Exodus12345: Harry will not be paired with Yelena.

Kasikan: Harry in this story will kill if he feels there's a real need to, for example he's not going to kill a petty thug but he will kill a villian if it saves the whole city.

AvidReader2425: I think the idea sounds good until you remember how large a city is. I don't know, I'd have to think about it.

Sphere Word: Yes.

Chapter 46 -

"So, do you trust her?" Selena asked Harry at breakfast the next day. She and Harry were joined by Alfred and the rest of the Wayne family.

"No," Harry said honestly, "or at least not completely. I didn't detect any deceit from her, but at the moment I am not going to risk doing more than letting her help this one time, I'm going to give her a chance to earn at least part of my trust."

"Do be careful," Martha said in a worried voice. "I can only imagine what he has planned."

"I'm imagining what I'm going to do when I catch the little asshole." Harry replied before finishing up his breakfast. "Right, I'll be off now. I've got a meeting with Miss Haywood."

"Oh, should I be jealous?" Selina asked, raising an eyebrow.

"It'd be nice if you at least acted like it once," Harry said with a roll of his eyes. "alright, Bill should be waiting outside so I'm off, see ya guys." Harry said before he turned and walked away.

"You two are so adorable together." Martha said, smiling at Selina.

"Here it comes." Thomas said under his breath in a knowing voice.

"You know, it's never too late to start thinking about marriage." Martha continued "I...

"I will take that into consideration," Selina quickly said before standing. "now, if you'll excuse me I have some very important business I need to take care of." She said before she all but ran out of the room like the hounds of hell were nipping at her feet.

"What was that about?" Martha frowned.

"Hmm, must be a number two." Thomas said absently as he began reading his newspaper.

"So smart, but...so stupid and crazy." Yelena said as she examined the riddle box which was now in its disk shape. It felt more than a bit odd to examine a destructive device made by her ex-boyfriend in her own apartment while the Batman stood just behind her.

"What is it?" Batman asked impatiently.

"Well," Yelena paused and rubbed her forehead. "as far as anyone is concerned this is a simple disc that if used will simply play music, but that's not at all what it does. While we were dating, Edward had worked on a guidance system that worked based off of a guidance signal which would then guide a radio-wave guided device. If you had actually played it then it would have brought something to you, I don't know what he would have sent to you but at best he'd find out your location and at worse he would have killed you."

"Hmm." Batman slowly took a step forward and stared at the device. "What can you do with it?" He asked.

"I can disable it." Yelena replied before a thoughtful look came onto her face.

"What else?" Batman asked.

"I can..." Yelena hesitated before finally speaking. "...I can track him through the signal, I helped make it after all. Or I can stick with the first plan and temporarily block the signal and then disable it. Though, if I do track him through it then I'll need to activate the signal long enough for me to track it." She said, before giving him a questioning look. "Should I?" She asked. Batman stayed silent, he didn't move or even shift a single inch of his body for several painstakingly long moments.

"Not yet." Batman eventually replied. "See what else you can find."

"Okay," Yelena nodded. "if I may ask you a question, what do you plan to do to Eddie if you find him?" She asked.

"When I find him, I'm going to either break something inside of him or knock something out of him." Batman replied, sounding dead serious.

"Oh." Yelena blinked, before she coughed. "Um...must you?" She asked. Batman paused for a moment before he responded.

"No." He said honestly.

"But...you are still going to do it?" She guessed.

"Yes." He answered with no hesitation.

"Fair enough," Yelena said with a deep sigh as she continued to examine the riddle box-disk. "wait a minute," She said as she looked at the disk, she looked to be deep in thought. "there must be a message hidden in here." She said suddenly, sounding like she couldn't believe she hadn't already realised it.

"A message?" Batman asked.

"A message or a riddle," Yelena nodded. "Edward loved them, not a day went by without him asking a riddle. I think he must have hidden some sort of message in here."

"Likely within the signal that the disk will make." Batman replied.

"Exactly, so it appears I will have to temporarily block the signal after all."

"Master Harold," Alfred's voice echoed through Batman's communication device. "I'm sorry to disturb you but there is a bank robbery happening two blocks away from you."

"I have to go now," Batman told Yelena. "get to work on the disk, I'll be back tomorrow." He said before he shifted into a bat and flew out of the window.

"I...did he just turn into a bat?" Yelena blinked.

"Well, that won't be a problem. Of course, yes, thank you. Goodbye." Harry said as he hanged up his phone before leaning back in his seat in the car.

"Is everything alright, sir?" Bill asked, he was currently driving since Alfred wasn't here due to having other duties to perform.

"Yeah, why do you ask?" Harry replied.

"Honestly?" Bill shrugged. "I'm just trying to take my mind off the bitch driving in front, I seriously don't think she knows how to use her breaks and it's pissing me off."

"Yeah," Harry sighed and looked past him at the car that kept breaking every couple of seconds. "they'll give anyone a license these days."

"True, and I..." Whatever Bill was about to say was interrupted by the sound of Harry's phone vibrating.

"Sorry Bill," Harry apologized. "just let me check this then I'll go back to helping stop you from entering a murder rage."

"Please do." Bill said appreciatively. Harry nodded before checking his phone, he saw that he had a message from Selina.

Harry, Nygma is on the news.

"Excuse me a sec, apparently something important is on the news." Harry said before he switched his phone into a horizontal position.

"Don't bring up the news with me, you were supposed to be keeping me from a murder rage, not send me into a coma." Bill said jokingly.

"Forgive me." Harry chuckled before pulling out some headphones, after connecting them to his phone he put them in and began watching the news.

"Batman," The Riddler chuckled as he was shown live on the news. "where are you? It seems to me like you've not been able to solve my riddle yet, what...do you need a hint? Is it too hard for you? Or do you perhaps lack the proper motivation? Allow me to provide one for you, I've brought two hostages to my current location, a location that you would be able to discover if you have solved the disc. Now, they're the rich, powerful and greedy type, I know you like that. By midnight tonight you will meet me there or they will die. Properly motivated yet?" Riddler smirked before the news channel changed back to showing a couple of shocked reporters.

Harry sat back in his seat and removed his headphones.

"You fine, sir?" Bill asked.

"Yeah...just fine." Harry smiled. 'I've got to go and see Yelena as soon as possible'. He thought to himself.

"Ha, Harry is going to break his bones." He said after watching the news. He was currently sat on the floor, cutting out a picture from a newspaper. The picture being the most recent newspaper picture he could find of Harry, he placed it in his photo album and gave himself a satisfied nod once he had finished. "Hmm," He hummed as he hugged the album to his chest. "I like riddles. I don't know if Harry does though, they might just annoy him." He said to himself thoughtfully.

He was quickly brought out of his thoughts when he heard a knocking on the door, he barely resisted the urge to groan, he recognised who was knocking on his door, she always knocked the same way: two hard knocks followed by two lighter ones. He quickly shoved his photo album under his bed before he got up and rushed over to the door, knowing that she hated being made to wait. He grabbed the door handle and placed his key inside the lock, he shook the key several times and pressed the handle up hard before he was able to open it.

"Um...hi," He said as he opened his door and found his landlady standing outside. "so...pleasant weather we're having, right?" He asked awkwardly.

"I don't give two hoots about the weather," She said with a roll of her eyes. "I'm here to collect rent."

"Rent, right, can't forget rent." He nodded before he went back into his compartment to collect his rent money.

"Yes, I can't, no matter how much some people would like me to." She said in a snide voice.

"Alright, here's your rent with an extra dollar for such wonderful customer service." He said with a small smile as he handed her the money.

"Don't get smart with me, wise guy." She said in a warning voice as she waggled a finger in front of him.

"Sorry," He half-heartedly apologized, he had tried to sound more sincere but was unable to. "anyway, while I've got you here, I was wondering if I could ask you to call someone to fix the door. I..."

"What's wrong with it?" She asked with narrowed eyes.

"It's the lock," He said as he gestured to it. "it takes a lot more effort to open than what should be necessary, I was hoping you would be able to call someone and..."

"The door and the lock were fine before you moved in," She said, giving him an accusing look. "why should I waste my money fixing your problems?" He was very tempted to point out that she should given that it was her job as a landlady to help out the tenants, but managed to refrain from doing so.

"Okay, look, what if I just buy the stuff and fix it myself or just get somebody else to do it?" He asked, at this point he just wanted the woman to get lost.

"If you end up needing another key to open this door then I had better end up getting a copy of it or else..." She trailed off threateningly.

"Would you like the key to my soul while you're at it?" He asked sarcastically, he saw her open her mouth to speak and decided to cut her off before she could. "I'll give you the key, I promise."

"Hmm." She sniffed but didn't say anything.

"Look, do you have a problem with me or something?" He asked in an annoyed tone.

"Yes, I do," She said with brutal honesty. "if you didn't keep bringing in money then I would never let a freak like you stay in my building."

"I'm...I'm not a freak." He said quietly, his lips trembling slightly as he tightened his jaw.

"Oh yeah? Who was the one making noise when he sleeps and waking up his neighbours?"

"That was one time." He pointed out, glaring at her.

"One time too many, you're not a normal man and we both know it." She glared before walking away. "I've got my eye on you, one foot out of line and you're gone." She called back before leaving.

"Are...are you alright?" A voice asked, he turned to his left and blinked when he saw a pretty woman standing in front of him. He took a moment but he eventually recognised her as the dark skinned woman who had given him some money when he had been playing.

"Um...yeah, yeah." He nodded after regaining the ability to speak.

"That was harsh," She said, gesturing to where the landlady had left. "she shouldn't treat you like that."

"Everyone treats me like that," He said dismissively.

"Doesn't make it right." She shrugged.

"I...I remember you, you gave me money when I was playing."

"Yeah, I just moved in here two days ago. You were really good." She smiled.

"Thanks," He smiled back. "um...if...if you want then maybe I could play for you sometime." He offered.

"That'd be nice," She said, her smile growing slightly wider. "I...well, I'm going out to see a movie later tonight and I was wondering if you'd like to come with me."

"Like on a date?" He asked, trying to keep his voice casual.

"If you want, it'd be my treat. So, what do you say?" She asked.

"I...yeah, I'd love to." He nodded quickly.

"Great, I'll meet you here in three hours?" She asked.

"Yeah, three hours, got it." He said, nodding quick enough to nearly cause neck damage.

She giggled before walking away. He grinned and went back into his apartment, he quickly shut the door and rushed to his bed, he reached under and grabbed the album before he plopped down on top of the bed. He opened the album and looked at the first photo of Harry he could find.

"Harry!" He said excitedly. "I've got a date! I've got a date! What...what if it goes great?! I might get a girl like Selina or...or like 'Nightlight'." He said, his eyes becoming slightly teary as memories flooded his brain. "Hmm," He hummed as he wiped his eyes. "I've got three hours to get ready." He said suddenly before looking at Harry's photo. "That's three hours for you to talk me through what I'm supposed to do. Come on! Don't look at me like that, I need you!"

"I've found Edward's location." Yelena told Batman. "If I am right, and I'm pretty sure that I am, then he should be hiding in the docks."

"Time to pay him a visit then." Batman said before he began thinking on what he had to do. He had to deal with the Riddler while also saving the hostages and stopping whatever trap Riddler had planned. He smiled under his mask as he came up with a plan.
