Chapter 37 A Breath of Fresh Air
It's been 8 months since the end of the convergence and 7 since Korra became pregnant and six since it was announced to the whole world when Perseus was finally killed after he was heavily insulted.
Since then the world was reconnecting with the spirts like in Republic City.
For some reason vines started sprouting out in the city covering it in certain areas like the residential area or in Raiko's office. Though that last one people found more amusing since it pissed him off royally.
Right now Sean and Korra were in their home in Republic City with the former waking up finding his wife in his arms making him smile softly.
"Morning." Korra said kissing him as he held her close before lowering himself down and kissed her 7 month pregnant stomach making her giggle as she held it before feeling a kick making her giggle. "I get the feeling this one is gonna be a pro bender when he or she gets out." Korra said.
Both had decided not to go to any of the doctors to tell them the gender wanting it to be a surprise.
After getting up and dressed Korra was eating some food.
"You sure you can't just come with me to the island for the day?" Korra asked.
"Raiko is gonna keep pestering us unless I deal with the vines in the living district. Although I don't see much point. Since the end of the war more people have moved to Republic City which means the work force is higher than ever." Sean said.
That was another thing once the war ended everyone from all over the world began to travel to the four nations and Republic City which made it even more unique seeing new cultures like Greece, Norse and Egypt.
"True. Well...Be careful out there. I don't know whats out there." Korra said kissing him.
"Oh like what? An Unalaq junior?" Sean asked making her slap his shoulder making him laugh. "Relax I'll be fine." Sean said kissing her as they both left.
Meanwhile
Bumi was chasing his Spirit friend before climbing a tree.
"If you don't wanna wear the sweater I made you, Thats fine. I'm sorry I got mad." Bumi said climbing towards but he flew away. "I'm running out of tree here." Bumi said before it began to break.
"Uh oh." Bumi said before it broke making him scream wailing his arms around like crazy before he shockingly airbended.
"What? I'm airbending!" Bumi yelled before crashing down. "Ow. That really hurt like hell."
Meanwhile
Sean, Tenzin, Turok and Jinora walked through an abandoned district with a few Spirits following them.
"Ok now how the hell am I gonna get rid of all this?" Sean asked before taking out his Axe and slammed into one freezing it solid and broke apart only for them to grow right back.
"Well, thats not gonna work." Turok said before turning into a Giant Komodo and tore them off hoping nature was the answer but had the same results.
"Fuck! This is stupid. People are already building new homes and buildings since the work force went up when the war ended. I'm done." Sean said putting his Axe away.
"Raiko is desperate to restore his reputation after word got out about him supporting Unalaq." Tenzin said before they walked out.
"Well, I gotta go to city hall and let people know theres no use trying to clear this stuff out and continue with the new construction project" Sean said using his wings to fly away.
The President was meeting with the press and by the gods who remained pure they were eating him alive.
"Mr President are you concerned your approval ratings are at negative 30 percent while the Avatar and her husband are at a hundred?" One asked making him growl royally pissed off at that.
"Are you concerned that you may be thrown out of office for supporting Unalaq who tried to destroy the world and nearly killed Kruger?"
"Will you resign if the world asks you to?"
"How can you all be so calm about the real issues here? Theres a goddamn tree in my office for gods sakes!" Raiko yelled making people boo at him which pissed him off before Sean landed blowing wind in his face knocking his glasses off which was on purpose.
"Lord Kruger. Are you and your wife gonna support the new construction project?"
"Yes of course. Look I know a lot of you were forced to leave their homes and businesses when these vines sprung up. But you will get them back the construction project is finished in time." Sean said getting an applause while Raiko looked furious seeing he was getting all the attention he believed he deserved. (Anyone wanna say he and Perseus are exactly alike?)
"You and your wife have put the people of Republic City in a difficult position" Raiko said.
"Oh like I need to listen to the bastard who was gonna send his troops to help Unalaq if I didn't let myself be killed by your pathetic hands." Sean said making the crowd boo at Raiko angering him further. "You, Unalaq and Amon are all the same. Self centering bastards who only care about what they want." Sean said.
"Keep talking and I'll have you arrested." Raiko said making him burst out laughing.
"YOU arrest me? For what? Have I committed a crime or you just abusing your power for your own gains again?" Sean mocked as the people booed at Raiko further who growled before trying to punch Sean but he dodged and tripped him making him fall on his face. "You are such a loser. Your just as pathetic as Perseus. Maybe I should do to you what I did to him before killing him." Sean said thinking of all the insults people would throw at him.
"Thats enough." Lin said as Raiko stomped off.
"Fucking asshole. How are the police handling things?" Sean asked.
"So far so good. Raiko is one of the only few people that are having issues with all of this since they can't accept change." Lin said making him scoff .
"Can't say I'm fucking surprised." Sean said before leaving.
Later
Korra and the others were at Air temple island enjoying a nice meal while Bumi was trying to airbend. He said he could earlier but nothing he tried worked..
As they were eating Sean walked in.
"Hey Sean." Korra said as he sat down and kissed her.
"What the Fuck is he doing?" Sean asked about Bumi.
"He says he Airbended earlier. Probably another one of his stupid jokes." Korra said giggling.
"I gotta say, I love being a part of this family. You got the grumpy dad, the wacky uncle. The put-Upon mom, Crazy kids. This is great." Bolin said making them chuckle in amusement
"Where in the hell is Mako I haven't seen him in a while." Sean said.
"He's staying at the police station. I offered him to stay at my place but he said he didn't want to be a burden since we're only dating." Asami said sadly.
"You know how he is with his feelings. He'll come around eventually." Sean said holding Korra close making her smile.
"Did you see that? I think the napkin moved." Bumi said.
"You blew on it." Kya said annoyed.
"Maybe I can only do it when my life is in danger." Bumi said.
"Knock it off." Sean said. "I've had an annoying day because of Raiko and his usual bullshit and you're making it more annoying." Sean said.
"Maybe Bolin could bend some boulders at me." Bumi said.
"Did you constantly hit your head growing up?" Turok asked.
"Yes." Tenzin said.
"I did not!" Bumi said before Meelo threw a plate at him making him yell in surprise before waving his hands around before he actually airbent it.
"I TOLD YOU!" Bumi yelled as everyone was beyond shocked.
"What the fuck." Sean said amazed.
"Unbelievable. Your actually an Airbender." Tenzin said.
"Oh mom! I hope this is you're doing!" Bumi said before it dropped and shattered.
Later
Bumi was trying to airbend again but nothing was happening.
"Do you think being in the spirit world during harmonic convergence could've given him bending?" Korra asked Sean as he held her by the stomach.
"No I don't think it's that simple otherwise any of us could have gotten bending being there." Sean said.
"Maybe uncle Bumi is just a late bloomer...Like Korra was with her airbending." Ikki said making her growl at the reminder.
"Remind me not to invite you to the baby shower next month." Korra said.
"HEH!" Sean said amused.
"I have been noticing a change in your aura lately." Kya said.
"And you didn't tell me?" Bumi asked making her eyes twitch before Lin and Mako walked to them.
"Invisible spirit monster attack?" Lin asked.
"Not even close. Little bastard just started airbending." Sean said.
"He isn't the only one." Reznov said as he, Luke and Julia walked to them.
"What do you mean?" Tenzin asked.
"There have been reports all over the world with people using the power of the elements. Greece, Midgard, Egypt. Even some in Avalar have bending. The whole world has benders now." Luke said shocking them.
"How is that possible?" Korra asked.
"Hmm. Well...This is just a theory but it does make sense. When the Convergence occurred that energy from it must have been unleashed all over the world and add to the fact the armies of the world were there when they returned home also helped spread those energies. Probably creating new benders all over the world." Sean said.
"But why is it only happening now?" Asami asked.
"Delayed reaction maybe? I mean similar things have happened in the past. It took me 8 years for my powers to surface when Korra was attacked by one of Set's minions." Sean said.
"Yeah thats true." Korra said.
"So not only are there new airbenders but also new benders of every element in the world." Tenzin said.
"Yeah." Sean said.
"Speaking of new airbenders Mako ran into one last night. Caused a pretty big disturbance since he had no idea how to control it." Lin said.
"Where is he now?" Tenzin asked.
"He got away. We have an all points bulletin on him right now." Mako said.
After that Sean and Korra went back home so she could rest.
"Can you actually believe It? New airbenders. Now Tenzin and his family won't be the only ones left anymore." Korra said excited.
"Yes. That is a good thing. I'm sure Aang and Katara would have loved to see this." Sean said making her smile softly.
"Yeah. I really wish she was here to see this. She would have been happy." Korra said.
"She's more happy being with her family again." Sean said making her smile as she held him.
Thats when someone knocked at the door making Sean answer it seeing Lin.
"Find our new airbender?" Sean asked.
"No...Raiko is unveiling his statue and wants everyone there." Lin said.
"Statue? For what? He hasn't done anything worth having one." Korra said.
"Thats not how he feels. Just get there." Lin said making them sigh.
Later
Everyone was at the docks for Raiko's statue.
"This is stupid. Hell you deserve an actual statue." Korra said to her husband who snorted in amusement.
"Honey when I have I ever cared about fame at all?" Sean asked making her grin.
"Mmm true. But I still think you deserve one for all the hell we've been through." Korra said making him chuckle before kissing her making her smile as he held her close.
"Now...I would like to show everyone...My statue as your very first and best president of Republic City." Raiko said.
