About two years ago I made the decision—based on the very warm reception this story received from all of you—to turn this story into a novel. And yes, all of your reviews bolstered my confidence. My love of writing came from this fandom.
It took a number of months to really flesh out this story and format it into a novel. The characters were fleshed out and the story expanded. It was completed and edited by February 2020.
I did the whole 'trying to get an agent thing' for a few months and then spent the remainder of 2020 and the beginning of 2021 doing nothing in relation to my book. If I'm being completely honest—which I am—I gave up on writing. And even after all the time it took me to work on my novel, I gave up on it as well. I stopped talking about it to friends and family, and hoped that they would just leave me alone about it.
Luckily, my uncle didn't.
About a month ago, with his encouragement, I decided that it was time to move the book from my flash drive to paper. I decided to publish it independently through Amazon.
If you enjoyed Greene P.I.: Case of the Dearly Departed, then I believe you will truly enjoy the novel.
All the character names have of course been changed. There is much more depth to the motivations of the characters and a more nuanced story overall. I added elements that didn't make it into the original story, and removed elements that I didn't think needed to be in the book. There are parts of the novel that are practically identical to original, and other scenes and chapters that are drastically different.
Here are the particulars:
I set up a new Facebook page for this book a few days ago.
You can find me under Author Nalo J. Stewart.
The name of the book is – Strangers When We Die.
The novel will be available on July 14, 2021, but is available for pre-order right now.
You all were the first, and only, people to ever read my stories (since I never wrote anything before joining this fandom) and I'm hoping that you'll like the book.
Please find me on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. And if you are so inclined, I would love to know either the name you use in Fanfiction, or (if you're not comfortable giving out that information) that you came from this fandom. This fandom accepted me and made me feel welcomed and seen—I will forever be grateful.
One last thing…
I will be removing this story on July 1st, as I prepare for the release of the novel. So, if you're interested in taking one last look, now is the time to do so. Or…you can just wait and read the novel…lol. I don't think you'll be disappointed. Thank you.
