The anniversary was actually last week but life was in the way.
ANNIVERSARY!
"And we're back, bitches!" Link said, grinning. With an exalted whoop, Link threw out the script of The Shadow of my Kin. The papers fluttered around him like leaves, a year's worth of work, adventure packed with drama and trauma all at an end.
Katie giggled, floating up with the papers as they fell all around her. Oh what an adventure and to think there's more coming. "Three years, Link! Three years of Corrupted Hero. I can't believe it!"
"I can't believe I managed to live this long with you over my head." Link chuckled at her red color. "Alright, but seriously though, what are we doing now? Where's the script?"
"Well, we'll first have mini-arc where we need to find Epona," Katie explained, color shifting exuberantly. "And after that, there'll be another arc about the Haidrund twins—"
"Wait, what?" Link frowned. "I thought we were done with them! They had way too many screen time!"
Katie brightened irritably. "They're really important in this story so they're going to get their cut! Besides, it's not that long. The author wants to move it quickly so we can get to the Gorons already."
"Speaking of that, where's the script? What's the name of the damn arc?"
Katie pondered on it for a moment, searching over the table where they made their plans. Papers littered everywhere, some about characters, some about plotlines, random ideas scrawled at the edge of the table…where was it? They have the script for the next two arcs but what about the Gorons? That arc was going to be pivotal for the story, incredibly important.
Katie rose up, looking at Link with a deepening crimson color.
"What?"
"What did you do to it? You did something, didn't you?" she growled.
"I didn't touch it!" He gave her a hard, indignant look. "Why would I?"
"Well, you tore your script for the Shadow of my Kin last year," she reminded, and a hammer started to make form. "Link…"
He raised his hands up quickly, wincing. "I didn't take it! You sure it's not around here?"
"I don't know! Faith is usually tidy!"
Link stared at her.
"What?" Katie asked.
"Who," Link said, "the hell is Faith?"
"Our author." Katie flushed to a deep shade of red. "We've been with her for three years and you didn't even know her name?"
Link shrugged, looking a bit abashed. At least he had some hint of self-awareness. "Well, she never mentioned it! It's not my fault!"
"You didn't know that she was a girl a year before and now her name?" Headache. All he had to do was open his mouth for a few minutes and she'll have one of the worst migraines. Oh why was she stuck with this idiot? "Just find the script! We can't start the Goron's arc without it!"
But there was no sign of it anywhere. Faith usually kept her chapters and arcs so meticulously that even an illiterate idiot like Link could keep up with it. The search prolonged with no sight of it was anywhere to be found. Just a few days ago, they spoke in great length about the next two arcs, Faith flushed with excitement and speaking so fast that sometimes her words overlapped. Though now that Katie thought about it, any questions related to the Gorons had the author a bit nervous and she'd quickly evade the question.
"Oh," Katie uttered, "my Goddess."
"What?"
"She didn't write it yet."
"What?"
"She didn't write it!" Katie couldn't believe this. They finally finished the Shadow of my Kin and now one of the most important arcs is not even written? How were they going to manage?
Link rubbed his head. "Ah…wow. Uh, what are we supposed to do now?"
"But-but she was super excited!" Katie exclaimed. "There was going to be a cool twist too, some awesome battles! More temples—"
"No," Link cut her off in horrified anger. "No more damn temples! Those are the boring parts!"
"They are not! She worked really hard on them!"
"There's nothing fun about having me run around like an idiot," Link growled. "Hell, maybe now she's actually going to write something better."
Katie hammered his head, which took a great steam out of her. While he groaned over his bruise, her thoughts continued to race over this new obstacle. Okay, so the arc of the Gorons hadn't been written yet. No problem. But just…what could they do now? She can't be stuck with Link this entire time!
"What are you doing?" Katie demanded, fuming at the sight of him reclining back into the couch.
Link raised his hands indifferently. "I'm not seeing the problem here."