"Best...Sure." Sean said as he pulled the tarp off making everyone widen their eyes before everyone burst out laughing.
"OH MY GOD!" Korra yelled holding her sides confusing Raiko.
"Why are you all...AHHH!" Raiko yelled in horror.
Why you ask?
His statue was dressed as a clown having makeup and what not on.
"AHAHAHAHAHA!" Reznov yelled holding his sides as Luke laughed in amusement.
"Get this off!" Raiko yelled pulling the clown suit off.
Only for him to yell in shock.
"UNDERGARMENTS!" Raiko yelled in horror seeing his statue with a bra and green thong on that said small penis on it.
This made everyone burst out laughing at this amusing display.
"WHO DID THIS!" Raiko yelled in rage.
"Don't know. Maybe its one of the millions of people who hate you." Sean said chuckling.
"YOU DID THIS DIDN'T YOU!" Raiko roared.
"Nope. Wish I did though." Sean said.
"Wish I could have done this with my mates back in the day." Mimir said laughing.
"Thats it! Beifong I am ordering you to arrest him at once! You made a mockery of me!" Raiko said.
"I didn't even know about the statue till Lin told us. How could I do this?" Sean asked.
"I don't care! Arrest him!" Raiko roared.
"He didn't do it. I did." Turok said making them face him.
"You?" Sean asked amused.
"I found out from Jinora and I did this." Turok said.
"Arrest him! And prepare him to be publicly executed!" Raiko yelled.
"For what? Pulling a simple prank. You make it sound like you deserve this statue. What have you done to deserve it?" Sean asked.
"I am the first president of Republic City. Truly I deserve a bigger statue like Aang's!" Raiko yelled making people boo him which pissed him off.
Thats when the ground began to shake making everyone look around.
"Now what?" Sean asked annoyed before something started coming out of the water in a huge form.
"Please tell me this is not another Titan." Korra asked concerned.
"Nope...This is something a little worse." Sean said as it turned into a giant monster that roared into the air.
"It's the Kraken." Reznov said as it glared at them.
"I'm willing to bet Ra sent this thing after us." Luke said.
"Yup." Sean said before he pulled out Medusa's head before Raiko grabbed it.
"Oh no you don't! If anyone is going to kill this monster and receive the glory it's me!" Raiko yelled.
"LET GO YOU IDIOT!" Sean yelled before it flew into Raiko's wife's hands.
"Dear?"
Only for her to look into the head's eyes making it hiss as the snakes moved around making her gasp as she turned to stone.
"NO!" Raiko yelled in horror.
"Idiot." Sean said grabbing the head as the Kraken roared at them about to strike. "LOOK AT THIS MOTHER FUCKER!" Sean yelled as he aimed the head at the Kraken who looked into the eyes before slowly it turned to stone as it tried to crush them but the hand stopped above them before it began to crack apart.
"EVERYONE RUN!" Reznov yelled as Sean picked Korra up before flying away as the Stone Kraken broke apart and fell on Raiko's Statue and his wife.
"NOO! MY STATUE!" Raiko yelled in horror.
"Wow. He cries about his statue instead of his wife. I'm surprised he was even married." Sean said making Korra nod.
Later
"Well...I kinda feel sorry for his wife since I don't think she deserved that." Korra said as they sat outside.
"Maybe not. But it was his fault. I'm not into glory. I just want to finish the job and live a normal life with you and the baby and any other kids we have." Sean said making her smile at that thought.
"You know...When Ra and Zeus are actually defeated...What are you gonna do with all that power?" Korra asked.
"I don't know. I still have to find out who corrupted them so I can't just release them out of fear it might happen again." Sean said.
"Yeah...Thats true." Korra said before Sean chuckled.
"But when this is all over and done with...I know I'm going to enjoy every single day I have with you and our kids." Sean said making her smile as she held her pregnant stomach where her first child was growing.
"You think...Maybe the world won't need us so much since the world is coming together for the first time in 10,000 years?" Korra asked.
"Maybe. Only time can tell." Sean said holding her close.
Thats when Bolin rushed to them.
"Mako Just called. The cops found the new airbender guy. But when they tried to bring him in, He ran away and climbed to the top of Kyoshi bridge and he won't come down." Bolin said before seeing the two. "Oh did I ruin a special moment?" Bolin asked.
"We're ok." Sean said as the three left.
Dojo flew them to the bridge before they landed and saw Lin trying to talk him down.
"I'll handle this." Sean said flying upwards to him.
"You look to be in good spirits ." Tenzin said to Korra who smiled.
"Yeah. Just focusing on the good future ahead of us." Korra said before Sean managed to get the guy to come down using his wings to get them down making the crowd cheer.
"That was quick." Tenzin said.
