Let us start the game
He was departing Tatooin Station.
The doors automatically closed and the train began to move with a quiet thudding over the tracks. The early noon shine gleamed on the windows. The train cart was almost empty with only him and a few other people. He glanced left and right. The hazy light caught his attention, tilting his head slightly.
It was a couple off in the corner showing public displays of affection. She had a punk aesthetic with a guitar in its case slung across her back. He had headphones around his neck and gave off a static vibe. Both of them smiling at each other.
He glanced away from the couple to stare down at his lap and fists, thinking about how genuine they were.
Buzz, buzz. It was his phone, he reached into his pocket and pulled it out, looking at the text.
Today's the day, huh?
Yeah.
Still, it feels like you got the bad ending in a video game.
I needed a new beginning.
At least we finished our baby together! Enjoy it!
He left a normal reply finishing the conversation, putting his phone away. He glanced at the window across from him, staring at the slowly changing setting. He was leaving his small home town of Musutafu.
He had been riding the train for a few hours.
The closer he got to his destination the more crowded the passenger car got. He eventually gave up his seat for an elderly lady. As he stood he was shoved into the middle by the wave of people. He didn't mind but he couldn't get a good view out of any window, not able to see the new city he was entering.
Now arriving in Station Square.
He could hear his stop announced over the intercom. He politely forced his way through the doors. He stepped out onto the platform with a sigh, glad he had his personal space back. He glanced around, he was in the underground terminals of the subway system. The crowd of people seemed to be everywhere, he honestly didn't know where to go but assumed up was always a good option, stepping into some escalators, following the group of people that were seemingly leaving the subway.
He squinted at the first glare of natural light peeking through an entrance/exit. The group of people slowly dispersed as they reached outside, all of them going their own way. His eyes widened as he stepped into the city square.
"Wow..."
There they where. The masses. All of them going through the motions of life. Yet there was something distorted about the chaotic order. The sun was cast over everyone, hiding their faces in light. The skyscrapers engulfed them, casting shadows around the station square, always attempting to hide the natural sky. He actually took a step back being overwhelmed.
'This city is more intricate than I could have ever imagined... It's a metropolis behemoth!'
There were built pathways connected among the buildings and he even saw people walking on them as if above was another city within the sky. There were also interconnected cables carrying trolleys for even more accessibility in the high altitude, creating a network of aerial tramways looking as if cars were flying in the sky. But then he noticed that there was no air traffic or structure directly above station square, the only space where the sky was completely visible.
He completely stumbled back, bumping into someone. "Whoa, be careful, it gets kinda crowded around here."
He straightened out and turned to the person he bumped into.
"Yo, first time visiting?" He asked the teen.
He nodded before clearing his throat. "Yes, it is." His eyes widened realizing who it was. "You're the pro-hero, Hawks!"
The winged hero chuckled with a shrug of his shoulders. "Yeah, on duty like usual and spotted someone in need."
"R-Really?! I get to see you in action!"
Hawks kept his polite chuckle, before scratching his cheek with a charming smile. "Actually, I meant you. You looked overwhelmed by everything, figured it was your first time here, and wanted to help you get around."
"Huh? Oh, th-that's pretty amazing that you could notice something like that, let alone come up with a reasonable response." He reached into his pocket to get his phone, looking up the address he was supposed to go to. "Thank you, um, I'm looking for Plus Ultra Comics? Know where that might be?"
His smiled cracked into a smirk. "It's right behind you, across the plaza." He pointed with one of his wings. "Hm, I'll actually walk with you, been meaning to pick up a Spiderman figure I ordered."
He didn't realize it but he was walking alongside Hawks across the populated square. "Spiderman? You like him, Hawks? He's my favorite." His eyes narrowed, confused. 'Why am I so casual with him, like we always have known each other... Wait I haven't even introduced myself!' "Ah, sorry I just realized I haven't given my name, I'm Izuku Midoriya."
"Nice to meet ya, Midoriya, and yeah Spiderman's been my favorite since I was kid, well, comic book hero anyways. Oh, here we are." As they stopped in front of the store.
Izuku shifted his attention from Hawks to the building he was meant to enter. There were distinct differences he noticed between this one and the rest, especially considering Station Square already felt grand in itself. He tilted his head, jarred by its presence. "An old clock tower..?" And it wasn't even close to as tall as the skyscrapers surrounding them.
