Hello readers new and old, I know what some of my followers may be thinking.

"Nard, why are you writing a Pokemon story when you've not only never written one before, but also haven't finished Talk About a Role Reversal, your story for a completely different fandom?"

Because I'm terrible, that's why.

Recently, the Pokemon sword and shield dlc came out and I fell in love with some of the new legendaries they added, as well as re-falling in love with some old mons that I traded over from older games.

Metagross you remain in my heart forever.

This got me thinking about a story I read a few years ago (and I'm certainly both dating AND outing myself with where my inspiration for this fic is coming from by telling you all about it) called "Pokemon Highschool" by an author under the name of DemonSlayerGod. I highly suggest it if you like pokemon, specifically the legendaries, and gijinka stuff.

At any rate, I thought to myself, "this is gonna be kinda cringey, and since at this point people only know you for RWBY stories, it may not do too well." In addition, this story isn't really about highschool, and while I'm including some amount of Pokemon ability and mumbo jumbo in the form of Burst Pokemorphs, it's more of a slice of life than an action story.

But I don't get paid for this, nobody here sans my partner knows who I am in real life, and it's always been a dream to be able to put my own gijinka story out there, the way I see it, with my own favorite pokemon.

So I'm doing it damn it! And to all of you who have thought similar things, I say you do it too! Be yourself and spread those damn wings! You'll never know what your story will be like if you don't write it!

Yes I'll be focusing on legendaries, mostly because they're well known, liked, and generally easier to make a character out of. Yes normal mons will be present as well. Yes I will stop answering unasked questions now.

So with that being said, and this author's note being entirely too damn long, I would like to finally get into this.

Thank you kind readers for giving this disillusioned fool a chance at living out, or writing out, I suppose, a teenage dream.

I present to you now:

What It Means To Be Legendary

An— essentially— entirely OC gijinka story based off of Pokemon, boredom, and a general lack of sleep and impulse control.

Enjoy.

She awoke as she always did: cold and slightly uncomfortable. The cold was in fact a preference on her part, though the uncomfortable part was not her fault in the slightest.

No, that belonged to the parasite she called a best friend that slept in her house more often than her own. She shot a flat stare at said friend, who had a goofy smile on her face and was none the wiser to her awoken friends growing ire.

A year away from home and her best friend still had the same annoying tendencies from before.

"Wake up you freeloader," she sighed. Her friend groaned and attempted to pull the covers over her head.

"Mmm, five more minutes... Or ten... Or a hundred..." she grumbled.

The awake girl rolled her eyes and extracted herself from her bed, not really meant for two people but forced into the position by her leech of a friend. She walked over to the mirror and started getting herself ready for the day. Already she could hear her family around the house, meaning she was just about on time for her normal routine.

In the mirror she looked at herself. Her eyes were a shiny yellow color, her somewhat pointy face always set in a perpetually flat look, much like the rest of her family. Her skin was pale, likely in part due to the lack of sunlight she got (yet another voluntary choice). Her hair was a light, baby blue color, cut short into a bob cut. She was tall for a girl, about the same height as her two older brothers, sitting just under two meters (or six feet for my metric friends). Her shoulders weren't as broad as theirs though, and her legs weren't nearly as toned as theirs. She was rather... flat on both sides, something her best friend got on her back for when they sent jabs at one another. Said friend was still out like a light on her bed.

Grunting, she grabbed her prized possession off of a dresser next to her mirror.

Each of her siblings had something like this, crafted by their father and given to them with love and appreciation. She, like her siblings, treasured these little baubles as dearly as life itself.

In her case, a pair of earrings, sparkling brightly and looking like actual shards of ice that dangled delicately, swaying and bouncing light around as they moved. She smiled at them, not daring to grip them with any force out of sentimentality alone. With her earrings on, the girl finally dressed herself.

Her normal outfit consisted of a puffy, light blue zip up sweater, darker in color than her hair but only by a little bit. It was a gift from her two older brothers, who told her that if she was going to force their house to be cold all the time, then she at least had to dress as warm as everyone else. Under her sweater she wore a white t-shirt.

Her bottoms were a pair of black skinny jeans that stopped halfway down her shins. Off in the corner were her shoes, a pair of canvas lace up sneakers that were back to the blue color she had such an affinity for with white accents. With everything on, minus her shoes, she tousled her hair a little to get it the sleek, straight way she liked it. Satisfied with her look, she finally turned back to her parasite.

