Chapter seven
Sirius did end up buying a house, one that was big enough to give them some space if they wanted, but it wasn't huge. Harry didn't care, he finally had a place he could call home. The house was on some acres so Sirius built a small quidditch pitch so Harry could keep playing during the holidays, if he wanted to. Harry did want to and wanted to fly with his godfather. If Ron ever ended up coming back and try out for the team, they could practice at Harry's place and Ron's place.
Harry went on to be in the top five students after their sixth year results were known. He always knew he could do better and it took him a while before he realised what he had been doing.
At first, he did what he did with the Dursley's. He downplayed his intelligence so he would not do as good at school as he knew he could. The Dursley's punished him all the time if he did better than Dudley, yet anyone could do better than Dudley. At Hogwarts, he did the same but he also allowed Ron to talk him into skiving off his work, a lot. He realised that he agreed with Ron because he didn't want to lose his first ever friend. While Ron was grieving for his sister, Harry basically spent a lot of his nights studying, which is why he did so well during his owls. When Ron was back to normal, Harry would be telling him that he would not be skiving off his work anymore. He would play chess with Ron but only after he had finished his work.
Harry took Gryffindor to win the quidditch cup and he couldn't help feeling proud when he handed the cup to Professor McGonagall.
Harry never had any trouble from Hermione from the time Dumbledore spoke to her. She began to do better in class, but she didn't end up at the top of the year. Lisa Turpin of Ravenclaw took out the number one spot, Daphne Greengrass got second, Harry was third, Hermione fourth and Sally was fifth.
All through that year at Hogwarts it quiet, no danger and no trouble-makers. It was the best times he had at Hogwarts. He also had Sally, who were now talking about the future. After the last quidditch game, scouts had begun to approach some players. Harry was one that every team scout approached. He thanked them all but said he hasn't decided what he wanted to do yet and since he still had one more year of his education, he would have time to figure out what career he wanted. He wasn't saying no to a quidditch career, he just needed more time to think and to go over other careers before he made a final decision. They scouts understood and said he was making the right decision. They still hoped Harry would join one of their teams, for now, they would continue to approach others who might want to play straight away.
The day before to leave Hogwarts for the holidays, Harry finally spoke to Hermione about why she kept on him all the time about what he was doing but also about Ginny.
'I always hoped if you ended up marrying Ginny and I married Ron, we would be family. I don't really get on with anyone in my family. Don't get me wrong, I love my parents, but they can't really be part of my life now I'm going to be living and working in the wizarding world. From the moment I found out Ginny liked you and I had begun to have feelings for Ron, I kept dreaming of us being part of a big happy family.'
'To tell you the truth Hermione, even if I had been attracted to Ginny, which I never was. I couldn't be involved too much with the Weasley family because of Molly Weasley. She told me to begin calling her mum, I said no, but she kept going on about it. I finally said I would never allow anyone to take my mother's place, not in any way. She did glance at Ginny a lot and I had a feeling she thought once we got together, she would finally get me to call her mum. It was never going to happen. It wasn't just the fact Ginny was a fan-girl, it was also how she liked to yell, how she had to have her own way and it reminded me of how Molly runs the family. I couldn't be a part of that. Sally is perfect for me, in every way. We talk things out before coming to a decision or a compromise. If you got to know Sally instead of giving her death glares, you would see that. You have something in common, apart from being muggleborns and smart. She has drifted away from her family because she's a witch and they can't really be involved in her life. She also knows that her children will probably end up in our world, not there's. She still loves them and plans to visit them, a lot, but the moment we leave here, she's moving in with me. Sirius gave me the third floor to convert for us to use.'
'Do you forgive me for questioning you all the time?'
'Yes, but I had no choice but to talk to the headmaster. I told you about the oaths yet you kept going on and on. You got so annoying that I was beginning to dislike you and I didn't want that.'
'I know, when he spoke to me, I watched you a lot. I realised I was driving you away and why you spent so much time in your dorm room instead of the common room. Even though we all end up with separate lives once we're adults, I just felt like I was losing my best friend.'
'You were because you were going about things all wrong. First with harassing me all the time about information I can't share, then about my girlfriend. Sally is my life and we will be married one day. From our very first date, we both knew we wanted a future together. You and I can stay friends but you have to make an effort to get on with her otherwise I will support Sally over you, especially since she will end up my wife one day.'
'I get that. I'll apologise to her and hope we can become friendly. We might end up friends, that would happen later, if it does, we'll just have to wait and see.'
'It could take time, mainly because of your attitude since I began dating sally. Do you still like Ron?'
