Chapter fourteen

The aurors took their time to investigate everything that Ginny Weasley was involved in, but also the members of the order of the phoenix. First they waited for a week to use veritaserum on Ginny. They did that in case Molly was able to find some way around the truth potion.

Some of what they heard from Ginny was expected, some was not, they were very surprised at what they heard. She was sent straight back to Azkaban even though she kept begging to remain in the ministry holding cells. Due to the seriousness of her crime, trying to kill someone, it was straight to Azkaban until the trial.

Amelia read the report on the answers Ginny gave and like the aurors, some answers she was not expecting. She would have to tell Harry and Susan, but she had time.

Arthur had talked the rest of his family into giving the vow. When Hermione refused, all the Weasley's told her to leave and never come near them again. What Hermione didn't know was she was already blackballed from the ministry. It didn't matter that she had all O's in newt scores, she would never be employed at the ministry for magic. The governors also did the same with Hogwarts. They also passed over Minerva McGonagall for headmistress and anyone that had been part of the order of the phoenix would never be employed at Hogwarts. The job of head of Hogwarts was given to Pomona Sprout. She was now the headmistress, Filius Flitwick as the deputy. Minerva asked, grudgingly if she could remain as a teacher, she was turned down. Minerva McGonagall officially retired from teaching and left Hogwarts to return to her families home. She wasn't seen again.

So far only the Weasley's along Hestia Jones and Remus Lupin from the order had agreed to give the vow, the others refused. If all didn't agree, then Amelia would be pushing for Ginny to be sent through the veil or kissed by a dementor. They still had a bit of time before Ginny's trial, but Amelia, Harry and Susan knew that most would give the vow but there were a few that would not give the vow. Either way it would mean Ginny was out of their lives, for good. After everything and what Ginny tried to do to Susan, Harry just didn't care if the girl ended up kissed or if she was just killed outright by being sent through the veil. He was just glad she was out of their lives.

Harry was informed by Dobby that Amelia was in the living room, so he put down his tools and cleaned up.

'Amelia, is this official or family business?'

'A bit of both. First official, Ginny's questioning.'

'We might as well sit,' Harry took his favourite seat, Amelia handed Harry a copy of the report before sat opposite him, 'So it was Molly who placed the curse on the letter for Susan?'

'Yes, she will be arrested by the end of the day. Now, she did love you but she did not believe you would be the type of husband she wanted. Albus told her that you will die and probably within a few years, at most and she would be entitled to everything.'

'So it comes down to money?' Harry sighed.

'And your reputation. Hermione was promised a job at Hogwarts, along with access to Albus's rare book collection. They have now been confiscated by the ministry. Most of those books should have been in the library at Hogwarts, yet I do understand why they were removed. Hermione will never be able to work at Hogwarts or the ministry, so sooner or later she will probably return to the muggle world. You know already the Weasley's refused to have anything to do with her when she would not take the vow. She has lost any support she had so there is no use remaining in the wizarding world when she won't be able to work. Now apart from Ron, the twins and the older two Weasley children, all were promised money, your money, once you die. Arthur did not want it, but he knew about it. He never once did anything illegal. The order never officially broke up even with it was ordered, they were working with Albus to kidnap you and keep you hidden. Ginny did not know where that would be, but when the aurors searched Albus's old home, they found a cellar that had been converted to a cell, but one that had a large bed. Since they never technically did anything, none of the order can be prosecuted. They are all being sent large fines for their membership to the order and been informed that they will never work at the ministry or Hogwarts. It does mean that Arthur and Percy lost their jobs.'

'Did they believe Dumbledore about Voldemort and how I have to die before he can be beaten?'

'Yes, he explained to them that you had a piece of Voldemort's soul lodged behind your scar which is why you get pain and why you were able to destroy Quirrell. Even Sirius Black and Remus Lupin believed you would either turn dark because of the soul or keep Voldemort from dying. I am unsure if they still believe it though. With the fine, I sent a letter explaining that I had you examined by an unspeakable, which proves Albus lied. There is no soul behind your scar. They have all been warned, one toe out of line and they will end up in Azkaban until their trials and their trials will not be done quickly, up to a year they can be held until their trial. Without Albus I doubt any of them will risk their freedom.'

'No, I don't believe they will do anything now. Their powerful supporter is dead and they should realise that Voldemort is gone. Ron would have told them I stopped having pain in my scar right after Quirrell. Hopefully they will finally open their eyes to the lies and manipulation of Albus Dumbledore.'