"If you don't get up soon 'Bi I'm gonna have to do the thing," the blue girl warned. The short girl in her bed just snored, rolling over and exposed her back to her.

A big mistake, really.

Walked up to her own bed, and by extension her lazy friend, she took a deep breath. As she breathed out, a must left her mouth and the room dropped even more in temperature. Along her back, four long crystals of ice sprouted, forming two columns of two from the top and bottoms of her shoulder blades. On her face, five yellow dots the same color as her eyes appeared. One between her eyes with another one directly above on her forehead and below on the tip of her nose. The other two dots appeared on each temple, forming what looked like a wide cross along her eyes.

She held her hands up to her friends back, and a coat of ice covered them. She waited and watched to see if her friend would do anything, but she remained unconscious. Sighing, she made her move, pressing her now sub zero hands against her best friends back.

The powers they all had were strange. For some their powers evolved and changed over time, growing stronger or even adapting to their environment. For others the power was always there and it was strong. Manifesting one's power, whether it was trained or innate, took a strong will if one wished to use it as freely as this. She was lucky her father was such a good teacher, or she and her siblings may have been too destructive to keep in the city.

"WhuaAAAAAAHHHHH! COLDCOLDCOLDCOLD!" she shrieked, literally flying up and out of her reach, a pair of fairy-esque wings sprouting from her back. The blue girl stood, there watching her friend scowl down at her as the ice and yellow dots faded from her person.

"Good morning," she greeted monotonously. Her friend blanched at her lack of emotion.

"Really dude!? That's it!? You damn near give me frostbite in my back and all I get is a normal 'good morning' with no expression!?" the short girl whined.

"Oh," the blue girl blinked, "sorry Celebi. Would you like me to try again?"

Celebi glared at her and floated back down, plopping onto her bed and crossing her arms like a little kid.

Celebi had a strange hairstyle, at least to her. The short girl's hair naturally went back and all met and curved up, almost into a point. The tips of her hair were a green color, while The roots and the length were a light blonde. Her skin was darker than the blue girls, a light olive color, and her arms, while short and dainty looking, were strong as a result of the time she spent in her own personal garden at her actual house. You know, when she wasn't freeloading off of her friend.

The shorter girl's eyes were wider than anyone in her family, and they sparkled a brilliant blue color. She wasn't very tall, more than a third of a meter shorter than the blue girl, not even five feet tall in her shoes.

"Regice," Celebi sighed, still glaring lightly at the tall girl, "you're so weird."

Regice shrugged, and threw the short girl's clothes at her. Celebi barely caught them.

"Runs in the family," Regice said simply.

"Oh believe me," Celebi grunted as she pulled all her clothes on, "I'm fully aware of how strange you guys are."

Celebi stood as she was finally dressed. She wore a forest green vest over a light green long sleeved shirt with a pink flower in the center. To keep her hair back, a light blue hair band sat on top of her head. Celebi didn't care for jewelry or anything of the like seeing how often she got her hands dirty.

Her bottoms were a pair of rosey pink slacks that had clearly seen the hard work of a gardener. The pockets were deep, a fact that Celebi revelled in, and the bottom of the pants were elastic, which made them look almost puffy. Next to Regice's own sneakers were Celebi's dark brown boots. She claimed she loved them because they made for excellent work shoes, but Regice felt it was because they added to the girls diminutive height.

"I'm ready for the day!" Celebi pumped herself up, bringing her short arms. Regice watched, making no motion at all, standing almost eerily still.

"We're checking out the school today, right?" Regice asked. Celebi nodded.

"Now that you're back from your year long soul-trip or whatever I can show you where I've been taking classes! PULAS is pretty cool," Celebi floated off the bed. As her feet touched the floor the wings on her back faded away like glitter in the wind.

"PULAS stands for what again?" Regice asked, not really doing her research on the place. She was really going because her friend was there and her dad was able to pull a favor with the headmaster to let her go for free.

"Really? Poke University of Liberal Arts and Sciences?" Celebi recited like it was just that easy to remember.

"Uh, right. I'll have to see if it's really as great as you say. School is school, doesn't matter how fun you think it is," Regice shrugged. Celebi rolled her eyes at the tall girl.

"You're a real card, ya know that?"

"You've said as much before," Regice smirked as the short girl blew a raspberry at her.

"Yeah yeah, you'll see! There's plenty of cool people there! Some are even stronger than you!" Celebi crossed her arms.

