Chapter fifteen
The following day the front page of the Daily Prophet announced the new broom that the Firebolt company was releasing in a few days. The Lightning Bolt was the fastest broom in the world. They named it the Lightning Bolt after his designer, Harry Potter. That was the first time anyone apart from Susan, Amelia and the people at Firebolt knew Harry was working for the broom company.
Harry was blown away that they named it after him, without using the-boy-who-lived. He was already proud that his broom was now officially being sold. He also knew that many of the quidditch teams would buy the broom mainly because if they wanted to be competitive, they would need a fast broom. He was given the first broom, the official number 1. It had a lightning bolt on it and the letters HP written under the number. Harry planned to send Ron and the twins a broom each, for their support, even over their mother and sister. He would always remain friends with them and so far, they still want to remain friends with Harry.
It only took two days before all the major quidditch teams put their orders in for the Lightning Bolt. Harry did ask his wife if she wanted one, but Susan wasn't a flyer, she said if she needed to fly, she would use Harry's old broom.
Even though Harry felt good about himself, he couldn't help smiling when he was told by Susan, Amelia and many others how proud they were of him.
It didn't take long for the head healer at St Mungo's had the orders ready for Hermione Black to be admitted to St Mungo's, to the mind damaged ward. At first they were going to have a statement put in the Daily Prophet so Hermione would turn herself in so she could be examined. Harry told them that it wouldn't work, Hermione would refuse because she would believe that they were wrong and there was nothing wrong with her. She would then basically go into hiding. If she needed to go out, she would go into the muggle world. They decided to just have some of their people watching for her, then take her the moment she was seen. Harry did visit the Granger's to explain, they were actually relieved. Their daughter was ill, which meant she could get healed and they would have her back again.
It was only a week later that Hermione was seen in Diagon alley. She was sneered at and many actually pushed her when she was seen. Most shops refused her entry, but the one that got her angry was Flourish and Blotts. It had her picture and other pictures of people who were banned from the shop. As Hermione began to scream and sent hexes at the window of the shop, two med-witches stunned her, then made sure she had on special manacles the healers used for dangerous patients.
Amelia, Harry and Susan were notified straight away that Hermione was now in the locked and secured ward at St Mungo's. Sirius was also notified, his letter actually went further. It explained what the healers found when they examined his wife. No one, but the head healer could release Hermione Black, but that would only happen after she had been treated. She had basically been brainwashed by Albus Dumbledore, but he had also used rare and dark potions to make sure she stayed loyal to him. The healers believed it would take years before she would be well. Sirius realised just how far he had fallen and how far Albus Dumbledore had gone. But Sirius knew there was nothing left for him. He filed for divorce, he sent a letter with his apology to Harry, had the contents of his vault transferred to another country, then he packed up and left. No one would ever see Sirius Black again.
After the information about Hermione was released, especially about the potions Dumbledore used, many of the old crowd realised how much they had wronged Harry. He received dozens of letters, all apologising, all saying he would not have to worry about them ever again.
Susan saw Harry staring at the pile of letters, 'Is there something in one of them that is bothering you love?'
Harry looked up and smiled at his wife, 'No, but it got me wondering about the two Weasley woman. Did he use potions on them as well, did he use it on Snape? He may have even used it on the Dursley's. I'm just curious as they seemed to go too far with everything to do with me.'
'He probably did,' Susan sat on Harry's lap, 'I can mention it to the healers about Ginny and Molly. They are both in Azkaban so they could be examined.'
'No, then I would always be wondering if they might do something else even if they get healed. Ginny wanted you to die, painfully and Molly was determined to get me with her daughter and get my money even if it meant murdering you. I don't want to have to worry all the time. Even if it was a potion, they still were going to kill you. Hermione never went that far, so the potion didn't make them murderers.'
'I get why you don't want to think about them being released, so let's just leave it. At least now they all realised just how crazy the old man was and you were right to get away from him.'
'Yeah, some want to make it up to me somehow, I'm not interested. I just want them to leave us alone. I've got a good life with you and Amelia. We have some great friends, loyal and trustworthy. I don't need anything else, well, until it's time we have kids.'
'Then let's just put that part of our lives to rest. We both have each other, we have jobs we want and love and in the very near future we will have our kids. Let's just say now, it's the start of our new lives.'
Harry grinned, then kissed his wife. Minutes later he was carrying a giggling Susan up to their bedroom.
It was only a year later that the head healer informed Amelia that Hermione will never be right again. The potions Albus used on her would eventually destroy her mind completely.
When Amelia informed Harry and Susan both were saddened that someone that held so much respect could do that to a girl with such a brilliant mind. Now Hermione would never be as she was.
It took Harry a week of thinking about Hermione and how she would be, forever. That's when he decided it would be kinder if Hermione died. She wouldn't have to suffer, as she was now. Even though he never thought he would use the book on someone who wasn't dangerous, he believed this would let Hermione cross over and be with any loved ones that had died.
When Harry wrote Hermione's name in the book, he ended up with tears running down his face.
'Goodbye, Hermione. I hope your afterlife is better than this one was,' Harry stared at the book before he placed it once again in the hidden compartment. 'I hope I never have to use this book ever again.'
Susan stayed working as a healer for twelve years before she finally said it was time to start their family. Harry worked it with his boss that he could work part time at the Firebolt company and work part time from home. He wanted to be involved in raising his kids and not just see them only for a couple of hours after work.
Harry had ended up designing the brooms for the different positions in quidditch that all the major teams now used. He loved his job, but now he could stay home part time so he could spend more time with his family.
Susan gave birth to twins girls, they named them Jasmine and Holly. Susan said it was for Harry's mum. Her name was a flower, so her granddaughters also had names of flowers. Harry loved their names and he admitted he was glad neither of the girls were named Lily. He thought it would make the girls life harder if she was named after Lily Potter, who sacrificed her life for her son, which allowed Harry to kill Voldemort.
A picture and a statement was released about the birth of the Potter twins. The Weasley twins instantly said they would take the girls under their wing, until they got a howler from Susan who threatened to cut off their bits. Harry couldn't help laughing at the way the Weasley twins grovelled to his wife. Susan is normally an easy going woman, but she was like Harry when it came to her family. She would do what was necessary to protect them, even from a couple of pranksters like Fred and George Weasley.
Neville and Ron ended up being named godfathers to the girls, Amelia was their official grandmother even if she was really their great aunt. Hannah and Sally were named godmothers.
It took until the twins were born before Amelia got all the changes in the ministry that she wanted. Now anyone could be questioned using veritaserum. No one got a job due to their blood. It went on their newt scores and aptitude tests. Amelia was able to work on a magical public library. She was also able to help the governors make necessary changes to Hogwarts. Now Hogwarts would not be a boarding school. She felt the teachers and other students had too much influence over students when they were there for so long. Quidditch was still held, teams just had to work on staying later, after their last class so they could train. Their games were held on Friday instead of the weekend. If the games went longer, they would end it and begin again on Monday.
When Jasmine and Holly turned three, Susan gave birth to twin boys. Even though Susan and Harry said the boys might be their last, they were not ruling out more. The boys were named Edgar and Charlus. The girls looked like Susan but they had darker red hair where Susan had light red hair. The girls also had emerald green eyes. The boys looked like both parents but had dark hair like their father, yet it wasn't messy like Harry's hair was.
Amelia finally retired from the minister's job, but she accepted the position as chief witch of the Wizengamot. She asked Harry and Susan if they would accept positions on the wizarding examination board. Since they only had to test students for owls and newts, all Harry and Susan had to do was occasionally study so they were up to date with what the students were learning. Both accepted since it wasn't a full time job. Harry could still work for Firebolt and Susan was still able to stay home with her children and begin them on their lessons.
Life for the Bones/Potter family was good. Harry had the family he always wanted. He loved his wife and children, he also loved Amelia who had become like a mother to him. He thought about how his life had changed when he found the deathly hallows death book and knew if he didn't find it, he might not have lived to even finish his education. He might have killed people using the book, but to Harry, the ones that died did not deserve to live, all except Hermione. She was the only one who should not have died, but thanks to one man, Albus Dumbledore, he destroyed her life.
One day Harry planned to tell Susan about the book. He would also tell his children when they were a lot older. When Harry died he wanted to make sure his children and their families would have a good life, so the book could be used if anymore dark witch or wizards turned up. For now, the book stayed locked in his desk, where Harry hoped to never use it again.
Harry stared at his wife while she read to their children. He said to himself his life was perfect. And it was.
The end:
