AN: I don't own My hero Academia
How are you feeling?
Fire. Everything was burning. The heat. It was suffocating.
It won't stop.
It won't stop.
It won't stop.
It won't stop.
It won't stop.
It won't stop.
It won't stop.
It won't stop.
It won't stop.
It won't stop!
It won't stop!
It Won't Stop!
It Won't Stop!
IT WON'T STOP!
.
"TOUYA!"
"Ah!" Touya shot up from the nightmare. He could feel his body burning up at the memory. The fire. How it hurt. He winced a when the familiar pain shot through him. His burns were acting up again. Like a constant bee sting stabbing over his forearm, chest and under his eyes. It was annoying but since he dealt with burns before it wasn't that bad. He'll get used to this. He had to. Then he looked at the clock. "Damn it's that late." They boy jumped out from bed and rushed out of his into his brother's. "Hey Natsu, get up it's late."
Silence. Of close there was. No one lived here anymore. It was just a clear and empty room.
Frowning, Touya then turned to his sisters' room silently hoping by some miracle she would be there. He opened the door. Just like Natsuo's room it was completely clean of life. Only an empty bed and a desk. The boy's eyes drooped, "it really happened. They're gone."
Yesterday…
"This is all your fault," Natsuo screamed. Fuyumi was trying to hold him back while he marched towards the target of his aggression. A little green boy holding on to his father for dear life. He couldn't look at the boy yelling at him. It was too scary. That just made Natsuo angry. Bitterly he growled, "Ever since you entered this family you've been nothing but trouble. Mom's been acting weirder. That guy even more so. You don't even have a quirk and he care about you more than he very did any of us. You're not his real son!"
The intense emotions being thrown around made Fuyumi cry. She tightened her hold on her brother while pulling him back as much as she could. "Nasuto, you don't really mean that."
"I do too" he yelled back at her with tears in his enraged eyes. "I knew that boy was trouble since day one."
"That's enough, Natsu. You're too emotional. You're not thinking straight," Touya called out while jumping to defend his chosen family. "Izuku has nothing to do with our family's problems."
"He has everything to do with it," Natsuo argued back not backing down in the sliest. "He took dad's affection away from us, right? Made mom upset and you when crazy because of him. And you're choosing him over me now. After every that happened. Are you still crazy?"
That's when Endeavour step forward. "If you want someone to blame you should blame me. I'm at fault for my own actions. Leave Izuku out of this."
"He should have been left out of this to begin with." Natsuo snapped back glaring at his now ex father. "He's just a stupid replacement anyway, right? He was never supposed to be a part of this family. Maybe if he never came, we wouldn't be in this mess." His glare grew more intense. If he could have loved to burn a hole right through Endeavour's head. "Then again mom deserves better than a jerk like you."
Fuyumi who was holding on to him throughout the whole exchanged couldn't stop crying. She never thought in her wildest dreams her family would end in the shambles it was in now. It was all so peaceful. Even with the tension between their parents, she always thought her siblings here close. They were happy at least. What happened?
Soon Rei interrupts and told her children to stand back. She then faced Endeavour with an ice-cold glare. "I expect to be informed about Touya's wellbeing. If I so much hear I word of his mistreatment I will fight and ruin you." She warned with a malice filled whisper.
Simply, Endeavour nodded. "I report to you of Touya's and Izuku's develop."
"Just, Touya." She harshly corrected. "I have no desire to know what happens to that one." Then she walked away with her children. The only one that looked back was Fuyumi. Her eyes still filled with tears. The others couldn't care less.
Touya walked through the empty halls of his home. Despite it being the same home, he had for all his years living, it felt empty. It lacked the presences of the people he thought he'd be with forever. Their voices and laughter were now replaced by silence. He at least hoped their parting would be peaceful but with yesterday's event's it was anything but. It hurt him to know that was his goodbye to them. It didn't even feel like a goodbye or even a see you later. He doesn't even know if there'll be a see you later one day. Mother made in very clear that she didn't want anything to do with his father…or Izuku. And she's equally angry with him for choosing them over her. But it was his choice and he wanted to stick to it.
His sadness was then interrupted by the grumble of his stomach. He blushed even though he doubted anyone hear it. That did bring up a question. Where is everyone? While wondering, his legs took him to the kitchen. Before walking in, he was hit by the aroma of food. He didn't know whether it was because he was hungry, or it was that good, but it smelled absolutely delicious. He could almost taste it in his salivating mouth. Who could have cooked it? Izuku was way too young, and he's never seen is father cook in his life. Did he hire some high-class chef? Take out? Unable to control his hunger and curiosity any longer, Touya opened the kitchen's door. To say is mouth dropped at the bizarre sight was an understatement.
