Callie POV
It's been a month since Aria left, and now it's two days before we leave to Boston. Aiden and I are packing our bags. "Mami, I'm so excited. I can't believe we're gonna go see Barbara and Daniel.
"I know Mijo, they're excited to see you too."
"Before Zona left for work, I FaceTimed Barbra and she showed me all the baby chicks."
As I packed our bags and listened to my son talk about how excited he is, I can't help but feel so much joy. That the women I fell in love with, family not only excepts that I have a son, they love him. Aiden and Barbara talk to each other at least twice a week. He talks to her more than he talks to my mom.
"Hey Aiden I think we're done packing your things. Why don't you brush your teeth and I'll come tuck you in."
"Okay mom."
I stand up and I roll his suitcase to the living room, and I hear a knock on the door, and I know it's Mark. A few weeks ago Arizona and I were about to do the deed and Mark came bursting in. Good thing he busted in at that time, because if he came in a second later he would've seen Arizona's, big Arizona. Ever since then he knocks. Which I'm grateful for.
"Come in."
He walks in and sits at the breakfast bar, "You finish packing?"
"No, not yet. I just finished Aiden's and Now I'm gonna do mines after I put him to bed. How about you?"
"I'm done. I'm gonna head over to reds and see if she needs help. Just checking on you and squirt."
I cross my arms and notice how Mark tries to play it off, like it's no big deal about going to Addison's. Ever since Aiden let it slip that they kinda like each other, I've been keeping a good eye on the both of them. Honesty I couldn't be happier if they ever did end up together. Raising my eyebrow "Oh if she needs help?" I teased.
"Yeah, so tomorrow Zona got that huge surgery right?"
"Yeah, I can't believe she decided to do it right before we leave."
"Well I'm sure she wants Lilly to finally have a trachea."
"I know, poor child. I can't imagine, but I know it's gonna be amazing. No more tumors and she'll have a normal life."
"Exactly. Well I'm gonna head over to Reds. I'll see you later Cal."
"Sounds good."
Right as I close the door, I hear my phone ringing and it's Arizona ringtone.
"Hey babe."
"Hi love. How's work?"
"It's good, Karev and I removed her trachea from her abdomen, and it's in the incubator ready to go for tomorrow. So now I'm just going over Lily's plans."
"That's good, how you feeling Dr. Robbins?" I teased.
"A lot better, now that I'm talking to you."
"So, I'm guessing there's a reason why you're calling me?"
"Can't get anything pass you. Anyways, can you go to my loft tomorrow and pack my clothes and bring it to your place. I don't think I'm gonna have time to pack."
"Are you sure? I don't want to hear you complaining that I didn't pack you the right clothes."
"I don't care what you pack, it's just clothes. Plus I still have clothes back home if you forget anything. So it doesn't matter."
"Okay, I'll stop by and pack your things, but I don't have a key to your loft."
"You do, I put one on your keychain."
"When?"
"Last night, when you were sleeping."
"I don't remember."
"Of course you don't. You were pretty exhausted after I did that thing you love."
"Dr. Robbins behave yourself." I purred reliving everything in my head we did last night.
"I bet you're wet right now." Arizona said huskily.
Just then Aiden comes into the living room. "Mami, I'm ready for bed."
I smile and nod my head. "Well, I have to go babe, I have to put Aiden to bed. Then I'm gonna start packing my things."
"Okay, thank you again for packing my things. I appreciate it. Love you."
"Love you too."
"Mami can I talk to Zona before I got to bed?"
"Sure Mijo make it quick though. Zona is working and you need to go to bed." I say as I pass him the phone.
"Hey Zona."
"Hey buddy, how are you?"
"I'm good. I miss you Zona."
"I miss you too Aiden, but you know what will help?"
"What?"
"The sooner you sleep the faster you get to see me. I'll stop by tomorrow before surgery."
"Okay Zona. You promise?"
"I promise bud."
"Okay, good. Hey Zona?"
"Yes?"
"Did you put the picture of me on your desk yet?"
"I sure did. And I have a picture of you and Mami. But Aiden I think it's time for bed. I'll see you tomorrow okay?"
"Okay Zona. I love you."