"Wasn't that hard." Sean tried to say.
"Is this the deal now? We have a crisis every day because of you?" Raiko asked approaching them.
"Look pal. Your one of the only few who are having issues..." Korra tried to say before he attempted to punch her in the stomach but Sean stopped him making everyone gasp in shock while Korra widened her eyes at what he tried to do.
"You would dare strike a pregnant woman?" Sean asked royally pissed off before letting go.
"If she was pregnant with humans no. She's carrying future freaks of nature like you!" Raiko said.
"How dare you." Korra said holding her stomach.
"You two have caused me nothing but trouble since you got here!" Raiko yelled.
"Really? So saving the city from Amon is our fault! Saving the entire world is our fault when you tried to help Unalaq!" Korra yelled.
"I certainly hope that thing inside you dies the second it comes out!" Raiko roared making Korra gasp in shock holding her stomach protectively while everyone glared.
"You better watch what you say!" Sean yelled having his blades out.
"Oh no...I have something better. Officers I am ordering you to arrest this monster and take his wife to the clinic to force her into an abortion at once." Raiko said shocking them.
"You don't have that kind of authority and you can't force someone to do that!" Sean yelled.
"I am the president of Republic City. My word is law." Raiko said.
"Is it now?" Athena asked behind him making him gasp in shock.
"Lady Athena." Raiko said.
"You would dare harm my son and his unborn child? You do not deserve your title nor position. You are a true demon in human flesh. And you will be punished." Athena said as her hands glowed before a strange mark appeared on Raiko's forehead making him yell in pain.
"What is this?" Raiko asked.
"This is a mark of cruelty and inhumanity. I reserve this for the very worst of mankind. Every time you try to harm my son and his family it will cause agonizing pain. Every time you try to make plans to harm them it will harm you greatly. You even think of anything negative about them you will be in pain. And when you die...Your soul will be sentenced to the depths of the underworld to be tortured every single second of your pathetic existence...Unless you change your ways." Athena said horrifying him as she vanished.
"Yikes. Theres a fate worse than death." Sean said
"Aye." Mimir said as Raiko ran off while Sean held Korra close.
"I don't wanna stay here anymore as long as he's around. I think we should go home." Korra said thinking of the safety of her baby.
"Mmm. How bout we go looking for the new air benders. It'll give you something positive to focus on." Sean said making her smile as she kissed him.
"Don't think I'm not going with you two." Tenzin said making them smile. "It's so exciting. who knows who's out there right now, discovering the gift of airbending for the first time?" Tenzin said. (For God's sakes. Every time someone says something like that bad things happen! STOP SAYING SHIT LIKE THAT!)
Meanwhile
On tall mountain a bridge was being extended to it before members of the White Lotus appeared with one holding food. (Another thought had occurred to me why didn't they help Korra when this shit started? It was their job to stop them and they did nothing!)
On this mountain was a special cell before the front was metal bended open.
Inside was none other than Zaheer who had changed in the last 15 years since his battle with Sean's father Kratos who defeated him and his friends so easily before he finally joined his wife in guiding their son to who he was now.
"You know the drill, Zaheer."
"Of course." Zaheer said facing the wall with his hands behind his head.
"I hope you still like Rice."
"Tell me...Have you ever read the poetry of the great airbending Guru Laghima?" Zaheer asked.
"What?"
"Guru Laghima lived 4,000 years ago in the northern air temple. It is said he unlocked the secret of weightlessness and became untethered from the Earth, living his final 40 years without ever touching the ground." Zaheer said
"Is that how you plan to escape, with something you picked up from an old airbender children's story?"
"Tell me...Both the Avatar and the God slayer...Whats become of them?" Zaheer asked making him snort.
"You've asked about them for 15 years. Since you're not getting out I don't see the harm in telling you. They're married now and they're expecting."
"Are they?" Zaheer asked.
"15 years is a long time. Not that it matters since your not getting out of here. And even if you could you wouldn't be able to beat him alone being a non-bender."
"Who said I was a non-Bender anymore?" Zaheer asked before he airbent him to the bars before dashing to him with quick speeds.
"WHAT! How! Your not an Airbender!" As his fellow White Lotus got ready.
"Nature is changing like the wind!" Zaheer yelled freeing himself before using airbending to force them inside before locking them in. "The end of White Lotus is coming. And soon we will have control over the God Slayer and the Avatar." Zeheer said jumping down the mountain using his new found powers.
Authors Note: Here we go again. So Raiko is even worse here than the last two stories. And he'll only get worse when the next story which I remind people is a Legendary Godzilla crossover begins and then the next one which I am proud to say will finally be a harem story. I think everyone is gonna love that one a lot. Anyway I'm gonna spend my weekend working on a two or three story update. I tried last weekend but my internet was having some issues.
