Chapter 30: One Last Time

You know, Christmas wouldn't be complete without chihuahuas.

Okay, let me explain myself first. So, Rosalie and I finally get together after a harrowing fuck ton of time dancing around each other and the issue of our marriage. This of course, after we save the holidays and prevent her from going supernova. So, you would think that with the world saved and my job as a goddess of nothing done, I could actually relax for Christmas break and do nothing.

Well, I've figured out that that's not how my life works. And so here I am, going head to head with a family of chihuahuas. It's occurred to me that when I told Jake and his pack a bunch of lies about the Cullens being vampires, they actually took it seriously. And I'd forgotten all about it.

I mean, could you blame me for doing so? I kinda had a lot on my plate given that I basically became a goddess! But, that's why I'm here now, standing on the stoop while a pack of chihuahuas bark and growl at us.

"I can't believe this," I groan out, slapping a hand to my face.

"Well, isn't this something. Shape shifters?" Carlisle questioned. "I never heard of shape shifters in our town. To which god or goddess do they belong to?"

"No, that's not- I think they're supposed to be werewolves," I mumbled, embarrassed on Jake's behalf. He and his group had found the Cullens house, strode up, demanded a war, and then they'd all turned into these small dogs. Big strong muscly dudes...turned into this.

Fighting them wouldn't even be fair.

"Should we feed them?" Emmett asked.

"Or maybe I could knit them some warm sweaters? It is cold outside right now." Esme offered.

With an aggravated huff, Jake transformed back into his human form. "No, you don't get it. We're here to hurt you. You're vampires, so we want to challenge you and destroy you."

"But it's Christmas," Carlisle pointed out.

"Christmas cannot stop the inevitability of what awaits all of us at the end of our-" Edward began but Emmett threw a snowball at his face to shut him up.

"I say invite them in. We have lots of food and drink and we can't eat all of it," he said.

"Vampires can't eat or drink!" Jake pointed out.

"Um...they may not actually be vampires," I admitted sheepishly. "I was kinda of joking around when I said that."

The Cullens all turned to glare at me angrily. I looked down at my shoes.

"But...but they're clearly not human!" Jake argued.

"Of course we're not human. We're gods and goddesses," Alice clapped her hands. "We have powers and existences beyond your mortal understanding."

"Though, I am curious to know a bit more about your shape shifting abilities," Carlisle said. "As a god of science and medicine, my curiosity needs to be sated. May I bribe you with some snacks while I ask about your ability?"

Jake's stomach grumbled when he caught the scent of the pie baking inside the house. He frowned, debating with his beliefs and his hungry stomach. Eventually, he gave in. Apparently his hunger was stronger than his hatred, and we ended up having chihuahuas for Christmas.

While the pack was suspicious at first, sniffing around, growling at things inside the house, they were quickly subdued by the offering of food. They quickly tore into it.

"This is great food," Jake had to admit.

"I know it is. I made it myself," Esme declared.

"Well, this is not how I imagined spending the holidays with my family would be," Rosalie wrinkled up her nose as Emmett began to play fetch with some of the shape shifters in their dog form.

"But it's much better than how it was going to be," I pointed out, as one of the dogs ran into the wall trying to catch the ball.

"Emmett take the game outside!" Esme screamed at him as he came dangerously close to knocking down a lamp. Carlisle was talking to Jake about his history, and Alice and Edward were watching a Christmas movie on the TV while Jasper made out with Demetri in the back.

"So, what do we do now?" I asked Rosalie.

"Celebrate Christmas-"

"No, not that. I mean, us."

"Us," she furrowed her brow. "We're married. What else could you mean?"

"I know we're married. But I'm a goddess now. I won't ever age, won't ever grow up. I'm stuck like this forever. I had goals of graduating. Of going to college. Of making a life for myself. And now...now I don't have any goals because I won't ever change."

Rosalie took me by the hand and lead me to a side room, where the Christmas tree stood, sparkling brightly. Everyone had added their touch to it. Skulls from Edward, beer cans from Emmett, syringes from Carlise, garlands from Esme, icicles from Rosalie, rainbows from Jasper, and a big shining star from Alice. I hadn't added anything, else the tree would cease to exist.

"I know it's difficult, and I know we didn't address it before," Rosalie said quietly. "But you'll get used to it. To this sense of being able to do everything and yet nothing at the same time. But don't worry about it. You can still go to college, you can still get a job. We can morph our forms to look like something else. So you can even age if you want to. And you're not alone," Rosalie took a deep sigh here, steadying her words. "You have my kooky family, you have the Storm Sisters, the Pack, and even the Three Horsemen to talk to. To support you. And you have me. Your wife."

"Thank you." Her words couldn't fix what was wrong, but they did make me feel better.

She leaned in and pecked me on my cheek. "Let's go enjoy the Holiday's together. And the rest of eternity."

I smiled.

A/N: This is the end of this story. I'll be moving back to more serious Rosella fics and I have a few planned out. I don't know when I'll get another fic out, or which one it'll be, but I hope it'll be soon as Rosella is one of my favorite ships.