'I believe most of them will. Ginny is already in Azkaban, for life, Molly is about to join her and everyone else has lost their jobs. Only Hermione is still preaching everything Albus said. Sooner or later she will realise what she has lost.'

'After the wedding, I did get a letter from the Granger's. They basically disowned Hermione. They did give her a little bit of money, until she could find work. At the time she could still stay at the Burrow. I don't really care what happens to her, not anymore, but I'm curious as to where she is living, especially if she's having trouble finding work.'

'I believe she is staying with your godfather, I also believe they are now in a relationship. From the information I've received from Mad-eye, this is not about love. She must have found out that no one will hire her. Sirius has no support at all since he supported Albus and not his godson, who had already lost his parents. Even after all this time, people support the-boy-who-lived. I believe they came to an arrangement. Sirius has the money to support her, she can also give him children. No other women will look at him because he wasn't there for you even as a baby. That's not the type of man they want. He knows he made a mistake, he also knows it's too late to rectify it as he thinks you would believe he's only supporting you because he has no choice. None of this really concerns you or Susan, I just figured you had the right to know.'

'Will you be removing the guards from around Susan?'

Amelia smiled, 'Was it just you who figured it out or did Susan also work it out?'

'We knew you wouldn't risk someone kidnapping her. She decided not to say anything but she also felt safe knowing there were aurors close by. Susan found out that I had Dobby watching her while she was at St Mungo's. She knew I was worried, so she let it go. Well, I got an offer from Firebolt and they liked my designs and ideas. Now the old man is gone and the two Weasley woman locked up, I can finally get to work on what I want to do.'

'You can, but I will keep you updated with anything you might need to know. Tell Susan I will see her on Friday for dinner.'

'I will,' Harry hugged Amelia. He waited until she left before he headed back to his work room. His thoughts were on the book, 'Now I may never have to use it again, but it's there if things change,' Harry thought only Hermione and maybe Sirius might cause problems for him and Susan. If they did and it was dangerous or deadly, he would use the book. If they were just annoying, then a statement printed in Witch Weekly might be needed. He had a feeling that Sirius would not do anything. He had been in Azkaban, he would not want to return. Hermione was stubborn and always believed she was right, she would be the one to watch. At least now he can finally do what he always wanted, design and make great brooms.

Susan noticed over the following weeks just how relaxed and happy Harry was. He smiled more, he laughed, a lot and would often take her in his arms and kiss her, passionately. She knew he finally had everything he wanted, including his perfect job.

Harry and Susan were eating breakfast when the mail arrived. It was only a few minutes later that Dobby brought them the mail. On the front page of the Daily Prophet was two separate pictures, of Sirius and Hermione. The article was about them marrying, but it was not an official photo or statement. One reported speculated that those two wanted to keep working on what Albus Dumbledore believed. One was to convince Harry Potter he had to work for them, to save everyone from Voldemort. Many people had begun to say that Dumbledore had gone crazy in his later years and had somehow convinced people that Voldemort never died. Some of the old order was questioned, they all said they realised that Dumbledore was living in a fantasy. He never showed proof and a lot of them suffered for following the old man. There was a small article on the second last page, near the obituaries, from Hermione Black. She wrote that unless Harry died, they would all suffer. She wanted Harry to realise what he needed to do. Even though Amelia had released a statement about how the unspeakables had proven Harry did not have a piece of Voldemort's soul behind his scar, Hermione refused to listen because she just couldn't get over her loyalty to Albus Dumbledore, and her belief that she was always right.

'She has lost everything and still won't give up,' Susan said as she finished reading the paper.

'She was always like that. If she believed she was right, nothing could convince her she was wrong. I think there is something mentally wrong with her.'

'Maybe we should speak with the head healer of the mind damage ward.'

Harry sat back and stared at his wife, 'If they believe something is wrong with her, they will force her to St Mungo's for an examination. If they find something wrong then she will be a patient until they say otherwise.'

'Yes, and nothing she nor her husband could do anything about it.'

'Make an appointment for both of us to talk to him so we can tell him what we know, especially about her behaviour.'

'I'll do that the moment I get to work. So what was the letter from your boss about?'

'At first I was worried he was going to fire me. I mean I'll be at work soon, so why did he feel the need to write?'

'So what was his reason?'

'Tomorrow there will a front page announcement about their new broom. It's my design which will be in the statement.'

Susan jumped up then sat on Harry's lap, she snogged him right there at the table. Even though their hands began to wander, they realised they had to stop since they both had to get to work.
