Disclaimer: Nope don't own pokemon. I wish I did because then I'd be a millionaire.
Before I begin this chapter I'm sorry for not uploading a chapter last year. Nowadays I plan on updating this story about once a year. But last year I happened to miss that and didn't upload a chapter here. Because of that I plan on uploading two chapters this year. After that the next chapter will most likely come 21 June 2021 unless for some reason my interest for this story peaks or something. Anyway I have a short time frame to get this on the anniversary.
For the two weeks both me and Hilda engaged in grueling training to prepare to fight the gym again. Hilda didn't hasn't even tried to beat the gym, because she doesn't believe she is ready yet. I on the other hand tried again last week but same result. Charizard again disobeyed me which cost me the match again.
My next strategy doesn't involve using Charizard, but that gets me worried. I'm unsure if Squirtle, Pidgeotto or Butterfree can step up to the task. What if they are just not strong enough?
After the end of todays training lesson we headed back to the pokemon center. While we were walking Hilda looked like she was in deep thought.
"What is it Hilda?" I asked her to know what she was thinking.
"I'm just wondering Ash why you haven't caught any new pokemon?" She asked me. "I mean I know you have 6 of them but most trainers do catch more." She continued.
Now that I think of it why I haven't? I think it's because I don't know what happens once you catch more than 6. Or it can be because I happen to like my current pokemon so much. But it doesn't matter, because my current team doesn't work against Elise.
"How about we go out to catch one for you?" Hilda then suggested. "You could really use a ground type." She continued and then I remembered those reptile pokemon, that were on my journey back when I had to rescue Hilda in that sandstorm route.
"Yeah. I think those reptile pokemon we saw in the storm were kind of cool. And they looked like ground type." I answered to Hilda.
"You mean Sandile? We could go catch one right now." She in turn suggested and after giving it some thought I went for it. While I may not be able to catch all the Kanto pokemon, due to there not being any of them around here. But these Unova pokemon are interesting and I'll gladly show them to my friends in Kanto once I'm able to to contact them.
We did light preparation for this by buying some water and potions in case, catching one is tougher than expected. Then again there should be plenty of them, in route 4. After all of the sandiles I bumbed into when I went to pick up Hilda there.
And just like I guessed it didn't take very long to find one at the side of the road.
Picking up a pokeball from my pokebelt, I chose Butterfree to go against this lone sandile. "Alright Butterfree let's catch this pokemon." I told him who nodded at me in return.
"Start by weakening it with attacks." Hilda told me, like it was my first time catching a pokemon.
"Yeah yeah." I said to her with little annoyance. Probably due to always losing to Elise. I especially now don't want my abilities as a trainer being doubted.
"Alright butterfree let's start with gust. But not too strong so it can't get away." I ordered and Butterfree did just that. The Sandile didn't seem too hurt by the move yet, but just a little more I can catch it.
This alerted the Sandile who responded with a sand tomb attack. Problem with that move was off course Butterfree was a flying type pokemon. That didn't mean it couldn't hurt us humans.
"Alright Butterfree. This Sandile is starting to get angry so let's finish this quickly. Use gust again."
The Sandile looked more hurt. Nowhere near fainted levels yet. But looked more than enough to be ready to be caught.
Taking a pokeball from my pokebelt I was prepared to add the 7th pokemon to my team. "Alright Sandile time for you to become part of team Ash! Pokeball go!" I cried and threw the red and white ball at the pokemon.

And it came out of the ball. I almost cursed under my breath, but remembered manners mom taught me. Looks like I have to do a bit more to this Sandile.
Sandile used Assurance on Butterfree who in turn looked a bit hurt from the attack, though nowhere near how hurt the Sandile looks now.
I didn't want to hurt Sandile too much, so I in turn went with either paralysis or sleep.
In the end I decided to go for sleep. "Alright Butterfree let's catch this Sandile. Use sleep powder on it!" I said and that's exactly what the butterfly pokemon ended up doing but he unfortunately missed the attack.
Sandile responded by sending more punishment to Butterfree with an another assurance attack. I really need to land a sleep powder before Butterfree faints.
"Alright Butterfree an another sleep powder!" I order him. The Sandile tries to dig a hole for himself to hide from the sleep powder, but it's too late for him. The sleep spores hit him and he goes from being fully awake to being drowsy and eventually falls a sleep.
I take the same pokeball and throw it at the Sandile, hoping that this time I manage to catch it.

And click. It's done. YES! I caught my first pokemon in Unova! I rejoice at my recent capture and hold up the ball at the Sky. Celebrating the success as Hilda joins me, to celebrate this as well.
After that we go back to the Nimbasa pokemon center to heal Sandile and Butterfree. I couldn't wait to see what kind of persona Sandile would turn out. Before I would even exit the pokemon center, I clicked the center of Sandiles pokeball to release him.
And nothing
No matter what I did Sandle would not come out of it's ball. I tried clicking as fast as I could but it still wouldn't go out of it's ball.
"Ahh you know you can only have 6 Pokemon right?" Hilda told me and while she didn't mean to, she embarrased me quite much. I felt like I had no credibility for not knowing that fact.
I sighed at this knowledge. Well looks like I won't be able to enjoy any Unova pokemon after all. Still I wanted to see if I could do anything. "Is there anything I can do about it?" I asked Hilda.
"Well you can store one of your current pokemon somewhere to give a Sandile a spot on your team." She said.
This caused me to head straight for the videophones. Oak mentioned to me, that I could store my pokemon on his lab, once I couldn't carry them on my own. I should have remembered that in the first place.
So I dialed his number and... nothing. Like every time I had ever tried to call him, I couldn't get a hold of him.
I let out a defeated sigh. Looks like there is nothing I can do. I went to the counter at the Pokemon desk and decided to see if Joy could do anything about it.
"Can I give this Sandile away." I asked her with a defeated voice.
Nurse looked at me confused and little sad. "Why would you give it away?" She asked me concerned.
"I can only have 6 pokemon and I don't have anywhere to store him." I explained but before Joy could help me any further Hilda stepped in.
"Ash if you don't have anywhere to store him, why don't you store it on my PC? No need to abandon it." She proposed. "Or if you want to use the Sandile, I can use one of your pokemon, while you use the Sandile." She continued.
I was glad that I didn't have to abandon it. But that still meant if I wanted to use it, I would need to stop using one of my current pokemon. It wasn't something that was easy to do just like that. I had grown onto them so much during the journey, I just couldn't see letting any of them go.
"I'll think about your offer. Just give me some time." I said and at the same time, handed her Sandiles pokeball. "It's yours right now. But if I want to use it, I'll trade one of my current pokemon for it." I said and even saying those words was hard to me.
Hilda gave me an understanding nod. She then went and put the Sandile in her pc.
The rest of the day I couldn't do much. Just thinking about the Sandile situation kept me from doing anything. That night I had hard time to sleep due to it. I couldn't decide what I wanted to do? Did I want use Sandile and give up one of my team members or keep my old team and leave the Sandile in the pc. And besides so far my experience with trades hasn't been great. I mean the whole reason I'm here is due to that.
Finally in the morning I had reached the conclusion to this hard decision. Once I had done all the morning preparations I confronted Hilda.
"I have thought about it and I want you to take care of Butterfree." I said trying to hold my voice as brave as possible. Letting Hilda have him is hard on me, like I'm almost losing a part of myself.
"Are you sure?" She asked to which I nodded in return. I wanted to get this over quickly before I'm gonna have second thoughts. "Okay. I'm gonna go to my pc and get Sandile from there." She answered and went to do that.
Little later she was back with Sandiles pokeball and motioned me to the trading machine.
Giving Butterfree's pokeball a one last look, I put it in the machine, while Hilda put the Sandile's ball on her end. Then the trade began and I was anxious as I feared something would happen. Or maybe it was because of this reminding my last trade.
Luckily the trade finished soon and I took the ball.
"Sandile welcome to the team." I said as I silently said goodbye to Butterfree.
Alright this chapter is finished now. Now I'm gonna post an another one next week for the anniversary. These chapters are much smaller than my Winx Club stories chapters so it should be more than possible. I'm sorry for not uploading last year. That is why again I post 2 chapters this year. And yeah these days this story is more of a once a year update. I like my Bakugan and Winx Club stories more so this has kind of taken a back seat. Anyway I got so many comments on how Ash should get an Unova pokemon. Now originally I went against it and thought I would use Ash's Kanto team for the whole story. But then I decided I did want to add 1 or 2 Unova pokemon. I like Sandile and it's evolution and Ash had one in his Unova seasons, so I thought it was a perfect addition. Besides it makes sense, since it's gonna help Ash with the gym Battle. That's all and yeah the gym battle is gonna be the next chapter.
Viva out
