Chapter 41 Old wounds
Everyone was in the dining hall eating breakfast.
"Hey, has anyone seen Chief Beifong?" Mako asked.
"She's probably off sulking in her room or some other dumb shit as Usual." Korra said.
"I don't doubt it." Sean said.
"I know she has a problem with me, but she had no right to yell at Opal last night." Suyin said.
Thats when the Twins rushed in.
"All set for your power disc game today, boys?" Suyin asked.
"All set to Kick Wei's butt." Win said taking an apple from him.
"I'm gonna power disk your face." Wei said punching him as he ate the apple making him choke.
"So Korra how is your metal bending?" Suyin asked.
"I'm actually not a metal bender." Korra said.
"Really? Lin never offered to train you?" Suyin asked.
"Nope, and I guess I never thought to bring it up because I was learning to airbend then Pro bending and fighting the Equalist and then spirit bending fighting in a war and then this." Korra said holding her pregnant stomach.
"It's been a couple busy years." Sean said making Korra grin.
"As the Avatar, you should have mastery over all the elements. I'd be happy to show you the basics." Suyin said.
"In my condition? Is that safe?" Korra asked concerned.
"Of course. I still did it when I was pregnant with my kids. Don't worry we'll make sure we don't over do it." Suyin said.
"Well?" Korra asked Sean.
"It's better to be prepared than not. Lets just make sure we take it easy." Sean said.
"Aye." Mimir said.
"Yeah last thing we need is..." Dojo tried to say before he turned to Jade.
"Whoa! What just happened?" Wei asked picking him up.
"Oh I cast that spell on him when he runs his mouth. Which is a lot." Sean said.
"You should try metal bending too." Opal said to Bolin who choked on his food.
"Uh, Nah, I'm more of an Earth Guy." Bolin said.
"Well, let me know when you change your mind." Suyin said.
"I think..." Sean tried to say before something powerful started pulling everything metal...Including him since he had his armor on. "WHA!" Sean yelled het got pulled into some metal suit as everything hit him.
The person in the armor was none other than Varrick.
"It worked. Zhu Li mark that down." Varrick said.
"Varrick." Sean said beyond the words of annoyed.
"Kruger? What the heck are you doing on my suit? GET OFF YOU IDIOT!" Varrick yelled making him glare.
"I HAVE MY ARMOR ON YOU FUCKING IDIOT!" Sean roared making him blink.
"Oh." Varrick said deactivating his suit.
And Sean jumped him before punching him in the face a few times.
"I'M GONNA FUCKING KILL YOU! YOU FUCKING SON OF A BITCH!" Sean roared making everyone burst out laughing. (Ah I love seeing this)
"Ok thats enough." Korra said pulling him out as Varrick moaned in pain.
"Zhu Li...Pain killers please?" Varrick begged making her snicker lightly.
"Yes sir." Zhu Li said leaving. (I still feel bad for her)
"GRRR! I hate that dude." Sean said as they sat down.
"Relax." Korra said taking a knife out of his palm before he healed instantly. "We just gotta deal with him for 2 more month." Korra said.
"Your not making this better." Sean said before she kissed him.
"Are you sure?" Korra teased making him smile lightly before holding her close.
Meanwhile
Lin was not looking good as she walked out looking sick before seeing two guards messing around making her glare before she approached them.
"What do you two think you're doing? Get back to work!" Lin barked.
"Is there a problem?" Aiwei asked walking to her.
"Kruger and Korra are in danger, and these two Idiots are just standing around chitchatting." Lin said.
"Not to worry. Zaofu is one of the most secure cities in the world." Aiwei said.
"I'll be the judge of that. I'm going to check every inch of this place." Lin said.
"Lin, you do not have to work while you are here. You need to relax." Aiwei said.
"I am perfectly fine!" Lin snapped before groaning.
"Even I don't need to be a truth seer to know you are under a dangerous amount of stress that will make you sick. If you don't deal with your repressed feelings, There will be severe consequiences to your health and your job." Aiwei said.
"I don't need to talk about my feelings." Lin said.
"You won't have to say a word. I know a great acupuncturist in town who will be able to help you." Aiwei said giving her a card making her sigh as she took it and left.
Meanwhile
Zaheer and his group were in Republic City with the Police after them.
"Seems like you made quite a stir on air temple island. The Cops are swarming the city looking for us." P'li said.
"You still want to try to take out the president?" Ghazan asked.
"No. He'll have to wait. We leave today." Zaheer said before a gold flame appeared.
"The hell?" P'li asked before the last Egyptian God Ra appeared.
