Chapter 43 The Stakeout
Sean and the others arrived in an old town before Naga started sniffing the ground for Aiwei.
"Son of a bitch has definitely been through here. Nice work, girl." Sean said petting Naga before he got off before they went into a bar.
"Oooh." Bolin said seeing posters of all of them on the wall. "We're famous here. Better go say hi to my fans." Bolin said before Sean bonked him on the head hard. (I feel like those movies made him a bit arrogant...Well maybe a little more since he tried to show off for Korra in the beginning)
"Those aren't regular posters you dumbass." Sean said.
"Those are wanted posters. For all of us." Luke
"Oh...Sorry." Bolin said before Sean snatched one with his wife and read it.
"Wanted for taking the future husband of the queen and will pay handsomely for termination along with her unborn child? MOTHERFUCKER!" Sean roared in rage.
"Oh boy." Asami said before some bounty hunters appeared behind him.
"So wheres your wife?" One asked before Sean's eyes turned blood red glowing making them gasp in shock and ran off in fear. (Sora he has done this on several occasions when he's really mad. PAY ATTENTION! You have the worst memory and attention span unlike everyone else seriously)
"The next time I fucking see that whore...I'm gonna turn her to stone and put her on display for everyone to see!" Sean yelled smashing a wall making the whole place crumble apart. "Whoops." Sean said.
"I think you're taking after your dad when it comes to rage." Asami said.
"Maybe." Sean said as they left.
Heading back on Aiwei's scent Naga started sniffing.
"What is it girl?" Sean asked before getting off and saw a large rock before slamming his axe into it making it crumble apart before finding Aiwei's jeep making him smirk.
Thats when Naga nudged him making him face her before he realized.
"Oh fuck I forgot to bring treats. How bout this? When we get back I'll make that nice special treat you get after your trips to the Vet?" Sean asked making her look excited before licking his face making him chuckle. "Good girl." Sean said.
"This must be Aiwei's jeep. He can't have gone far." Asami said.
"Bolin, Luke and I will investigate the misty palms oasis and see if he's hold up there." Mako said.
"Yes, I love it when you talk like a cop." Bolin said.
"Asami and I will wait here incase he comes back so we can ambush him." Sean said.
"Right." Mako said as he and Bolin went into town.
Later
Sean looked at his Axe before glaring at it and threw it at a rock before it turned to ice and broke apart
"WHOA! Watch it!" Asami said avoiding getting hit as she searched the Jeep.
"Sorry." Sean said putting it on his back.
"Are you gonna be ok? I've never seen you so pissed off before" Asami said.
"Ah. I just don't understand. Why were they after both of us? Me I can understand but why her? What do they want Korra for?" Sean asked as she searched the jeep before finding a piece of paper.
"I don't know the why, but I think I found a clue." Asami said handing it to him.
"Xai Bau's grove, sundown. I'll bet thats where and when Aiwei's going to meet Zaheer." Sean said before pulling out a map. "Question is where is that?" Sean asked before spirts started swarming them. "Fuck off!" Sean yelled swatting them away.
"We found Aiwei hiding in an inn." Mako said approaching them.
"Nice work. We found something while you two were gone. It looks like he's going to meet Zaheer at sundown at a place called Xai Bau's grove." Sean said.
"But we can't find it anywhere on the map." Asami said holding it.
"I say we just bust down the door and interrogate him to given up Zaheer's location. This whole thing has Korra on edge being afraid for the life of our baby" Sean said pissed off.
"Look I get it your worried about them. But we have to play it smart. Once Aiwei knows we're on to him, we'll lose our only advantage. I say we stake out his room and when he leaves for this meeting, we follow him." Luke said.
"As long as it leads me to Zaheer...I'm up for anything ." Sean said.
Meanwhile
Korra sighed as she laid on the couch holding her stomach in worry for her child's life.
After Sean left Suyin had tippled the guard around her to make sure she was safe incase Zaheer tried to pull something.
Thats when someone entered through the door making her sigh.
"I don't need a stupid report. Go away." Korra said.
"I could always come back later."
Korra widened her eyes before sitting up seeing her mother.
"Mom!" Korra yelled rushing to her and pulled her into a hug making her smile.
"I'm so happy you're safe. Your father and I were told by Lin what happened last night." Senna said making her sigh.
"Yeah I know. Zaheer tried to go after me but Athena stopped him. I don't understand why they keep coming after me." Korra said.
"Don't worry they won't get near you again." Senna said sitting down with her.
"Its just...This was supposed to be a simple thing for both of us. Now it's turned into a nightmare." Korra said holding her stomach.
"I promise everything is gonna be fine." Senna said before the others walked in.
"Korra." Tonraq said sitting next to her as he held her.
"By the way...Theres something you need to know." Senna said.
"What is it?" Korra asked.
"Eska and Desna are dead." Tonraq said making her look at him.
"And you actually think I care after that stunt they pulled?" Korra asked. (Sora why else do you think I kept them around? You think I would pass up the chance to have them killed?)
"I know you hold a grudge but they didn't deserve to die the way they did." Tonraq said.
"Whats that mean?" Korra asked.
"Ming-Hua crushed their heads." Tonraq said.
"Oh. Yikes." Korra said. (Thats a suitable punishment if you ask me.)
"So where is Sean?" Senna asked not seeing him.
"He went after Zaheer." Korra said.
"What?" Tonraq asked.
"Hey after last night he was really concerned. You try stopping him when he's pissed off." Korra said.
"Can't fault him for that one. Especially in your condition." Reznov said.
Meanwhile
Sean and the others waited in a small hotel room as it was almost sundown and Aiwei was not moving.
"It's almost Sundown. Why the hell hasn't that fucker left yet" Sean asked.
"Maybe he slipped out when you weren't looking." Asami said.
"No he's there." Mako said before Sean rushed out with his Blades. "Sean Wait!" Mako yelled before Sean kicked down the door.
"Ok that explains things a lot better now." Sean said seeing him in a mediative state. "He's not leaving to meet with Zaheer. He's in the Spirit world to meet with him. Thats actually pretty clever. So thats what those spirits from earlier were trying to tell us." Sean said to Asami before getting on the bed before doing the same position. "I'm going in after him. At the very least I can learn what Zaheer is up to." Sean said.
"We'll watch him in case he wakes up." Mako said as Sean concentrated.
Sean opened his eyes finding himself in the Spirit world.
Looking around he found Aiwei making him snarl lightly about to confront him when Zaheer appeared making him rethink of attacking.
"What happened back at Zaofu? You told me we wouldn't have any problems getting the Avatar and the god Slayer." Zaheer said.
"Apparently his mother sent him a vision of what we were up to. I could not have anticipated that. There are still many unknown variables when it comes to the God Slayer." Aiwei said.
"Because of you, we've all been compromised." Zaheer said.
"No, Every piece of evidence was destroyed when my library burned." Aiwei said.
"Where is your physical body right now?" Zaheer asked approaching him.
"At the Mist Palms inn. But there is no need to worry. I was not followed I made sure of that." Aiwei said.
"You left a loose end." Zaheer said.
"I assure you no one knows anything about us I made sure of that." Aiwei said.
"No, you are the loose end." Zaheer said grabbing him.
"ZAHEER!" Sean roared making him face him before vanishing.
Zaheer and Aiwei appeared in the fog of lost souls before Zaheer threw him in making him scream. (I think he deserved worse)
Sean snarled looking around before he re-appeared again.
"It seems Aiwei was mistaken. He was followed." Zaheer said.
"Yeah. I knew he would lead me to you so we could settle this. Now where is he?" Sean asked.
"He'll be spending an eternity in the fog of lost souls. A place your mother built for the very worst in this world." Zaheer said sitting down.
"DON'T FUCKING MOVE!" Sean roared.
"Neither of us can use our abilities or physically harm each other. Theres no need for aggression. I'll answer whatever questions you have. I at least owe you that much." Zaheer said making him frown.
"Who the hell are you people? And why do you keep coming after me and Korra?" Sean asked.
"We are part of a secret society dedicated to restoring freedom to the entire world. We are the Red Lotus." Zaheer said.
"Red Lotus? Like the White Lotus?" Sean asked.
"We are what the White Lotus was meant to be, but after the hundred year war, the white Lotus lost its true purpose. It's members came out of hiding and openly served the Avatar." Zaheer said.
"What was the original purpose?" Sean asked.
"For one we were never meant to serve corrupt nations and governments like the current ones do now. So a great man named Xai Bau broke from the White Lotus and began his own society." Zaheer said.
"The Red Lotus. Why did you try to kidnap us 15 years ago? I don't see why." Sean said.
"That was Unalaq's idea." Zaheer.
"Why am I not fucking surprised! What did he tell you to kill me! Say I was a threat to the natural Order?" Sean questioned.
"Yes. But that was not what we were going to do." Zaheer said surprising him.
Meanwhile
Zaheer sat in a mediative state while the others sat around.
"Kruger. Misty Palms Inn. Find him." Zaheer said.
"You two go. I'll stay here and make sure Zaheer's body is safe." P'li said making them run off.
Back in the Spirit world
"I met Unalaq when I was a teenager after we had both joined the Red Lotus. We learned about Raava and Vaatu and how Avatar Wan foolishly severed them, disrupting the balance of the world forever." Zaheer said.
"Nothing ever happens by mere chance like that. It was no coincidence that he did that when we arrived. Things are meant to happen for a reason. And 10,000 years later it's no accident I met Korra the next Avatar and later married her and now have a kid on the way." Sean said.
"I won't deny that at all." Zaheer said.
"So if Unalaq sent you guys after me and Korra why didn't you say anything? Or more importantly why didn't you tell Tonraq and the others who I was if you already knew?" Sean asked.
"The Chief of the Northern Water Tribe sends a group of men to kidnap his niece the Avatar and ordered us to kill a boy who was known as the God Slayer? Even you wouldn't believe that if you were anyone else." Zaheer said making him groan.
"Ok thats fair. But why didn't you tell them about me if you knew? Were you afraid?" Sean asked.
"Not at all. If they went looking for answers the other gods might have learned about you being alive which would make things difficult. That was not what we wanted." Zaheer said.
"And exactly what did you want from us?" Sean asked.
"What we wanted was the opposite from what Unalaq had ordered. We wanted to train you to use your powers to help kill the gods that had been corrupted. But not just because they were corrupted. Our reasons were to restore true balance. And with the Red Lotus instructing you both we could have taught you two so much." Zaheer said.
"Sounds like you wanted to brainwash us no different than Unalaq did to Korra for his own selfish purposes." Sean said.
"His reasons were selfish. While yes we wanted to free Vaatu but our mission was never to create a dark Avatar. That was all his idea. He betrayed us and left us to rot for 15 years after your father stopped us." Zaheer said.
"Fucking Shocker." Sean said. (Honestly even when he's dead he's still proven to be even worse than when he was alive)
"All we wanted to do was show the Avatar a better path. And for you to restore true balance." Zaheer said.
"I don't think our ideas are the same." Sean said.
"Are you so sure about that?" Zaheer asked making him raise an eyebrow.
Meanwhile
Sean still in his meditation sat on the bed as the others watched over him.
However Mako looked outside seeing Ming-Hua and Ghazan walking around.
"Uh, I don't know how, But Water arm lady and Lava guy found us." Mako said.
"How?" Asami asked.
"I just said I don't know how." Mako said before Bolin shook Sean.
"Sean, come on, wake up." Bolin said but nothing happened.
"What do we do?" Asami asked.
"Get Sean out of here." Luke said as he and Bolin lifted him up and put him on Naga. "Bolin, Mako and I will hold them off." Luke said.
"Oh Kruger." Ming-Huya sang. "Where are you? I just wanna play...And rip off your arms like your old man did mine!" Ming-Hua roared.
"You seriously have some issues ." Ghazan said making her Glare before a door opened up and Naga rushed out with Sean and Asami.
"KRUGER!" Ming-Hua roared about to chase them but Mako fire bent at them making her growl.
Meanwhile
"You agreed with your wife to keep the spirit portals open, But why stop there? Bringing the spirits back should only be the beginning." Zaheer said.
"And just the hell does that mean? I swear if this some world domination bullshit..." Sean tried to say
"No. I don't believe in that nonsense and it never works anyway. The Idea of having nations and governments is as foolish as keeping the human and spirit realms separate. You've had to deal with a moronic president who despises you for selfish reasons. And a tyrannical queen who tried to eliminate your wife and unborn child and kidnap the new airbenders to use them for her own gains and the new queen who believes the world should be hers for whatever she wants." Zaheer said.
"Ok, you have my attention. What are you trying to say?" Sean asked.
"Don't you think the world would be better off if leaders like them were eliminated?" Zaheer said.
"If you were only talking about people like them then Yes I would agree...But they're not the only ones you would target regardless if they are good or bad. You can't just get rid of every world leader good or bad. That won't bring balance Just chaos." Sean said.
"Exactly. The Natural order is Disorder. Do you know who once said, New Growth cannot exist without first the destruction of the old?" Zaheer asked.
"Enlighten me." Sean said.
"Guro Laghima. An Airbender." Zaheer said making him frown.
"Where do I fit into all this?" Sean asked.
"When your task of killing all the remaining gods was complete we would have you release all their powers to run freely." Zaheer said.
"YOUR FUCKING INSANE!" Sean yelled standing up. "Having all that power run wildly would cause chaos and destruction!" Sean said.
"As I said that is the natural order. The world doesn't need leaders and nations and governments. What it needs is freedom." Zaheer said.
"You are dead wrong. People crave leadership. It's part of their nature to be led or lead others. It's not something you can just stop them from doing no different than an Alpha in a pack. Your idea is unrealistic and foolish. Not to mention I can't release all that power anyway like that." Sean said.
"Hmm?" Zaheer asked.
"It's a defense system inside me. I can't unleash that power freely. I can free the god who's power it comes from but not the power itself. This way it doesn't run wildly." Sean said.
"So in other words you can't unleash it all without also unleashing the gods who control that power." Zaheer said.
"Yes which is a good thing." Sean said making him sigh.
"Thats a shame. I was hoping not to use the other method of releasing that power." Zaheer said.
"The fuck does that mean? What are up to?" Sean asked.
"You'll find out soon enough. The Red lotus should have you by now." Zaheer said vanishing.
"ZAHEER!" Sean roared.
Sean opened his eyes seeing he was restrained heavily to prevent him from gaining any momentum and his mouth was covered by a mask.
"ZAHEER YOU FUCKING SON OF A BITCH!" Sean roared before looking at Asami. "You okay? Where's the rest of the Red Lotus?" Sean asked.
"Whats the Red Lotus? Zaheer didn't capture us. The Earth queen's forced while you were out." Asami said making him growl.
"You must be fucking joking me. Where are we?" Sean asked.
"I'm not sure. Some camp by the desert. They're taking us back to Ba Sing Se." Asami said making Sean growl
"I should have killed that bitch when I had the chance just like her mother." Sean said annoyed.
Meanwhile
"The Earth Queen's army snatched Kruger up before we could get to him." Ghazan said before he and Ming-Hua dropped Mako, Luke and Bolin who looked beat up.
"But we figured you could find a use for these Three." Ming-Hua said.
"Load them in the Truck. We're taking a trip to Ba Sing Se." Zaheer said.
"So how did the meeting go?" P'li said making him sigh.
"Apparently his powers have a defense system that prevents him from unleashing that power freely. So we'll have to use our other idea." Zaheer said.
"So we're making the deal then?" Ming-Hua asked.
"Not if everything works out perfectly." Zaheer said.
Authors Note: So now we know Zaheer is out of his mind wanting all that power inside Sean to run freely to cause pure untamed Chaos that would destroy the world.