'I do but he changed so much after Ginny died. One good thing is he began to study. I asked him why, he said he wanted to be an auror so he could make sure no more innocent people die. Even though he heard how Crouch said you would make a great auror, it made him think of it. He knew then that he would need better grades. But after what happened to his sister, he wanted to help stop things like that happening again. I think he also wants to protect the rest of his family and being an auror is something that could help with that.'
Harry sighed. Even though he was involved in Ginny's death, he felt sorry for the Weasley family. Ron decided to use his sister's death to help their world stop people like dark wizards trying to take over. He had a feeling that Ron would end up being great as an auror, even if he decided to become one due to the death of his little sister.
Lisa Turpin was offered the head girl badge but turned it down because she wanted to concentrate on her studies. Sally ended up as head girl. No one was surprised when Harry was offered head boy. Apart from being the boy with the highest marks, he also saved the school multiple times and won the triwizard tournament.
Hermione had been upset that she never got the head girl badge, but three girls got better marks and all had been prefects with good reviews from students and staff. It took Harry to speak with her for her to understand that the people with the highest scores always got asked first, but they also had to be a student that the other students listened too. Hermione let her studies lapse, so even though she had picked back up, she still wasn't first in their year. Out of the girls, she was fourth, fifth overall. Harry also explained how most people were put off by her attitude which was another reason she wasn't made head girl.
Hermione finally got around to apologising to Sally and explained her reasons. They spoke for a while and when their conversation ended, both knew they would never be close friends, but they could be friendly. They both wanted that since staying friends meant Hermione wouldn't lose Harry as a friend, which would hurt Harry. Sally knew this so she was willing to be friendly towards Hermione.
It was the end of his official magical education. Harry knew he would continue to learn. You never stopped learning. New spells were often invented and Harry planned to work on a few himself. For now, he couldn't stop thinking over his time at Hogwarts. He had some good time and some bad times, a lot of bad times.
Harry did go on to play quidditch, for the Falmouth Falcons. He found out that his father had played for them for two seasons before he went into hiding. Harry decided to keep honouring his father by playing for his team. He knew once he got older and had to retire that he would find something else to do, right now he had no idea what they would be. But he had time to work on that, after his quidditch career which he hoped would be a long one.
Sally went on to become a healer. She told Harry that it would help when he got injured doing his dangerous dives while playing quidditch. That comment made Harry laugh, he also knew it was true. The teams did have their own healers, but Harry liked the idea that his wife would take care of him if he was injured during a game.
Harry and Sally went on to marry a year after leaving Hogwarts. Even though Harry stayed friendly with Ron, he ended up better friends with Neville, so he ended up Harry's best man. Since Sally was good friends with Susan, Megan and Hannah, she decided on Hannah as her bridesmaid since Neville and Hannah were engaged to be married. It worked well during the reception. Even though there were a lot of people invited, including the Weasley's. Harry could tell by the look on Molly Weasley's face that she wasn't happy with who Harry married. He ignored her. Harry loved his wife and believed they were meant to be. The only time Molly didn't scowl was when Albus Dumbledore presided over the wedding of Harry to sally. Harry hoped the woman who respected Albus would see that if he didn't believe Harry should marry Sally, he wouldn't conduct the ceremony.
None of that mattered to Harry or Sally. They just couldn't be happier. They had great careers and now they were finally married. Even though both wanted children, they decided to wait for at least ten years before Sally would fall pregnant.
Sirius Black ended up dating then living with Aurora Sinistra, the astronomy teacher of Hogwarts. A year later their first child was born, a son they called James Harry Black.
Harry ended up captain of the English team and took his team to the world cup, where England won against Egypt. Even though many players retire after playing for years, Harry didn't and continued to win games.
Sally did end up retiring after ten years as a healer so she could begin a family with Harry. She said she might return once the children were at Hogwarts, but for now, she wanted to be a mother.
Sally and Harry ended up having four children. Two boys and two girls. One thing Harry said was he didn't want his children to have his parent's names, but they could be used for middle names. Orion James Potter was the oldest boy, after Sirius Orion Black and James Charlus Potter. The second son was named Marcus Sirius Potter after Sally's dad and Harry's godfather. The twin girls were named after Lily, in a way. They were named Jasmine Iris and Rose Holly Potter.
From the moment Harry had the vision of how Voldemort survived and how they dealt with the dark wizard, his life had done a complete turnaround. He got to live with his godfather, he made many more friends and he got himself a wonderful girlfriend who later became his wife and mother of his children.
Harry had everything he ever wanted and he couldn't ask for more.
The end:
