Chapter three
For the rest of his time at Hogwarts, Harry concentrated on his owl's and never spoke about Voldemort, the order or anything apart from school work and quidditch. Hermione continued to question him but she had been asking in different ways trying to trick Harry into slipping and telling her what was going on. Harry never did but he was really getting pissed off with Hermione.
Hermione and Ron were surprised when they got off the Hogwarts express and Harry went with Remus and some of the order. The Dursley's were not there. They knew that meant that Harry was going straight to the headquarters of the order of the phoenix for the holidays instead of to his relatives place. Ron believed after the dementors were sent after Harry while he was with the muggles, then it was safer for him to go straight to headquarters. He wasn't sure if Harry would be able to visit the Burrow or if him and his family would end up at headquarters.
Hermione was still angry, no matter what she said, Harry refuse to tell her what had been going on. All he kept saying was the information was placed under secrecy oaths, by Professor Dumbledore. No one could be told. She still didn't like it and was determined to find a way around the oaths so Harry could tell her what was going on. She finally left with her parents after watching Harry walk off with Remus Lupin and the people from the order of the phoenix.
Harry spent the first few weeks alone with Sirius at headquarters. There was the odd meeting, Harry would mainly stay in his room or in the library. He enjoyed his time alone with Sirius but he knew very soon that the house would be full. People were still dying, Voldemort hadn't stopped sending his death eaters out, which meant people like the Weasley's and Hermione would be staying at headquarters. Harry was happy about one thing, he wouldn't be sharing with Ron. Sirius had given Harry Regulus' old room, it was his room and he wouldn't be sharing. They didn't need to share, there were plenty of bedrooms in the large old house.
Once the Weasley's, Hermione and other order of the phoenix members arrived, Harry did spend time with his friends but he mainly spent it with Sirius or alone. If Hermione tried to question him about what he had been doing, Harry would leave the room and go find Sirius.
Everyone at headquarters could tell that Albus, Sirius and Harry knew something they didn't. All Albus said was that this didn't concern anyone else apart from Harry and his connection to Voldemort. Sirius was involved since he was Harry's godfather and legal guardian. Sirius and Harry saw that Molly Weasley wasn't very happy when Albus said Sirius was Harry's guardian. Harry thought to himself that if she really wanted Harry, she should have forced his removal from the Dursley's. She didn't, even after Ron, Fred and George had rescued him before his second year. He had Sirius now, he wasn't going to allow anyone to take his parent's places. Sirius was named godfather by his parents and that's all Harry wanted.
Albus finally agreed that Ginny will have to die. He realised Harry was serious. He would not help unless the girl was dealt with first. So that none of them get in trouble or cause more problems for people who would not want this to happen, no one was going to know. The information about Ginny and what they plan to do was now under the fidelius charm, with Albus as secret keeper since he had the best defence around his mind. They were still trying to work out how to do it where they won't be suspected, they also have to make sure to get the girl alone. Albus had agreed to be the one if Harry and Sirius keep watch and protect his back. Not just to protect his back but also to make sure none of the Weasley's saw what was about to happen, or anyone else. Now they just had to work out how to kill Ginny.
'I had an idea of getting Ginny alone and maybe out of the house,' Sirius said, 'It's not something you will like pup but I think it's the only way.'
Harry stared at his godfather for a minute before he realised what Sirius was about to say.
'I make her believe I like her, I ask her to go somewhere private to talk, which gets her alone,' Harry sighed.
'Right, but you sneak her out of the house. I will make it seem like you and me are talking, privately, but you are really using your cloak with her. I will sneak out using the secret tunnel in my mother's room.'
'How will I get Ginny when she's usually with Hermione or her parents?'
'I will take care of that,' Albus said.
The three of them worked out their plan to get Ginny out of the house and kill her. They will make sure her body is found quickly, just outside the house. With order members coming and going, one of them will see her. They didn't want her left outside for long.
'Before we do this Harry, have you worked out what this power is?' Albus asked.
'Yes, a gun, a muggle weapon. They are powerful as they can kill instantly or just wound. It's a power he doesn't have nor would he use it since it's a muggle idea. If we can sneak into an army base, I can get any type that could be needed. I just need somewhere to practice where no one can see me or hear the gun. I have no other power Professor. The only thing I know that he doesn't is muggle stuff. He may have been raised in a muggle orphanage but he hates them and doesn't bother to learn how advanced their weapons have become. Muggles can kill thousands, millions with just a push of a button. An automatic can kill many in seconds.'
'He would never believe a muggle weapon could hurt him. But how do you know that this gun can kill him?'
'That's where I need to practice. I also need you or Sirius to create the most powerful shield charms you can. I have to be quick so he doesn't conjure something like a huge bolder which would stop the bullet's, but I don't think any type of charm will stop one.'
'Alright. Let's deal with…her first. Over the next hour, you join your friends and maybe give her a smile. She will have hope you are attracted to her.'
Harry sighed but he nodded. Even though he hated the thought of anyone dying, he knew this was the right thing to do. One life, Ginny's life is better than all of there's and maybe thousands more. Now he had to make the girl he didn't like, believe he was interested in her. If she, or Hermione asked why when he hadn't been taking any notice of her, he could say that since he's had to concentrate on the war, it hadn't been the right time to think about relationships. But also, if he did start seeing Ginny or some other girl then he died, it would hurt more. Even though he could still die, why not take any happy times you could get, while you can. Harry was sure he could lie convincingly and make it seem like he always liked Ginny, he just didn't want her hurt if he died. But he also had a lot on his mind so he wouldn't be able to really spend a lot of time with her. This way they could take it slow, talk first, see how it goes from there.
Just before he was due to join his friends and make Ginny believe he liked her, Albus spoke to Harry. He had another way to get the girl out of the house. This way no one would get suspicious of them and no one would ever suspect Albus Dumbledore. It was a safer way to do it, even if it was illegal. But what they planned to do was illegal. Harry wouldn't be suspected because he would be with his godfather and hadn't spoken to Ginny. They decided to do it straight away.
That evening, right after dinner, Sirius had come to get Harry so they could talk, or that's what everyone would believe. Harry and Sirius told everyone that Sirius was telling Harry all about his parents. Even though Sirius was beginning to fill Harry in on his parents, this worked well as everyone did believe it since they had been spending time together talking about James and Lily Potter.
Albus had remained at the house to speak with some of the order who were there. At one time he excused himself, said he needed to use the bathroom, then hidden by a disillusionment charm, he cast the imperius curse on Ginny. He had her say she needed the bathroom before leaving the living room. Albus made sure to put up some powerful charms near the front of the house so no one inside will try to go near the front door. It was a powerful confundus charm that worked on witches and wizards. Once Ginny was out the door, he told her to run across to the park and wait behind the bush and to keep hidden and quiet. Sirius and Harry snuck out of the house using the secret tunnel. They were both under the invisibility cloak. Albus kept watch to make sure no one at Grimmauld place heard or saw anything, then he left to join the others in the park.
Albus did it quickly as he didn't want the girl to suffer under the imperius curse, or in case someone came near them. He had used a wand that he found in the room of requirement. Harry had told him about the room and what type of items were in there. They had to protect themselves so using another wand while casting the imperius curse and the killing curse was the best option. All the order along with Harry, had other wands, in case they were needed or got disarmed. The one Albus used was destroyed right after. Those wands were the ones Albus and the order used at the ministry. Albus only used his wand when fighting Voldemort.
The three of them stared down at Ginny's lifeless body. Sirius did a spell over the girl.
'What was that?' Harry asked his godfather.
'To make sure her soul moves on and not return as a ghost. We can't have her ghost telling her family what we did.'
'Very good thinking Sirius.' Albus said.
'Yeah, it was. I forget that some people don't want to leave so the stay as a ghost,' Harry said.
'Now its time to work on the fidelius charm,' Albus cast the spell on what the three did and made sure he was the holder of the secret. Now no one could get the information that they had been involved in the death of Ginny Weasley. It wouldn't matter if someone gave them veritaserum, they would not be able to say anything about what they did.
Albus levitated Ginny to the small garden of number 12 Grimmauld place while Harry and Sirius snuck back into the house using the tunnel. Once Ginny's body was place on the grass, Albus also used the tunnel to sneak back in. He walked back down the stairs as if he was coming from the bathroom. Harry and Sirius joined everyone ten minutes later.
'Tonks has agreed to take you to that place tomorrow night Harry,' Albus said.
'Okay, she would be the best, having a muggleborn father.'
'Yes, apart from that, she is also an auror who knows both worlds. It gives you both legal protection.'
'Where are you going, Harry?' Hermione asked.
'That is confidential Miss Granger. I've told you before that there are some things Harry knows or has to do that he can't share.'
'I just thought that it sounds like this involves the muggle world and I am a muggleborn, then maybe I could help.'
'You could end up arrested, Tonks on the other hand is a law enforcement officer and she can give Harry permission to be…where they are going. Now please drop this as it does not concern you.'
Hermione nodded nervously, 'Yes, Professor.'
Albus was getting ready to return to Hogwarts, along with Minerva when Remus hurried into the house. He instantly got Albus' attention and the two men went into another room. Remus explained about Ginny, he also said he moved her into the room off the entrance way and sealed the room. Albus was able to pull off looking upset but also worried.
Just as Remus was telling Albus about Ginny Weasley, Sirius noticed Harry's face. He was in pain and he was having a vision. He couldn't allow the others in the room to notice so he quickly pulled Harry out of the room and into the drawing room. He had to wait until Harry was back. He hated seeing Harry like this but there was nothing he could do.
