Chapter Nine
Lack Luster Finish
"Dude, you're like a one-girl arsenal." Mina said as she along with some of the students were gathered around Lily and Momo. "Is there anything that you don't have in that cottontail of yours?"
"I mostly just carry stuff I need to survive on the streets. Mainly snacks, lock pick, gemstones that I used in the fight, and enough room to carry stuff in from the store." Lily said as she reached into her tail to pull out a protean bar to eat.
"Seriously, the way you took down Todoroki was like it was nothing." Kaminari said while jabbing at the air. "It's like a pro hero would with little to no effort."
"I can say that he was an interesting person to fight. But he relied on his quirk too much. Relying on your quirk like that will make your enemies learn how your quirk works, and figure out a way to go around it. Like how I did."
"Huh, I didn't think that was possible." Mineta said as he looked over at Todoroki and Bakugo, sulking over their loss.
"Anything is possible. You just need to put in the effort to do so. The thing about the heroes of this society is that they rely too much on their quirks. It's the reason why I was able to avoid their captivity for the past ten years."
"You've been living on the streets for ten years?" Tsuyu asked as Lily nodded. "Why didn't you go to a hero to help?"
"...Kinda hard to ask for help when you can't speak or read Japanese. If you haven't noticed, I'm not Japanese. Plus...I don't trust heroes...at all."
"Why don't you trust heroes? Even if you couldn't understand our language, surely a hero could've been able to help. " Iida asked with his arms folded. The life in Lily's eyes vanished as they were glowing and gave off a cold chill that ran down Iida's spine upon seeing them.
"Because no one came to save me when I was lost and lived on the streets for all these years. It's always, let the heroes take care of it. After all, it's their job to handle stuff like this. Don't bother with her, the heroes will take care of her." Lily said before tossing the eaten protean bar wrapper off to the side. "Even when there was a hero to help me, he didn't do anything but simply walk away. I figure I would wait for him to return...but after the seventh day of waiting, he pretty much abandoned me for who knows what reason." She said before walking up to Iida with a cold blank expression on her face. "So you tell me, rich boy. Why should I place my faith in wannabe heroes that have no problem abandoning their duty for lord knows what reason it was for doing it?"
Before Iida or anyone in the class could even say anything, the air horn sound broke the intense moment between Lily and Iida as they looked over at the screen. Upon looking at the screen, they would see Kirishima and Sato winning their match with Sero and Aoyama. Lily lets out a sigh of both annoyance and disappointment. She really wanted to nail into Iida as a means to let out some pent up anger, but decided to spare him...for now at least.
"Seems like you've been spared for the time being." Lily said before walking by him and over to where All Might was standing. "Momo and I are next, right?"
"Indeed! I must say you're doing a pretty good job in handling yourself in this training exercise. Cooperation, trust, and looking after your partner so she doesn't get hurt. Quality attributes for heroes to have."
"I'm not a hero. Nor do I claim to be one." Lily said as she felt All Might bring her in for a hug. "Gah! What the hell man!?"
"And modest too! You'll make a fine hero some day!" All Might said before releasing his hold on Lily. "This will be the final round for you and Momo. Your next opponent will be Midoriya and Uraraka!" He said which took the two teams by surprise.
"So you'll be fighting against the boy with strength that rivals that of a berserker servant." Artoria said as Lily looked over at Midoriya and Uraraka.
"Seems like it. Taking them out shouldn't be an issue...Though it might be hard for Momo seeing how I don't have anything to counter her gravity touch. And I can't have her fight against Midoroiya given how he was during the fight with Tokoyami and Tsuyu."
"What would you suggest?"
"She worked hard enough for today. I'll take care of them for her." She thought before walking over to Momo who was waiting for her by the door.
"I never thought we would be going up against Midoriya and Uraraka." Momo said as she fidgeted. "Is it wrong to feel anxious about this?"
"Nothing wrong with feeling like that. But I have an idea to make this an easy win in our book."
"What do you mean by that?" Momo asked as a grin appeared on Lily's face. "Is it wrong that your facial expression creeps me out a bit?"
"...It's that bad?"
"It looks like you're about to kill someone right now...which doesn't help given your...um title as the villain killer." She said as Lily deadpans at her. "S-Sorry. If it helps, can I help with changing the way you look when you do that?"
"Whatever, just follow my lead and we'll get this match over and done with in no time." Lily said before walking off to the training ground along with Momo and the other team they're going to fight.
"It's hard to believe someone like her could take down Bakugo and Todoroki." Kaminari said. "And the way she did it was badass."
"It kinda makes you wonder what she had to do to get this good. Especially for someone who's...how old is she?" Jiro asked as she looked over at her classmates who were just as confused as she was.
"I...don't know. We never did ask her much...she is the rumored villain killer after all...Hard to believe a uber hotty like her can be a killer~" Mineta said as he started to fantasize a bit, only to get slapped in the back of his head by Mina.
"Maybe we should ask her some questions before the day is over." Hagakure suggested as some of the students nodded in agreement. "We can't just assume stuff about her without getting her side of the story, right?"
"Much as I hate to say this, but Hagakure's right." Iida said with a somewhat begrudging look on his face. "We should at least get her side of the story as to why she became so skilled in combat."
"Look alive newbies!" All Might said as the students turned their attention to the screen. "The final match for today is about to start. Be sure to take notes on this fight just like all the others!" Back onto the training grounds, the two combatants made their way to their respective sides. This time, Momo and Lily were protecting the bomb from the heroes. Which consisted of Midoriya and Uraraka. As the two combatants waited for the heroes to come, Lily's ears twitched upon hearing a small pebble tumbling down the side of a mountain of rocks. She soon looked over to where the sound came from to see Uraraka making her way to the top of the mountain. Her eyes widen upon seeing Lily and Momo staring at her
"You know, you could've used your gravity powers to lift yourself up into the air to scout the area." Lily said before picking up a small rock and tossing it off to the side. Both she and Momo heard Midoriya letting out a loud yelp of pain from being hit in the head by said rock as he moved from behind a boulder.
"How did you know I was here?" Midoriya asked as Lily turned her attention onto him.
"You planned to use Uraraka as a distraction so you can try and touch the bomb. Something like this happened to me before with a hero by the name of Ingenium and a sidekick, but that didn't end so well with them. They're not dead, but they did have a few broken bones or so."
"You took on two pro heroes by yourself!?"
"Eh, more like running away from two idiots in costumes that pretend to be heroes." Lily said as she noticed a frown on Midoriya's face. "What? I mean heroes nowadays aren't really that good at their jobs."
"You shouldn't talk ill about heroes like that."
"And why not? I'm entitled to say whatever I want. And it's no lie. Heroes nowadays aren't what they used to. It's all about looking cool, wanting fame and glory for the wrong reason, and only caring about how popular you are. Honestly, heroes today are nothing more than just mass produced pop stars pretending to be heroes."
"That's not true! Not all heroes are like that. All Might, for example help and save people."
"Yeah, and what about those who he can't save? He may be the world's greatest hero, but he can't save everyone. He's not a god or omnipotent." Lily asks as she notices Midoriya about to speak, but stops him by raising a hand. "Seriously, it's like people see heroes as if they're gods or something. They're not something special, just normal people like you and I."
"...Do you...hate heroes?"
"It's not that I hate heroes. It's just this shitty world's ideal of how a hero should be." Lily said with a disgusted look on her face. "People only show the light side of hero work, but never the grim and dark aspect of it. Aizawa for example may get to the surface of it, but not go into deep detail of it." She said before cracking her knuckles. "But enough with the idol talking. I'm going to give you two a choice."
"What do you mean by that?" Uraraka asked while making her way towards Midoriya.
"We both know this will be a one sided fight. And you both saw how skilled I am in combat given how I took care of Bakugo and Todoroki. So I'm giving you a choice. Either you give up now and surrender, or you can try and take me down. Fair warning...I won't be holding back."
"W-We're heroes." Midoriya said before getting into a weak fighting stance. "Heroes never back down from a villain."
"Yeah, what Deku said!" Uraraka said as she got into a fighting stance of her own.
"They have courage. I'll give them that." Artoria said before mentally shaking her head. "But not the smartest to some degree. There's no shame in retreating from a fight or surrendering to fight another day."
"Yeah, shame common sense is thrown out the window nowadays." Lily thought as she summoned her invisible sword into her hands. "Little bit of advice. There's no shame in surrendering to fight another day depending on the situation you're in. You should've surrendered." She said before vanishing from their sight and appearing behind Uraraka and smacked her on the back of her head with the flat part of excalibur as she fell face first onto the ground.
"Uraraka-" Before Midoriya could finish, he soon felt something wrap around him as he was toppled over to the ground. Upon focusing on what was on him, he noticed that he was caught in an iron net. Looking over to where the net was fired, he saw a part of Momo's body glow along with a fully functional human size catapult next to her.
"I can't believe you caught wind of what I was planning...You really smart Momo." Lily said as Momo pants with a slight nod.
"Honestly, I didn't even know she was going to be idly talking as a means to distract them like that. But I guess going with my hunch paid off." Momo thought before turning her attention onto Uraraka as the air horn buzzed throughout the training ground. "Is she going to be okay?"
"I think so...I mean, I didn't hit her that hard...did it?" Lily asked as she picked up Uraraka by the back of her hero suit. She gulped upon seeing her passed out and some blood dripping from her nose. "...We might need to take her to Recovery Girl."