Hawks laughed at his confusion. "Pretty surprising seeing something so outdated in this city huh? I guess that's one of the reasons the people refuse to tear down this last building of the past. Sometimes we forget our origin, huh?" He stared at the unmoving clock sat atop the building.
Izuku turned his eyes from the building to Hawks, noticed his focused demeanor, and followed his gaze up to the clock. "Our origin..."
In an instant Hawks brought back his charm. "Nevermind a birdbrain's mumblings, let's head inside I'll introduce you to the owner."
"Um, y-yeah, thank you."
The door rang as they both entered the comic book store.
"Hello, welcome to Plus Ultra Comics. Ah, Hawks I assume you came to pick up your order." The store clerk reached under the counter and pulled it out, placing it over the counter as they reached it.
"Ah, thanks, sorry it's taken me so long to get around to it."
"Oh please don't apologize, it's a pleasure holding on to it for you, knowing you're making the world a better place."
"Like always you humble me." He ruffled his hair, along with his feathers. "Oh, this is Izuku Midoriya, seems he has business here."
His ears perked hearing his name. "Y-Yes, hello, I'm Izuku Midoriya and it says I'm supposed to meet a, um, a Toshinori?"
Both Hawks and the man behind the counter smiled. "Ah, that's me, I'm Toshinori Yagi. I've been expecting you, young Midoriya, thank you for bringing him to me Hawks, as quick as ever I see."
"Don't mention it, see ya around, kid." Hawks took his item and left after leaving a pat on Izuku's shoulder.
"Ah, thank you for bringing me here." Izuku waved before turning back to the skeleton looking person behind the counter. "It's a pleasure to meet you, I'll be in your care, thank you for taking me in."
"Oh it was nothing, I'm an old friend of your mother, it only felt right to repay her for everything she's done for me."
"Mom did?"
"Well, we can talk about that later. Today we should get you set up for your new life living here."
Toshinori guided Izuku around the back of the store. There was a set of stairs and an old-style elevator, they took the elevator up to the highest floor.
The clock room.
"This will be your room, the movers brought your stuff from home earlier today, you can set everything up for the rest of today, then get ready for tomorrow. I'll be taking you to your new school."
"Yes, thank you." Izuku stepped into the vintage room, noticing the dusty huge gears that were meant to turn the clock hands but were now left out of time. He also noticed how spacious and open it was, the walls around the clock had open, window-like, canvases revealing the rest of the city. A circle shine was in the center of the wooden floor. He followed it, seeing that the clock was transparent from the inside, letting the sun in. He glanced around the room, more studio-like, noticing all his belongings spread throughout.
"Well I'll leave you to it, I need to man the store for a few more hours, I feel uncomfortable having left it alone for this long already. I'll come up one more time before I close shop."
Izuku simply nodded as he began to get his things organized. As soon as he heard the elevator descend he scurried for a specific suitcase that should have been delivered as well. He sighed in relief after finding it. It had a number padlock. He opened it after putting in the code. He smirked to himself after confirming it was there. He closed the suitcase before going to organize his new room.
It was night by the time he was done. Toshinori had come up to say he was off for the night. "Ah, I see you are finished setting up. That's good, now get some rest, everything starts tomorrow."
"Th-Thanks, I will, and, thank you, honestly."
Toshinori had a feel-good smile at his words but didn't let it hinder his judgment. "I appreciate the words Young Midoriya but let's see what the future holds before you end up thanking me."
It was a weak chuckle because of his situation. "Yeah. We'll see."
"Good night, Young Midoriya." Leaving him alone for the night.
"Night..." And he waited until he was sure he was completely gone. He broke into a smirk as he pulled out the suitcase and opened it.
There they were. His mask guard and outfit. He glanced out one of the window canvases. The city night lights were calling him. The shine and glamor were different in this city and he was ready to steal it away.
"It's time for the Phantom Bunny's debut in Coruscant..!"
Yo, this is the first chapter of the phantom thief Deku story I want to write, it is heavily influenced by Persona 5 but you don't need to have played it to understand this story. And seeing as how Horikoshi likes to use starwars as locations I've decided to create a city based on Coruscant, I always like the city vibe of that planet and thought it was fitting. Anyways hope you like it and look forward to it cause I'm hyped to write it!