"Ra? God of the Sun." Zaheer said.
"Greetings mortals." Ra said. "I have a proposition for you." Ra said.
"What do you want?" Ming-Hua asked.
"As you are no doubt aware Kruger has become very powerful. So powerful that all of our attempts to destroy him have failed. Only a few things remain and there are only 3 gods left. Myself, Zeus and another who is a minor God. Everything we have tried to do to stop him has failed." Ra said.
"We're aware. Whats your point?" Zaheer asked.
"I want you four to eliminate him." Ra said.
"Is that so?" P'li asked.
"You tried to kill him 15 years ago. You failed because of Kratos." Ra said.
"You think we forgot?" Ming-Hua asked looking at her severed arms.
"I will provide you with whatever you need to accomplish your goals. All I ask is you kill him before he kills me and Zeus. He's already killed Odin one of the strongest next to Zeus and myself. If what I have sent fails...I will have to defeat him myself or Zeus himself." Ra said.
"We will...Consider your offer." Zaheer said before Ra vanished.
"They must be desperate. Asking us to help." Ghazan said.
"Very." Zaheer said.
Meanwhile
Lin was at the Acupuncturist laying on her back as needles flew above her.
"How many of those damn things are you gonna stick in me?" Lin asked.
"I'll be placing several of these needles on each of your acupoints. Theres nothing to be scared about."
"Do I look like I'm afraid of needles." Lin said
"Please close your eyes and take a deep breath."
Lin did as asked before the needles went in.
"This process will correct the imbalances in your chi. Please tell me if your feel any pain or pressure."
"No...I don't feel a thing." Lin said.
"Thats unusual. Your Chi must be powerfully blocked. We will require more needles."
Soon more entered her body.
"Acupuncture often taps into people's buried memories. These memories can sometimes often be difficult to process depending on what that memory is."
Lin scoffed at this.
"Buried memories, Whatever." Lin said before she started to do just that.
Flashback 30 years ago
Suyin and some boys were in her living room when Lin walked in.
"Su, why are you Home?" Lin asked.
"Wow. You almost look like a real cop." Suyin said laughing.
"You were supposed to be in school." Lin said.
"Oh, no. Are you gonna tell mom? You really think she cares?" Suyin asked.(I am seriously surprised by this. I never would have thought Suyin was such a spoiled brat now someone so responsible in her current age)
Lin then noticed one of the boys putting riches in a bag.
"Where'd you get that stuff?" Lin asked.
"Uh, fell off the back of a truck."
"What are you doing hanging out with these losers?" Lin asked.
"They're my friends, and you have no right to call them that! Come on, guys, let's get out of here." Suyin said grabbing the bag as she tried to leave but Lin grabbed her.
"Su, stop!" Lin yelled but she smacked her hand away.
"Get off me!" Suyin said.
"You have so much potential. You're ruining your life." Lin said.
"At least I have a life." Suyin said leaving making her frown.
End Flashback
Lin started sweating as she remembered these events.
Meanwhile
Sean and Korra followed Suyin out back to a display area seeing strange rocks.
"These are Meteorites. Perfect for beginning metelbenders." Suyin said taking a piece and demonstrated perfectly.
"Thats amazing." Korra said before Suyin tossed her it.
"Here, Try it." Suyin said.
"Try to not overdo it." Sean said making her smile before kissing him.
"Don't worry. I did this plenty of times when I was pregnant and it never hurt them." Suyin said.
"I'm not so sure about that considering how your second oldest creeps me out at times." Sean said making her giggle.
"Aye. Even for me the lad creeps me out." Mimir said.
"Your telling me." Dojo said around Sean's neck.
"Thats just who he is. You get used to it. What is it called? Artistic expression." Suyin said.
"Through Metal?" Mimir asked making her giggle before Korra began to concentrate.
"Focus on the fine pieces of earth within the metal." Suyin said as Korra concentrated before she started doing it.
"I can't believe it. I'm metal bending." Korra said excited.
"And my wife is the first metal bending Avatar." Sean said making her grin.
"Sean? I don't suppose you can bend like her?" Suyin asked.
"I may have Raava's powers and connected to her like Korra but no. I can't bend. Something she often teased me about when we were kids." Sean said making her giggle sheepishly.
"I couldn't help it back then. But now you have powers of Gods and almost no one can defeat you with blades." Korra said.
"True." Sean said.
Meanwhile
Lin continued to sit on her back as her mind remembered events from 30 years ago she tried to forget about.
Flashback 30 years ago.
"Calling all units. Robbery reported on the corner of Fifth and harbor. Suspects vehicle headed south on Hao Boulevard. Units responding, identify."
Lin grabbed her radio.
"Unit three responding." Lin said before she spotted the criminals and chased after them before she quickly used her metalbending cables to stop them.
Thats when two of them tried to run off but Lin stopped them before she pulled them to her.
"Wait a second. You two losers are the ones with Su this morning." Lin said.
"Leave them alone."
Lin widened her eyes seeing Suyin in the car who also saw her.
"Su?" Lin asked in shock.
End Flashback
Lin gasped as she launched the needles everywhere before getting up.
"Wait! Leaving in the middle of a session could make you sick."
"I'm done here." Lin said leaving while groaning.
Later
Lin sat in her room holding her head before the door opened up.
"Are you gonna stay in your room feeling sorry for yourself all day?"
Lin turned seeing a younger Suyin before shaking her head before she saw Korra and Sean.
"You owe Opal and Apology for the way you treated her last night." Korra sad.
"Lin? Are you ok?" Sean asked seeing her.
"Yeah you don't look good." Korra said.
"I'm fine." Lin said leaving.
"The Fuck has gotten into her?" Sean asked making Korra shrug.
Lin barged back into the treatment room.
"What did you do to me?" Lin asked.
"I told you it would make you sick if you left early."
Soon Lin was back on the table resuming her treatment.
Flashback 30 years ago
Lin smashed her fist into her car.
"So you're robbing stores with the Terra Triad now?" Lin asked.
"I didn't steal anything. I just drove the car cause I owed them a favor. Big deal." Suyin said.
"Have you lost your mind? You could be putting a huge strain on Mom's job. I'm not gonna let you get away with this." Lin said making her laugh.
"Oh, what are you going to do, officer, arrest me?" Suyin asked turning to leave.
"Don't even think about taking one more step! I mean it!" Lin said but she did anyway before Lin used her metal bending to restrain her but she cut the line But in doing so made it come back at Lin and cut her cheek making her scream in pain making Suyin widen her eyes in shock. (I always wondered how she got that.)
End Flashback
Lin shuddered as she kept remembering.
Meanwhile
Bolin whistled as he grabbed some metal meteorite before trying to metal bend it.
Of course he was clearly having issues if his annoyed look was any indication.
"Hey, Bolin." Opal said startling him.
"Opal! Oh. Wow. You really know how to sneak up on someone." Bolin said with the metal behind him.
"What are you doing?" Opal asked.
"Oh, nothing, you know, just...Thinking about my body and mustaches that I might have in the future." Bolin said trying to put it back but dropped it.
"Your acting weird again." Opal said.
"Sorry. I wasn't really thinking about all my mustaches. I'm just really frustrated. I've been trying to metal bend, and I can't figure it out. Don't tell anyone, okay?" Bolin asked.
"Why would you be frustrated?" Opal asked.
"Because it's embarrassing. This isn't the first time I've tried this before. I mean, I've been wanting to metalbend ever since I heard about Toph when I was a little kid. Your grandmother is my biggest hero because of the things she did." Bolin said.
"My mom grew up learning from Toph just like Lin did. Just go train with her. Stop being so scared." Opal said.
"You know what? Maybe I am scared, but what about you? I know you want to go to the Northern Air Temple to train with Tenzin and the others, but you haven't done it because you're afraid too." Bolin said.
"You know what? You're not wrong on that. I don't want to leave my family and disappoint my mom." Opal said.
Meanwhile
Lin continued to sit down as she entered the final parts of the memory.
Flashback 30 years ago
"What in the world were you both thinking? You two have put me in an impossible position." Toph said to her daughters.
"Why are you made at me? She's the one who was running around with criminals and did this to my face." Lin said glaring at Suyin while having a patch on her cheek.
"It was an accident! You didn't have to do that!" Suyin said.
"I was doing my job!" Lin yelled.
"QUIET! All right heres what we're going to do. Su, you need to leave the city as soon as possible." Toph said.
"What? Where am I supposed to go?" Suyin asked.
"You'll go stay with your grandparents. Lin, give me the arrest report." Toph said getting her to do that before Toph sighed as she tore it apart shocking her. (You know it's actually funny that Toph was Chief of Police considering her younger years)
"Mom, what are you doing? You can't cover this up. There were witnesses." Lin said.
"I'm the Chief of Police. I can't have a daughter in jail. That will make things more complicated for me." Toph said.
"So, once again, she gets to do whatever she wants, and there are no consequences." Lin said ticked off as Toph held her head.
"This is our only option." Toph said.
