Chapter 10

(Really quick) A/N: Hi, here's an extra chapter before we end this book! Enjoy!

Two years later

Jack sat on the branch of a tree, restlessly tracing his hand along the grooves of his staff as he leaned against the trunk. His one leg casually hung off the branch he was on as he enjoyed the peace and quiet.

When he wasn't busy doing his guardian duties of creating blizzards, causing mischief and bringing fun to the children, the quiet woods of Burgess became somewhat of a sanctuary for him. He liked the calm state he found himself whenever he was alone, everywhere else had too much hustle and bustle going on and he couldn't catch a break. North's workshop was always hard at work, yetis and elves preparing presents for the most joyous season of the year, Tooth's palace was constantly buzzing with life as her little fairies collected milk teeth, sealing in precious memories and Bunny's warren was continually cracking as he prepared his Easter eggs for spring. As for Sandy, well, his home was not the easiest to get to so that's out of the picture.

His mind thought back to the little ice house that resided on the hilltop of the enchanted forest. A place he remembered with great fondness, but somewhere he would never be again. It was in these little pockets of time that he couldn't help but wonder how she was, and whether she was thinking of him too. He only hoped that she was happy where she was, knowing that was enough for him.

He sighed as he placed two hands behind his head, leaning back to rest his head on the tree branch. Wasn't it just ironic how just as he thought found somewhere he comfortably belonged, someone he loved, he had to give it all up? Jack couldn't complain though, he was glad that he at least got a chance, no matter how short it was.

The wind circled him gently, interrupting his thoughts as he chuckled.

"Hey Wind," Jack gave an empty smile as he felt the warm breeze again on his face. It was strangely comforting, as if it knew what he was thinking about. The wind was the only companion that knew what happened, which Jack was pretty grateful for as he could talk about it to someone else about his feelings, or in this case, something else.

"I'm alright," he said as he sat up. The wind blew his hood up, bringing it over his head. Jack rolled his eyes like how a child would a nagging parent.

"Alright, you caught me thinking of her again." He shrugged. "I know it's been two years, but I can't help it."

Jack gave a small smile as he felt the gentle wind caress his face, brushing the locks of his hair aside. Jack gave a sad smile.

"Love, huh? Just a four-letter word, yet deceivingly strong. Can you believe I spent the past 300 years not actually knowing what it really felt like, perhaps fate knew I was waiting for the right person… for her."

There was a short pause before wind tugged upwards at his body, knocking him out of his lovelorn trance and he found himself taking one step after another backwards until he was on the branch edge, almost falling off. The wind lifted him up and Jack grunted in resistance, unsure of what was happening.

"Hey-Whoa! Wait-Where are you taking me?" Jack called as the Wind managed to blow him off the branch and he found himself hanging on with one hand, his other holding his staff.

The wind circled him again, and he narrowed his eyes and bit his lips.

"Alright! I trust you, but could you be more gentle-Woah!"

Jack didn't even finish his sentence and the Wind picked him up and flew him up into the sky.

Jack once again landed on the ground, thankfully pillowy soft snow was able to cushion the blow. Tumbling him onto the ground every time Wind took him somewhere seemed to be a recurring theme as Jack huffed, patting the snow off his pants and shoulders.

The Wind took him through a portal, and Jack now found himself in an unfamiliar location. There was a majestic building in front of him, white walls capped with a golden roof. He seemed to be in a garden or courtyard of some sort, there was a sheltered walkway separating the courtyard which connected two towers. There was a big tree in the middle of the courtyard, the snow freshly piled on its plush green leaves and branches and Jack cocked his head to one side as he eyed it strangely.

"Where are we?" Jack whispered in awe as he looked at the falling snow. There was no response.

Reaching out his hand, he let some snowflakes land in his palm and he scrutinized them. The magic from these snowflakes felt different and Jack gasped in realization.

Emily.

He quickly picked up his staff and walked briskly towards the shelter. Taking the steps up onto the tiled walkway, Jack looked left and right, unsure of which side to proceed towards first. Instead, he found himself going straight into the next courtyard.

Suddenly, he stopped dead in his tracks before he slowly took his first step down. His blue eyes widened in disbelief and he felt the adrenaline pump through his chest at the familiar head of platinum blonde hair a distance away.

