Leaving Home:
It had been three months since the battle of Hogwarts, but the castle was finally repaired and looked just as it used to. Apart from the staff, the ones that survived, many others remained at Hogwarts to help fix the castle.
Harry Potter, the saviour of the wizarding world was one of those people. Even though Harry would have preferred to stay somewhere else, he still couldn't help feeling partially responsible for the damage. He had no choice but to come to Hogwarts, which lead Voldemort and his army there. Even though Minerva McGonagall had told him that a fight was needed to get the castle back from the death eaters, Harry still felt a little guilty.
During this time, Harry and Ginny had began to date again. She had wanted Harry to stay at the Burrow, but she did understand why he wanted to remain at Hogwarts. Since Molly was grieving, for her son Fred, she didn't like her other children away from her too often, so Ginny could only see Harry twice a week. Harry never said it, but he actually liked that Ginny couldn't be there every day. He needed some space, he liked his time alone and he liked his privacy. He would never tell Ginny that, mainly so she wouldn't think he didn't want to spend time with her. Harry did, he just wanted to take things slow. Ginny on the other hand wanted a full-on serious relationship straight away, she also liked to continuously touch and kiss him. He wasn't used to so much physical contact with others so he wanted to take his time. Harry did explain that since they originally got together during a very intense time, it would be best to take things slow, otherwise they might not work. What Harry didn't say was, relationships that usually began during tense times, like wars, didn't always work. Some did, some didn't.
Over the last few weeks while he was still helping at Hogwarts, Harry had also been making some plans. The first one he had thought of was buying his own home. He was going to use the money Sirius left him to buy a place, but he realised he could do that anytime. What he really wanted was a holiday. He wanted to get out of England for a while, so he had began to make plans to see a few other countries, some he had heard or read about that looked interesting. Even though he wasn't sure how long he would be gone, one thing he did know, it would be months, if not a year before he would return. Which meant he would need to speak with Ginny. He had a feeling she would want to come with him, but he also knew her mother would never allow her to stay away that long, if she was allowed to go at all. He planned to speak with her when she turned up the following day, which gave him time to organise a few things ready for his holiday.
Harry sent one of the Hogwarts owls off to Kingsley Shacklebolt. Even though Kingsley was now minister, Harry didn't know many others that he would trust inside the ministry. He didn't want reporters turning up while he was on holiday. It's one reason he stayed at Hogwarts. Between Minerva, Hagrid and some of the other staff, they kept the reporters out, but also made sure they knew they were not to bother Harry. He was their world's hero, but Harry didn't want any of that. He wanted to be just Harry and help where he could. They had tried to sneak in a few times, but the temporary wards would bounce them back to the gates. He was writing to Kingsley in the hope he could help get him a portkey without people like reporters finding out. He knew he could sneak away using muggle transport, but it was quicker to use portkeys or apparition. He just wanted to keep his destination a secret, especially from reporters.
Harry also sent another owl off to Gringotts. Fleur was helping to run Gringotts since Voldemort had killed all the goblins in a fit of rage when he found out Harry had successfully broken into Bellatrix Lestrange's vault and stole his horcrux. There were many like Harry that didn't like goblins, so they were pleased it was now run by witches and wizards.
Since the repairs were done, Harry decided he would shop for a few things while he waited to hear from Fleur and Kingsley. Even though Harry could afford to stay in hotels, he also knew that using a wizard tent would be cheaper and it would mean he could stay anywhere without anyone like reporters finding him. Harry figured he could stay in muggle campgrounds for a few weeks at a time. The tent might be magical and expanded inside, but the muggles would only see a normal tent on the outside. It also had wards built into them so the muggles would not get too close. Harry knew that some people couldn't help themselves and were just nosy, but the spells on the tent meant a muggle would not want to get to close to the tent.
It took most of the day, but Harry got everything he needed for an extended holiday. He had already bought himself a whole new wardrobe and he had gotten around the having his eyes tested, then got contact lenses. He did get some more glasses, but they were mainly of a night. He did think to himself he would use them on days where he didn't plan to go out.