"I'm not that strong compared to my—"

"Aht aht aht! Shush! I don't care! Be excited damn it!" Celebi whined. Regice blinked at the girl before changing the topic entirely.

"We're going to be late for breakfast."

"FOOD!" Celebi was out of the room, her boots gone with her as Regice heard her tumble down the stairs outside her room. The tall girl sighed as she followed at a much slower pace. With her general attitude and height, one may mistake Celebi for a high schooler, rather than the twenty year old that she actually was.

As Regice left her room, she bumped into her older brother.

They were the same height, though her brother was much more broad than herself. His hair was an earthy brown color and was cut short into a high and tight. His skin was a dusty grey color, and his eyes were a cloudy orange color. His arms were dense and strong looking, and his chest and the rest of his torso was cut like stone.

He wore a dark grey pullover with no hood. The arms of the sweater were leather instead of cloth, and rather than grey they were brown. The special trinket from their father that he wore was a bracelet on his right wrist. It was a thick and heavy looking thing, carved from stone and embedded into a hardwood band. As it was a solid, the bracelet locked and folded up when he needed to take it off or put it on.

He wore a long pair of trousers that were a dark brown. He wore a pair of heavy boots that were far bigger than Celebi's. They were steel tipped and scuffed in places, but still in good condition.

"Celebi was certainly in a rush," he smiled very slightly.

"Morning to you too Rocky," she raised an eyebrow.

Regirock, her older brother, raised an eyebrow at her dismissive greeting.

"Oh don't be so dull, you only just returned home and this is how you greet your beloved brother?" he laughed. She shoved him but he didn't budge even a little bit.

"I don't need this, this early in the morning," Regice grunted. He laughed again but didn't push her anymore.

"We should hurry down there before she gets impatient and starts yelling... Again," he suggested.

"Please don't remind me," Regice sighed deeply. It was amazing that she and Celebi were as close as they were, especially considering how different they were.

The two siblings walked downstairs, exiting their house. Turning left and walking a few steps they opened another door, this one leading to a small cafe.

This was 'Regi, Set, Go!' their dads cafe-diner and where their six, well seven really, person family had lived for as long as she could remember. The name was as punny as they came, an attempt at humor from their dad.

As they entered, they saw Celebi already at the counter seats, talking to two people. As Regice looked at the two men Celebi talked to and compared them, she noted that they may have been the reason she and Celebi were such close friends, even with their differences.

One man was an absolute mountain, two thirds of a meter taller than herself and her older brothers. His hair was a blonde color, almost golden. It was combed back, pins holding it in place with loose strands of hair poking out here and there. He had skin as pale as Regice's own. He was even wider than Regirock, and his arms were twice as big. His eyes were a very dark color, almost appearing black.

He wore a large white coat that had golden cuffs around the wrists and on the shoulders and had a strange black, maze-like design on the white parts. The buttons of the coat were red, blue, and silver and it had two large pockets on the hips.

His pants were black, and he folded the hems at the bottom of each leg up. The inner color was green, a strange color but one that he seemed very happy with. His shoes were also a dark green color. They looked almost thick enough to withstand a bullet.

That would be their father, Regigigas.

He was an intimidating man, and one who many feared before they got to know him. As popular as their little cafe was, he was actually quite a lazy man, not truly getting himself going until five hours after waking up. He was responsible for all the cooking, baking, and drinks that their shop served.

That led to the other man behind the counter, who took over the waiting and counter work.

He was also blonde, a very similar color to the giant man beside him, even a similar pale complexion. Unlike the man beside him, he was very short, only half a foot taller than Celebi. He wore two large, bright blue earrings that hung down to his shoulders, though his ears were covered by his big, messy mane of hair. They resembled tags of some kind and he had a third tag-like accessory one braided into his hair at his scalp and hanging off behind his head.

He wore a white dress shirt, an odd, almost eye like design in the center that appeared closed at the moment. He wore light grey pants that went over the black leather dress shoes he wore. Around his arms appeared to be some long yellow ribbon that never fell off no matter how much he moved.

He was much more expressive than her or any of her family, hence why he ran the store front while Regigigas made everything in the kitchen. He appeared youthful due to height alone and a severe case of no facial hair, his smooth and clean skin always visible. His eyes were wide and dark in color, but they held a twinkling light that told of mystery and stories that one could only wish for. Of course, the man was technically her family as well.

