Now, as I'm sure everyone has noticed by now, when working on multiple works at once I usually alternate uploads back and forth. This time, however, I decided to go ahead and do this one this week instead since it was its final chapter and I wanted it finished. "Trying Something New" will be getting its next chapter next week.

Enjoy.

Amazing, really, how a single year could turn so many things on their head.

That was the prevailing thought winding its way through Luna's head as she skipped toward the great hall for breakfast. Her mind wandering as it often did so when she had nothing to focus on.

At the beginning of this year, she was a nobody. No, not really a nobody, many people knew her, just not in a good way. She was Looney Lovegood, a crazy girl nobody liked who talked about imaginary creatures and insane ideas. A girl no one had a problem with bullying and stealing things from. Ravenclaw had made it abundantly clear, when they weren't outright shunning her, how unwelcome she really was.

Now? Now, Luna was still in disbelief at how things had changed in such a short time.

"Morning, Luna!" A first year greeted Luna from at the end of the table when the blonde stepped into the great hall.

Luna returned the greeting, in addition to the several others that she found as she made her way to what had become her customary spot at the house table on the far end of the great hall.

Ravenclaw, as was still the norm, gave her a number of dirty looks, but they could do nothing. Not anymore, now that their ability to harass her had been taken away.

Being greeted by one's housemates was still a new experience for Luna, one that she had to admit, she was liking, but her attention was focused elsewhere. To a certain brunette and raven-haired couple currently holding her seat.

Coming up behind the pair, Luna moved as quiet as she could, grateful for the noise of the great hall masking her approach. Their guard was completely down, they would never suspect the ambush until it was too late.

Luna was about to pounce upon her prey like a lioness when…

"Seriously, Luna?" Harry was looking forward with a blank look but his words carried over his shoulder to the blonde witch about to attack what she thought was his vulnerable back.

"Aw, no fair!" Luna whined, lips dropping into a pout. "How do you always know its me?"

"Magic." Harry answered, tilting his head back so he was looking at her upside down, his grin now visible.

"Please." Hermione rolled her eyes, but was smiling despite herself. Using a half-eaten piece of toast, the older witch pointed at a nearby bowl on the table, one that was polished to a mirror sheen. "Reflection."

"I'll get you one of these days, Potter." Luna had used her best Draco impersonation, and was delighted by the sour look on Harry's face. "You too, Granger. You can't escape me, forever."

The serious look on Luna's face, already out of place to begin with, cracked within moments and all three teens were overcome with laughter. Luna wasted no time in draping an arm around Harry and Hermione to give the pair an affectionate hug, especially seeing as how she hadn't been able to when they woke up this morning.

Speaking of not being able to do things…

"So, how was…" Harry was silenced when Luna lovingly pressed her lips to his. Whatever question he was about to ask was forgotten as his hand came up to cup her cheek.

When the pair had to part for air, Luna couldn't help but giggle. Harry always did have a spaced out look whenever he was kissed, and this was no exception. She had to admit, it was quite adorable.

Having taken in a sufficient amount of oxygen, since even wizards had the pesky need for that, Luna switched her attentions over to the girl on her other side and gave her lips a kiss of their own that was no less affectionate.

Unlike Harry, Hermione was rarely thrown for a loop when they kissed. She was already eagerly returning the lip contact the moment they touched. Instead of a simple hand, though, her entire arm came up to encircle her neck and pull the blonde down into her customary seat between her and Harry.

While the girls were currently occupied, Harry, without looking, had slipped Luna's bookbag off her shoulder just as it appeared she was about to drop it onto the floor. Once it was safe, he rested his elbow on the table with his head supported by his fist and waited for the pair to finish. Not even attempting to hide his happy grin.

"Wow…" Hermione took in deep lungfuls of air once the two parted. "Still can't get over how that always feels so…"

"Amazing?" Harry supplied and when Hermione nodded, he added more. "Yeah, Luna does tend to be pretty fantastic."

Luna blushed a little at the praise, another thing she was still getting used to. But when she felt Harry's arms encircle her middle, she hadn't even processed he was there before her body was leaning into the contact.