End Flashback
After that the needles came out.
"You're going to feel a bit fragile, so it's probably best if you take it easy for a little while."
Thats when Lin sat up.
"I don't need to rest. It's time I did something I should have a long time ago." Lin said.
Meanwhile
Korra continued to use metalbending now having it down real good.
"I'm so proud of you." Sean said making Korra smile as she kissed him.
"Too bad the baby when he or she gets older can't use all four elements like me. I would love to teach him or her everything like I can." Korra said making him smirk.
"I might have a solution for that." Sean said making her grin before the ground began to shake making them look seeing Lin who looked pissed.
"Uh oh." Mimir said.
"Oh boy." Dojo said hiding.
"Su, it's time we talk." Lin said looking angry.
"After 30 years, you're finally ready to talk?" Suyin asked.
"When we were in Mom's office that day, you could have taken responsibility for what you did, but instead you stayed quiet and let mom throw her whole career away." Lin said.
"Mom didn't throw her career away. She retired the next year. She was a hero." Suyin said.
"You think she wanted to retire? She was so guilt-ridden about what she did to protect you, she didn't feel worthy of her badge." Lin said.
"Look, I admit that I was not a perfect kid and I've made some mistakes in the past, but.." Suyin tried to say but Lin just scoffed.
"You made some mistakes?" Lin questioned.
"Lin, Mom and I already talked about this years ago and worked things out. If you had gotten together with us like we'd asked, you would know that I'm a different person now. I've been a different person for a long time." Suyin said.
"You think just because you live in a big, fancy house and have a chef who cooks you fancy food that you're a different person? You can say it all you like but you're still the same little brat I remember 30 years ago." Lin said and Suyin looked hurt by that remark.
"Lin thats going too far. Now I don't..." Sean tried to say before Lin earthbended him into a wall making Korra gasp as she ran to her husband who stood up. "Ok That was really annoying." Sean said dusting himself off like nothing happened.
"This isn't going to end well is it? Knowing Lin and her temper." Korra said as Sean Picked her up before flying off.
"You know what Lin? You're the one who hasn't changed. You're still a bitter loner who only cares about herself. No wonder Tenzin ended things with you years ago." Suyin said.
"Oh shit." Sean said before the two of them started fighting.
"Um you gonna stop them?" Korra asked.
"Better they fight here than in the city where they would destroy the damn place in minutes." Sean said as Lin was launched into a wall as Sean landed and set Korra down.
"You got it out of your system?" Suyin asked.
"Not quite yet!" Lin said as they were about to continue when Opal used her airbending to blow them back.
"What are you two doing? You're sisters! Why would you want to hurt each other?" Opal asked before Lin started to collapse had Sean not dashed to her.
"Lin?" Sean said concerned.
Next Day
"Well what do you know." Sean said as they saw Lin and Suyin talking peacefully.
"I guess siblings just need to air out their differences." Korra said.
"Turok and I never needed to do that." Sean said as they walked to them.
"So we finally good?" Korra asked.
"We're ok." Lin said before they heard a hissing sound.
"What was that?" Suyin asked.
"I have been waiting for you...Kruger." A female voice said.
"Oh no." Sean said annoyed before a large Green Gorgon came out and attacked him making him dodged before he looked at this new Gorgon who was Medusa's sister. Euryale.
"What the hell is that?" Suyin asked as her guards approached.
"Euryale. Medusa's sister. One of the strongest Gorgons." Sean said before she attacked him but he dodged before wrapping his chains around her before throwing her outside before following her.
"Ugh. She's just as ugly as Medusa." Korra said.
Sean roared as he grabbed Euryale by the tailed before slamming her down a few times hard making her roar in pain.
"Your no match for me with." Sean said making her roar before trying to blast him but he used the Golden Fleece to deflect her attack before pulling out the Blade of Ares and started slashing her making her roar in pain before pulling out Sokka's sword and jumped to her head.
"GET OFF!" Euryale roared before Sean started pulling her before cutting her head right off just like her sister.
"Well that was...Unique." Suyin said.
"Sorry about that. The Gods are getting desperate to kill me so they sent her. She's hardly worth the trouble." Sean said. (But she's a better challenge than Perseus thats for sure)
Meanwhile
Zaheer and his group were outside the city after escaping the cops as he sat in a meditative state.
"We should have grabbed someone before we left to tell us where the Avatar and the God Slayer is." Ming-Hua said.
"We'll know soon enough." P'li said as Zaheer opened his eyes.
"The Avatar and God Slayer are with the Metal clan." Zaheer said.