His name was Jirachi, and one look at the way he and her father interacted told anyone watching what their relationship was. It always turned heads when she explained that the two were married, but nothing was more awkward than the immediate question that followed of 'how do they do it' to which her and her siblings would promptly try and erase the thought from their minds.

"There's the Ice Princess herself now," Jirachi smirked as he watched herself and Regirock walk in. He kissed both on the temples as they arrived before the counter.

"Please," Regice said as she and her brother walked over, "I'm no princess."

"Is that so?" Celebi poked her in the side as an attempted revenge for her cold awakening. It didn't even faze the tall girl.

"Yes," she shot back, "I'm a queen."

"How vain," Regirock smirked.

"My mistake, how could I forget?" Jirachi laughed. His laugh was a melodic thing, like jingling bells. She missed hearing her dad's laugh while she was away.

"Hmph," Regigigas grunted. He didn't talk a lot, her biological father. He was fully capable of speech, he just never spoke unless he felt it was important, or was really comfortable with you. And when he spoke, everyone, and she meant everyone around him listened.

"So Mr Wishley, what kind of story do you have for us today?" Celebi asked, turning back to Jirachi. The short man sighed and shook his head in exasperation.

"Celebi, you've been friends with Ice for how many years now and you're still calling me by my last name? You know you can just call me Jirachi, right?" he smirked, bringing a few plates to the counter. Celebi handled the barb well on her part, sucking her teeth and slumping towards him.

"But you're like, a hundred years old. It feels wrong not calling you mister," she grinned. Regice prepared for the onslaught to come.

One thing you never did was comment on Jirachi's age. Young he may have looked, but young he was indeed not.

"Listen here you little twink," Jirachi took a roll of paper towels off the rack behind the counter and bonked Celebi on the head with it, "I am not old. I am in my prime."

"Yeah, prime seniority," Celebi snipped. A large hand found its way on top of her head, gently resting there despite its massive size and weight and she froze for a second before registering that it was Regigigas who had touched her.

"Don't pick fights you can't win, Bi," the giant man said slowly and wisely.

"Yes Mr Titan sir!" she squeaked. For as long as she'd known the man and as much as he considered her family in her own right, Celebi had always been terrified of Regigigas.

"Again with the last names?" Jirachi laughed as he finished setting the plates. There were six along the counter, Regice knowing that her fathers had already eaten very early in the morning.

It was a miracle that either of the men could wake up before six in the morning. Jirachi almost went comatose when he slept and Regigigas essentially shut down like a robot when he slept. Trying to wake both of them up was much like trying to journey into an active volcano; it was a valiant effort but it would always be in vain. And stupid.

"Any sight of the rest of your siblings?" Jirachi asked as he slid a glass of juice towards Regice. The girl shook her head, but it was poorly timed as heavy footsteps could be heard from the staircase next door.

The perks of living above your family cafe is that you always know who's where and when. Didn't help that, aside from her younger sister, their whole family was quite large. By the footsteps alone they all knew who was coming through the front door next. The bell to the cafe rang as another tall person walked in.

He sighed and blinked the sleep away as he ran a hand across his shiny, silver like hair. It was cut into a very short buzz, better to show the metallic piercings in his ears, his own gift from their father. The two piercings were perfectly spherical and seemed like they were always freshly polished, reflecting light off their steel like surface.

His skin was a dark grey, almost charcoal color, a great contrast to the other three Regis in the room. His eyes were a beady red, looking as though they would lock onto anything that moved. While not as bulky as Regirock, he was still quite toned, and his arms were lean and firm looking.

He wore a light grey dress shirt that had been neatly ironed and pressed, fitting to his chest and back quite well. A dark grey belt with a silver buckle held his pants up, a pair of black dress pants that were cuffed at the bottom. He wore dark brown dress shoes, something he took after Jirachi when the short man had entered their lives.

The second older twin of the family, Registeel, was quite the imposing looking figure. At the age of twenty seven he was already a vicious entrepreneur. The most business savvy of the family for sure. Together, Regirock and Registeel were a powerful duo in their city, with Regirock being quite charming when they were making a deal and also far stronger than his brother physically.

"Greetings family. Celebi," he added the short girl's name as if it were a bother. Celebi stuck her tongue out at him and he didn't even react.

The two of them had never gotten along amazingly. They hardly hated each other, but they definitely wouldn't be caught dead spending time with the other voluntarily.