Now it was Hermione's turn to watch the other pair with a pleased expression etched into her features. "I think I might need to start carrying a camera around like Colin. This would be a perfect snapshot to hang on my wall."

"Only if I can get a copy." Luna quickly added, nodding emphatically.

"Absolutely." Harry kissed the crown of her head, something that had Luna humming in delight.

"Have I mentioned yet Hermione…" Harry gave Hermione a rather obvious, and dramatically extended, once-over. "That you look great in yellow and black robes?"

"Oh, yes." Luna tried to sound sultry, but even to her ears she didn't quite stick her landing. "But let's be honest, Hermione can make even a potato sack look gorgeous."

"That she can." Harry agreed vehemently.

"You two do remember I'm sitting right here?" A deeply blushing Hermione tried to scowl, but the effect was a little lost by the smile threatening to break across her lips. "And besides, I think the Hufflepuff colors go best on Harry, it matches your hair."

"She does have a point." Luna looked over her shoulder at Harry to the best of her ability.

When Harry tried to stutter out a counter, Luna laughed and took pity on the boy. Taking one of the arms around her, she lifted his hand up to her lips to plant kisses along his knuckles and wrist.

Luna still couldn't believe how they'd gotten to this point…

"Harry!" Hermione's voice suddenly rang out. "Luna!"

Oh, Merlin… Luna was panicking internally. It took every ounce of her willpower to try and not let that little fact show. Yet, Luna was a Ravenclaw, and it was time to put the intellect her house was known for to good use.

"It's my fault." Luna instantly threw herself under the proverbial bus. "Harry was having a… I don't know, a panic attack, I think, and I helped him calm down. We were really close and I kinda… just threw myself at him. He was still confused and I took advantage…"

Hermione was approaching the pair now, her face blank and devoid of any emotion. Luna honestly didn't know which was worse. This, or the mental image of her fuming with angry tears running down her cheeks. All the while screaming at Luna about how they were friends, and how could she betray her like this.

At least Hermione wasn't holding her wand, but then again, the older witch didn't really need it. Harry had told her about what happened to Malfoy the previous year, and that reminder had Luna mentally bracing herself for the literal punch to the face. Hermione could, and probably would, break her nose, and Luna also knew she absolutely deserved it.

If all went somewhat well, Luna could still save Harry and Hermione's relationship. Losing her only two friends would hurt… hell, it would probably break her in two, but it would hurt worse knowing she ruined what Harry and Hermione had. You didn't have to be an oculemens to know those two were head over heels for each other.

The mere idea of her wrecking that… had the bile rising in Luna's throat.

Now, as long as Harry wasn't the self-sacrificing git he was often known for…

"No, that's not true." Harry refuted.

"Yes, it is!" Luna slapped a hand over Harry's mouth, a little harder than she intended. She winced when she realized that, but didn't let that stop her. "Don't listen to him, he's still not fully recovered and doesn't know what he's saying."

"I feel fine." Harry wrenched Luna's hand away and physically stopped her from putting it back by holding onto said hand with his own. Something Luna knew was most certainly NOT helping her plan here! "And that kiss wasn't all you, you know."

"Yes, it was!" Luna yelled before she could stop herself. "It was all me, and Harry didn't even respond."

"I'm much bigger than you, you couldn't force kiss me if you tried." Harry cleared his throat loudly, obviously upset with himself, but soldiered on anyway with his usual Gryffindor courage. "You kissed me and I kissed you back when I could have easily pulled away, but I didn't."

"Harry!" Tears were starting to form in the corners of Luna's eyes, a single one had already escaped her eye. "For once in your life, stop trying to be so bloody noble and good. Be selfish for once in your damn life and shut up!"

The mask of stoicism Hermione wore rippled for a second. Whether it was Luna yelling, swearing, or saying something so uncharacteristically nasty, was anyone's guess.

"Luna…" Hermione started.

"I'm so, so sorry." Luna sniffled, not caring anymore what pain or curse Hermione was about to inflict on her. It would be no worse than the feeling of having her heart shredded by losing two of the most important people in her life. She'd shrugged off a lot of things in the last few years, but for the first time, she found something she didn't know if she could just simply brush off with her usual nonchalance.

