally stopped, she once again checked over his injuries.

Injuries:

Missing stomach (CRITICAL INJURY MUST BE TREATED)

A large wound on the left side of the Stomach (approximately 4 ¼ inches in diameter) (Not critical)

Age of Injury: ~ 5 years

Survival Length Currently: 2-3 years

Letting out a relieved sigh she wiped the sweat off her forehead before lifting herself up. Walking over to a nearby phone booth, she leans into the glass feeling the exhaustion of using her quirk take over. She looks over to the telephone booth, wondering if she should go and call the police for him but decides against it.

After all, the less evidence she leaves behind the less likely anyone would ever find her.

She ignores the happiness that had rushed through her when she was healing him.

Toshinori Yagi woke up to the smell of a hospital room. For the last 5 years, this type of thing had been a common occurrence. With the time in between each visit getting shorter and shorter.

Sitting up on the hospital bed he remembers the events of the day before. He had been in his muscle form heading back to his house from a training session with young Midoriya when his wound acted up. Knowing he couldn't transform in front of a crowd he had jumped into a secluded alleyway. When his transformation happened, his vision had gotten blurry and he felt the blood come up his throat. After that, his vision went black and he collapsed.

"Yagi-san, you're awake." He hears a voice say, looking up he sees a nurse staring at him.

"Yagi-san, we received a call at 9 pm yesterday from a man about finding an injured person in an alley. When we arrived we discovered the big injury on your stomach, due to its age we assume you've already known that an injury of such size can no longer be treated. We believe you only collapsed due to fatigue and nothing more, after a brief checkup you can head to the front desk to check out."

"I collapsed due to fatigue?" He confusedly asked.

"Yes, when we gave you a checkup nothing was particularly wrong other than the wound on your side. You didn't even have internal bleeding or any blood in your lungs. So it was just fatigue. The man did mention some blood on the ground, but it probably was from someone else."

The nurse then proceeded to check his breathing and heart rate before deeming him ready to leave. Toshinori was still confused at her words, what did she mean by he had only collapsed due to fatigue he was sure he had another relapse from his wound. He had even felt the blood come up his throat before he had collapsed.

He better asks Recovery Girl to look over his wound.

.

.

"Toshinori, what the hell happened to your body?!" In all her years of being a hero doctor, she had never seen such a baffling medical chart. An injury as old as five years had recovered by over 20% in one night, and this just wasn't any old injury. It was an injury that had cost its victim his stomach and parts of his lungs.

Toshinori Yagi, the victim of said injury, was also confused himself. "I genuinely have no idea Chiyo-san, I had collapsed from overexerting myself too much as All Might and then I woke up in a hospital. The nurse had told me someone called the police about seeing me collapsed in an alleyway and that was how they found me."

Nedzu the principal of UA Highschool who had been observing on the sideline finally spoke up, "Doesn't that mean that someone healed you?"

Both Toshinori and Recovery Girl widened their eyes in shock.

"It could be possible," Recovery Girl states, "But, I have never heard of a healing quirk that was that powerful. Even my own healing quirk could not heal Toshinori's injury to such an extent."

Nedzu ponders for a few moments, "I will get the security cameras checked around the area, and see if anyone matches the description that the nurse gave you." He stands up and pats Toshinori's hand in comfort, "We will also see if we can get the police recording from that night so we can match their voice."

Toshinori Yagi himself didn't really know what to make of this new information. He had been dealing with this injury for 5 years already and had long ago resigned to the fact that he would never be healed. Yet, somehow out of the blue, there might be someone who could save him.

.

.

The three days after she saves the man in the alley she is constantly on edge and wary of everyone she meets. It had taken her a few hours before she realized what she had done. She blames it on the fact that she was hungry and the lack of food in her system led to her sudden lapse of judgment.

After coming to the realization of what she had done she began to question her sanity at that time. The resulting extreme panic that she would have would lead to her staying awake for most of the night. Who the heck saves some random skeleton man they find in an alleyway?! She had definitely been out of her mind! Her mother would have her head on a chopping block if she found out.

She wouldn't blame her though, she too would have loved to wring her past self's neck if she could.

By the end of the week though, after hours of pacing and conspiracy theories, her anxiety and fear had slowly simmered down. If anyone had found out about her quirk wouldn't they have already kidnapped her by now, right?

The guy was probably long gone and had moved on with his life. Right?

Right?!

Unfortunately for her, that was not the case. One Saturday afternoon, 10 days after she had saved the man in the alley, her doorbell rang.

She freezes midway through beating her egg whites, and she can feel her face pale.

She doesn't have friends that visit her house randomly. She liked her peace and quiet too much to have friends over. Neither did she order any food or have any package arriving. Her parents were also on their business trip and wouldn't be coming back until the end of the month.

Which could only mean, one the mailman had decided to ring her doorbell. Or two, some poor pizza delivery guy got lost and decided to ring her doorbell out of all people.

She tries calming herself, taking in a deep breath, yet making sure she didn't make any extra noise to not alert the people outside of her presence.

After some moments of silence, she decides to ignore it. Hoping that whoever the hell was outside would leave her alone. Unfortunately, the doorbell continued to ring a second and third time, causing her to have more near panic attacks at whoever was outside. She was pretty sure if she didn't open it they were going to knock her door down.

But when silence resumes and the fourth ring isn't heard she lets out a breath. Still feeling paranoid, she walks towards the door as quietly as possible to check if they had left.

Upon looking through the peephole on her door she is scared stiff to see that, no, they had in fact not left.

Instead, they were looking right up at her, through the hole as if they knew she was looking at them. A giant white mouse, a tall man, a very short old lady, and worse of all, the skeleton man she saved that night.

Seeing the pale-faced, gaunt-looking man she can feel all the blood leaving her face.

'It's fine, I just have to pretend I'm not home or anything. After a few more minutes they'll leave.'

Unfortunately for her the people outside have discovered that she was behind the door.

"Ms. Hideyoshi, please open the door." She hears one of the people outside say, "We are not here to harm you in any way. If you would like we can show you proper licenses."

She wants to scream, and shout at them to leave. But, the tall guy looks like he's part of the police and she might be under their radar if she doesn't let them in.

"Who are you?" She asks from behind the door (like hell she was opening it to a random bunch of strangers), hands clenched in an attempt to make sure she didn't stutter.

The giant white mouse looks up at her and in a cheery voice that sounded more like a death sentence to her, responded, "I'm Nedzu, the principal of UA, and we're here to talk to you about the events that happened 10 days ago."