"What?"
"Why don't we just give her a minute or two? A woman's got to take her time, you know."
"But-but our audience! We can't just leave them hanging!"
"Tough luck. They have a problem, they can come down here and get their hands dirty."
Katie fumed at that. "Hey, show some respect! This is supposed to be our anniversary!"
He snorted, hand behind his head. "If this is an anniversary then I sure as hell would love a divorce. Just relax will you? She'll have plenty of time to come up with something. We still have—what, two arcs ahead?"
Well, that was true. But poor Faith gets flustered when meeting deadlines. How will she manage to edit and upload those two arcs while also writing and plotting the Goron's arc?
Link seemed content with himself, not at all bit worried for the boulder hurled at them. He closed his eyes but then snapped them awake. At once, he was up on his feet, stiff and alert.
"What?" Katie asked, shifting to his side with a swirl of white and pink. Then she heard it, a rumbling in the ground, dust flaking from the walls, the papers swishing off the table. A large shadow approached from the corner of the room, coming in closer, growing taller and taller…
And it was a Goron, holding a stack of papers.
Katie gasped, colors lit up. "Oh, thank Goddess! And how are you?"
"I'm not allowed to say my name yet," Goron grunted, and he didn't seem very pleased at that. From the looks of it, he didn't seem pleased by pretty much anything, with that constant scowl plastered across his wide face. "And this isn't a script. It's just a bunch of plotting."
Link sized up the Goron, whistling lowly. "I heard you guys are supposed to be strong," he said, hands on his hips. "But I'm seeing more fat than muscles on you."
"What's it to you, you little punk? You look like a bug someone found under a rock," The Goron hissed, causing Link to narrow his eyes.
"Oh, we got a smart mouth here! Well, this should be fun," Link shot back, smiling tightly. "How's the weather up there, you giant freak? I'm sure you got birds dropping dead with that breath of yours."
"This is supposed to be the hero? This tiny boy?" The Goron laughed. "What? Did I stumble into a nursery room by any chance?"
"Listen you little—"
"Okay!" Katie snapped. "We don't even have a script ready for the arc and you're already fighting? Link, stop being a jerk and you stop copying him!"
The Goron stiffened then rubbed a finger under his nose with a scoff. "I'm not going to be told what to do by some little bug."
Katie reddened and fluttered up and down. "Hey, don't call me a bug! Just who do you think you are?"
"I think you took a wrong turn here," Link said sharply. "I'm sure we're waiting for a Goron, not some chunk of rock."
The intemperate Goron growled and Link glared right back.
Katie could only sigh and took a look at the plot Faith wrote out. Well…it was thought out. At least their author knew the direction of the story. All she had to do now was cement it into words. Knowing how receptive Faith could be, she'll come up with a few ideas to better mend the story together. They'll all have their scripts out before they knew it.
Behind her, Link and that Goron went all out. The mountainous creature sent a large fist, throwing up dirt from the spot Link was on only a second ago. Link laughed out mockingly, throwing more truculent repartees.
"Are we ever going to have a normal anniversary?" Katie wondered out loud. "Hey, you two! Cut it out!"
"I thought Death Mountain was the biggest mountain in the world," Link shot. "Guess I thought wrong!"
"You little goblin!" The Goron lifted the table, papers and all, and flung it over at Link who dodged it swiftly. The table turned over, scripts fluttering around them as if caught in a wind.
Oh boy, Katie thought. This is going to be one heck of an arc, Faith.
Okay, so I haven't started with the Gorons yet but don't fear! I know what I plan to do and what Link and Katie are going to be up against.
Thank you all so, so much for sticking around for this long. It's crazy. I'll try not to let this arc be that long since I'm already planning for the arc after the Gorons and I'm extremely excited for that.
Nevertheless, hope you enjoyed this little blooper. They aren't canon but I enjoy writing them. Get ready for the next arc. :)