"Well someone's looking sharp. Got another deal today?" Jirachi asked, handed Registeel a warm mug as he stepped up to the counter. Registeel smiled and nodded his thanks, leaning down and towards the short man so that Jirachi could peck his left temple.

"Yes. Rocky and I have been talking to the Conkeldurr Construction company for a few weeks now and I think we're close to reaching some form of agreement," he said, clearly wanting to be done with the people he was working with already.

"And that deal is...?" Regice waved a hand around. Registeel tutted and tapped her nose.

"Dear sister, it's rude to ask about people's business," he smirked. Regirock laughed and walked behind the counter to help their father move food out to the counter.

"You're business is my business Steely, I'm just being a good samaritan," Regice slumped into her seat. Registeel just scoffed and sat next to her.

"You lost business privileges when you forced all of us to sleep in the mountains for your birthday one year," he glared.

"Oh please, you loved it," she poked his face.

"Yes, all up until night when we all realized you had no intention of bringing blankets on the trip and we had to sleep outside in the cold!" Registeel didn't push her finger away, used to her weird habit of invading his personal space when they argued.

"Okay, that was an accident and I've said that a hundred times."

"Dad had a cold for two weeks after that!"

"I said I was sorry! Damn!"

As the two bickered, Jirachi decided it was time to go and retrieve the last two Regis. He called back to his husband, who sent him a thumbs up without looking his way. Jirachi left the cafe and walked back up into their house.

He unlocked and opened the second door at the top of the staircase and almost ran into a young girl.

She was shorter than her siblings, standing around the same height as Jirachi. Her hair was wild and long, longer than any of her siblings by far. It was tied into two massive pigtails and even still it looked untamed. Her hair was a bright blonde, more yellow if anything. Her face was smooth and round, a contrast to her older siblings' sharp faces.

Her skin was a pale yellow and her eyes were a light pink, shiny and filled with excitement. On her feet were a pair of dark blue running shoes. She wore a platinum white sundress-like outfit with long puffy sleeves. The gifts from her father were proudly displayed.

On each wrist was a shiny navy blue bangle, and around her midsection, cinching the sundress, was a wide belt that looked much like three of the bangles pressed together, also navy blue and wrapping around her waist. The bands were a light metal of some kind.

"Food is almost done, Eleki," Jirachi smiled as he kissed the girl on the forehead. She beamed and bolted down the stairs.

"Thanks dad!" she shouted from outside, getting a chuckle from the man. A sweetheart that one was, often too full of energy for her own good. She was the youngest of the Regis, only sixteen, but she was by far the fastest and most expressive out of all of them.

Sometimes they joked that she was adopted due to the differences between her and her siblings, but eventually it always came back to how there was no way someone would start their kids name with Regi unless it was his husband. Regigigas never did explain the strange naming convention.

That left one. And he was likely still asleep. Jirachi walked down the hall of their house and up another flight of stairs. He turned left, and knocked lightly on the door. After a moment of no response, he opened it and stepped in.

Sprawled out on his bed was a teenager, seventeen to be exact, with a maroon skin tone. His hair was much like Jirachi's own, wild and messy, and just past his shoulders. His hair was a dark dusty grey, and while they were closed right now, his eyes were a shiny, light blue color.

This was Regidrago, the second youngest of the Titan siblings. He was also the tallest, despite his younger age, a third of a meter taller than Regirock, Registeel, and Regice.

"Drags, time to wake up," Jirachi said as he stood over the boy.

"Mmmph," the boy groaned. Jirachi sighed, his three tags jingling as he shook his head.

"Celebi's gonna eat everything if you don't hurry," he said as he checked his nails.

"NOT THE FOOD!" Regidrago shot up, looking around.

"Glad to see you up and about!" Jirachi teased. Regidrago barely responded, throwing on his clothes quickly.

He wore a navy blue vest with a black flannel underneath. Around his neck was the gift his father had made him, a pendant that looked like the skull of a dragon with it's mouth wide open. It was a dark grey metallic color.

His jeans were a deep blue and ripped in places, white strands poking out here and there. Off in the corner the boy ran and grabbed his shoes, a maroon pair of high tops. After dressing himself he pat himself down to make sure he was wearing everything.

He didn't even turn to acknowledge Jirachi as he sprinted from his room and down to the cafe. Jirachi rolled his eyes, listening as the boy practically stampeded down the steps. One day he'd hurt himself with how recklessly he moved.