She stood tall, her back facing away from him and she was looking up at the tree in the middle of the open space. She placed a dainty hand on the thick trunk of the sturdy tree and soon it was encased in beautiful, delicate swirls of frost.

One might think that meeting again after two years being apart, Jack would immediately find his way to her, but instead he found himself rooted to the ground, a little hesitant on what to do next. It was as if he wanted to make sure that she was glad to see him too, his ears rang as she slowly turned around.

Her rosy lips parted, a small gasp escaped and time stood still as the two winter spirits stared at each other, wondering if they were really in each other's presence once again.

Elsa's breathing got rocky as her eyes teared up, her lips curved up into a smile as she took the first step toward him. Her initial small step broke into a run as she rushed towards him. He followed suit, a huge grin on his face as he met her halfway, his staff thrown on the snowy ground in the process as she crashed into his arms.

He engulfed her in the tightest of hugs and she wrapped her arms around his lithe body. He inhaled her scent of sweet vanilla and his hand found the back of her head as he patted her smooth hair.

She pulled away from him moments later, her hands cupped his handsome face as her thumb and fingers caressed his jaws and cheeks. She wanted to make sure that this was really him. Her heart was bursting at the fact that Jack Frost was standing right there before her.

She smiled. He looked down at her lovingly, his eyes tracing her cheeks and her cute little nose. The dusting of freckles over her nose bridge was just as he remembered. The past two years didn't even show on her and she looked as beautiful as ever.

"Hi." He whispered, giving her a grin as his hands wrapped tighter around her waist.

"Hi," she whispered back, a small giggle followed and he felt his insides melt at the sound of her voice. She brought her face closer to his, their foreheads and noses touching gently. "I never thought I would see you again."

"Me neither," he lowered his face even closer to hers, his blue eyes never leaving hers.

"Two years… It wasn't easy. I've missed you." She admitted and he gave her a small smile.

"It was. I've been fucking miserable." He breathed and she brushed her fingers against his cheek again. She was terrified that she was going to wake up and realise this was all just a dream.

"Is this real? Or just a dream?" She asked softly, her finger moving from his cheek to the tip of his nose. It tickled him and he wrinkled his nose, making her laugh.

"Well Snowflake," The sound of his voice calling her once again made her insides flip with joy. "If this really is a dream, let's make the most of it, shall we?"

He pressed his lips to hers, and what started as a sweet kiss turned more passionate as they made up for the lost time between them. It was enthralling and Elsa couldn't help heating up despite the snow and cold that surrounded them.

She pulled away, and he gave her that charming boyish grin before kissing her forehead and pulling her in for another hug.

"I love you, Elsa." He said softly and she tightened her arms that were already around him.

"And I you, Jack Frost." She whispered back lovingly, a small smile on her face.

Despite the thrill they felt being in each other's presence again, there was a tinge of sadness evident as they both knew it would be a fleeting moment. However, the bigger question that had been chucked aside during their little reunion was: where were they and what were they both doing there?

"Ahem."

Jack and Elsa release their hold of each other, turning to face the person who just cleared her throat.

Emily stood before them at the shelter, in her usual ensemble with dark clouds looming around her. She looked visibly uncomfortable watching her two winter spirits canoodling just moments before she interrupted them, but her demeanor was relaxed and Jack felt she didn't give off as much 'stick-in-the-mud' vibes as she did before.

"Apologies for ruining whatever was going on," she said and Elsa felt her cheeks heat up. "Welcome to the Celestial Court. Manny and Sunna have been expecting the both of you."

"Celestial Court?" Jack asked, brows furrowed as he glanced over at Elsa. Emily walked down the steps towards them.

"I don't understand, you said it was nothing to worry about when you brought me here," Elsa said and Jack stiffened.

"Wait-" Jack paused as he looked over at Emily and then back at Elsa. "Emily brought you here? How?"

"Through a portal?" Elsa replied with a raised eyebrow. "Though I must say, Emily, the carriage that you created with magic was so comfortable that going through that portal wasn't bumpy at all."

"I'm glad you like it," Emily smiled at Elsa while Jack looked on incredulously. "I had it prepared special-"

"Hold up," Jack raised both hands. "So Emily, you brought Elsa here in a nice carriage while I was literally kidnapped by Wind here?"

