Okay let me explain. I haven't be updating for a while. I won't blame this on writer's block or whatever. I've just lost a bit of enthusiasm for this story. Don't worry I still will finish this, but I fell it's sort of holding me back a bit. Also, I would have published this 3 day ago. My wifi just decided to drop dead as I was finishing and I'm currently borrowing my friends computer. Okay, that is a sort of an excuse. Thank you for reviewing, favouriting or following this story. Your contributions are very much appreciated. I'm wondering whether doing a re write, things could have been so much better! This story just sort of started as a sort of starter, I never expected to get this far. I just basically went along with the plot. Fortunately, I've got the whole story planned out now. Now, I have a question for you. How many more chapters should I do and how many words in each one? Thanks a lot. No need for disclaimer I think as it's obvious I don't own Harry Potter. For one thing, I don't even look like Rowling, but you wouldn't know anyway. Lol :)

Flashback:

At six o'clock they knocked on Hagrid's door. There was a muffled thump and Hagrid yelled, "Who is it?" Harry said it was them and Hagrid opened the door. But when they looked inside, they got a huge, unwelcoming surprise.

End of flashback

Harry, Hermione and Terry all stared at the scene before their eyes. The hut still looked the same, except their was an extra room which Harry supposed Hagrid had added. It looked perfectly ordinary, so why were they all so surprised and horrified? It was because of the dragon egg on the table. But not any ordinary dragon egg. No, this was possibly one of the most dangerous dragons ever, only topped by one. It was a Hungarian Horntail. The Hungarian Horntail was one of the most vicious dragons ever. They were immense in size and could breathe fire up to 50 feet. It had spiky scales, all around it's body. They stared at the innocent looking egg on the table. Finally, Hermione croaked out to Hagrid who was beaming, "H-hagrid, is that a Hungarian Horntail?"

"Yep?" said Hagrid cheerfully, "bought it at 200 galleons! A slap of a deal!"

"Er, Hagrid," said Harry tentatively, "where exactly did you get this egg?" Hagrid suddenly looked very uncomfortable and guilty.

"K-nockturn Alley," he said, shifting in his seat. He brought out some tea and rock hard cakes which Harry, Terry and Hermione all ate reluctantly.

"What's that?" asked Hermione.

"My dad mentioned it," Terry said. "It's supposed to be a place for dark wizards." He looked at Hagrid intently. "Are you sure about this though? You might be spotted." This was a surprise from Terry, normally, Terry was very enthusiastic about dragons.

"We'll eh," said Hagrid, running his finger through his hair, "yeh get very good deals there, very good. And erm, I just wanted to erm, give it a go." They sighed and took it for a lost cause. Hagrid happily showed them Norbert, who had grown so much bigger than they last saw him.

What's this, Norbert hissed. Has the oaf brought me food? He looked hopefully at them. Hagrid beamed.

"See, he likes you! Have a little pat!" Harry didn't have the heart to tell Hagrid that the dragon only fancied him as good meal. They chatted for a while, before they left for Christmas dinner. As soon they were out of earshot, Hermione began to speak.

"Can you believe Hagrid?" said Hermione, disbelief etched all across her face.

"Even I know it's dangerous!" replied Terry. "And even I know it won't work, and look at me! I adore dragons!"

"Well," sighed Harry, "no point now. Can't change his mind." Their conversation drifted to other subjects. Terry and Harry began arguing happily about which was the best Quidditch team while Hermione just sighed, 'boys" and just walked along, shaking their head. They returned to the Common Room.

After a big match of Chess, Harry went back towards his dormitory, thinking this was the best Christmas he had ever had. It was good to just have a sense of oblivion, to not worry about dragons, Voldemort and the Philosopher's Stone. He climbed into his four poster bed and promptly fell asleep.

