A day before their travel to Hogwarts Percy was eating dinner along with everyone when Tonks , Kingsley , Moody and Mr. Weasley entered the kitchen with tired but jovial expressions on their faces .
On seeing her husbands' happy face Mrs. Weasley asked with surprise " Arthur , What happened you are looking happier than usual ? "
But it was Tonks who answered cheerfully " Minister was shaken to core " .
Everyone looked at Tonks with puzzled expression wondering what she is saying about .
" What Tonks means is a committee of ICW has confirmed the missing of dementors " Kingsley said in his deep voice .
Fred and George yelled with largest grin on their faces " Then Harry could not be surely expelled" .
Soon the table erupted into cheers congratulating Harry by hugs and patting him on his back . But the cheerful mood was brought down by Moody who said in a angry tone " Yes Potter will not be expelled . But it is not one dementor that is missing , nearly one fourth of dementors are missing" .
Everyone looked like something had sucked air of their lungs on hearing that expect Percy and the golden trio who shared knowing grins .
Sirius stuttered unlike him " Wait . that means -" . "You know who has started his recruiting " Mrs. Weasley in a trembling voice .
" But at the same time the ministry will atleast try to understand the return of Dark lord right ?" Lupin said trying to cut the tension in kitchen .
Moody barked " Not like the whole ministry believes it . Fudge is still trying to deny the truth of his return " .
Sirius said with utter bitterness " During the times like this I wonder whether Fudge is a death eater or not . How can he still deny his return even after the mass missing of dementors " .
" But I think atleast some more ministry workers are believing Dumbledore right ? " Mrs. Weasley asked hopefully .
" Molly you won't even believe it but nearly now half of the ministry is believing Dumbledore" Tonks said brightly .
" Yes . A little bit persuasion is enough to make them join the Order " Mr. Weasley said with a kind smile on his face .
Mrs. Weasley said shakily " We aready knew dementors will join You know who but the other news is unexpected . At least one good thing happened in Harry's trial " .
" Yes Molly . Now Fudge is regretting for even keeping the trial in first place " Tonks said with amusement .
" Besides that minister is facing other problems " Kingsley informed .
" What are they ? " Harry asked curiously eventhough he know what the problem is .
" ICW . They lashed out at Minister . They charged the Ministry with fifty thousand galleons for the missing of dementors and they had given four months time to the minister to round up the missing dementors . If not the minister will be sacked out of his office for allowing the potentially dangerous creatures to roam freely " Mr. Weasley replied with a satisfied smile on his face .
" ICW could do it , for allowing dementors to roam freely ? " Hermione asked with curiosity .
" You see Mi'one during the first wizarding war the dementors not only attacked the magical community but also the muggles . Imagine how confusing it will be for the muggles who couldn't even see the creatures to see their family members doing nothing having a blank look in their eyes like a brain dead person " Hermione shivered at the thought " This caused a huge problem in both magical and wizarding world . Many don't know how to solve it , so ICW came with a solution to disguise their members as doctors in muggle hospitals and to close all the cases as brain dead cases and to modify the memories of those who had seen the souls sucked out in front of them . Still it is a question among the muggles about the number of brain dead cases during those years " .
" Once the war was over the first discussion was about rounding up all the dementors and locking them but the minister during that time protested saying they needed dementors to guard Azkaban . So a committee was created to look forward into it . They understood grudgingly the Ministry needed the dementors to guards the prisoners . So they allowed the ministry but under a condition . The counting of dementors will be done once in three years and even if one dementor is missing they will be charged and will be given sometime to round it up but if they failed in that then the minister will be sacked out of the office . The count of the dementors didn't change but now nearly one fourth is missing . I am surprised Fudge was not sacked out his office immediately " Percy finished .
Everyone looked surprised on the new revelation . Sirius asked with surprise " Is it true ? I know about the dementor attack on muggles and the solution of ICW but I don't know about the checking and all " .
Kingsley said " Yes . It is true " . Then he turned to Percy and asked with a raised eyebrow " How did you know about this ? Only the minister , heads of the departments and a few selected aurors knows about it " .
" Sam told me " Percy said simply only to be met with blank looks .
" You know Samantha Parks , Harry's lawyer in the hearing. She told me about this . She doesn't like Fudge and his lust for power . She believes in the return of Voldemort . She doesn't want another war threatening the wizarding world . So she thought the best solution is to sack Fudge out of his office and place someone who can face the threat . That's why she had come to the hearing apart from my request . She thought it is the best chance and that's why everyone was looked surprised on seeing her since she usually doesn't interfere herself in these underage magic hearings " Percy explained .
" Good to know .It will be better if Fudge was not in his office especially during these times " Lupin said .
" Exactly . He is not a leader material " Tonks nodded with agreement to what Lupin said .
" Without Dumbledore's advice he can't even last in his office for a year . I am sure he will crack within a year if he was not sacked out of his office first " Sirius said with amusement .
" Enough talking . You all have to go and sleep now " Mrs. Weasely said sternly pointing at Harry , Hermione , Ron , Percy , Ginny and the twins " Don't wake up late tomorrow " .
-TIME SKIP-
" I will see you later " Hermione said kissing Percy's cheek following Ron into the prefect's carrier leaving Ginny , Harry and Percy in a corridor .
This was the first time Percy had entered the Hogwarts express since the last two times he had flown to Hogwarts by Black Jack .
"Come on," Ginny told them, "if we get a move on we'll be able to save them places." "Right," said Harry, picking up Hedwig's cage in one hand and the handle of his trunk in the other.
Percy noticed a lot of people stared back at Harry and Percy with great interest and that several of them nudged their neighbors and pointed them out. After he had met this behavior in five consecutive carriages Percy remembered that the Daily Prophet had been telling its readers all summer what a lying show-off Harry was while he was rumored to be hit by the killing curse which is basically true and coming back to life which may or may not be true .
This going to be a great year Percy thought bitterly following Harry and Ginny where they meat Neville near the last carriage .
"Hi, Harry," he panted. "Hi, Ginny. . . .Hi Percy. . . . Everywhere's full. . . . I can't find a seat. . . ." "What are you talking about?" said Ginny, who had squeezed past Neville to peer into the compartment behind him.
"There's room in this one, there's only Loony Lovegood in here —" Neville mumbled something about not wanting to disturb anyone.
"Don't be silly," said Ginny, laughing, "she's all right." She slid the door open and pulled her trunk inside it. Harry , Percy and Neville followed.
"Hi, Luna," said Ginny. "Is it okay if we take these seats?"
The girl beside the window looked up. She had straggly, waist length, dirty-blond hair, very pale eyebrows, and protuberant eyes that gave her a permanently surprised look. Percy knew at once why Neville had chosen to pass this compartment by. The girl gave off an aura of distinct dottiness. Perhaps it was the fact that she had stuck her wand behind her left ear for safekeeping, or that she had chosen to wear a necklace of butterbeer caps, or that she was reading a magazine upside down. Her eyes ranged over Neville and came to rest between Harry and him . She nodded .
"Thanks," said Ginny, smiling at her.
Once Percy , Harry , Neville and Ginny settled comfortably , Ginny asked "Had a good summer, Luna?"
"Yes, it was quite enjoyable, you know." Luna said dreamily still looking between Percy and Harry making the boys to shift uncomfortably " You are Harry Potter and Percy Jackson " .
" I know I am " Harry responded while Percy nodded at her with a kind smile .
Neville chuckled. Luna turned her pale eyes upon him instead. "And I don't know who you are."
"I'm nobody," said Neville hurriedly. "No you're not," said Ginny sharply. "Neville Longbottom — Luna Lovegood. Luna's in my year, but in Ravenclaw."
"Wit beyond measure is man's greatest treasure," said Luna in a singsong voice. She raised her upside-down magazine high enough to hide her face and fell silent.
Harry , Percy and Neville exchanged glances with their eyebrows raised. Ginny suppressed a giggle.
The train rattled onward, speeding them out into open country. It was an odd, unsettled sort of day; one moment the carriage was full of sunlight and the next they were passing beneath ominously gray clouds .
Percy looked out of the window clearly with a small smile on his face clearly enjoying the scenery . His thoughts flew back to the start of the hunt for Horcruxes where they found out Riddle's diary with which he possessed Ginny is a Horcrux and it was destroyed by Basilisk venom . So one of the ways to destroy a Horcrux is to stab it with Basilisk fang .
Dumbledore said there is a possibility Riddle could have made the things which are his most important possession as a Horcrux considering the fact he had turned his diary into a Horcrux but they don't know what his other important possession will be .
He was brought out of his thoughts by Neville saying " Mimbulus mimbletonia ".
It was pulsating slightly, giving it the rather sinister look of some diseased internal organ.
"It's really, really rare," said Neville, beaming. "I don't know if there's one in the greenhouse at Hogwarts, even. I can't wait to show it to Professor Sprout. My great-uncle Algie got it for me in Assyria. I'm going to see if I can breed from it."
" What can it do ? " Harry asked curiously observing it .
"Loads of stuff!" said Neville proudly. "It's got an amazing defensive mechanism — hold Trevor for me. . . ." He dumped the toad into Harry's lap and took a quill from his schoolbag. Luna Lovegood's popping eyes appeared over the top of her upside-down magazine again, watching what Neville was doing. Neville held the Mimbulus mimbletonia up to his eyes, his tongue between his teeth, chose his spot, and gave the plant a sharp prod with the tip of his quill. Liquid squirted from every boil on the plant, thick, stinking, dark green jets of it .
Percy instinctively raise his hand to prevent his face from being hit by the liquid . After a moment or two Percy opened his eyes and saw the liquid was frozen in mid air , slowly forming a ball shape moving towards him .
He saw everyone in the carriage was looking at him with eyes and jaw slacked on seeing that when a nervous voice said "Oh . . . hello, Harry . Um . . . bad time?"
Percy looked at the door and noticed a very pretty girl with long, shiny black hair was standing in the doorway smiling at Harry . She then looked at the ball of goo wide eyes and said when she saw Harry not even noticed her "Um . . . Well . . . just thought I'd say hello . . . 'bye then " .
When she closed the door Harry snapped out of his daze and looked at the door where Cho was standing with a longing gaze before turning to Percy .
" What is the that ? " Harry is asked his voice filled with amazement motioning towards the ball of goo now floating before Percy . Harry knew Percy could control water but he didn't know he could control other liquids .
Based on Percy's reaction , Harry could say he even didn't know about that .
" That is wandless magic " Neville said with barely concealed surprise in his voice .
" Yeah " Luna said dreamily .
" That is awesome " Ginny said brightly .
Percy took his wand out and muttered " Scourgify " causing the goo to vanish .
Percy looked at Harry in his eyes with a I will tell you later look before turning to look out of the window .
Ron and Hermione did not turn up for nearly an hour, by which time the food trolley had already gone by. Percy still didn't speak to anyone , Harry could tell that incident had clearly shaken him up. Harry, Ginny, and Neville had finished their Pumpkin Pasties and were busy swapping Chocolate Frog cards while Percy was sleeping when the compartment door slid open and they walked in, accompanied by Crookshanks and a shrilly hooting Pigwidgeon in his cage .
Percy was wondering what happened , he had never controlled anything other than water before but now he had controlled a liquid which should not be even possible .
Percy looked at the ring in his finger tracing the wave like engravings on it , observing after he started to use the trident he could feel more powerful than before . He didn't know whether controlling the liquids is a son of Poseidon thing or it is because of the trident . If it is due to the trident then why did his father give such a powerful weapon to him .
He still had many questions which cannot be answered by anyone other than the Olympians who would have surely known about his gift otherwise Zeus would have thrown a fit .
Zeus must have given permission for giving this powerful weapon to Percy but he didn't know why Zeus would give permission for this . But Percy can say one thing , whatever the answer is he is not going to like it .
With these thoughts the Hero Of Olympus started to sleep due to exhaustion .
At very long distance from them , two powerful beings watched the scene where Percy stopped the liquid in mid-air , in the hearth of the goddess present in the middle of the empty council room of the mighty Olympians . The said goddess turned to her brother who is the most strongest god and the most caring godly parent she knew .
" Brother as you can see , Perseus is starting to suspect it . It will be good -"
" Of course not . My son is going through many difficulties , he should not know about it. He wouldn't even be in this situation if not for the stupid curse and the stupid son of Hades " . Her brother snapped at her furiously which would have made even the King Of Gods to flinch in fear but the goddess knew her brother would never hurt her intentionally .
" I understand Poseidon , Perseus is already going through many difficulties but hiding the truth from him will do no good " She tried to reason with her brother but the god now identified as Poseidon said firmly " My son will not find about it , Hestia . That's the reason why I had given that trident to him . It will do its purpose " .
Hestia shook her head in annoyance knowing sometimes Poseidon is more stubborn that Zeus .
She sighed and looked back at the image in the hearth , showing her nephew talking to his girlfriend and his friends cheerfully in a carriage pulled by thestrals to the magical school , momentarily forgetting about what happened today . She thought with a sad smile the possibility Poseidon and other gods feared , should not happen otherwise she don't know what Perseus would do .
