Hello everyone! This is my first story, it has no beta, so it will go through many edits. I'll try to update it as much as possible. This is a short chapter as it's just a prologue.

Set in 5th year, Dumbledore has been replaced, but not due to Dumbledore's Army. It is December in story.

Happy Reading!

Help will always be given at Hogwarts to those who ask for it.

It was a stormy night, and the rain lashed on mercilessly. A petite figure climbed out of a portrait hole and sprinted through the corridor facing the Gryffindor Common Room.

Hermione Jean Granger was a model student who always received top grades unless it was the Ministry-loving Umbridge's class. Today she was doing something that could possibly help may students of Hogwarts. It would break many rules, but it was Ron's idea and, he and Harry had never cared about rule-breaking.

She stopped at the stairs, looked around and slowly started climbing the stairs, jumping over the trick stair. She stopped to check the corridor. Being a prefect, and the friend of the so-called "Boy-who-seek-attention" she had to avoid getting caught.

She tiptoed across Filch's office. After 3 minutes of walk-running, a cat that suspiciously looked very much like Mrs Norris meowed at her and she stopped dead. As soon as the cat (or was it Mrs Norris? ) went away, she ran in the opposite direction. If she was Mrs. Norris, then Filch could be there soon, better be safe than sorry.

Sound of footstep reached her ear, and she hid behind an armour. 'It is hard to sneak out without the map.' Hermione thought. But she was lucky tonight. It was Professor Flitwick. She knew that the knowledge loving and the ever cheerful professor would approve of her quest. When the professor went around the corner, she released her breath and hurried away.

Umbridge's rule over Hogwarts had a very adverse effect on everything. They were learning absolutely nothing in Defence against the Dark Arts, had enforced various decree that had made life hell at Hogwarts for everyone.

Everyone was rebelling in their own way, from the twin's prank to the Slytherin 7th year's paintings on the walls near Umbridge's office. These activities were having a good effect, making Umbridge paranoid and scared. But it was not enough to end her rule.

Ron had casually made a remark in the common room one day when they were waiting for Harry, which gave her this idea. Hermione had then brushed up her knowledge on muggles dictators and their rise and fall. Soon her brainwave had been converted into a full-fledged plan.

She now had to just had to do some research and light background reading, then she could proceed to act on it. She would tell the boys first thing tomorrow.

The boys were right now in deep slumber in their dormitory, with no knowledge of her whereabouts. Just in case, she had charmed the Marauders' map to start wailing if she got into serious trouble including getting caught by Umbridge.

She ran quietly across all corridors and stairs, also stunning a small trap, and didn't stop until she reached the twirling trolls learning ballet.

Taking a deep breath, she thought of her wish, repeating this again and again in her head she walked back and forth.

After 5 minutes she looked at the wall. Nothing. Wasn't something supposed to come up here? She swore(yes, Hermione DID swear) and tried thinking of something else. 10 minutes later, still nothing.

She was now scared, she had to do something soon. 'Oh no, what am I supposed to think of?' Hermione whispered. 20 minutes had gone by, If she didn't do something fast, then the curfew would start.

She broadened her thought horizon and started repeating again. This time she got it right.

A wooden door of fine carving started forming. The rich brown colour of wood started travelling through the purplish wall, following the colour was the slow and small carving. Slowly and steadily, a fully formed door appeared. It was a grand sight, the door looked breathtaking. Even after 5 years of studying here, Hogwarts never ceased to surprise her. She couldn't wait to see the insides of this room.

She quietly muttered thanks to Dobby, Hermione pushed the door open, and a bright light fell on her face.