Luna's only consolation was a slim hope that Hermione would channel every bit of her blame and anger on Luna, and spare Harry. Luna deserved it, while Harry did not.

"I should go." Tears were running down Luna's cheeks as she turned to flee. Fully expecting to never see the couple ever again. "Goodbye…"

Luna hadn't made it a single step before she felt a familiar pair of female hands latch onto her shoulders.

This was it, time for Hermione to extract her righteous and very much deserved retribution. Luna wouldn't run, wouldn't try to dodge it or avoid her fate. But that didn't mean she could actually look at Hermione while she did it.

"Luna, you will do no such thing." Hermione's voice lacked the hard-edge Luna would have expected, given the situation. It was almost enough of a mystery to make Luna lift her eyes and face the brunette, but not quite enough.

Pity Luna didn't have Harry or Hermione's bravery, maybe then she'd be able to face her punishment with courage and dignity, traits Luna currently found herself lacking in.

"Look at me."

Luna shook her head, unable to face the older witch and the hurt and betrayal she knew she'd find in those beautiful chocolate orbs. The same eyes that had a pang striking Luna heart as she remined herself that after today, she'd be lucky if she ever saw them again.

"Luna Lovegood, you look at me right now, or so help me god, I will set the library on fire!"

As far as threats go, it wasn't wording that Luna would have ever dreamed hearing in that order from the mouth of one Hermione Granger. The fact that it was more muggle than magical also helped fortify its utterly bizarre nature.

"Wha…" Luna was so shocked, she looked up at the brunette witch without realizing she was doing so.

To her eternal shock, there was no hurt there as she expected, no sense of betrayal.

There was definitely… something there. Luna wasn't so familiar with the nuances of emotons and people and had no idea what she was looking at, but it wasn't anger, nothing of the sort. In fact, the fact that Hermione actually seemed concerned, had Luna questioning if she really didn't deserve the moniker Looney Lovegood.

"Don't run." Hermione spoke softly, so much so that Luna would have never heard it if she wasn't so close to the witch. "Never run from us, okay?"

With the power of speech currently lost to her, Luna could only give a weak nod.

"Talk to me." While one of Hermione's hands remained on her shoulder, the other slid up the blonde's neck to cup her cheek. Her thumb gently brushed a stray tear that had escaped off Luna's cheek.

"I think Harry was having a panic attack." Luna swallowed hard and forced herself to talk, still not sure what Hermione was planning to do. "After everything that happened back there… I'm not surprised."

"And you helped him through it?"

Luna nodded.

"Good." Hermione nodded her approval. "And then?"

"I honestly don't know." Luna didn't really have a proper answer. "He was fine, and we were so close, and I don't know… I just… did it."

"And have you thought about kissing Harry before?"

Luna wondered if Hermione knew just how terrified the Ravenclaw girl was about her asking that very question. More than a few nightmares started with those exact words.

Luna had already been caught doing something awful, there was no point anymore in hiding anything.

"Yes."

"How often?"

"Often." Luna bit her lip hard, still desperately trying to make sense of this version of Hermione that was before her. Her face remained an emotionless mask, far removed from the cheerful girl that was her best female friend and other crush.

"Since when?"

"I think that day in the great hall, after the ball. When Harry came over to Ravenclaw table to get me." It was one of Luna's happiest memories, but currently, Luna was trying not to let that show.

While the girls were having their back and forth, Harry remained dead quiet. While he tried to look as passive as Hermione, he was terrible at masking his emotions and thoughts. He was worried, and nothing he did was remotely good enough to mask that.

"But not just Harry, of course." Luna tried another defense, one that was not entirely false.

"Oh?" Hermione arched a single eyebrow, it was the first and so far only reaction she'd had at Luna's words. "Like who?"

Of all the awful, rotten… Luna thought only Harry's luck was this bad, but somehow, she'd just managed to top his record without even trying. On one hand, Luna could try to lie, but Hermione probably knew her too well for that, but on the other… Luna had honestly never once imagined or fantasized about kissing anyone else, just the two people in front of her right now.