The short man walked back down all the stairs before he was outside again. He closed and locked the door behind him and walked left into the cafe. As he entered, it was now a lot more crowded with all the entire Titan family present. All of them looked his way as the door opened, evident that they were waiting for him before they started eating.

"Alright you absolutely bundles of sunshine, you can eat now," Jirachi laughed, watching Regidrago and Celebi practically faceplant into their plates. He went behind the counter and pulled two seats over for himself and his husband. Regigigas smiled and nodded as they both sat.

"So kids," Jirachi twisted a kink in his neck away, "we know what Rocky and Steels are doing, what's everyone's plan for the day?"

Ever the most conversational of the room, Jirachi waited as all of the Regis, minus their father, looked at each other. They did this often, seeing which of them would talk first and leaving everyone else in silence while they decided. It was normally Regieleki, but even the teen had her quiet moments, especially when she was eating.

"Today children, we've got a store to open," the short man smirked. Regigigas let out a hum of agreement and a short nod.

"I waf gonna go take Ice out to shee the campush," Celebi said with her mouthful.

"Thank you Celebi for once again granting me the conversation I so wish my children would spare for me," Jirachi sent his kids a sidelong glance that went almost entirely ignored.

"It's not that I'm not talking to you," Regice said between bites of her food, "it's that I already told you on Monday."

"Yeah yeah, I've heard it all before, Ice," the man laughed good-naturedly.

"Ah yes," Registeel hummed, "sometimes I forget that our dear sister had been gone for the last year. Maybe I got too used to the quiet that came from Celebi's absence."

Celebi flicked a napkin at the man, which went ignored, as everything she tried doing to him did.

"What were you doing again? 'Soul searching' or something like that?" Regirock grinned. Regice blew some cold air at him which he weathered easily.

"I was seeing what the world had to offer you blockheads. High school was so boring and such a murder on passion that I wanted to see what there was in the world before I jumped right back into the scam that is the education system," Regice recounted.

"I see, I see," Regirock said in a mock understanding tone, "and where exactly did you go for this adventure of yours again?"

"That, dear brother, is none of your concern," she jabbed.

"Oh boy, should I be expecting foreign dignitaries on our doorstep anytime?" Jirachi asked jokingly. Regice shrugged one shoulder and waved his way.

"You'll be okay, you're good at talking to people."

And just like that the joking look disappeared, replaced by a confused and slightly disturbed look. Registeel elbowed his sister and spoke up.

"Joking, father. I believe she's joking. I hope," that last part was accompanied by one of Registeel's signature glares. Those red eyes of his could really bore through a person's soul.

"Yes I was joking! Just stop with the look!" Regice squirmed as Registeel finally relented. Growing up with everything her older brothers entailed had made the girl quite thick-skinned in general, but when it came to that look, and Regirock had his own glare too, she was still cowed by it.

Celebi would disagree and say it ran in her family. According to the short girl, everyone in the Titan family was capable of being terrifying, even Regieleki. Regice resented that comment, especially since Celebi would dare call her adorable little sister scary.

"When does school start for you two again?" Jirachi asked the two younger Regis. The shortest one looked up at his question.

"Next week," Regieleki said as she pulled out her phone just to make sure, "and Drags probably forgot."

"I absolutely did, so thank you for the reminder," Regidrago sighed as he cleared his plate.

The Titan family was a strange bunch, that was for sure, but they were a well oiled machine. There was a set of rules in their family that had never really been explicitly stated but they all followed them anyways. One such rule was that everyone who lived in the house was obligated to help around the cafe.

"Well, we open in an hour now so we should wrap this up," Jirachi sighed as he stood.

The rest of the family and Celebi stood and stacked their plates before they all went about setting all the tables and the counter for the day to come. In less than twenty minutes the entire place was completely customer ready.

"We must be off now," Registeel motioned to his watch and Regirock grunted and made his way to the door.

"Good luck you two. Don't start any fights," Jirachi called. Regigigas waved to the men as well.

"Any fights that start will be a result of our cooperators poor business habits," Registeel stated as the two left.

"Charming as ever," Celebi grumbled. Regice just snorted and waved the girl along.

"C'mon, you're my guide today. So ya know... Guide me," Regice said.

"Real eloquent for a self proclaimed queen," Celebi laughed as they too left.

"Have fun Ice! Don't get her into trouble 'Bi!" Jirachi called. Celebi groaned loudly.

"Why am I always the one getting people in trouble!?"

"Look at you. You just sorta exude 'bad ideas'," Regice smirked. Celebi slapped her arm but she wasn't fazed.

The door closed behind them as Regice turned and waved to Regieleki and Regidrago. The two would likely be helping around the shop for a little bit before they either got bored or had to do something.

The two of them walked out of the shop, and continued going left from the door. Turning left once again they walked down an alleyway that led to the back of their house and diner. Celebi's car was parked there and as they entered Regice asked the short girl another question.

"So what's this place like? You've been there for a year or so now," Regice moved to fiddle with the AC but Celebi slapped her hand away.

"Hell no! You're not turning my car into a meat locker on wheels just because you like the cold!" Celebi pouted angrily. Regice put her hands up in surrender.

"Okay, but you still haven't answered the question," Regice leaned back into the seat.

"Listen man, I dunno what to tell you that you probably can't already guess. It's one of the more notable universities around, just definitely not the most well known. Decent student population, not giant but not as small as a community college or anything," Celebi raked her mind for more to say, "why the hell would you apply if you didn't know anything about it?"

Regice's pale face flushed a little as she let a finger fiddle with a stray lock of hair. Celebi would've been more surprised if she hadn't already known the tall girl for most of her life. When she got flustered, it normally wasn't from something most people would consider embarrassing, it was because she knew her answer would likely make someone upset.

"Uh, I kinda only applied because you were there..." the cold girl mumbled. Celebi sunk into her seat and sighed.

"Ice, I love you like a sister, really I do, but I don't want you to hate it there just because you wanted to be with me!" Celebi sent her a concerned look.

"It's not that I'm not interested," Regice defended, "I just didn't really care for school already, you know? Figured I may as well try and go somewhere I could have fun."

Celebi sighed but didn't argue further. The year that Regice had been away with her 'soul searching' had been a sad one for both of them. Regice had tried to get the short girl to join her but Celebi was pretty set on moving on to higher education right out of high school. She claimed she'd fall behind too fast if she took a year off.

They had called each other as much as they could, but with Celebi having classes and Regice being in either a different time zone or off on some new adventure or experience, they hadn't been able to talk like they had for their entire friendship.

"Well if that's the case," Celebi started the car and pulled out from behind the diner, "I'll make sure you have the best time you can while we're there!"

"Thanks 'Bi," Regice smiled. She turned and looked out the window as they drove, taking in the city she'd left for a year. She'd only just returned home about two weeks ago, so she was still adjusting.

It was weird. It was like everything was exactly how she remembered it when she was away, thinking about the city and her friends and family seemed so vivid, and yet at the same time it was like there were things she never noticed. Whether they were new additions to the city or simply things she'd actually just never taken note of was unknown for the most part.

"So how'd you get accepted on such short notice again? You said your dad knew the headmaster, but is that just a casual way of saying he scared them into letting you in?" Celebi asked as she turned.

"Not that dad," Regice rolled her eyes, "Jirachi dad. The one that's good at talking to people for long periods of time."

"See, that makes so much more sense and yet it didn't register at all that that's which dad pulled the strings," Celebi laughed.

"As for how, I don't really know either. Apparently he and the headmaster go way back and it was as easy as asking. I don't even know who they are," Regice explained.

"Really? You'd think they'd be around a lot during your life," Celebi said confused.

"Well I assume they were busy running an entire university. I'm sure that takes a little bit of time," the taller girl said sarcastically. Celebi waved her off.

"Whatever. So Mr Wishley knows the headmaster, cool. Back to you though. What classes are you taking?" Celebi didn't turn to her once, which was fine by Regice since she was the one driving and the tall girl would rather not die in a car crash.

"Dunno. Apparently the headmaster wanted to meet me. Dad said it was part of the deal or whatever," Regice hummed.

"Okay that's odd. What's your major?"

"Most popular major in the country."

"Psyche?"

"Undecided."

Celebi slugged her arm without taking her eyes off the road.

"You're the worst, you know that?" Celebi groaned.

"Debatable," Regice grinned.

"What about being a fighter? It's not exactly a major but it's the most popular sport in the world. You're strong. Gotta be if you survived growing up with the giants in your family," Celebi suggested.

"Fighting? Really, Celebi?" Regice asked.

"What?" the shorter girl questioned.

"Just didn't think you were into it was all. In high school you were always saying it was too messy and dangerous," Regice reasoned. It was true too, the short girl had hated the junior fighting team their school had.

"Yeah well, the fighters here are way better than the ones from high school okay? There's just something mesmerizing about it sometimes. Plus it's fun to show a little spirit every now and then," Celebi defended.

"Are they hot?"

"Psh, you know it girl," Celebi laughed.

"Well I'll keep that in mind but I'm not too sure. Fighting can be pretty strenuous. Plus I don't know how my family will feel about me coming back from a year away only to start fighting competitively," Regice hummed.

"Oh please, I've seen you use your powers! You'd probably kick some major ass! Can't be that hard, right?" Celebi nudged her with one arm.

"We can't all be botany majors or whatever like you," Regice jabbed back.

"I am an environmental biology major, thank you very much!"

"Plants are plants, 'Bi."

"Ice, I'm about a minute away from making you walk the rest of the way."

"Point taken, shutting up," Regice backed off. Celebi humphed, satisfied with the silence that reigned.

After about ten more minutes of driving and chatter about random things, often devolving into an argument of some kind, the school appeared as the car turned. Across the bridge was a small island just off the city's coast.

"There it is," Celebi waved one hand forward, "Poke University. Ranked sixth in the country for colleges."

"It's pretty big," Regice replied. Pretty big was an understatement.

The main building itself already looked like a convention hall, and the surrounding campus spanned for the entire small island. Of course, said small island was still a giant landmass, and the fact that the school could afford to own land around the entire thing was all the more impressive. No doubt there was still public property on the island, but considering the size of just the main campus, Regice assumed it was pretty much the school's land.

"If I'm not around to get you a ride, there's a train and a ferry that also go to and from the island. There's another bridge on the eastern side too that goes back into the city," Celebi explained.

"Makes sense. Last thing you want is an island full of people having no way into the city," Regice looked around the area as they drove through. Granted, once they actually reached the island, Regice noted that the island definitely would be able to sustain itself for a few days without connection to the city.

As she looked out the window at all the buildings and stores and people around, she noted that the place was like its own small city just off the coast of the actual city. There were small public gardens, locally owned stores, outside vendors, and people who looked like they had come from all around the world walking and talking on the streets and sidewalks.

There was a large open park like area that had a road down the middle and another road that went underneath via a tunnel. As they drove down the road above ground, Regice watched as the massive building from before began to really tower over them.

"Twenty years of my life in this city and I've never been on this island," Regice noted.

"Feel that. No reason to come here if you're not a student or you live here. Most of the businesses hire students, so even a lot of the workforce here is from the school," Celebi agreed.

"Must get really cold here during the winter," Regice smiled at the thought.

"Yeah well being on the water during winter often makes things pretty cold," Celebi rolled her eyes at her chionophile friend.

To think that her dad knew the headmaster that ran this place? Regice was surprised. From what she knew, Regigigas and Jirachi both came from fairly quiet towns, and neither one had met until they moved to the city. They had been best friends before they were spouses, and Regigigas had five kids before he realized he was gay. Apparently he and her mother had parted on good terms, but she hardly remembered since Reigice herself was only about five at the time. Regieleki had just been born when they had separated and Regigigas and Jirachi had started seeing each other.

That story always had the family sighing. Regigigas never explained why he had gone and had that many children without realizing such a thing about himself.

"Well, I guess I should see this headmaster before we do anything," Regice sighed.

"Oh you'll be fine," Celebi told as she pulled into a parking lot next to the school, "the headmaster may seem intimidating but he's pretty laid back."

"We'll see about that," Regice grunted as they got out of the car. She looked up at the building one more time before taking a breath and walking forward with Celebi towards the doors.

Time to talk to the man in charge.

And that's a wrap for now!

I had a fun time writing this first part, even if it was mostly descriptions.

Regigigas and Jirachi are my favorite legendaries (sue me, I think they're cool) and the rest of the Regis are some of my favorites too, even the new ones. Regular mons will be introduced later, have no fears.

As for descriptions, don't worry, that'll happen a lot less from now on. Well, maybe not less per say, but not as frequently. There were a lot of important characters I wanted to introduce immediately here.

To my followers I know this isn't what I normally do but I had an itch to do this so it shall be done. Rest assured this doesn't mean my other story is cancelled. It'll likely update at the same speed considering I'm still taking classes.

At any rate I hope you all enjoyed this very detail heavy first chapter, and thank you for reading! Let me know what you think and if you want to see more.

Have a wonderful time out there and stay safe!