Elsa raised her hand to her mouth, hiding her surprise to not seem rude as Emily gave a chuckle and a nod. "Sounds about right."

"That's just not fair!"

"Well, I couldn't do two carriages at the same time, would you have preferred I sent Elsa tumbling through the portals as well?" Emily quipped.

"No, but-"

"I guess that settles it," Emily exclaimed as she signalled towards the building. "Come now, we need to get to the main hall."

Emily started walking off as Elsa took Jack's arm gently.

"I swear she likes you better than me for some reason," Jack half-joked and picked up his staff, making Elsa smile. They both followed on as Emily brought them through the hallways.

Walking through the Celestial halls, both winter spirits had their eyes wide open in awe at the grandeur of it all, the walls sparkled, the floors perfectly polished. Their hands interlaced tightly as they continued on.

Emily turned left at the end of the hallway and opened the pearl doors, leading them into a ballroom. Sunna and Manny stood on the grandstand at the front, nodding at them as they came in, their magnificent aura a reminder of the high gods that they were.

"Hello, Jack Frost, Elsa of Arendelle." Sunna chimed, as both winter spirits bowed in front of them. Emily stood to the side so that the Sun goddess and Man in Moon could speak directly to them. Manny had his hands behind his back, but he wore a welcoming grin. "Welcome to the Celestial Court."

"Please rise," Manny said as they did. He saw the slightly alarmed look at the faces of Jack and Elsa and he gave a chuckle. "I assume Mother Nature hasn't told you both why you're here yet."

He looked over to Emily who was biting her lips, trying her best to control her smile, though her raised cheek bones gave it away. Manny chuckled.

"Ever since that event in the Sunland Mountains two years ago where you both had to part ways, we made sure to watch over the both of you closely, especially to make sure there weren't any negative repercussions." Sunna started. She walked down the steps so that she was standing right in front of them. Despite being on the same level, the Sun Goddess still towered everyone else in the room. "However, we both realised that though we did get our winter spirits back and everything did eventually go back to normal, it never truly went back to how it was before, didn't it?"

Jack and Elsa looked at each other. He gave her a small affectionate smile.

"No, I guess not," Elsa said softly, her blue eyes taking a while to tear away from Jack's before she looked back at Sunna, who had a pleased look on her face.

Manny took a few steps to approach them. "We know the laws, and though there's nothing we can do to change that, we're willing to work around it to give you two a shot. If it's what you both want."

Elsa gasped in surprise as she snapped her head to Jack who was equally bewildered. Elsa covered her mouth, a big smile on her lips. Were they hearing things? Did they really have a chance to be together?

"You mean, you'll let us be together?" Jack said, surprised at how softly he spoke, as if he was afraid it was too good to be true. Elsa wrapped her arms around his waist and he placed an arm around her shoulders.

Manny looked to Sunna, who gave him a knowing smile. They both nodded in sync.

"What-how- why?" Jack stuttered out. As much as he was ecstatic at the news, he was curious to know why the change of heart.

"Because I insisted," a voice replied and everyone in the room turned around to see Kozmotis Pitchiner at the door. He walked into the ballroom all dressed in a black suit, he had the same regal air as Emily did. He was no longer threatening like when he was Pitch Black, there was now a goodness in him. His aged face showed his centuries of wisdom, yet there was a soothing calmness he radiated.

As he walked up, he went over to Emily to give her a squeeze on her shoulders, before he gave a quick bow to Manny and Sunna. He turned to the two winter spirits.

"I never had the chance to thank you both, for joining my daughter in saving me." Kozmotis started as he gave them both a quick bow.

"No, please, sir." Jack started as he placed a hand on his arm, urging him that there was no need to bow. Kozmotis gave a smile.

"After I awoke from my battle with Fearlings, I heard all about you two." He said as he put his arms behind him. "Unfortunately my powers and strength are still slowly coming back, and I couldn't pay you both a visit to thank you personally."

"Thank you for your kind words, sir," Elsa spoke as she brought both her hands together in front of her. "Though we still don't really understand. You mentioned that you insisted… for us?"

"I have been getting updates from Emily in these last two years, that despite you doing your individual roles diligently, the both of you were still finding it difficult to move on." Kozmotis explained. "You both had the choice to forget it all, yet chose to remember this love that was ill-fated with no outcome."

