Chapter twelve
Time skip
Harry and Susan passed their newt's with all O's and at the age of sixteen. Amelia had contacted a friend in America so they could be tested in that country, as all the owls and newts were the same in every country. You just had to mark down what subjects you wanted to be tested in.
With many discussions, Harry and Susan knew what they wanted to do for a career, they just weren't sure if it was possible. Susan could go on to be a healer, but Harry again had the same problem, Dumbledore would find him.
Harry had been seriously thinking of using the book on Dumbledore, mainly so he could have a normal life without having to worry about the old man trying to kidnap him or somehow force him into a loveless marriage with Ginny Weasley. If they seriously tried that, Harry would use the book and not just on Dumbledore but also on Ginny so he would be single again.
Apart from the odd letter from Ron, filling him in on what he knows, which wasn't a lot, Harry did hear from Neville and the twins. The twins explained that Hermione and their mother had sent him a lot of howlers. Harry wrote back to say he never received one as his home was enchanted to stop howlers and things like portkeys. Neville and Hannah did visit a lot, during the holidays, but they would write when they were at Hogwarts and tell them things they might have heard, which wasn't a lot. Neville sometimes overheard Hermione and Ginny talking about Harry. Most ignored Neville when he was reading a herbology book, but he always kept a listen out in case he heard something he should know or Harry should know.
Even though Harry and Susan did know what they wanted to do, they decided to take a year and do some travelling. With the help of Amelia, she was able to get them portkey's and supply them with polyjuice potion. They already knew they would travel the muggle way a lot and stay in muggle hotels, but they would also use muggle disguises. Amelia thought it was the best way to go, but also, to take time away from everyone and everything. Amelia also got a promise from Mad-eye, if he heard that Albus may be tracking Harry or one of his order had found him, Mad-eye was to tell her straight away so she could inform Susan and Harry. Even though the order of the phoenix was illegal, it was still running. What Albus didn't know was Mad-eye was her spy. He was gathering information and giving it to Amelia. She wasn't sure what she would do with it yet, but she knew eventually she would use it. She just wanted Susan and Harry safe. She believed the young couple deserved a holiday, so that's what Harry and Susan did, they travelled, a lot.
Minister Bones had organised with the goblins for Harry to be at Gringotts late at night and just before he turned seventeen. Harry was going to claim his family's vault now he was of age, but because Dumbledore had not stopped trying to get Harry to return to Hogwarts or interfere with his life. Amelia and Harry knew Dumbledore would either be to be at Gringotts waiting for him or he would have his some of order of the phoenix there waiting for him. Mad-eye was going to help by making sure he was at Gringotts, if he could swing it. He would get Harry away if anyone in Dumbledore's group got hold of him.
Harry signed the forms right as it turned to July thirty first, then he was handed a key and a folder with the information on what the Potter family vault contained. Amelia and Susan were with him. They were able to use the floo in Gringotts to leave and no one realised Harry had been there. Mad-eye had been there, yet none of the order was, nor any of Albus's other supporters.
The following day, the order of the phoenix was seen in Gringotts and outside the bank, waiting. It was Bill Weasley that told his mother that Harry had already been to claim his family vault. Molly in turn informed Dumbledore. She was still furious that Harry refused to see how perfect her daughter was for him.
Harry and Ron had continued to write over the last two years. They might not have seen each other, but they were still friends. Harry also had been given a promise from Ron that he would never tell anyone what Harry wrote in his letters. What Harry didn't tell Ron was that his letters were charmed so he couldn't show them to anyone, nor could anyone read them if they saw it lying on his bed. Amelia had taught Harry and Susan how to charm their letters so no one would find out what the young couple where up to. Another thing Harry did though, he never sent his letters to the Burrow during the holidays, he would send them to Neville, who would then write to Ron so no one would figure out Harry was actually writing to Ron.
Harry had stopped all communication with Hermione and with Sirius. It hurt him that his godfather supported Dumbledore and not him. But when Sirius wrote that unless Harry changed his mind and move in with him, then he was not Prong's son. That letter had come right after he had officially moved into the Bones' home and Amelia had taught Harry how to do a howler. He sent one to Sirius saying Prongs would be ashamed of Padfoot for supporting anyone other than Prongs' son. Harry made sure Sirius knew he would never forgive him and wanted nothing to do with him, ever again and now considered all of them including Sirius, his enemy. Harry knew that would shock them, but he didn't care, he was really getting annoyed with all of them. He still hadn't used the book on Dumbledore…yet, but he hadn't ruled it out.
Some people that originally joined the order of the phoenix because Dumbledore said he knew Voldemort would return, had began to leave. No one ever got any proof that Voldemort was still around so they had begun to question Albus and said if he ever found proof then they might return. Right now, they didn't believe him, or trust him when the only thing he kept going on about was getting Harry Potter back to Hogwarts. They all knew Harry had taken and passed his owls yet that didn't seem to concern Albus Dumbledore. The order had been meeting in secret, but they also realise they could end up in Azkaban. Without proof that Voldemort would return and the risk of Azkaban, they didn't think it was worth it. They would find out soon enough that Harry had taken and passed his newts, which meant he had legally finished his education.