The following day didn't go as long as he thought it would. Kingsley was able to get his secretary to organise a reusable portkey for Harry. All Harry had to do was say the destination, push a little bit of magic into it, then tap it with his wand. Fleur was able to help as well. Harry didn't want to carry around a bagful of gold galleons. Fleur explained about their charmed bags, which was linked to their vault. It was also charmed to prevent theft. Fleur also answered any questions Harry had about his finances and how he could access larger amounts of his money from other countries. It was when Fleur told Harry about his third vault that surprised him.
He had his vault, the one his parent's left him. He had Sirius's vault, which was a lot fuller now since the Lestrange's were dead. Sirius, or Harry, got a share for their money, just like Andromeda Tonks did. She also got a lot of the Malfoy money since the three Malfoy's were in Azkaban. Even though Draco will be out in ten years, the ministry still confiscated half of the contents to pay for victims and damage done by his father, who was a death eater. Fleur explained that the other vault was the Potter family vault. Harry went to have a look at his new vault and realised it would be best to just combine two but he kept the one he got from Sirius separate. He had Fleur work on that but explained there was no hurry as he would be on holiday's for a while. He did ask her about transferring money to another country, in case he wanted to set up a holiday home in that country. It would be easier if he could just go to a bank in that country. Again, Fleur was able to answer his questions and Harry found it easy to transfer the huge amounts contents of gold from his vault to another country or just transfer some. They could even transfer to a muggle bank, if it was required.
The following day Harry had just finished having breakfast with the staff and people who had been helping and staying at the castle, when Ginny appeared. Harry greeted her then took her outside.
'I wanted to let you know that I'm going away for a while. After all this, I want a real holiday. I've never had one before, so I figured now would be a good time. Hogwarts is fixed, the ministry is up and running and since I planned to buy my own place, I figured I would do that after. I have a portkey that is set for tomorrow.'
'How long will you be gone?'
'Sixth months, maybe more. I'm not working on any schedule right now. I just want a holiday and decided to visit different places I've dreamt about.'
'Um, do you think I could join you?'
'I suppose, if you want, but you'll have to return without me when it's time for Hogwarts. What about your mum? She hasn't wanted you to spend too much time away right now, which I get.'
'I'm sure I can talk her into letting me go. But you haven't given me a lot of time. I'll have to get a few things.'
'Then I suggest you go speak with your mum first. If you can talk her into it, then do some shopping. Oh, I'm going to be using a tent as well, in muggle campgrounds. There are hundreds and every country I plan to visit has them so we can keep moving around. But I bought one of the more expensive ones, so it's pretty big but it has all the charms to keep us cool or warm. It has a fully functioning fireplace, so it's for warmth or floo travel. I just need to get a list of different floo addresses in each country I visit.'
'I supposed it would be cheaper than always paying for a hotel. It also gives you more privacy if you stay in the muggle world.'
'Exactly. Once the reporters find out I've gone away, they might just try to find out where I am. The portkey I got was one of the really expensive ones. I set the destination and it can be used over and over. It will work with you as long as I'm holding your hand. Only Kingsley and his secretary knows about the portkey but they don't know where I'm going.'
'Which will help. Alright, I'll go speak with mum, I might talk to dad first though. I am an adult now and he's more reasonable about that than mum is. Are you going to tell anyone you're leaving for a while?'
'Ron and Hermione will be here later. I sent them an owl when I sent one of to Kingsley. Go on, I'll see you later,' Harry kissed his girlfriend then watched as she hurried away. He had known she would want to come with him, but he also knew she would not be able to stay for long. Now Hogwarts is fixed and because of Voldemort having control, the students will be repeating the last year. Which means Ginny will need to redo her sixth year, then she has to do her seventh. She always hoped to get picked up by one of the quidditch scouts. If she ended up going with Harry, they would have to get her a portkey home from whatever country they're in at the time.
Harry had already spoken to McGonagall, he would not be returning to Hogwarts. If Ron returned to Hogwarts then Ron and Ginny could share the captains position. Ginny was better at quidditch, but Ron was good at strategies. It would mean Ginny could only join Harry on his holiday for a month, no longer. Harry didn't mind that, it would give him time alone and allow him to figure out what he wanted to do with his life while he was seeing the world.
Harry knew he didn't want to be an auror, but he had been thinking of a healer, or maybe even something to do with brooms and flying that didn't involve quidditch. He still had time to decide.
It took all day, but Ginny finally got permission from her father to go away with Harry. Ginny had borrowed some money from Bill so she could get some decent clothes but to also have some on her while she was away with Harry. She figured she might end up buying things for her family and friends.
Harry sent Ginny a message to meet him at Hogwarts before ten, if she was going with him. He didn't want to pick her up from the Burrow because he knew Ginny's mother would start about him living there. Harry had told her he was an adult and he planned to get his own home. There was no more war so he didn't have to be guarded. It was time he lived his life. Molly Weasley wouldn't listen, so Harry left the Burrow and hasn't been back.
Harry and Ginny had a great time. They first went to Canada and American for three weeks before they headed off to Australia.
The moment Harry arrived in Australia, he fell in love with the country. One thing he hated about England was how cold it was. It was nice to curl up in front of a fire, but because of the way he was raised by the Dursley's, he was never given enough clothes or blankets, so he was always cold. He got used to it, but he still hated being cold. Australia was such a warm country and the beaches were beautiful.
Every night, after they had eaten, Harry and Ginny would walk along the sand. They couldn't help staring out over the water. They had both been swimming in the ocean during the day and couldn't believe they hadn't frozen. It was near the end of winter in Australia, yet they felt like they were in late spring or early summer. They also realised that a lot of their clothes were just too warm for the Australian climate.
Harry had told Ginny that he would still like some time alone. While Harry was off doing what he wanted, Ginny would spend the day at the beach. She would swim then sunbath. She had to learn the sunscreen charm the first day she had gone to the beach. With her pale English skin, she would burn easily. The sunscreen charm allowed her to tan slowly without burning.
Three times so far Ginny spent her time alone at the beach while Harry went off to do whatever he was doing. Sometimes she would go to a cafe, have a cup of tea and something to eat before heading to the beach. Then they first arrived in Australia, Harry knew most of his time would be spent near the beach so they went to the ministry to get all the areas where they could apparate to. Even though they were staying in a tent near a beach, they apparated to many different beaches around Australia.
Ginny was staring at Harry in shock. She could not believe it. Harry bought a house in Australia and planned to stay.
'So, what about us?'
'Well, you can either move here with me, or…' Harry shrugged, 'I won't return there Ginny. I found out enough about the way the ministry and school works in this country to know it suits me more. I can return to my schooling with decent teachers, no houses, no restrictions and I can do my masters in many different subjects. But to know they have no pure-blood bullshit here is what I like. Everyone that works gets the job due to their newt scores and can do the job, not their blood status. Also, the ministry have worked wards that will detect if someone has a dark soul or even things like dark objects on them. They've had that for more than twenty years. Imagine, you would never have been subjected to Voldemort because the diary would have been picked up. They told the English ministry about these new wards, but because there were so many dark wizards in the ministry, they made sure no one else found out. But it's just better here. I won't freeze my balls off in winter. I hate the cold. But I know I can make a life here, a life I want. I'm not the saviour here, so I won't be annoyed by reporters or people staring at my scar. Listen, if you want time to think about it, then do that. Go back to England, take some time, think it over and see if you would prefer to stay there or come here with me.'
'If I came here, I would need to be able to pay for international portkeys so I can visit my family. Also, what about quidditch?'
'Oh, they don't have that here, they have the racing league, which is better in my opinion. Every student at the school gets to participate as it's not a team sport, but an individual sport. They have a professional league and again, it's individual so you don't need to work training around a team. You'll have to pay for things yourself as well so you'll have to hope that your parent's would work on some money for you.'
Ginny didn't know what to think. She wanted to be with Harry, but it would mean leaving her family behind. She was also worried about how to pay for things if her parent's didn't want her to leave England. She also wondered what she would do since Australia didn't have quidditch. Either way, she had to work something out. Harry was now living here and won't be returning. If she wanted to stay with Harry, it would mean moving halfway around the world and away from her family. She had asked to see the house and she admitted it was beautiful.
The days that Harry had said he needed to do some things, alone, she never thought much of it. Ginny was used to doing that because Harry often said he needed time alone. On those days, she always spent the day at the beach while Harry was gone. The first day is when he went to buy the house. The second time was the day he got his Australian citizenship and registered his address at the ministry, he also connected the floo. He had seen it when they had been walking around the town, heading to the beach. The third time he went off alone was to buy some basic furniture.
Harry never told Ginny that he spoke with people at the Australian ministry. He wanted to make sure there was no way the English ministry could force him to return. He had finally found a home, in Australia. He had no family, so he had no real ties, just friends and friends could visit. The Australian ministry worked it quickly so Harry was now an Australian citizen. He did get offered duel citizenship but Harry knew he would never return to England so he gave up his English citizenship and was now an Australian. The people in the ministry also worked on keeping Harry's information confidential so no reporters ever found out through them where he lived. Once he had his citizenship, he had spoken with the people who ran the wizarding bank in Australia. They were able to transfer everything from his vaults to his new vaults in his new country. He had half of his money changed into muggle money, then he opened a muggle bank account. He realised he was pretty well off, so much so that he would never have to work, if he didn't want to. He did want to, he just wasn't sure what he wanted to do. He hoped once he could return to his education in Australia, it would give him time to work that out.
It was two days later that Harry got Ginny a portkey from the ministry, 'If you do decide to live here with me, you'll have to make plans on what you want to do once you've finished Hogwarts. You'll need some type of job.'
'I need to speak with my parent's, but one thing they will say is we'll have to get married.'
'That won't happen, I'm never getting married, or having kids. I want to be able to do what I want, when I want and no one has any say. I had to put up with it before all because of that damn prophecy, never again. Anyway, the portkey will activate in about a minute.'
Ginny was so confused. She had sex with Harry because she believed they would eventually marry. Now Harry was living in another country and he didn't want to ever get married. All she could do was kiss Harry before lifting her bags. She could see how happy Harry was, now she had to work out if staying in another country with Harry will make her happy yet she wouldn't be marrying him. That had also been one of her dreams. If she moved to Australia to be with Harry, she would be giving up two of her dreams, quidditch and marrying Harry. If she gave up Harry, she would get a chance at one of her dreams, playing quidditch and she wouldn't have to leave her family, she just wouldn't have Harry.
Because the school year starts at the beginning of the year in Australia, Harry was told he could start his seventh year but if he has trouble keeping up, he'll have to go down to sixth year. None of the teachers who tested him thought he would have any trouble, he just might need to work harder to bring up subjects like potions and read more to catch up on the history of the wizarding world. It wasn't just history of magic about that country, it was about all magical history of every country. He knew that meant he might end up reading about himself, from the time he got his scar, to when he finally killed Voldemort.
At the same time as Harry was organising to buy everything he would need to finish off his last year of his magical education, Ginny was having a serious discussion with her parents. She didn't know it, but Hermione had been about to come downstairs when she heard Ginny explain that Harry bought himself a house in Australia and was not returning to England, ever. Ginny had to decide if she could give up her dream of quidditch to stay with Harry. She never told her parent's that Harry wouldn't be marrying her. She knew they would instantly refuse to let her go, which means they wouldn't give her the money she would need. She was an adult, but Ginny also knew what her parent's were like, very old fashioned and stubborn.
Hermione had turned and hurried back up to join Ron, ready to explain to him that Harry will not be returning. She didn't know that even if they tried or someone tried to force him to return, Harry was now an Australia citizen.
Hermione and Ron decided to speak with Kingsley, find out if the ministry could make Harry return. Both of them were confused. They didn't know why Harry wanted to leave his home country. Hermione did write a very long letter to Harry, with a lot of questions.
'I'm sorry to say that Harry gave up his English citizenship and is now an Australian. They did ask if he wanted duel, he instantly said no, that he didn't like the wizarding part of England and believed they we are too old fashioned and rigid,' Kingsley sighed, 'He did tell them that since he had a rotten life growing up and at it was the same at Hogwarts, then there was nothing holding him here. He did say he had friends, but like many friends when they leave school, they drift, but if they remain friends then they could still visit. The moment I finished speaking with the minister from Australia, I put the blame on Albus Dumbledore. It was his decision to place Harry with those muggles, who mistreated him. Albus was also chief warlock yet he never organised a trial for Sirius. If Harry had Sirius growing up, it might have made him think differently about this country. Then you have to add all the things that happened at Hogwarts and the way Albus allowed Snape to harass Harry all the time. Albus should have done many things differently when it came to Harry and I wasn't the only one who thought that way. Anyway, there isn't anything we can do. All I can suggest is you two, being his closest friends, try to talk to him, see if there is any chance he will change his mind.'
'I wrote him a letter and asked why. I'm hoping he gets back to me soon. But we can't speak with him in person until we finish Hogwarts, by then it might be too late, even if I believe it already is,' Hermione said sadly.
Ron didn't know what to say. His best friend was now living in another country and had no plans of returning to England, not even for a visit. Ron used to see Bill and Charlie ever second year. If he stayed in contact with Harry, it might be the same. But by what Kingsley said, Harry had no intention of every returning to England, which means if he wanted to see Harry, he would need to go to Australia, which would cost money. He knew once he was working he could afford to pay for a portkey but by then he wouldn't be able to just take off whenever he wanted.
It took a lot of talking with her parents and Hermione, it also took a lot of thinking but Ginny had decided not to go to Australia, at least not yet. She did write to Harry and tell him she was going to finish her education at Hogwarts, but maybe after, she could return and they could talk it over.
It took a month before Ginny got a reply from Harry. He said it was her decision but he couldn't promise he would still be single by the time she finished Hogwarts. He said right now he wanted to just enjoy his life and finish his education in a school that was one hundred times better than Hogwarts. He wrote that since he might not see her for a whole year then he will probably date, so he couldn't say if he would be with someone when she finished, or if he would still be single. He was living day to day right now, just enjoying the freedom.
Ginny began to think of just packing up and going to Harry, before he ended up meeting some other girl. But again, she had to think about the dream of playing quidditch. Her parent's had also told her that they could not afford to give her money, enough money that she would need if she moved away. Ginny had read up on the racing league and spoke with Charlie who had seen a few of the racing competitions. Ginny knew it wasn't for her, she wanted to play quidditch. She liked the atmosphere of a team. The racing league didn't have teams. Each player flew fast and against all other players. She wasn't one for flying fast, not really, she would if she needed to but usually playing chaser was more about moving around other players and scoring, it was not about speed.
By the time Ginny, Hermione and Ron returned to Hogwarts, everyone in England knew that Harry Potter left the country and gave up his English citizenship. No one knew where he was, apart from the Weasley's, Hermione and Kingsley, but everyone wanted him to return.
The minister for magic released a statement and the information that he received from the minister of the country Harry was now living in. In the statement it went on about the school, with no underage restrictions when the students were out of school. How students could go home every second weekend. There was a town nearby that all students could go to every weekend and it was larger and had more to offer than Hogsmeade. All teachers were tested to make sure they could teach. There weren't any houses, the students were sorted by age and it allowed students to mingle and make friends with a lot more children their own age. There were very strict rules on bullying and the school also offered more subjects.
The ministry in Australia had a lot of oaths so no dark wizards could ever get work there and there was nothing based on blood. Everyone was just a witch or wizard. Everyone that was arrested, was given veritaserum to find out the truth so no one could get away with lying. They basically had no serious crime since they had an auror force, hit wizards and their own military. Every person who joined one of those three, were questioned with veritaserum when they signed up.