"Love you too."
After Aiden hung up with Arizona, I tucked him into bed and watched him sleep. Over the past months he's really taken to Arizona. I know they love each other, but I can tell they have a very special bond, an unbreakable bond. I walked into my room and grab my suitcase and begin to pack everything I needed. I finish packing and get myself ready for my day tomorrow. Thank goodness I took a half day before our trip and it's a light day. I already set everything up for Dr. Lillard, he's gonna be interim head of cardio while I'm gone.
Arizona POV
It's the day before we leave and my one and only surgery isn't for another 4 hours. I head to the lunch room to meet up with Callie. I walk into the cafeteria and I see our group of friends sitting together. I grab my lunch and take my seat next to Callie.
"Hey, I was wondering if you were coming?"
"Sorry, very busy before we leave. How's Dr. Lillard?"
"He's good. I set everything up for him till we get back."
"That's good."
I turn my attention back to the group. "So everyone excited? I know mom is. She hasn't stopped blowing up my phone."
Addison picks up her fork and digs into her salad. "Yeah, I can't wait to get this day over with."
"Same." Timmy agrees.
Timmy puts down his burger and looks at me, "So you have Lilly's surgery, and then your finished?"
"Pretty much."
"Are you gonna have time to pack?"
"No, but Callie is gonna pack for me, once she finished work." I smiled and squeezed her thigh. Which clearly shocks her cause she chokes on her food.
"You okay Cal?" Mark teases. And the group laughs.
"Yeah, I'm good. Just down the wrong pipe that's all." She tries to say.
"Mhmm. If you say so." I whispered just for her to hear.
"Well, I'm gonna go. I promised Aiden I'll visit him before my surgery. So I'll see y'all bright and early tomorrow."
A round of "sounds good and I'll see you then." Is shared from everyone at the table.
"I'll come with you." Callie smiles as we leave the table.
"Perfect." I winked.
As we walked out of the lunchroom, I grab her hand and intertwine or fingers. I'm not one for public display of affection, but with Callie I can't help myself. She just does something to me. We reach the daycare and I see our little man playing with his friends.
"It's crazy all though I just met him 5 months ago it's amazing how much he grew."
"Tell me about it, I was just thinking that last night." Callie agrees. Just then Aiden runs up to us and grabs on to each of our legs.
"Mami, Zona you're here."
"Yes Mijo. We just wanted to check on you before we go back to work."
"I love when you come and visit me, together."
I look at Callie and smile. "We love it too buddy." I kneel down and give him a hug. We play with him for a few minutes and I realize it's time to get back to my floor.
"Well pal I'll see you tomorrow, when we catch the plane and get to see Barbara and Daniel."
"Yay!" He screams.
"Mijo, I'll pick you up when I'm done. We love you."
Secretly I love when Callie includes me in everything. It's like we are this little family, and truly I believe we are. We head out of the daycare.
"So i'm gonna check on Dr. Lillard then I'm done for the day. I'll head to your place and pack your belongings. Then I'll grab Aiden and go home. You coming after?"
"Yes, when I'm done I'll head over to your place." I kiss her lips and head to my floor.
A couple hours later, I scrub into my surgery.
"You ready?" An already scrubbed and gowned Alex pops into the scrub room.
"Yes, let's go."
Callie POV
I just finished packing Arizona things and bringing them to my apartment. I can't help but think life would be so much easier if we just lived together. She stays at my place majority of the time. Would it be too soon to ask? We've been together almost 6 months, I believe that's a good amount of time. Maybe I'll bring it up when we come home from Boston. I look at the time and Arizona should be in her surgery. I go to grab Aiden and we head to gallery to observe Arizona.
"Aiden you want to watch Zona do her surgery?"
"Yes."
In the gallery, I see Teddy and Tim observing and showing Arizona support.
Aiden walks in and runs up to Tim and sits in his lap. "Hi, uncle Tim."
"Hey, buddy." He says giving Aiden a huge bear hug. Aiden leans over and hugs Teddy. "Hi aunty Teddy."
"Hey, Aiden. You here to watch Zona?"
"Yes." He smiles.