Luna spoke a single word, but it was too quiet for anyone to hear.

"I didn't catch that."

Again, Luna gave her answer too softly.

"Luna…"

"You! Okay?" Luna snapped.

"Me?" Hermione asked less in disbelief, and more like she wanted to confirm what she was really hearing. "You've wanted to kiss me?"

"Yes." For one of the first times since befriending the older witch, Luna was becoming uncomfortable in Hermione's presence. Little did she know, the witch's next words were going to be the near knockout blow.

"Well, then, I think our solution here is simple." Hermione emotionless mask vanished, replaced by a beaming smile. "Kiss me."

"W… what?" Luna thought she was full up on shocks to her system today, but it seemed there was more to come.

"Kiss me." Hermione repeated, leaning in close so that their foreheads were touching. The hand that had been resting on her shoulder now snaked around both of Luna's to pull her in.

The girls were so close, Luna was completely lost and almost forgot how to breathe.

It wound up being Hermione herself who pulled the blonde the last few inches toward her, touching their lips together.

While Luna had been the instigator when kissing Harry, this time it was Hermione who ran the show. Luna could do nothing but submit as the older girl effortlessly took control.

While Harry's kiss had been peaceful and serene, Hermione's was fiery and hot. Both brought about different sensations in Luna, but neither was superior to the other, rather both were like two halves of a whole. Both great in their own right, but without the other, something was just… missing.

When Hermione pulled away for air, Luna was left gasping, frantically moving her lips but no sound was coming out. Seeing as how the pieces of her shattered mind were still being gathered, it might take her a bit for a proper coherent thought.

While Luna floundered, Hermione's hand reached over and grasped the front of Harr's shirt and yanked him toward her for an equally searing kiss. All the while, Hermione refused to release Luna. If anything, Hermione was subconsciously pulling the younger girl closer.

"What… what's happening?" Luna said when she finally recovered the ability to form coherent sentences.

"I have… no idea." A now out of breath Harry was just as lost.

"Harry." Hermione looked to her boyfriend. "Luna has feelings for the both of us and I'm sure has been having some trouble trying to deal with them. Right, Luna?"

"R... right."

"Then the fix for that is easy." Hermione smile went wider, if that was possible. "She joins us."

"She what?"

"She joins us." Hermione reiterated, speaking like it was the simplest thing in the world. "All three of us together, you're our boyfriend, we're both your girlfriends and we're each other's girlfriend."

"That's… you can do that?"

"Harry, we're all consenting here, so our relationship can be whatever we want it to be." Hermione patiently explained. "Harry, would you want Luna as your second girlfriend?"

"I…" Harry hesitated, taking a long look at Luna. Luna wondered if he was afraid this was some kind of trap, trick question, or some secret relationship test, but after a little time, he answered. "Yes, I would."

"And Luna." Hermione turned those lovely brown eyes on the blonde. "Would you want me and Harry as your boyfriend and girlfriend?"

"I… would." Luna answered with much less hesitation, but was still struggling to accept that what she was hearing and seeing was real.

"Then it's settled." Hermione threw an arm around both of them and pulled them in tightly.

As with any new relationship, even more so with a three-person dynamic like theirs, there was bound to be hiccups and problems. While they were no exception, it hadn't been as bumpy as Luna would have imagined.

The three just… clicked, in a way. While some things changed, a lot of things stayed the same, just with some added additions. Kisses were no longer imagined, and were even greater than their fantasy counterparts. Luna was free to hold hands with either one, or sometimes both when they could. No longer did she need the excuse of being tired or sleepy to rest on or cuddle into Harry or Hermione, they would be happy to do it while they studied or just simply sat together to enjoy each other's company.

News of the trio's bizarre relationship spread like wildfire almost hours after the first time they were seen together. Not helped by the fact that none of the three hesitated showing affection to each other, especially in front of other people. The only people whose opinions mattered to them were each other's.