Susan watched Harry as he sat at his desk, sketching something, 'What are you doing love?'
Harry grinned as he looked up, 'Well, because he refused to stop trying to get hold of me and until something was done to stop him, I figured I could design and make my own brooms. If he does end up giving in, then I will apply to Firebolt and nimbus. For now, well, it won't hurt to see if I can do it myself.'
Susan smiled then looked over at what Harry had been drawing, 'So you want to start your own broom company?'
'Yeah, but only because of him and that lot. I know what's needed in a broom for the different positions. I love my Firebolt, but it's not the right broom for beaters or the keeper. Nimbus would be good for beaters and any broom with a tight turning would be good for keepers. You need a fast but very manoeuvrable broom for chasers. But I also thought of kids, like when they are young and learning to fly, or like at Hogwarts when they have their first flying lessons. We know some parent's just don't want their kids to fly until they begin at Hogwarts, which is wrong. I think with enough safety features on the broom and the ground, so they couldn't fly far or very fast, then kids could start from the age of five.'
'You do know brooms Harry, so if it's something you want, then I say do it. There is no use hanging out hoping he would stop, you can't put your life on hold in the hope he will, so do what you feel is right.'
'Thanks babe. It's not like I have to work, but I would go crazy with nothing to do. Think of this, you can work and I can look after our home, when we get married, but I'm working as well.'
'Then when we do buy our own home, we make sure it has an office for you along with a work room, which has to be big enough.'
'Yeah, I thought the same thing.'
'I originally come up to tell you it's time to get ready. Our guests will be arriving soon. It wouldn't look good for either of us to be late for our own engagement party.'
Harry laughed as he stood and wrapped his arms around his soon-to-be-wife.
Everyone had a great time at the engagement party for Harry and Susan. Harry did end up inviting Ron and the twins, Ron declined mainly in case anyone found out and if they did it would cause trouble for the Weasley family. Ron said he wouldn't put anything past his mother, she may even make him leave. The twins came, they didn't care what their mother or sister thought. They had their own flat so they didn't have to worry about being kicked out. They also didn't care what Dumbledore said to them. Harry had given them the two thousand galleons to begin their shop, so they will always be grateful to Harry for that but they also believed their mother, sister, Hermione, Dumbledore, Sirius, Remus and many others were wrong when it came to Harry, so, they supported Harry and not the others. Neville was invited and Harry had asked him to be his best man. There were pictures taken of the happy couple, which would be published in Witch Weekly the following day.
During the party, there was a loud screeching noise from the fireplace. All Amelia did was smirk and told everyone it was fine, just part of the security that she had placed on her home.
Harry and Susan grinned at each other. They knew someone who wasn't invited tried to enter Bones manor. They didn't know who it was, but they had a feeling it was either Dumbledore, Molly, maybe even Ginny. They knew news of a party being held at Bones manor would get out, just not what the party was for. They decided to forget about all those that had been causing problems and just enjoy their party.
A special edition copy of Witch Weekly was released the following day. On the front cover was a picture of Harry and Susan at their engagement party. There were many pictures inside on who was invited. Dumbledore and his band of followers would find out exactly how much support Harry had and just who those people were.
There was a statement from Harry, how he began dating Susan during his fourth year at Hogwarts, they ended up serious and in love by the summer holidays. Due to interference from certain people, he refuse to return to Hogwarts, nor could he see some of his old friends. He even mentioned how Ginny and Molly Weasley were going to give him a love potion so he would break up with Susan and date Ginny. At first Harry wasn't going to name them, but he was sick of how they believed they were right and Harry should just do what they said. He also named Hermione. He made sure to write that his own godfather, who had never been there for Harry at all during his life was also supporting Dumbledore and not Harry. He made sure to write that James and Lily Potter would be ashamed of their old friend Sirius Black. They had one friend betray them already, now it seems they had another friend betray them and what they wanted for their son. Harry had organised for Witch Weekly to send a copy to the Granger's, with a letter Harry had written to them so they would realise just how much Dumbledore had lied and brainwashed their daughter. Harry wanted the Granger's to realised just what was going on with their daughter
Harry knew that article would shock people, but he was really starting to get pissed off with all of them. He figured it was time to use the book. Once the old man was gone the others should stop, because they wouldn't have such a powerful person to speak up for them if it was needed. If they didn't, he would use the book again, this time it would be Molly and Ginny Weasley. When them gone, there would be no reason to get Harry away from Susan.
For now, he just wanted to enjoy his time with his fiance and also plan their wedding. They didn't want a long engagement, so they were already talking over their plans.