Students returned after the Christmas break. Everything was normal with Harry, well, as normal as he would ever get, and he was starting to get perturbed. Why wasn't Voldemort acting? Was his dream really real? Maybe he was just paranoid, but he felt like Quirrell was staring at him when he thought he wasn't looking. Harry still felt he was missing something. Why didn't Quirrell just steal the Philosopher's Stone, run and flee? Maybe it was the protections... maybe. Yet Harry didn't think so. He still thought he was missing. The Hungarian Horntail had finally hatched and it wasn't hard to handle. It was almost impossible to handle. When it had hatched, the first thing it did was to snap on Hagrid's massive giant finger. Although Hagrid said that he could handle it, Harry often saw him noticeably wincing sometimes. They often visited Hagrid, checking to see how big the dragon was. When one time they knocked on the door, the Hungarian Horntai had let out a stomp, which Harry was sure shook the little hut. Harry, Terry and Hermione had persuaded Hagrid to lose it, but Hagrid stood his ground. He countered all their arguments, and eventually, they were forced to concede.

"He won't be heard," Hagrid had said. "I've er, put some charms that were stop that, yeh see. And Norberta is settling along comfortably. 'Norberta' according to Hagrid, that was her name. Harry was very sure it was a boy, but insisted it was a girl. It was a very funny sort of coincidence. Harry was sure Norbert was a girl, while Norberta was a boy. Hagrid thought the complete opposite. Speaking of the two dragons, Hagrid had thought it was nice to 'introduce' them for a while. They left outside Hagrid's hut with Hagrid to give themselves some time to play. In reality, after a while thrashing could be heard and they entered the hut. They had evidently not gone on together. Norbert and Norberto were tugging at a corner of the round table. Harry could hear splinters cracking. Fang was beneath them, whining. He jumped up, only to be stopped by Norbert's leg which stomped him down again. The table split into two and they dropped it and rushed at each other, growling. It was good they couldn't breathe fire yet. Hagrid might be a bit ignorant, but he wasn't that ignorant to fasten leashes around the dragons fire mouth. Hagrid had immediately jumped betweeen the dragons, only to be snarled away.

"Norberta and Norbert," said Harry once they walked back, sporting bruises. "Only Hagrid would be doing that.

They had made a sort of routine to frequently side track to the third floor corridor. They were still thinking about the Philosopher's Stone. They were sure that Voldemort were after it, but nothing happened. Quirrell was acting like his usual selves and everything seemed like what it should be. Yet it did not seem real.

One afternoon found Harry walking all alone on the third door corridor. Terry and Hermione were busy helping Hagrid and Harry volunteered to check on the corridor. Harry was starting to get curious what Fluffy protections were. He had only looked it up in a library book, but didn't get a very good background. It was rather vague. Harry knew that he might be walking into harm's way, but he couldn't help himself. He tried the handle. It didn't open. Harry took out his wand, looked around and pointed at the door.

"Alohomara!" The door clicked open and Harry found himself face to face with Fluffy. But Fluffy was anything but Fluffy. It had three growling shaggy back heads, with an ginormous body. He slammed the door shut just as-

"I see that inflated head of yours had made yourself above school rules." Harry whirled around. Snape was looking at him, a triumphant gleam in his eyes.

"Thought yourselves high and mighty?" said Snape. "Thought you would go meddling around in businesses in which you have no right? You might think you're all so great, but to me Potter, to me, you're a nasty little brat. Detention. Next Sunday, 11 o'clock." Harry was horrified! That was the day of his Quidditch match against Hufflepuff! Snape noticed his horrified and shocked expression. He curled his lip unpleasantly.

"Dear dear, a how unfortunate event," Snape said sneering. Harry opened his mouth and burst.

"That's not fair! You did that on purpose!" Harry said hotly. Snape looked very amused.

"That will be 20 points for contradicting and correcting a teacher Potter, and another 20 if you don't be silent. Now, I would advise you to watch your step from now on or you just might find yourselves at a very sticky end." And with that final word, Snape strolled back down the corridor, out of sight, his black cloak billowing behind him. Harry stared after him, mutely.

The reaction of Terry and Hermione were exactly what Harry had expected. Shock, disbelief and anger, all at Snape. Terry went about saying he what he would love to do to Snape if he could to have Hermione admonish him, saying'Terry!' Hermione was also very angry. Once she had calmed down somewhat she began to look rather thoughtful.

"But what did Snape mean by watching your steps and a sticky end?" She said. "Could it be just an empty brain, or..." Terry disregarded this.

"Nah, wouldn't have the guts too, that slimy git." Hermione looked still looked thoughtful.

"What? You think Snape's after the stone or is involved?"

"Well, it is a possibility," said Hermione uncertainly. "Should we keep an eye on him or anything? Maybe.. maybe he's working with Quirrell!"

"Of course not!" said Terry, snorting. "Can you imagine Snape putting up with Quirrell's stuttering?"

Harry dreaded meeting his fellow Quidditch team mates that night at their practice. Harry dreaded Davis's reaction. Sure enough...

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU CAN'T PLAY POTTER!" roared Davis.

"I told you," said Harry miserably, "Snape told me I had detention with him." Sympathetic looks were cast by the other teammates.

"Well you better try and change Snape's mind." said Davis, calming down a bit.

"You know I can't," Harry said sighing, "just get a reserve."

"I'll get Cho Chang to play then," said Davis, "team, this practice is cancelled. Potter, a word please." Feeling extremely miserable for himself, Harry tagged behind.

"Listen Potter," said Davis, "You're a really great player and I would hate to lose you. Try and convince Snape to change his mind. Anything! Well, I'll see you around Potter." And Davis walked out of the room.

The days following up to the match went up like a blur. Harry watched the team practice, and he was almost glad to not be playing at the sight of the drills the captain was putting himself on. Harry hadn't gone to Snape yet: he knew it was pointless. So, Cho Chang would be officially playing as seeker for that match. Cho Chang was a fair flier in Harry's opinion, but Harry still think he played better.

On the day of the Quidditch match, Harry with the rest of the school trudged up to the Quidditch stadium to spectate. They found very good seats and sat down. Lee Jordan, was the commentator with a very strict looking Professor McGonagall behind him eyeing him very beadily.

"And today's surprise is that Potter for the Ravenclaw team is unavailable to play, in Potter's place is Cho Chang, who will be against the Hufflepuff's seeker, Cedric Diggory!" roared Lee through a magical megaphone. "A rumour and been spread recently that Chang and Diggory have a romantic interest recently. Many will wonder whe-" Lee never finished his sentence as Professor McGonagall yanked it out.

"Jordan, are you being paid to speak about romantic interests?"

"Er, sorry Professor, and now I introducing the players." Lee Jordan announced all the players. Madam Hooch walked onto the field with the players to tremendous applause and booing from the crowd. The captains shook hands, the players mounted their brooms, and the game had started.

Ravenclaw had scored 30 points already and they were in very high spirits. Harry suddenly spotted Hagrid walking out of the stands.

"Hello Hagrid!" Harry yelled. Hagrid turned round.

"Oh hello Harry!" he yelled back. "Just going to check on-, I mean." Harry looked around quickly. Malfoy was very close to them. His head snapped up suddenly and he muttered something, and began to move down the stands. Hagrid started walking back. Harry waved to get his attention, but Hagrid only thought he was waving and waved back. He walked out of sight. Harry slumped back into his seat. No one else noticed Harry. Would Malfoy follow Hagrid? He pushed the thoughts away and looked back at the Quidditch pitch.

"And Davis is rushing towards the goalposts, he takes aim and No! Slytherins intercept and heading for goalpost." Harry looked at his watch. His detention was about to start. He muttered 'see you later' and walked back up towards the castle. Harry wondered whether to see Hagrid really quickly but he wasn't in his hut. Harry went into the Castle, down the dungeons and into Snape's office. There Snape sat.

"You're just on time Potter," said Snape. "I was beginning to wondering if that short memory of yours had forgotten." Harry ignored the snarky comment and sat in a seat Snape had given him. Harry was supposed to be dissecting Frogs. Snape had done this on purpose. Harry resigned himself to sorting out the different parts. Snape watched over him, marking papers, while making rude comments. Harry finally finished.

"Well, I see you have finally finished." said Snape coldly. "Abysmal, as usual." Harry didn't comment.

"Well, get out then!" Harry said 'right' and hurried out. He met Terry and Hermione at the entrance hall. The match had ended.

"Harry! Ravenclaw won! 210 to 60!" said Terry.

"Listen," said Harry said quickly, heading down towards the hut. "Malfoy followed Hagrid, he might have seen the dragon." They went down the steps, towards the grounds. They reached Hagrid's hut. Hermione knocked, and a tired voice said Who's there? Harry answered and Harris opened the door. He was a complete mess. He was clutching his head as if it was bleeding as was staggering.

"Hagrid, what happened?" said Hermione, aghast.

Not the best way to end a chapter, but I just wanted to end it.