Unfortunately, hearing about Harry having two girlfriends caused Gryffindor to step up their efforts to make their two fellow lions unwelcome. Not only that, but for some odd reason hearing about Luna being in a relationship with Hermione, probably out of jealousy for her superior intellect, also caused Ravenclaw to also step up their own game.

The breaking point was reached when Luna was locked out again and Harry had been the one to find her, instead of Hermione.

It had taken Hermione and Luna together to physically restrain Harry, who was already heading to go blast the door down, just like Hermione had feared some time back. The only reason they had been able to do so, was his natural aversion to causing either of his girlfriend's harm, otherwise, he could have easily shaken them both off.

Thank Merlin, they delayed him long enough for the boy's temper to get back under control.

Regardless, it was still the final straw.

After everything, transferring their house into Hufflepuff had been scarily easy. While it was extremely rare in Hogwarts history, there had been a few records of it happening. All it required was the agreements of both heads of house, approval of the sorting hat, followed by the final approval of the current headmaster.

Considering how Harry, Hermione, and Luna all threatened they were done with Hogwarts if this didn't happen, the trio had no fears their wish wouldn't be granted. If not, well, they had heard some fantastic things about Beauxbatons from a certain new friend of theirs.

Dumbledore, while lamenting it had come to this, after hearing out the teen's grievances had actually given his blessing before their heads of houses did.

"Any house would be fortunate to play host to you three, but upon seeing the loyalty you share for each other, I personally can see why the house of the badgers would be a perfect fit." Dumbledore had said.

What had been shocking, was how Hufflepuff had welcomed all three with open arms.

While Ravenclaw bulled Luna mercilessly, Gryffindor did its own brand of bullying to Harry and Hermione, and Slytherin was being… well, Slytherin, Hufflepuff had abstained from most of the bad behavior. They didn't contribute, but neither did they stand up for any of them. A bad apple or two here and there, but the overwhelming majority of the house stayed out of it.

Unbeknownst to the trio, they had been gaining points with their future house and never knew. What had finally sealed the deal, was how the three had specifically asked for Hufflepuff to be their new home. Hardly anyone ever asked to be part of their house, far too many saw it as the dumping ground for rejects and people who didn't belong anywhere else.

Yet, Harry, tri-wizard champion and boy-who-lived, Hermione, brightest witch of her year and perhaps even beyond, and Luna, one of the most creative and imaginative students in the entire school, had actually sought them out. One would be a blessing to their house, but all three? Their arrival had done more to elevate their status in the eyes of magical Britain than centuries of previous students.

Not only did Luna get a house that actually wanted her around, but she got to share that same house with her boyfriend and girlfriend. Said girlfriend now even shared a dorm with her! It was a night and day difference sleeping alongside Hermione, Hannah, and Susan, compared to the prats she previous had to share with.

"'Arry! So lovely to zee you as always." Fleur's heavily accented voice appeared from seemingly nowhere, the girl's arms wrapping around Harry while her chest pressed into his back. Something that was very much intentional.

"Uh… hey, Fleur." Harry managed to choke out, face blushing deep red.

"Fleur…" Hermione gave the part veela an exasperated sigh. "Is that really necessary? You know everyone is starring."

"Yes." Fleur's lips turned in an almost sadistic smirk as she rested her chin on Harry's head. "Zat is zee point. Let zem all look. Serves zem right."

Had it been anyone else practically cuddling with their boyfriend in the middle of the great hall, both Hermione and Luna would have been having a fit before the curses started flying. Both witches had developed something of an infamous reputation for how protective they were, and perhaps a little possessive, of their Harry.

Yet, Fleur was, at the moment, their only exception. While they might get a little annoyed at her affections, they both knew said affections had no ulterior motive. Not only would she be returning home before too much longer, she'd made it abundantly clear she had no eyes for Harry in the romantic sense.

Then again, Fleur actually did have an ulterior motive at times like this, but it wasn't some snaky plan to lure or seduce Harry away from his girlfriends. Rather, it was rubbing the noses of most of the boys in the school, many of which practically drooled over the beautiful Fleur Delacour, that Harry was currently getting to enjoy her attention. Even if the boy in question was a little uncomfortable with it.

They hadn't done it intentionally, but when getting to know a new close friend, you tell them certain things about your life. Things that might be new or nothing major to you, might be grounds for severe retaliation to them.

Suffice to say, when Fleur heard about Luna's bullying, and how most of the school, even their own house, had shunned Harry and Hermione, treating them like leppers, she went straight past mad, zoomed beyond livid, and went straight to pure fury.

The only thing that stopped the part-veela from going on a cursing rampage, was the fact that she was in another school, on foreign soil, and especially as a former tri-wizard champion, had to represent not only herself, but her homeland and Beauxbatons.

While Fleur couldn't directly attack what she perceived as near criminals in her eyes, that didn't mean she couldn't find more creative ways of extracting vengeance. Which is what first led to her practically showering Harry in affections whenever most of the school was watching.

At least they'd finally gotten her to at least tone it down to simple hugs. For a time there, she was greeting the boy with a bone crushing embrace followed by a kiss on both cheeks, and this was the milder stuff. While this might be a little more common in Fleur's homeland, it was playing havoc on Luna and Hermione's insecurities. At least she'd understood that and backed off when they brought it up to the foreign girl.

Sure, Harry had saved her sister during the second task, but all of them had woefully underestimated Fleur's gratitude for that rescue. Though she hadn't said it aloud, Luna felt it was safe to say Fleur felt she owed Harry a life debt that she had no intention of forgetting.

The part veela had even gone so far as to tell the girls that if they ever needed help or relationship advice to not hesitate to reach out to her. While Hermione and Luna both might have been lacking in that department, Fleur had no such handicap.

"Wonder how long of Fleur hugging Harry until a riot breaks out?" Luna whispered over at Hermione, but did so loud enough that Harry and Fleur could hear as well. "I think some of the boys at Gryffindor are already throwing curses with their eyes, might be actual curses soon."

"It vould be amusing to see them try." Viktor arrived next, taking what had become his customary seat at their breakfast table across from Hermione, in addition to a couple of other Durmstrang students beside him. The surrounding Hufflepuffs, who had actually been holding the seats just for them, were delighted to make room for their foreign guests.

"Entertaining, too." One of the boys beside Viktor sent a rather sinister smile at the table in question. When the targets of his leer were metaphorically sent scrambling for cover, his smile shifted into one far warmer and welcoming while he greeted their own table in his native Bulgarian.

Fleur, watching the spectacle, erupted into peals of laughter as she finally released a relived Harry and took her usual seat beside the boy. A few Beauxbatons students that often accompanied her had already sat down.

Conversations were already striking up as they always did when their group sat together at the Hufflepuff table. Whether it was Harry's questions on how Durmstrang and Beauxbatons were different from Hogwarts, or how Hermione asked what different subjects they taught that were not taught here, or Luna's particular favorite, the magical creatures that inhabited Bulgaria and France versus here in Scotland.

While Luna did take part in the discussions, her mind was elsewhere today. Particularly, on the soon to be upon them end of the schoolyear.

Her tardiness to breakfast today was actually because she'd taken a detour to visit the owlery and send a letter to her father at the Rookery. To most parents, a request for your new boyfriend to spend the summer with you and your father might be a little too much too soon, but Luna had no doubts her beloved father would happily approve.

Once there, they would work on getting him to allow Hermione time to visit as well, something else Luna was sure he'd have no problem with. Next step would be some occasional visits to the Grangers over the course of the summer, with the ultimate goal being to warm the Granger parents up to Harry and Luna before asking if Harry could spend the next summer at their place, instead.

If all went well, Harry would never have to spend any more time at the Dursleys, ever again.

Luna couldn't help but wonder what her life would be like if Harry had never noticed her, and never asked her to the ball.

Sparing a glance at the incredible boy and equally incredible girl sitting on her flanks, and the group of what had become friends surrounding her, Luna found that she simply didn't care. It was long past the time to look back, rather, it was time to look forward to the future.

A future that Luna had to admit, never looked brighter.

I am so glad to finally have this done. Hopefully the ending wasn't too abrupt and it was up to the usual standards.