By the end of the Hogwarts school year, Ginny had been picked up by the Holyhead Harpies. She would begin training but not straight away. The captain knew that most students like to take some time off, so Gwenog Jones gave Ginny a month before she would begin training. She decided to make a quick trip to Australia, to see Harry. She had missed him terribly and had to force herself to concentrate on quidditch and her school work. She figured now she would be playing quidditch, if she remained at the Burrow for a while longer, she could afford a portkey to visit Harry in Australia and they could have a long distance romance. They would probably only see each other once every few months, but it was the best Ginny could do and she was willing, if it allowed her to see Harry. She was hoping she might find out he missed her and might have changed his mind about marriage.
Hermione and Ron planned to go on a holiday and figured they might go to Australia and hopefully talk Harry into returning. They would go after Ginny returned. Most employers knew that many students like to take a few months to travel before they began working so it worked for Ron and Hermione.
Ginny got to Harry's home and knocked on the door. No one answered. She didn't think Harry would mind if she let herself in. She wanted to leave him a note so he would know she was here. She would go to a hotel for the night, but she hoped it was only for one night.
As Ginny stepped into the living room, she got a shock. Harry was there, asleep, naked and had two naked girls wrapped around him. There were other people asleep and naked in the room as well. There was one girl with three men lying together and just some couples. There were male couples and female couples. The house was a mess. Ginny believed there had been a big party, that ended with everyone having sex.
Ginny was heartbroken. She didn't leave a note, she left and returned to England. She realised Harry was not the Harry she had known. If he liked sleeping with two woman at once that she definitely did not want to be involved with him. She would put all her energy into quidditch and try to be the best player ever.
Hermione and Ron had visited Harry three weeks after Ginny left. Just like with Ginny, they found naked people all over the house, including Harry with a couple of naked women. When Hermione made a loud noise, it did wake Harry. He ended up standing up, naked and didn't bother getting anything on.
'So, this holiday is the one that a lot of students take once they finish their education?' Harry asked as he grabbed another can of beer from the cooler.
'Would you mind putting some clothes on Harry,' Hermione said snappily.
'Nope, I stay naked when I'm home and any visitors I have just have to put up with it. Want a beer?'
'No, thank you,' Hermione said with pursed lips.
'What about you Ron?'
'Butterbeer, why not.'
'It's not butterbeer, it's muggle beer, alcohol,' Harry held out a can but Ron took one look at Hermione and shook his head. That made Harry chuckle before he downed the whole can before grabbing another.
'So, was there a party here or something?'
'Just our weekend get together. Every weekend we end up at one of our homes. It should have been Rogers this weekend but he ended up having to go see family so we changed it to my home.'
'Did you tell Ginny about these get together's when she visited?' Hermione asked.
'I haven't seen Ginny since she returned to England, right after I bought this place.'
'She came here to see you. She figured since she would be training soon, she would spend some time with you before that started.'
'She got picked up, good for her. But as I said, I haven't seen her.'
'She probably turned up and saw what we saw,' Hermione said still huffily.
Harry shrugged, 'I told her there was a chance I wouldn't be single if she returned. I'm out for fun and I live day to day. I'm not planning anything serious.'
'What about marriage? I know Ginny hoped you two would marry.'
'I told Ginny I won't ever marry, nor have kids. This is my life. Learn, work, fuck a lot of people, it's fun and that's how I'm going to live. Ginny knew there wouldn't be anything serious like marriage before she returned to England.'
Many of the people who were there began to wake. Over the next hour, they would stroll through the house, use one of the bathrooms before dressing. They would speak with Harry, who was still naked and work on seeing each other again soon. The two woman Harry had been lying with both kissed him, fiercely before they both went into the same bathroom to shower.
Harry flicked his wand and began to make himself breakfast, even though it was early afternoon.
'Do you two want anything to eat?'
'No, thank you.'
'No, we ate right before we came here. So those two women, you're dating both of them,' Ron said.
Harry chuckled, 'We're not dating, we're fucking and having fun. Ever time we get together, we fuck and sometimes switch partners. I have another few months before I finish school so these parties are great for stress. I'm going to do my masters in charms, transfiguration and defensive magic. The principle said I can have a job at the school once I'm finished those, which takes three years.'
'You're going to be a teacher?'
'Yep, oh and I passed my high school certificate for non magical subjects. It's one thing that attracted me to the school. All students can do both and since anyone magical interacts more with non magical people more and more, it's best if they learn as much as they can. Even if a witch or wizard doesn't want to do all subjects, it's mandatory to do some so they can interact better. All non magical raised witches and wizards also attend mandatory classes on the wizarding world even if this country doesn't follow a lot of traditions and customs.'
Harry flicked his wand and his breakfast settled onto a plate, he began to eat instantly.
'So how long is your holiday?' Harry asked between bites.
'We're allowed a month before we begin working. I'm still going to be an auror. I thought you want to be an auror,' Ron said.
'No, I knew that before I left England. I don't want to keep fighting dark witches and wizards. Had enough of that. Even though I had been nervous with the DA, I did enjoy teaching. I did a lot of thinking when I came here, trying to work out what I want to do. I worked out that I would be an either healer, broom design or teacher. After speaking with all my teachers and the principle, I decided on being a teacher.'
'What if the principle found out about these weekends, won't that stop you being a teacher?' Hermione asked still sounding upset.
Harry chuckled, 'The tall blond that I spoke with, that's the principle. Like with many people, what we do in private and in our own homes has nothing to do with our jobs as long as we don't break any laws. Australia is like England where the age of consent is sixteen, we make sure no one is younger but we all prefer everyone to be seventeen and older. None of us are breaking any laws and no children ever see any of this.' Harry finished eating then sent his dishes to begin washing themselves, 'Want to check out the beach while you're here? It's in walking distance.'
'Will you get dressed?' Hermione asked which made Harry laugh as he nodded.
'Be right back,' Harry walked casually out of the kitchen and up the stairs to his bedroom.
'I'm not sure about this new Harry,' Ron said, 'Ginny never mentioned anything about how Harry didn't want marriage.'
'She knew your parent's wouldn't allow her to live with someone. She also might not have been sure about a proper relationship with Harry if he didn't want marriage. I always thought he would marry and have kids. He always went on about having his own family, now he doesn't want one.'
'We've heard many say that because of what we went through, it's changed them. Seems Harry is one of those that changed,' Ron said.
'Or maybe we're seeing the real Harry, that couldn't come out before because of what was going on.'
'Sirius did say James Potter was very popular when he was a student.'
'Yes, he did, he also told us about everything they got up to, which is not something Harry would normally do. If he is like his father, than we are seeing the real Harry.'
'I think we are,' Ron sighed. He was like Hermione, he wasn't sure how to take this new Harry.
Harry spent the day with his friends and realised how different they were. Hermione was always huffing at him, for his language, his clothes, his drinking of alcohol and practically everything else. He liked the way he was and he believed if he hadn't been in constant danger, he might have been more like he is now when he was at Hogwarts. It seems Hermione didn't like the way he was now. Ron mainly looked confused so Harry realised Ron also didn't know how to take this new Harry.
Harry stayed with Hermione and Ron all day. They returned to the hotel but they would be leaving early the following morning. Harry had a feeling he wouldn't see his two friends again. They might have been close since they were eleven, but they were completely different people now. Harry would never got back to England but he also wouldn't go back to being the way he was. He liked his new life and it had nothing to do with the sex he was having every weekend. He finally felt right about himself, like he had finally found who he was meant to be and in the near future, he would be a teacher at a school that was so much better than Hogwarts.
Harry felt that everything he was doing now and would be doing in the future was perfect for him. The ministry was better than England and they made sure no dark wizards could ever get a foothold inside the ministry. The school was better than Hogwarts but life in general was better in Australia than in England. They combined so much from both worlds that you didn't feel like you belonged to one over the other. You were just a person who happened to be able to do magic.
To Harry, coming to Australia and deciding this would be his home, was the best decision he ever made.
The end:
