Chapter 1.A King's Golden Touch
"When I grow up I am going to be a hero just like All Might, saving people with a smile."
"Sorry kid thats not gonna happen," Dr.Tsubasa tells this to my Mother and I. Because of my extra toe joint I won't have a quirk, but I refused to believe it.
Day by day after the doctors visit I would constantly try to attract things to myself and try to breathe fire, but at the end it yield no results.
Tears rolled down my face as I continue to watch the same video of Allmight over and over again, when my mother entered the room I asked the one question with tears from my eyes, "Mom can I still be a hero like Allmight?"
Only for my mother to hold me and continue to say that she is sorry, I felt bad I know it wasn't her fault but at the same time I wished she would have said something else to me.
Later that year
phone ringing*
"Hey, Inko I am coming home soon for the Holidays The company finally were able to get someone to fill in my spot this year so I will be able to stay for both Christmas and New Years, tell Izuku Papa is bringing home something special !!"
"That's Great news Hisashi, It's been quite awhile since we gathered as a whole family again hopefully this will better Izuku's mood..." Inko trails off as she remembers how sad Izuku were and still is about him not having a quirk.
Hisashi hearing the situation sighs and says to her "He still pretty bummed out about not having a quirk right, well tell him this that no matter what happens he is still our son and we'll always be there for him, also I think I have the right thing to cheer lil Izu up," Hisashi begins to smile at the image of his Son being happy once again.
As December arrives in Musutafa, so does Hisashi as he finally set foot back in Japan after 3 years away in the US working for his family. It wasn't easy being away although they call and Video chat either weekly of monthly it still wasn't the same. Hisashi then quickly ran up to his apartment and begins to hug both his wife and son, who were glad he arrived home after so long.
Hisashi and Izuku looks exactly alike except that Hisashi had a more sharper eye compared to his Son who has his mother's round eye.
Izuku although was still upset about his quirkless status he was still excited that his papa returned home and with many presents for him and mom. Hisashi seeing his son excitement over the gift quickly hands a specific one to him, in the bags he brought in there were different Hero merchandise he had picked up from the states, but those can wait for now this particular present was important to hand to his son first.
"Izuku I know you like heroes a lot so I got you these gifts, but the others can wait as it's not Christmas yet, this one however is special and I want you to open it up first how about it?"
Izuku although was slightly disappointed that the other present would have to wait he was still excited about the gift that his papa is allowing him to open first. So he quickly agrees and asked if he could open it and so he did.
As he unwraps the present he saw a book titled "The Epic of Gilgamesh," Izuku had a look of confusion as he knew of many different heroes even their abilities as he has started to take notes on them but who is this Gilgamesh and what's so Epic about him?
As he begins to ponder and mutter away his father quickly laughs at his son confusion and thought process, after having his laugh Hisashi place his hand on Izuku's shoulder crouching down so he could speak to him.
"Izuku, I know that not having a quirk makes it seem like the world has ended for you, but let me assure it's not as the m reason why I got you this book is for you to learn from history and into the past of the time before heroes of today came to be..."
"How those brave man and women of the past before quirks were regarded as great heroes, and I thought what better ways of Introducing you to them, by reading and learning about them!!"
Izuku was beginning to understand a bit, but was still rather confused of where his papa was heading, when Hisashi continue on
"So I started with this one, you'll start by learning where it all possibly begin by a man known as the King of Heroes, and also the first hero of Humanity Gilgamesh, Izuku you maybe wondering why I am telling you all of this well to put it simply I believe you can be a Hero even without a quirk the road will be tough but I believe you can achieve this!"
Those last few words hit Izuku hard those were the words he trulywanted to hear, and tear once more begins to surface in his eyes but this time accompanied with a grand smile. Inko who was standing besides them the whole time begins to worry about Izuku still wanting to be a hero and the dangers he may face. But the words that her Husband has said along with Izuku's current happiness she hasn't seen a while made her forget for the time being as she joins them smiling away.
Christmas soon came, and Izuku has spent days reading about Gilgamesh and he was really intrigued about this old king of heroes, Hisashi smiles at his son focus and tells Izuku it time for presents. Only for Izuku to say those can wait he is trying to finish Gilgamesh's story, which surprised Hisashi as his 4 year old son is still reading such level book with such passion. But he was proud and happy that his son's dream is coming back together, and was able to convince his wife that Izuku will be fine in life even if he does continue to pursue being a hero.
As Izuku finishes the epic that Christmas night he begins to drift off to his dreams, what he saw next surprised him he was in a throne room watching a few figures fighting against each other while a man sits upon his throne. The fight was truly exciting for Izuku and when it ended and the group departed Izuku wondered when he'll wake up only for the man on the throne to call him out of the hiding spot behind the pillar.
"You behind the pillar how did you get in here?"
Izuku begins to stutter, "umm... I ..I don't know I was just sleeping in my bed after finally finish reading up on the Eipic of Gilgamesh when I woke up here,... sorry sir I didn't mean to break in..I don't know.." as Izuku begins to tear up afraid that he was in trouble the man quickly raised his palm to quiet him down.
"Child do not cry over such things, I was simply asking a question that is all, although the circumstances is strange but what is your name young one?"
Izuku wipes his eyes and says "oh my name is Izuku sir... Izuku Midoryia sir," the man closes a stone tablet and nods at the boy's answer when he then ask a odd question, "you said you were reading about the Epic of Gilgamesh and you just finished what do you feel about this Gilgamesh and his deeds?" Izuku was a bit surprised the man never answered back with his name but another question but nonetheless he still answers.
"I don't really know, while some parts he seemed harsh and a bit arrogant and quite a few parts loud? I suppose , I still feel that he is a great person, he didn't achieve his goals but still went back to work for his people of Uruk, so I thinks he a good king and hero who looks out for his people and a man who accomplished many feat...um sorry I still had some hard times reading some areas sir."
The man stood there a gauntlet hand under his chin in a thoughtful pose but then chuckles and asked some more questions to Izuku
"It's fine, Izuku was it well then tell me why a young boy probably no older then 6-8 is reading the tales of Gilgamesh rather then listening to it from teaches or perhaps your parents? Hmm"
Izuku looked down and thinks that he'll probably be laugh at and answers, "it's because I want to be a hero when I get older... even though I don't have a quirk..."
The man ponders about the kids word and thinks to himself " a hero? So he wants to leave his names and mark upon history then, no from what it seems that wouldn't be correct, and quirks?"
Izuku heard no sound of laughs so he continued, "...almost everyone has a quirk to call their own, my best friend Kacchan has a quirk that makes explosion from his palm, the idol I looked up to Allmight has a quirk that allows him to do things with crazy strength... everyone has something like that but...I don't have a quirk..I still want to become a hero though." Izuku continues to look down this time tears threatening to drop out of his eyes and onto the stone floors.
The man stood there in front of Izuku not moving then ask him another question, "what does it mean to be a hero for you, and why do you wish to be one is it for fame, glory, or for the potential wealth that may come with the title," the man finished the question and awaits for the boys answer.
"Someone who can save everyone and are able to reassure them their safe with a smile on my face while doing so," Izuku answers without hesitation and then continue, "but now I want to do more then just that I want to help those who are like me whose dreams seems impossible encourage them that they can do it."
Izuku finishes off his answer with a smile and looks up at the man in front of him with his eyes still wet from his tears.
"Then tell me Izuku even without a quirk you still wish to be a hero then why do you read the epic then, you never truly answer me on that part."
"Oh it because I was told to look at the past, before the eras of quirks and learn how these great individuals of the past came to be regarded as heroes that inspired today, my father got this epic for me to start with," Izuku answered honestly.
"But in this epic it tells of feats and tales that even those with quirks may not even achieve what do you even get to take away from it the. Wouldn't this just show you the fantasy and how even more impossible your dream is," the man continues to question on.
"Yes, but there more to it then just power no matter if it's from the gods, magic, or even in quirks. They have charisma, intelligence, skills, and ingenuity that I can learn from, I may never be able to fight others with super powerful quirks but I can always think of ways to help others, save others, assist others in subduing dangers by learning,"
Izuku takes a deep breath, "I wouldn't know if I never try at the end."
"Hmm is that so then, Child you have me intrigued to say the least let's just say I hope you don't disappoint me the next time we meet," the man says which makes Izuku question what does he mean by next time then he notice he was fading away.
Izuku before he completely fade away called out to the man who seems to have taken interest of his goal for his name only for a smirk appear on the mans face.
"Really, after all this time we spoke I imagine you would have gotten it by now, child I stand upon you as the king of heroes, humanity first hero, and the King of Uruk, but you may know me as Gilgamesh," and with that Gilgamesh patted Izuku on the head and he was gone.
Izuku woken up the next day feeling energized for some reason and on both of his hand odd symbols have placed itself on his hand.