Endeavour the flame hero. One of the scariest people he has ever met. He was at the stove flipping something in a pan. Even weirder the man was wearing an apron that looked why too small form his muscular form. Also, he was sure that belonged to his mother originally which made things even weirder. At least it wasn't pink. Just a simple bluey grey. Still, was this real? Stunned at the door, Touya soon notice a puff of green hopped over to his father.
The little boy tugged at his leg. Then man looked down at him as he proudly presented what he made. A crudely but none the less shaped rice ball in his crusty purple hands. "I did it, father," he said brightly.
With a little smile and a gentle hand, the man patted the boy's head. "You did well, Izuku. Now go get your brother and prepare the table."
"Ok!" The boy didn't need to go far as Touya already made his way there. His eyes brightened twice as much. "Touya! You're awake," he chimed happily while skipping too him. He then presented his proud, awkward creation to his brother. "Look! Father taught me how to make a rice balls."
This was real, right? What he was hearing and seeing was real, right? He's not still asleep. Or entered another universe. Nervously, Touya smiled at what he hoped was his little brother. His father was the big question mark "I see. It looks good, Izuku."
"Thanks. Now come on help me with the table."
"Sure…" and so Touya went along his mornings like any other time. Setting up the table like usual with the assistance of Izuku. The clanging of porcelain plates hitting on solid wood gave him a calming sense of familiarity. This isn't so strange. It was then he realised he placed too many plates. There was only three of them now, but the table looked so empty without those plates. Should he put them back?
It soon became apparent than it was too late to rectify his mistake. Endeavour was already laying down their meal which looked and smelled amazing. This isn't a dream, right? Once their prayers were said Izuku hopped into the meal like there was nothing wrong with this picture. Even Endeavour acted calm while picking at his first bite. Was the older boy the only one feeling odd? Eventually, his growling stomach wailed him to start eating. He picked up his chop sticks while eyeing the spread before him. Then he cautiously picked up an egg roll that kept calling his name. It was shaped to perfection with a perfect inner swirl and garnished with bits of vegetable filling. Since he was able to pick it up it had to be real. It smelled so good. He'd cry if it wasn't real. Then he took a bite. If this was a dream he never wanted to wake up. What he put in his mouth was the best thing, he has ever eaten it his young life. Even so, he couldn't shake off the fact that the one who made this was Endeavour.
The hero was still calmly going through his meal as if nothing were abnormal. This all felt strange too. His dad and being a pretty good cook are two things that don't go together. Another thought came to his head that didn't make sense at all. Now he knows he's imagining things. It's just not possible.
"You're a really good cook, father." Izuku chimed with a bright smile. "This is even better than mom's."
"You think so too!" Touya said aloud. He had to slap his hand over his mouth. It was too late.
Endeavour merely huffed at the compliment. "It's not that impressive. These dishes are simple. You should both learn how to make these one day." Then things got even weirder. The man's face wore gentle expression in his eye while he smiled lightly. "I'm glad you both liked it. I was worried my skills might have rusted over the years."
"Who are you and what have you done to my dad?" Touya yelled out. This has got to be some weird joke. Either his father was replacement by an alien, or he has a twin brother that is not only nice but is an A class chef.
Soon the man's smile turned into a confused frown. "What are you talking about?"
Touya wielded his chopsticks up like a weapon. He wasn't afraid to used them if he had to. "How do you know how to cook? And quit smiling like that it's creepy."
"Of course, I know how to cook," Endeavour snapped back with the return of his usual dominant tone. "I've lived alone for most of my life, and I had to feed myself somehow. What? Did you expect me to know nothing but how to cook instant noodles like some schmuck? Those things have barely any nutrition or taste. If you want to make ramen, make it yourself."
Now that's the funniest thing Touya has heard all day, "like you know how to make ramen."
Endeavour looked out right offended by the comment. He slammed a fist on the table, "I used to work at a ramen shop. Of course, I know how to make ramen."
This day was just full of surprises. "You worked in a ramen shop?"