Jack looked to Elsa sadly as memories of that day flooded his mind. He took her hand in hers, his thumb gently caressed her skin.

"The laws don't allow it," Kozmotiz continued. "But I also know that love is the most powerful thing there is. When I was trapped all these centuries, nobody thought there was any way to get me back. However, it was the love of my daughter that believed and freed me. My stance is that love isn't something we can deny, even for two beings that are two worlds too different. The bravery and courage you both showed to save and protect each other touched all of us here, and during the time we took to think about it, we felt that it was reason enough to grant you both the love you deserve."

Elsa felt Jack's hand grip hers tighter. She smiled at him, making his insides bloom with hope.

"Jack, Elsa," Manny said. "Though the chances were slim, Kozmotis fought for your case. It took a while to consider, but Sunna and I agreed that if we can work around the rules and that the both of you can still continue your work as our winter spirits, then we are in no position to deny you of the right to love each other."

Jack let out a breath he didn't know he was taking as he gave a huge grin. He turned to Elsa who was beaming with joy as he held both her hands in his. They could finally be together!

Though, there were still questions to be answered.

"How?" Elsa asked breathlessly as she looked over to the three high gods.

"Since the two of you are from different realms, we cannot have either one going over as and when you please. It will strongly upset the ecosystem and balance of nature." Emily explained. "Hence, what we can look to is to create another dimension where the both of you can co-exist. Like how my home is in a world of its own."

"As a show of gratitude for saving Kozmotis, Sunna and I are willing to help with that." Manny continued. "All you have to do is summon the portal to get there. It can be your home, for both of you. If you want it, it's yours for eternity."

"For eternity?" Jack questioned. Something didn't add up in his head, it wouldn't make sense since Elsa was still mortal.

"Yes." Sunna said and she walked towards Elsa. Smiling softly at her Snow Queen, the Sun Goddess placed both hands on her shoulders. "Elsa, we are giving you the chance to become immortal."

"I-immortal?" Elsa gasped, her head spun as she tried to process the meaning of it all. "That means I will live forever?"

Sunna nodded. "You will be as you are from now until the end of time. The plan can only proceed if you are willing to become immortal. That was the agreement we had with the court. You will no longer age or die, and you will be my fifth spirit of the forest permanently."

Jack's brows furrowed as he saw Elsa's smile disappear at Sunna's words. He knew her, he knew that the most important thing to Elsa was her family, especially Anna. How could he make her give it all up just for him?

"I-" Elsa stuttered slightly, trying to form words as she looked at Sunna helplessly.

"It's okay, it's a difficult decision which we can't force you to rush." Sunna comforted her. "We'll give you till the end of the day to let us know. Our offer will stand until then."

"Snowflake, you don't have to do it." Jack said softly as they walked through the gardens of the celestial court. Elsa had been awfully quiet the whole time, the comfortable silence between them filled by the cherry chirping of birds.

"Jack-"

"I know Anna means the world to you," Jack continued, not realising that Elsa had spoken. Facing her, he took her hands in his. "If you don't want to go through with this, I understand."

"You're not going to persuade me?" Elsa asked softly. "It's a chance for us to be together."

"I know." He reached out his hand to comb a strand of her platinum hair behind her ear. "It's difficult for me to say, but I don't expect you to give up anything for me." He shook his head. "I don't want you to."

"You keep thinking about me, but what about you?" She wrapped her arms around him.

"Me? For me, the answer is simple - it's you. It's always been you, Snowflake." He gave a small chuckle in her hair. "I can't be selfish though… I just want you to be happy, to make the choice that you want and deserve."

Her eyes welled up at his words. Though her heart hurt, it was an easy choice for her to make. It didn't surprise her but she still couldn't believe how he only wanted the best for her, even if it meant the rest of eternity without her.

God, he was making her fall in love with him all over again.

"The sun is setting." Jack said tenderly in her ear as she pulled away from him. He gave her a kiss on her forehead, his lips lingering on her skin. "We should head back to let them know."

Elsa looked over at the sunset. Her mind couldn't help but think about her sister. A particular conversation played over in her head.

Elsa carried her sleeping one-year-old niece in her arms. Rocking the little auburn-haired babe back and forth gently, the Snow Queen stood in the middle of the nursery, the crib just a few steps away. She couldn't help but trace her pale fingers across the baby's plump rosy cheeks, a small smile on her face as she hummed a soft lullaby.

"Look at you, Els," Anna gave a small laugh as she stood at the door. Elsa turned around to give her sister a smile. "You certainly have a way with little Anita. We never get her to sleep as fast as you do."

Elsa slowly walked towards the crib, putting Anita down for her nap. She leaned down to give her little head a sweet kiss before she turned back to Anna.

Elsa looked at her sister with slight amusement as Anna sniffed and wiped a tear from her eye.

"What's wrong?" Elsa whispered as she locked her arms with Anna, guiding her out of the nursery before they accidentally woke the sleeping child.

"I just think that life is so cruel to you," Anna said as Elsa closed the room door.

"Anna," Elsa sighed as she put her hand on her sister's chin, lifting her face up. "I'm okay, don't worry about me."

The Queen of Arendelle sniffed again, wiping her nose with her sleeve. "You say that, sis. But your eyes betray you."

Elsa looked down. It's true, she does get lonely sometimes and she did miss Jack a fair bit. After Anna found out the whole truth from Elsa, she insisted that her sister go and find him. The issues were that Elsa knew she couldn't, and that she didn't know how. Anna couldn't stand the fact that her sister had been so close to finding happiness, yet had it been torn away just as quickly.

"Life goes on, doesn't it?" Elsa said softly as she started walking down the hallway with her sister. "Besides, I have you, Anita and our family. What more can I possibly want."

Anna stopped in her tracks and she grabbed her sister's hand upon seeing Elsa's forlorn look. Despite her words, Anna could tell in a heartbeat that though Elsa could be happy, she would never be truly content. Not like those days when Jack was around, she had never seen her sister as blissful as that ever again.

"Elsa," Anna said as Elsa looked up at her sister's thoughtful face. "Can you promise me, if you ever get another chance to be with someone again, you'll take it?"

"Anna, it won't happen again." Elsa argued but Anna held her hand tighter. Elsa's face softened. "Look, even if there was a chance, a one-in-a million chance, how could I give this all up? Especially you, my dear sister?"

Anna smiled. "It's not about me, Els. I want you to be happy, to make a decision for yourself and ONLY yourself. You don't have to worry about us, we're your family, we're always here. Call me a romantic, but I believe everyone deserves their happy endings; I got mine, and you shouldn't stop yourself from getting yours."

Elsa looked at Anna's earnest face, her honest turquoise blue eyes shining.

"Promise?" Anna asked and Elsa found herself nodding. Damn Anna and her persuasion tactics.

"Promise."

Elsa found herself standing once again in the grand ballroom. Manny and Sunna stood before them, with Emily and her father standing a little to the side. Her heart was beating fast as time grew closer to her final decision. Jack held her hand firmly, giving it a squeeze of affirmation.

Whatever choice she made, she knew that he would be there with her.

"My Snow Queen," Sunna started and Elsa glanced up at the beautiful, tall goddess. "You have made your decision?"

Elsa took a step forward and Jack let go of her hand. Emily cocked her head to one side as she watched Jack's eyes turn slightly sorrowful though he kept the strained smile on his face.

"Yes, I have." Elsa said, her voice ringing loud and clear.

The Sun Goddess nodded. "Do you accept?"

Elsa looked over to Jack one more time, her blue eyes locked on him as he gave her an encouraging small nod and she turned back to face Sunna. Jack looked down, trying to not let his emotion overwhelm him. Elsa was the best thing that happened to him and even though she was going to decline, he understood her position. She would still belong in his heart forever. He loved her.

"Yes."

Jack's head snapped up as he saw how Sunna was smiling widely at Elsa, Manny was beaming at him as well. His ears rang as he tried to process what was happening as he took a step closer to her.

"You- what- yes?" Jack let out a breathless laugh as he tried to steady his breathing. She gave him a huge smile which made his insides melt.

God, he loved her so much.

"Yes," Elsa said, her eyes shining. "I choose you. It's always been you, Jack."

In the heat of the moment, not thinking twice about where they were or the fact that they were in the presence of the higher celestials, Jack took Elsa's face in his hands and kissed her.