I sit next to Teddy and we all watch Arizona concentrate on her surgery. It looks like she's inserting Lily's new trachea. Arizona thinks I have beautiful hands, but I think she does. Arizona has one of the most precise and steady hands I ever seen. Right after she inserts the trachea, she looks up and sees me and Aiden and she gives us a wink and goes back to work. We sit and observe for about an hour.
"Hey Aiden. I think we should head home. I still need to make dinner and give you a bath. Tell uncle Timmy and aunt Teddy bye and we'll see them in the morning."
Aiden gives Tim and Teddy a hug and we head to the apartment. After cooking dinner and putting Aiden to bed, I lay on the couch and read over my research as I wait for Arizona to finish work. I must have been exhausted cause the next thing I know I feel my girlfriend kissing my lips.
I slowly open my eyes and whispered tiredly, "Hey baby. What time is it?"
"Hey, it's 3 a.m were you trying to wait up for me?"
"Yeah, I was just reading my research and I must have fell asleep."
"I'll say, you have drool everywhere." Arizona teased.
"Be quiet. So how'd the surgery go?"
"It went perfect. I stayed until lily woke up and her new trachea is perfect. Alex is staying with her and observing her for the next few days. So he'll keep me updated on everything. By the way thank you for everything sweetie. I know I've been absent this past week, but I promise I'll make it up to you two."
"Arizona, I understand. Aiden understands. But the fact that you recognize and acknowledged that you're gone means a lot. Don't worry we're a team whatever you can't do. I'll do. That's how it works."
Arizona leans down and pecks my lips. "How did I get so lucky to have the most beautiful, and understanding women in this world?"
"I don't know, but I'm just as lucky. You hungry?"
"No, I'm actually really exhausted."
I stand up and take her hand. "Let's go to bed."
Arizona POV
As Callie leads me to the room, I watch her settle on her side of the bed.
"Honey, aren't you coming to bed?"
"I will. I'm just gonna shower first. Don't wait up, you sleep."
"Okay." She says already half to sleep.
After I finish showering, I lay in bed next to Callie. For some reason I'm wide awake. As I lay next to her I watch her, and something comes over me. I grab my phone and I open it up looking at wedding rings. Yes, it may be soon, and I never thought I would be one to get married. That was until I met Callie, and now I want everything with her. She made realize there's more to life than cutting. She's given me dreams, dreams I didn't even know I had. As I'm scrolling through website after website. I feel my eyes become heavy. I close my phone and put it on my night stand. I snuggle up to Callie and fall sleep.
The next thing I know my alarm is going off and it's time to get up, and catch our plane. I gently wake up Callie and she doesn't budge. I shake her a little harder and she rolls off the bed with a 'thump'
"I'm up." She mumbled.
"Babe are you okay?"
She stands up, "Yeah, I'm good."
After we all get ready, we jump into the taxi and meet the gang at the airport. We all check in and head to our gate. Aiden is so excited, the whole morning he kept talking about the chicks and now he's sitting in my lap looking adorable with his little backpack.
"Zona, I can't wait."
"I know buddy. We are gonna have so much fun."
As, the flight attendant calls for first class, we all stand up and make our way to our seats. Callie sits in the middle of us, and she can tell something is up.
"Sweetie are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm good. Just don't care for flying."
"You don't like to fly? You never told me that."
"It's actually just the taking off and landing part that I don't like. Everything else is fine."
Callie intertwines our fingers and gives me a tight squeeze, reassuring me everything is gonna be okay, and in that moment I feel like it is. As we take off, I can feel myself getting tired, I only had 3 hours of sleep. So within the first twenty minutes I knock out. Next thing I know, I feel Callie shaking my shoulders.
"Yeah.. yeah?"
"Honey we just landed."
"Already?"
"Yeah, you slept the whole way."
"Wow, I guess I must have been more tired than I realized."
"I think so, you've been working really hard. Now let's go. We have a vacation to enjoy." She smiled.
"You're right. Let's go."
As we deplaned, I send my mom a text that we landed. She instantly replies and says that her and dad are waiting in the baggage area in a 12 passenger van.
A/N: up next Aiden meets the Robbins' and the Boston vacation begins. The trip will probably be 2-3 chapters long.