"How else do you expect me to pay rent. I had a far different life before I became a hero. I climb my way up here through blood sweat and tears." He then went on a rant about how overpriced his old apartment were thanks to his stingy landlord. The man used to work multiple jobs just to survive on his own. Many of them involved cooking. His fire quirk was useful when their stove wasn't working well. Don't get him started about how he manged all that while going to U.A. that was a whole other rant on it's on.
Slam! "I'm here."
"Arata sensei," Izuku cheered interrupted Endeavour on going rants about his past job experiences. At least the man was sounding more like himself.
Arata was more than a mess than usual. The teacher looked like he flew through a forest. What with all the leaves and a twig stuck in his hair. A mysterious bite mark on his elbow. It bled just a bit. "Don't ask me how I got like this. The story is way too long. Anyway, I brought some food. Since the wife is out of the picture, I thought you might be having some trouble, so I got this." Proudly, he presented a single instant ramen cup.
The Todoroki family had a variety of reactions. Izuku looked at it with innocent awe. He never seen anything like it or had any idea what it was. But his sensei was holding it up as if it's important so it must be. Touya was unimpressed while eating his meal. He was sure it was better than that thing. My god he couldn't stop eating. As for Endeavour, he looked highly offended for the second time that day. Scratch that he looked like he was out right ready to murder the teacher for daring to even suggest feeding the cup to his boys.
Failing to notice the fire the other's death stare he started to list about all the different flavours. How they were super cost effective when you have no idea how cook. The perfect quick and easy instant meal. "I eat these all the time. They're not the best but they'll fill up a hungry stomach." Then he notices the table of good food neatly laid out. Did you order out or something? It all looks good."
Yup, Endeavour really wanted to murder him. Luckily, the man was saved by the embedment of sunshine. Izuku. "No, father made all of this. It tastes good. You want some, sensei?"
A growl came from his stomach. Clearly, he hadn't eaten yet. With a blush Arata ducked his head. "If you don't mind. Something to eat would be delightful."
"Sure, take a seat but first," Endeavour extended a hand. "The bag if you please." Arata wasn't sure at first what he met. The only bag on him was with plastic one with all the noodles. Oh, that's what he meant. He probably just wanted to store them for later. Or so he thought while he happily gave the bag to the other. As soon as he did it was set ablaze. There was nothing left but ash. Arata cried inside. He paid good money for those. Endeavour didn't care. How dare this man assume he couldn't cook and provide for his own family. "Don't every bring those retched things under my roof again."
Crying silently, Arata agreed and took a bite of the first thing he saw. It was unexpectedly good. After a few more bites he eventually started talking again. He then turned to the boys. Mouth partly stuffed. "How are you feeling, boys?"
"I'm alive so that's a good thing. Besides I'm used to scars and my hair looks cool white." Touya joked darkly while tossing his new hair colour. He was the only one grinning. The others had down cased stares. He quickly forced himself to be quiet by stuffing himself with food. "Really, I'm fine," he mumbled with each chew.
"I'm fine too, sensei," Izuku chimed trying to sound convincing. But it was easy to tell it was a flawed. No matter how you look at it his little hands were shaking. They couldn't properly hold the chopsticks he was using. While the positioned looked awkwardly it still had the ability to hold a little bit of food. It's not like her could feel how awkward the position was in his hands. He felt little of anything. His brother and father both held their heads down. He tried to cheer them up, "Really it's nothing to worry about. The doctor said I just need to exercise my hands and I should fine. I can still hold things." As if for a cruel joke Izuku's hold on his chopsticks failed and they clattered to the floor. Silence was the only thing that could be heard.
Arata eventually broke it by handing Izuku a spoon. It would be easy for him to hold for the time being. "I see I'll keep that in mind for your lesson. I'll be sure to add hand exercises to them." Still, no one was talking. The depressing gloom looked like it was here to stay. The aura was strongest though with Endeavour. His eyes were completely hidden in shadows. Not a single flicker of a flame. Has hands were frozen mind action. Holding a bowl in one and chopsticks in the other. He was lost in his own dark thoughts. "Endeavour, how are you feeling?"
The trance was broken, he shifted his eyes to the other. They still lacked any form of fire. "Why are you asking me? I'm not the one who got hurt." His eyes wander back to his sons. More so the scars they each received. He bit his lip at the sight.
Arata eyes thinned with hum. "Physically perhaps." He'd say more but he knew it was useless. One second through the man's mind was enough to tell. So, he dropped the subject altogether. It does not like it mattered much to him. There was one other thing more important that required his attention. "I know now is a pretty hectic time for you but as Izuku teacher I must know. What are you planning to do now?"
Endeavour hummed at the question. He wasn't entirely sure to be honesty. He never expected he would devoice Rei and be down two children. But what's done is done. Their marriage was a sham anyway. He couldn't say he was sad it ended. The woman was only a wife by name and the mother of his children. That was all she was to him. "The media will surely be a buzz about this. I was planning to take some time off work. Need to priorities on Touya and Izuku since they'll need a caretaker while I'm at work."
"I can easily do that," Arata volunteered which was accepted by the children quickly agreeing with him. The man proven to be able to take care of child. Although food might be a concern if those ramen cups were anything to go by. "I can cook," Arata tried to defend himself. This only brought on a doubtful look form Endeavour. "I just can't do it very well. I need precise and detailed instructions. None of this cups and spoons mockery. They must be grams with each step as detailed as possible. If it turns out wrong blame the recipes." Endeavour made a mental note to do just that as well as prepare meals before he goes to work. "Now what are your plans for Izuku and Touya?"
Now that was a question. His plans for Touya were to make him his successor that eventually surpass All Might. That's unlikely given the circumstances. Still, he doesn't think the boy will back down after what happened yesterday. As for Izuku he doesn't know what to do for Izuku. All he wanted from him was to live a full fulling life. In the end he only had one answer. "I'll let them do what they want. Izuku is free to choose provided he can do it. Whatever position he desires I will do what I can to help him long." His eyes the sadly wandered to his eldest son. "I've controlled Touya's life long enough. Given his condition he needs to decide how he wants to carry on."
"You already know my decision." Touya hissed. There was a flicker of flames around his arms while he started his father down confidently, "I will be a hero."
Endeavour clenched his teeth at the line. He turned away for his son unable to look at him anymore. "it won't be easy."
Touya glared a hole at the back to his father's neck "you can't stop me."
Sighing Endeavour had no choice but to give in or risk another incident. Arata soon chimed in with a suggestion than calmed him. "The offer to teach Touya swordplay is still on the table. He has shown some talent for it and it will help him lessen his flame usage in battle."
"If it will help me get stronger, I'll do whatever you want."
Arata chuckled almost darkly. At the comment. "I won't go easy on you." Then his attention turned to Izuku who looked kind of sad giving the connect of the conversation. "What about you, Izuku? Have you decided on anything yet?"
The boy shook his head and the others assured him it was ok. He was young and still had time to choose. The problem was there were limitations to that choice. Izuku has been thinking about it more and more recently. Can he be able to do anything even though he's quirkless?
AN:…I'm back…remember a while ago I said Nastuo would be the bratty type of sibling. You may say he's out of character right now, but I say he's an emotional 8-year-old that isn't really thinking straight. Also hurt that Touya choose Izuku over him. There were a lot of high emotions.
A friendly dude – Thanks and Rei certainly cut through this family in half.
Yinasuka – thanks I'm back and life is ok.
Liziliza – (looks at Nasuto) really is poor Fuyumi but still this was a messing high stress divorce. And you're in luck. I'll just be focusing on these three mainly for the remainder of this season. A little bit in next season as well but the case is going to grow a lot.
Dreamer-Sara – apologies if I accidently awaken any sad memories. I felt like this was the most logical route. At any case so long as I still have the energy we will see then once again.
Bashleyz – thanks x 3
rylek196 –…I knew not everyone was going to like what I did last chapter. Didn't expect to be called a piece of shit for it. Unless you're angry with my review style which fair enough. I'm probably going to have to change it. I've just been doing it this way for a while and I kind of like this way since It allows others to see my response. The word count may become an issue…I do think it's rude to try and promote your own work while shaming mine...why are you talking about Pokémon? This is an MHA fanfic… If you do get new readers good for you. I'm just doing this for fun. …I'm a racist for a typo on my profile page…I don't think I mentioned anything about Germany in there…I'm very confused by this. What did I just read?
Nydelok – well I'm back. don't know if Izuku will need a new room but the extra space will be helpful one day. Also, I agreed. End was probably one of my favourite baby Izuku event to write.
Harleking31 – nah nothing but a chill family brunch aftermath chapter. If you ignore the PTS dream and angry flashback. As for Arata you may form a better option on him next event. He has a story to tell.
Alpha Therapy – fair enough but I'd counter argue. If you want to be a good strategist, you can learn a lot form the past and literature. Even more so if you're that type of person which Izuku is. He will have current examples through news and records form his father's agency. Combat and morality are not enough form a book. First-hand experiences are key. I believe you mentioned before about hearing stories of veterans. While not exact Izuku and Endeavour are going to hear a lot of stories form nearly every type of person under the sun. This will then shape or reshape their morality. Combat is another thing all together for another time.
gustavleon2 – firstly, the main reason why my word count is high is due to my review style and long AN. I may need to change this in the future.
Secondly, I didn't expect to open this can of worms yet I haven't started any of my building blocks for pairing. I just know some might get mad about them. I guess I'll explain my thought process. For anyone else curious you probably want to pay attention. I would have answered this directly, but I feel like others might want this so…I issues with forced Romaic sub plots/love interest. Unless it a romance, these factors are usually unnecessary or frustrating. Looking at that girl form KHR who's name I can never remember. She's that forgettable. The only purpose she served was damsel and the maybe love interest. At least with someone like Uraraka there is clearly chemistry between her and Izuku. It makes sense in cannon, it's not out of nowhere or happens too quickly and best of all she has a character outside of the love interest role. She still needs work but she's better than most.
If the romance flows naturally in the story I have no problems. If it comes out of nowhere. Or it feels like it's there just to be there I have a small problem. This is the thought process I have both in reading and writing. I have read fics where I wasn't that big fan of the pairings but when done well I can role with it. Or it's a minor part that I can easily look over. In fact, I'm going to be writing some parings in this that I'm not a fan of simply because they work in the narrative of this AU.
Now Izuku, because of the way he's going to be there are only 2 options: Shoto or no one. I'm being completely seriously. For the context of this AU Shoto is the only one I can work in naturally. Uraraka will have little to no interaction with Izuku. She'll have more with Shoto . Not enough to a romantic sub plot since she's so minor. Same for Melissa who oddly a higher chance has due to what Izuku will become and one event. Still not enough for a romantic subplot. It would be too forced.
Let me explain, Endeavour was never in love with Rei and Izuku knows this. Touya is going to have a complicated love life. From that Izuku learns romance is an annoying distraction that he doesn't need. Since he feels like he as so much to prove he's going to be a workaholic. Romance will be the last thing on his mind. For this to work it had to be someone who can break Izuku's walls and be very prepared for a harsh rejection. This requires a strong build up relationship and the only one that matches this is Shoto. His and Izuku's relationship is going to be one hell of a ride. I can personally see it go either way. Very complicated friendship/rivalry or maybe something more in the future. Either way Shoto is the only one I can do naturally without having to jump through hoops to justify its existence. But I'm quite opened to no pairing Izuku. Let him be married to his job for now. It's not like he wants someone anyway.
One reason why I can't completely say yes to Shoto other than I think it's completely fine for Izuku to be with no one. it's due to one endgame pairing. It will make Izuku and Shoto a little weird. I can still justify it, but I have a feeling people will be angry with me. I like this ship, but just because I do doesn't mean I have to do it. I might leave it up to you guys to help me decide. Or flip a coin. I might make my mind up the future. Or attempt an ambiguous route. I don't know if I can pull it off. I will have the final say.
Then again this might be all for nothing since I don't know if I'll have the strength to do it all. The current plan is to go all the way up to before U.A. Since my list is so long the U.A events can very well be their own story. I was thinking of putting that as a squeal but that's only if I have the energy for it. Which I hope so because there are events I really want to write. Anyway, most of the romance would in that squeal list. if I decide for whatever reason not to go that fair this romance plan is not going anywhere.
Sorry, this was so long and amounted to possibly never happening to begin with. I just thought I should explain fully. I do hope all of you won't mind the pairs that will show up in this first section and the building blocks for the future hinted ones that may or may not happen if I don't do the squeal plan. Though I'm thankful you'll at least give me a chance and not push pairings. If anyone tires you're out of luck. I am dead set some. No amount of backlash will change my mind.
Jhspzhihzahyk – that's fine but at least your fired up.
Cyber-RK18 – no I still have three more events till the end of this season. Also, Rei was too mad to be nice.
Guest – well not until my exams are over.
Celestial Space – thanks you as well
dreamaholicme - Thank you and I know. I really don't know if I can complete my list since anything can happen. I at least want to complete the first 3 seasons. We'll see if I have the energy for the U.A squeal. Either way. Hope you're all prepared for a long ride.
Next time…Arata has a story to tell.
